        • Isn't it false cause it was hosted 17th local time ?

          • +1

@retainer: you should win one of the 100 purely for that thought process. very valid point, for everyone actually at the event in Cali, it was the 17th not the 18th

      • I think it's true 🤔. It says here "On January 17, Samsung Electronics will host Unpacked in San Jose."

Then convert the date/time to Australia.

        • But why to convert time to Australia? Is the link Australia specific? I don't think so

          • @keepsmiling: It could be a relative timestamp so auto converted to 18th as that is the local time for us

      • Yeah tricky one, probably they kept it on purpose to decline the claim saying you selected the wrong option 🤔

Being said that, I am looking for answer too

        • +1

Youre overthinking it. These questions are dead easy and obvious. The watch one asked if new main feature was ai. The answer is true for this one obvs

          • @Bigredkeg: No the question is,
"On January 18th 2024, Samsung Electronics hosted the Unpacked in San Jose?"

            • +4

@keepsmiling: Yeah the unpacked event was on the 18th and that form was for australia. Pretty sure its a yes and they arent trying to trick you with dates , the question is in the location.

              • @Bigredkeg: I'll take your word mate 🙂

              • @Bigredkeg: I filled out one of these forms last time and they sent me free buds

                • @abs898: Did you order from the education store ?

                  • @ozvictor: Nope, last time it was a better deal to order via the normal store.

                    • @abs898: This time too indeed better in normal store if you get the free watch 6 47mm classic LTE which worth $849, but now promo expired, hope they fulfill the education order as well

                      • @ozvictor: Free watch is a luck thing, buying from edu was a straight up $300 discount.

Las time gen store was straight up less cash compared to edu

  • Has anyone received anything regarding the bonus watch such as emails etc? Thanks

    • +1

Last year they contacted me on 28 February, and my phone order was placed on 2nd February. If I have to guess, it will be after your phone's return period has ended.

      • Initially I was expecting an email says something like, "we have received……one of team member will contact you…" It has no communication after submitting the form.
I didn't notice that the TC seems excluding the purchase from Education store. Where did you buy from?

        • It excludes Education orders I think, do you have the T&C link for this year?

Last year I bought from general store and saw the form on Samsung members app. I had forgotten about the form until they emailed me

          • @abs898: I don't have the T&C now but I am sure that it excludes the education store after I found some users mentioned about tc.

            • @HappyBargainer: Yeah I am almost certain I read about ie being excluded. A lot of users changed their orders from edu to gen.

So i know everyone says you only get charged the holding amount if you do not return your phone. Reading Samsungs website, it now clearly states Samsung may charge you any bonuses applied to the order if you do not return the phone. It never used to say that.

    To quote:

'WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T SEND IN MY TRADE-IN DEVICE?
You have 7 days to return your device to Asurion once you receive your new eligible Galaxy device. If you do not return your device within 14 days, you will be automatically charged a Late Return Fee of up to $60, which is non-refundable. The Security Charge will be held until your device is received and graded. Samsung may also charge you for any additional bonus credit applied to your order.

However the T and C does not have that as a possible payment. So I guess T and C is out of date and they can not apply it?

    • +1

There's always been wording to that effect. History says that you won't be charged the bonus credit. But with each new release there is some level of risk.

    • It's always been there but at the same time let's say Samsung wants to charge the bonus applied, orders made via PayPal and Aftwrpay etc can't be charged unless it has the buyers permission. If Samsung is listed as an automated payment approver in your PayPal list, you can remove it

  • Who got they S24U yet? what the ETA for Sydney Metro Mine is it Shipped no tracking yet

    • +1

No one. Apparently shipped doesn't mean shipped at Samsung. Possibly means it's packed or being packed but isn't with the courier company yet

    • +1

      Still awaiting dispatch

      • My Total Order says Shipped.
(My Order says Get it by 29/01/24 Standard Delivery) I think if they don't dispatch either today or tomorrow, I won't receive them by Monday 29/1/24. Especially since Friday is a Public Holiday (Australia Day)

        Ordered Thursday 18th around 7pm
        S24 Ultra Violet
        Clear Case,
        Screen Protector
        Power Bank
        Trio Power Adapter

        • Perhaps the delivery drivers aren't observing the public holiday on that day?

          • +1

@0 0 0: They use StarTrack as the courier which is operated under AusPost
I just sent something yesterday to a Sydney addy and the estimated timeframe has been factored in for the public holiday on Fri

          • @0 0 0: What do you mean mate, how do they not know its Australia day!

            • +1

@italianganga: I have had StarTrack deliver on a Sunday before.

              • @DukeNinja: I have never had that experience - Fingers crossed they get dispatched today or tomorrow !

        • Doesn't it say "ships from January 29", not arrives on January 29. I think it might leave the warehouse on 29 Jan.

          • @meowmeowmeow: In the past years, it's always arrived a couple of days before the said date.

But maybe this time, they are looking to deliver bang on the 30th.

It's sent via overnight express. So if they send it on the 29th, 30th delivery

          • @meowmeowmeow: All Items in my order page, including the phone all say "Get it by 29/01/24 Standard Delivery"

            • +1

@italianganga: Interesting. Mine says ships from 29 Jan. Maybe it's because i ordered an exclusive colour.

              • @meowmeowmeow: I just ordered the standard colour (Titanium Violet)

              • @meowmeowmeow: Same scenario, ships from 29 Jan. Online exclusive colour too.

                • @racingmiku: I think it depends on the order time. I ordered in the afternoon on Friday - Black colour and it says shipped from 29 Jan standard delivery

                  • @Bargains hunterr: Yeah same. Ordered Black 512 Ultra on the 18th and it says Shipped from 29 Jan, current status is Awaiting Dispatch

                    • @acrosstheline: Same. Ordered Grey 512 Ultra on the 18th and it says Shipped from 29 Jan, current status is Awaiting Dispatch

  • has anyone got charged trade-in value already? I thought they only charged if you don't send your phone to them but my card has been charged (from pending)

    • Yep me too. I traded in my watch a few weeks ago and got charged too. There was a delay with sending it in as my new watch was faulty so i even ended up having to pay the charge as my statement came due. They should really only be taking a pre-authorisation, not actually charging the money.

      • so if we don't send the trade back, they will charge extra $30 from the authorisation card?

        • Or $60

          • @snvl: I think it is flat $60 this time. I traded in a $5 device but when looked up the t&c it said $60 fee if device is not sent.

    • +1

Yes, I got charged by Asurion this morning. It was showing 'pending' yesterday. Checked after reading your comment.

    • They charge when the trade-in code is used and refund the charge after receiving the old device.

      • How tight are they on devaluation? Like very small wear marks on body… hopefully they honour estimate, given its well below current market value as it is.

    • Yes, got charged upfront for my last 3 trade ins instead of a holding charge.

      • How quick were the refunds after sending your devices in?

        • +1

          Usually a week.

          • @DukeNinja: That's good to hear, reading lots of posts about asurion never refunding and having to resort to charge backs.

  • +1

I ordered S24U 256GB Titanium Grey on Friday 19th Jan along with accessories. And cancelled the accessories once order status changed to order accepted. Haven’t yet received the accessories refund, but my phone order status changed to “shipped” today. Will receive the tracking number only when the status will change to “on the way”. Will update if I receive the accessories refund or tracking number.

    • Thanks, yes please update us. Will update this once my order has moved to " on yhe way" unfortunately I am losing hope that I will recieve it by the 29th as stated on my order because it is stuck on Shipped

  • My order also changed to Shipped just now.

Ordered around 4pm on 18 Jan, S24U 256GB Black, cancelled accessories on 19 Jan, paid via Afterpay. No refund yet.

    • Is your order states shipped by 29th or delibered by 29th?

      • My order says “Get it by 29/01/24” but this doesn’t hold any value I guess.

        • Interesting I ordered on 18th around 10pm and it says ship by 29th. Now still awaiting dispatch

      • It says "Get it by 29/01/24 Standard Delivery"

    • My order status was shipped from 29 Jan and right now been changed to:
Arrives before official release on 29/01/2024 Standard Delivery.
I ordered on 19th 5pm still no refund for cancellation and they deducted money for the trade in value.
Hopefully it's coming as mentioned above.

      • Which phone did you order and colour?

        • I ordered U 1TB Black but unfortunately I checked the app again and it's been reverted back to previous notification which is: Shipped from 29th Jan

    • Have you tried livechat for the refund status?

      • +1

Yeah they said it will take ~5 business days to process.

  • ordered on 19 Jan at 4;50 pm, 512 gb ultra grey, still awaiting dispatch, is this normal?

    • +1

Normal. I ordered the same phone on 18th night. Still awaiting dispatch

      • I think the grey is most popular this year so they have some stock issues.

  • if anyone gets tracking id or past the shipping stage, let us know please

    • For sure! Contacted Samsung again today - I said are they sure we will recieve the order by the 29th even though there is a public holiday before the weekend. They said they werent sure ( bloody hopeless) I said what if it doesnt get delivered by the 29th, they said contact Star Track to figure out whats wrong. What a joke. Anyway, fingers crossed it arrives by next Monday which is what is on my order page!

      • i want it before the long weekend LOL

      • Have patience guys. Give it another day. Even if they dispatch in Thursday you will get it on Monday.

That still counts as by 29th

      • however the website said "Ships from 29th" not "arrives by 29th" ….. when we ordered.

    • I've reached out via live chat and they told me the shipped status just means the stock is allocated for shipping. I assume the tracking info will be updated once the shipment is scanned and boarded onto the truck. Will wait and see if something happens today to have delivery tomorrow, otherwise best case Monday delivery.

  • Anyone know what happens if you cancel an order and do it again?

What happens to the trade in phone that was used?

Will the website allow you to use the same phone again and what happens to the trade in money they already charged.

    • +1

I don't think it will let you use the same device again for a trade-in since the imei would already be locked in. I read in some other comment that they contacted support and the device might be released in few days.

edit: Was referring to this comment. Apparently the delay in processing is due to call volumes

    • +1

Can't use the trade in again. You will need to contact Asurion to cancel the trade in which is a pain. Will take at least a couple of days before they get back to you to cancel the trade in code.

    • +1

I have done it in the past. Yes the website will allow you to use the phone again. When the order cancels, in a couple of weeks, the trade in you used will be cancelled too.

If it doesn't work, Asurion has a portal now, try and see if you can self cancel.

  • -1

If you don't post your trade-in to Asurion, then obviously there is no refund for the trade-in value and you are charged $60 …. but do you still keep the bonus trade-in discounts?

    • +1

In past experience yes you keep the trade in bonuses. But it blacklists the phone from ever being reused in a trade in deal in the future. And it's impossible to get it removed from the blacklist. It's not so much a blacklist other than a database discrepancy that stops future trade ins of the same device from working.

      • +2

Thats not correct. I traded in S20FE in past and never returned it. And used it this time again for trade in. Didn’t face any issues. I guess they don’t bother whether you return the device or not as they do charge you the trade in value plus $60 fee on top.

        • I can confirm this. I was able to reuse an IMEI this year.

But also I agree with the other comment regarding blocking device. It has happened in the past when there was the trade up app. If you were using the app on an already traded device, it will block you out.

          • @abs898: Ah yes I used the Trade Up app. That's probably what blocked it

            • @0 0 0: Factory reset the phone, you'll get a new device ID.

              • @CodeXD: You can just delete data and cache for the trade up app and that will generate a new one too

          • @abs898: what i do is screenshot the Trade ID and uninstall the app i think it doesn't block you out if you say trade up app block people i think but need fact check it with other people cause i did it with my S10FE and never been block out and my parent is using it currently still working

  • Still no Tracking numbers or my order moving to "On the way".
Losing hope that we will receive it by the 29/1/24 :(

    • +1

All Samsung's gotta do is ship by 5pm tomorrow and it will be delivered by the 29th.

    • +3

I wonder why everybody thinks its received by 29/01. Because the website when you ordered said "Ship by 29/1" not received by…..
