  • I've never come across a Qantas charge card. Any recommendations?

    • +1

I think the only personal charge card left in AUS market is Amex Platinum, since Diners exited.

    • +1

Amex platinum, you can transfer points to Qantas

    • American Express Platinum
      American Express Centurion

Both are the only existing personal charge cards in Australia

      • Can I get it with only $80k annual income?

        • It used to be minimum 100k but they removed that req but it might be a shadow req.

          You can try?

        • Kudos to you if you can make the benefits worth it on a middle income

  • Thanks :).

  • I got one 2 weeks ago. Would i get it??

    • +4

Active the deal anyway! This happened to me in the past, it was only 1 week earlier and I still got the bonus points. I think it works because technically the points for the first months statement haven't hit your account yet.

      • Yes just activated

    • +1

If you haven't had any Qantas points credited yet (outside the promo period), it'll probably work.

  • I got approved for one yesterday F…

    • +7

Just register today. You may still get it as the Qantas points won't hit your Qantas account until after you have registered this promotion.

      • +1

Ohhhh good to know, thanks !!

  • Can you activate and just sign up for the Qantas American Express Discovery Card ($0 fee)?

    • You'd hope so…

    • You should be able to. I got the points from downgrading Amex previously: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15599999/redir

    • Risk of this is you get an AMEX card and these 20k points, but I believe you'd then render yourself ineligible for any further AMEX offers for the next 12 months.
20k points isn't much for an AMEX.

But I may be wrong, perhaps the discovery card doesn't create exclusions on other AMEX points cards …?

      • 20k extra points?

    • +1

Then you get into the 18-months lock period to get just 20k points. I would rather wait for a good offer from AMEX that may result in a lot more points…

Any good CC's nowadays with good bonus QFF and low card fee / waived?

  • Would this stack with the first time cardholder bonus on the qantas premier platinum card?

    • +1

I was wondering the same thing. Looks like you only get one (and it would be the 30k bonus points coming with that card) based on the terms of this 20k offer:

You will receive the higher first-time cardholders bonus offer if you apply and are approved for a Qantas Money Premier Platinum credit card, even if you have registered for the 20,000 extra Qantas Points offer.

Any card recommendations? Comparing to Velocity earning cards it seems Qantas cards have higher fees!

  • Doesn't look like I'm eligible, I'm already earning Qantas points (almost daily) through my current card.

Please do not take the following as good advice. It's just a comment.

I do find from time to time, they say you're not eligible but they haven't implemented the business logic to verify. I've received first-time customer offers when I'm an existing customer from time to time. It's a risk to try but I only take the risk on $0 Annual Fee cards.

Hopefully Virgin does another 30k bonus offer one soon

  • After receiving the confirmation email, how long do you have to apply for a card?

    1. register between 12.01am (AEST) 1 October and 11.59pm (AEDT) 31 October 2024,
    2. receive a confirmation email to the nominated email address in your Qantas Frequent Flyer account within five business days,
    3. apply for any card featured on qantas.com/cards and be approved by the relevant card partner, and
    4. make an eligible purchase on their new card within 30 days.

I believe you have to apply for card and earn points on said card within 30 days of applying i.e. today (in your case).

  • Would I be eligible for 20,000k bonus points as first time customer if apply any of no annual fee card which says Bonus Points N/A as shown under qantas.com/cards?

  • -1

How does this work with business account, only have abn and login to business portal does nothing

  • +3

FYI, here's a nice table for comparing Qantas credit cards (including calculation of points per $1 fee) compiled by OpulentLace: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/867723

  • If I had AMEX Platinum which got approved last month and register for this offer, can I get the bonus points if I transfer to QFF?

  • -8

20k isnt much, i got 140k on my amex business card and double points for 6 months. Currently sitting on 480k after booking business class to nz for next holiday.

  • I did ANZ one! 90k points for the first year with cash back 200, so the first yr annual fee is 425-200=225. Worth than other cards so far!

  • Anyone know if I met the conditions and closed the card, would I receive the points?

  • Does anyone know if I apply for a card after 31st Oct (but registered for the offer before that), would I still be eligible for the 20k bonus points? Didn't see the t&c on the restriction on when to apply by latest.

    • As long as you make a transaction on a card you applied for within 30 days of registering I think you’ll get it.
