Apple Store & Apple Education Store: 8% Cashback (Online Only, $150 Cap, Exclusions Apply, Was 1.3%) @ Cashrewards

1560

Hi guys. "Mr Apple Man" here. Reached out to TA to see if any deals were coming up and he was delightful to share an upcoming Apple cashback deal for Black Friday. Runs for 6 hours only (See below). Enjoy!

Brodens can stack with saved up 10-15% off Gift Cards from ColesWorth for even greater discounts! (remember - Apple allows a maximum of 8 Apple Gift Cards per transaction. You can bypass this by adding the Gift Card to your Apple Account Balance instead. From mine as well as plenty of other OzBargainers' experiences from other posts, cashback will still track if the payment method consists of the Apple Account Balance either fully or partially).

Current Gift Card Promotions (to stack):

  1. 15% off TCN Teen, Kids, Baby, Home, Active, Shop, Choice, Cinema, Pamper + More Gift Cards (Excludes Variable Load) @ Coles

@WookieMonster (our gift card wiki) might voluntarily hop on the comments to help out on any gift card enquiries - thanks as always :)

This will allow you to buy the Apple AirPods Pro 2nd Gen with USB-C at Apple Store online for approximately $229.55 after cashback using 15% off gift cards and subtracting the $80 gift card1 - unbeatable all time low!

    no iPhone15 series… :-(

    • Why not?

      • +2

        its in the ineligible section

        • might as well get the amaysim deal

  • does it work in refurb store?

    • +1

Cashback is eligible on purchases paid with gift cards, and eligible on the purchase of Apple refurbished products.

  • -2

So is there any cash back on MacBook Pro's?

    • +1

      MacBook No

  • +1

Also official apple store doesn't sell 14 pro or pro max… Only 14 and plus

  • That exclusion list is like all the good products. Good if you want a MacBook Air I guess

  • Would all the apple watch straps be eligible for cashback, under the accessories tab? https://www.apple.com/au/shop/accessories/all/made-by-apple?…

    • +1

As it’s not on the exclusions list, yes.

  • cmon jbhifi or Officeworks.
I've got some ultimate gift cards to burn

    • Then buy Apple GCs and take advantage of this

      • -4

        No

      • the problem is I cannot find any JB Hifi around my place selling Apple gift cards anymore :(

        • on a shelf near the check outs at the stores I use

  • Thanks, Apple Man.

    (List updated 21/08/23)

And that list still holds for the upcoming event?

Good to see the cap is $150 per member, compared to $40 from ShopBack, though they are offering 10% cashback.

    • Sorry, I’ve fixed it up with the new date. My bad for copy pasting hahahaha.

    • +1

thats $40 is just additional bonus for westpac lounge
I think its likely that shopback will also increase cashback rate for Apple
meaning you can stack both cashback + using apple credit from discounted TCN GC (buying from JB)

      • $40 when using westpac card, so, you can’t stack tcn/Apple gift card ($400 worth costing $340), so, it’s a loss of $20. It’s worth for those who couldn’t get the gift cards.

        • +1

Not 100% true, as you can partially pay by giftcard
in apple during checkout, you can choose how much you want to pay via your account credit
as long as you pay $1 with westpac card, the whole amount (ex GST) will be counted towards cashback

SB rep has confirmed partial payment with apple GC / credit is fine, as long as westpac card is charged https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14605555/redir

          • @littlesoldier: That’s great. I thought only the amount paid by the card would be eligible

  • +1

sorry which gift card from 15% works on apple?

  • Anyone got turned down with the JBhifi buying apple gift card using multiple TCN gift card to pay?

Obviously they know what you trying to do, wouldn’t they reject the transaction ?

$300 apple gift card means 6 TCN $50 cards. JBhifi cashier staff will be pissed off

    • +1

Isn’t that you just use eftpos to pay? Don’t think they will care which card you use to make payment?

      • Yup, I do it all the time, they don’t care. Just tell them you’re doing split payments or multiple payments on the one transaction.

        • Yup, I do it all the time, they don’t care.

This varies from store to store. Some cashiers will tell you off if they see you using GCs to purchase GCs.

    • Yea your not allowed to buy gift cards with gift card I was told by the store manager .

      • The TCN card works via EFTPOS system at the POS. You swipe and pay as if it was a credit card.

        • +1

Depends who you get. I was also turned down by a manager who absolutely wouldn't budge on this.

  • +1

Excludes Apple Watch ultra 2 damnnn

    • +1

      You seem surprised?
This has been the case with their flagship / new products year after year.

  • Can you buy old MacBook Pro 14 M2?

  • Will this deal work with the promo apple are running where if you buy a product you get a gift card back?

    • Yes

      • -1

If they price match with JBHIFI, will i still get the gift card? or so they not stack promos like that?

  • No M3 MacBook Pro, sheesh.

  • Apple Watch SE/8? 8% cashback + $80 gift card by apple?

  • What about refurbished MacBook Pro?

    • +1

Cashback is eligible on purchases paid with gift cards, and eligible on the purchase of Apple refurbished products.

      • But also….

Cashback is ineligible on the following:
(List updated 31/10/23): MacBook Pro 14”, MacBook Pro 16”

        • Refurbished is considered a separate category in Apple talk. When any refurbished is excluded, it states it.

  • +4

I made a purchase through Cashrewards during the 8% cashback promotion on Easter. I received a response on October 27th stating:
"Please be informed that Apple has determined that another marketing channel has received a commission. We have made every effort to obtain cashback for your sale; however, Apple has reported that your sale was not attributed to Cashrewards. Consequently, they have declined your transaction for cashback, and their decision is final."
    I lost my $150 cashback.

    • -1

Maybe they’re not fans of AOC stacking

    • Had the same rejection too with a previous purchase but for no clear reason - seems a bit random.

    • +2

I’ve had a few of these from Cashrewards. I feel like these cashback apps are a scam.

    • Likewise, I got the same reply from Cashrewards and lost $150. I made the purchase from AOC during the easter promo. Initially they didn't send me the tracking confirmation email as they usually do. After sending the click history screenshot and invoice, the cashback was added as pending and eventually denied in October. I have had success with AOC purchase through Cashrewards in the past but maybe they stopped it. Anyway Cashrewards did give me a $10 for the hassle.

    • Same here, never had any luck when cashback amount is greater than $50. I decided to delete my CB account after a recent rejection from them.

  • +1

Reached out to TA to see if any deals were coming up and he was delightful

I hear that he is always delightful…

  • Will it work for AOC store?

    • Wanna know too. Please confirm OP

    • But buying from AOC store doesn't give you the bonus giftcards

      • You are correct, but for some configurations might work out cheaper.
I ordered via normal store with gift cards as only $16 more expensive and hopefully I’ll get the cashback.

  • If I buy online through Cashrewards, when and how I am going to receive the apple gift card?

  • can't use employee discount…

    • +1

Doesn’t Tim pay you enough already?!

      • +1

I’m talking my company’s employees program. Not Apple.

  • Will cashback offer still work if i get apple to pricematch an item?

    • You won’t be able to even go through the cashback process if you pricematch, so the answer is no. Pricematch at Apple can only be done over the phone or at the store.

  • Cashback is ineligible on the following:

MacBook Pro 14”, MacBook Pro 16”, iMac 24”, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Hermes, Apple Watch Ultra 2, Apple Pro Display XDR, Purchase of Gift Cards, Apple Developer Programs, AppleCare+, Shipping, Purchases via trade-ins.

  • How do they check your eligibility of the purchase in education store?

    • They didnt so far. But they have terms mentioned that if they find you're not eligible they can request you to pay the gap or return good etc…

  • Is it possible to purchase Apple Gift Cards online with JB Hi-Fi balance?

  • +1

Meh… these used to be no cap. I’ll pass

  • It’s 18% up to $150 over at ShopBack + Westpac.

    • Not 18% for the education store though

    • I think the ShopBack works well for lazy people like me who doesn’t want the hassle with gift card purchasing. Coles probably OOS of TCN anyway.

  • Does this work on click and collect? Have ordered for delivery before but thought I’d check C&C

  • This is too confusing.

Also there is no difference in price for Macbook Air in Education store or main page. Both $1499

    • $1349 on EDU and $1295 on AOC?

  • +2

Cashrewards didn’t payout for an eligible Apple Store purchase that was tracked successfully and met all criteria during the last BF sale. They seem to be pretty hit and miss. Hit for low value items, miss for high value. YMMV

    • This is dodgy sounding. We really should be approaching CR about it because they are making representations to provide a product (the cash back) and not fulfulling it without any reasonable reason. AFAIK that's not in line with consumer law.

    • Seems like you’re not the only one it’s happened to. This is disappointing if you’re doing your sums and relying on your cash back as part of your bargain hunting process

      • Cashback is just a bonus. The icing on top. The cherry on the cake. Everybody knows that. So if you want the cake, then buy the cake

        • +1

So ozbargainers don’t care about 8% saving? What planet are you from? Certainly not ozbargain planet. Hand in your badge.

  • I'm new to Apple , buying MacBook for daughter for year 7 , confused between https://www.apple.com/au-hed/store and this AOC store ppl are talking about.

Does the cashback apply to both education stores?

Also the fine print says "full & part time students aged 18 or over". Surely most students would be under 18, seems weird for an education store.

    • +1

The gift card is only applicable to Apple store and not to Education or AOC (these two are different where one is for student and other is for employer/employee engagement). I will suggest to use cashback from Cashrewards/Shopback and buy it directly from main Apple store. Combining it with Gift card will make it a good deal.

The cashback is only applicable to Education store (not to AOC though people in past have suggested it worked few times)

They never ask for any proof for being an student or age though the condition says so.

      • Just the info I wanted thanks

      • How come on the education store it has a banner for the gift card if its not applicable there?
