Motorola Moto G54 5G - Midnight Blue 8GB RAM/128GB Storage $29 with an Eligible Plan (Minimum $30 Plan) Delivered @ amaysim

1810

I got an email with a code for an extra $150 off their EOFY deals, which includes the Motorola Moto G54 5G.

The code reduces the cost of the device to $29.00 however you need to add a plan (cheapest is $30 plan) bringing the total to a measly $59.00.

There could be some good deals on other phones but this one is likely to be the best.

I've flagged the deal as Targeted as I'm not sure if it is or not but better to be on the safe side. If the code turns out to be generic then I can update the post with the coupon.

Edit
I'm guessing I've been targeted because they think I'm still using a 3G device, hence the email I received refers to upgrading to a 4G/5G handset and that's what the additional credit is for.

    • it's gonna give you a plan summary and inclusions before you pay. Also, it's just a oneoff plan that you need to get. After one month, you can cancel or move to another carrier.

    • +1

Btw, it does include free international calls. Depends on country though - check plan details

  • Can the plan be cancelled after the first month?

    • yes.

      • +1

        For free?

        • +2

No contract, just cancel the auto-renew will do.

        • +1

Yea mate. It's not a contract.

      • +1

The order page says 'Minimum cost $$ + 1 renewal of your chosen plan'.

Is the extra $30 paid when we order the phone considered the 1 renewal? Or will they take another $30 when one month is up? Even if I disable auto-renew? The phrase '1 renewal' is what I am not clear about. Thanks.

  • +1

    How to get this deal?

    • +1

      Be targeted.

    • +1

      Yes, but no luck.

  • Also just an FYI, this is just from past experience on amaysim. If you are a new singup and cancel auto-renewal, for the next month renewal (maybe 5 days prior)- it's gonna give you a discounted renewal fees. Mine was 22.50 for next 3 months originally.

    • +4

they just offered me $60 for a whole year lol.. way cheaper than their current 365 day plans, cos i actually let mine expire altogether. I know just before expiry they offer u $90 or something.. Well, i can say first hand if you actually LET it expire, they give u an even better deal.

      • Thanks, didn't know about that. I paid the $90 for renewal and thought it was a good deal already

        • Funnily enough i clicked through to accept that deal but i guess it didnt work. So i went i think 3 days or something without even realising i didnt have a current plan (data still worked) and then they emailed me for $60 for a year, lol. Bonus !

          • @Iggemo: My 365 day plan expires in 3 weeks. I still have >100GB in databank as well as some $ in credit. I think If I let my plan expire and wait for Amaysim to offer 50% off, I would lose all the data in the databank and credits.

            • @felixfktung: You let the data to be in the bank means you actually don’t need then.

            • @felixfktung: All my data carried over. I could actually still use it while expired. I lost my phone service while expired but not data.

Just checked the email they sent me (which was 4 june - i think that was the day of expiry) and it says unused data carries over - which is what happened for me.

Here are a couple of snapshots of the email, pic 2 is of interest to you in particular:

              https://ibb.co/8MD837M

  • ermm so how much will it be for eligible people to sign up and cancel to get the phone?

    • +5

59$ is the minimum you get the phone for.

29$ + 30$ compulsory one month phone plan.

  • -3

I converted my PAYG plan into a $30 Unlimited 32GB 5G plan using account credit just now.

However the phone price is still:
    $29 G54 + compulsory $30 Unlimited 32GB plan = $59. Ordered, thanks OP.

Targeted as I had a SIM in my Galaxy S5, which I assume is ineligible for VOLTE. After I receive the phone I may live chat to dispute the $30 compulsory "upgrade".

    • +6

dude it's a $59 G54, dont Karen them about the included plan lmao

    • +2

The email mentions 'when you add an eligible SIM plan' and this has been the case ever since. I don't think you can actually dispute the $30 'eligible SIM plan'. However, let us know if you're able to get it :-)

      • -1

Thanks, in that case I'm happy to leave it

  • thx guys. ordered one.
any idea is the phone locked to Amaysim/Optus?

  • Shopback Cashback Rates

    • 32GB Mobile SIM Plan | $9.02
    • Samsung Galaxy A13, Oppo A53s, Google Pixel, & Motorola | $6.50

Any idea which Cashback amount will we get ;-)

    • +3

None, since you are using a custom code.

      • Exactly!

  • I got the offer (assuming targeted).

      • Gone sorry.

  • If I sign up to amaysim now, would I be able to get a code?

  • +2

    the site has been ozbargained

  • Has OB broken another website? Can't load my cart… There's a surprise!!!

    • Give it couple of mins and try again it will work.

    • I tried 20+ times and finally loaded.

  • Is it $29plan for for 12 months??
Or one off $29 prepaid plan. ?

    • +1

      prepaid 28 day plan

    • +1

      28 days

  • $60 with a free month phone plan is hard to resist

    • It's all about how you see it, haha!

  • +1

nice, got the Galaxy A55 for $279

  • +2

Nice catch, I went through my email and found it

  • +1

that's what I found from amaysim

We would like to inform you that the offer that your friend receive was only exclusive for our customer who will be affected by 3G shutdown.

If you did not receive any email for that, then our system did not detect that your device will not be affected by 3G shutdown in September.

  • +2

thanks op, wouldn't have looked at the amaysim email if not for this post.
    bought one
i have a 365 day amaysim simcard in a samsung galaxy note 4 - using it as a home phone

  • -3

Did I missed it? shows $179+$30 for me.
edit: have to use the code in the email to work.

  • +1

Parents and I have 4x Amaysim services between us… not one of us got the code.

Parents got some stupid "The Escape Plan" email about a holiday and cinemas passes competition.

    • +3

Seems like only people with 3G phones got the code.

      • or a non common phone like Xiaomi

    • -1

When you have an expired plan, your service will be kicked to a lower 3G/4G tower signal. Then they will see you as a 3G user.

      • Dad's second service is expired. It's only still active because he has a data roaming pack still active till Oct. Mine is an AYG service with 49c or something on it.

Oh well, saves us from spending money anyway.

  • When we add the Eligible SIM plan, does it activate the SIM right away?
From memory, online amaysim SIM puchases need activation rightaway while placing the order and then they reset the plan-start-date once the SIM is delivered, to make up for the lost number of days. Is this still the case?

With the phone, Can I buy the SIM and not activate it immediately?

    • +1

Can I buy the SIM and not activate it immediately?

Bloody better be able to, i still got two weeks on current plan and i'll activate it after that. Ordered the physical sim so its not like it can activate before it arrives anyways. I do wonder how long you can wait to activate, is it 30 days or 2 years.

      • As far as I remember, it comes pre-activated and the start date of plan is reser when you actually receive the SIM. This was the case till now, so wanted to confirm.

        Hence, asked.

        • +1

oh boy that's no good. Hope its not the way now. When the SIM should be activated should be completely upon the customer.

      • +2

This is what chat support told me "For new numbers, the SIM comes pre-activated so the plan will be activated while the SIM is in transit. But no worries, once you start using the SIM/service within 15 days from the activation, the plan will automatically restart so you will still be able to use the plan for the full 28 days."

        • Yeah that's how it has been, I remember.

        • +1

          What about existing numbers?

    • +1

Can I buy the SIM and not activate it immediately?

Choose to port in a number instead.

      • If we choose to Port-In a number,

        • Do we still have to provide ID details, i.e. is the SIM still tagged to our name and may be activated only under our name?
        • Is it mandatory to port the same number which was provided when we choose "Transfer Number" while buying?
  • +2

Thanks OP! I would have ignored this email if not for your post.

    • I had even deleted the email already…Dug in the the deleted folder and got back to it. Cheers!

hi all, just want to be sure:

this phone is dual sim — e-sim + nano sim

the nano sim slot is shared with a microsd card slot. Choose to use the nano sim or the microsd card, correct?

    • +1

I think it has a dedicated microSD slot that supports up to 1 TB.

See Full specifications on GSM Arena website.

      • microSDXC (uses shared SIM slot) - China

        -copied from GSM arena website

        • +2

          microSDXC (dedicated slot) - International

          Australia gets the international version.

          • +1

@scix: so does this phone come with dual sim (e-sim + physical sim)?

            • +2

@AirbusA389: All information I have suggests it does (including the amaysim page itself which lists eSim as a feature).

If you're really worried, screen shot the link and complain if the phone arrives without the feature.

            • @AirbusA389: Yes, i have the phone.

    • Esim would be handy…parents are on Amaysim.
Wonder if a setting change to 3G only will yield a code?

  • Does anyone what is the refund policy for JB hi-fi. I bought in this phone under https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/841511. Haven't opened it and currently targeted by Amaysim…

    • 30 days change of mind.

    • +1

      But the phone from Amaysim.

Sell the old phone from JBHIfi on the Ozbargain Classifieds for $149

  • +4

Ordered a g54. I hate my current Motorola g5 but I can't justify spending hundreds more on a Pixel or Oppo. $59 for a new phone is a bargain these days!

  • +14

    I don't need this but I'm furious I can't get it.

  • +4

    I feel a bit bummed.
I've got a limping 3G phone & get the spam sms & emails from amaysim about the shutdown, but no voucher email. sadface..
Maybe something in the future for me, plenty of time.

  • is it locked to amaysim ?

  • +2

Phone is showing out of stock…

  • +1

    OzBargained!

    • no shit

  • There's a surprise…

  • +3

I'm with Amaysim. They keep on sending me emails saying i need a phone upgrade but no offer or code - waaaaah.

    • +2

I got the offer, thought I'd leave it till this morning and, as a result of OB (surprise surprise), OOS!! Not bad for a targeted deal.

        • Sorry, used it to buy the A55 instead…

          • @vinnycol: Probably a better phone than the G54 if you only have one main phone.

G54 is great but the camera sucks/isn't as versatile without that UWA IMHO.

I was hoping for a code amongst one of Mum, Dad and my Amaysim accounts but no luck… was gonna get at least Dad an A55 to replace his Nokia 8.3.
