Thanks !! See you everyone at the fridge aisle (where all the gift cards will be hidden)

    • +3

I usually find them between pet food.

    • +1

Nah they're in the BBQ section now

    • Is under armor store supported by any of the gift cards? It used to be in the past.

      • +3

Wouldn’t it be quicker to check the gift card website? Or check the list of shops above…

      • +7

I do not think Under Armour has ever featured on the TCN gift card scheme.

I started tracking participating retailers for TCN gift cards in October 2021, and after searching through every revision of the Gift Card FAQ page, I cannot see a specific time over the last two years when the TCN gift card scheme featured Under Armour. Obviously, TCN gift cards have been around before October 2021, but even when I checked a deal from early December 2020, there is no sign of Under Armour.

I can see that Ultimate Active & Wellness (Visa) gift cards have featured Under Armour since at least October 2021, so were you thinking of the Ultimate Active & Wellness gift cards by chance?

        • +2

I've said it before and I'll say it again… you da man!

Yes i must of been thinking of the ultimate A and welness.
These cards can get confusing. Thank you wookiemonster.

    discounted iphone at jb hifi?

    • +8

Yep, assuming you can actually find the relevant TCN gift cards in stock at Coles.

The last three TCN Black Friday gift card deals at Coles have been notorious for gift cards being very hard to find (at least in more heavily populated areas).

      • +1

@WookieMonster It was already difficult to find Ultimate Him/Home $100 gift cards at 10% off at Coles last month. Eventually found some (Home) at the 7th store I rang/went

      • @WookieMonster - Just to reconfirm the T&Cs - do we need to scan Flybuys (registered/temp flybuys?) to qualify for the 15% discount? Will I collect Flybuys points for purchasing? and is there any limits (e.g. can I visit 5 different Coles in a day and buy 5 from each store in the same day).

        Note: just a hypothetical question!

        • +3

I checked T&C details, no mentioned of scanning Flybuys however if you want to.

It is 15% off and no Flybuy points given.

5 cards maximum per customer (Not per calendar day). If you want a 6th card, do it at your own risk.

          • @Dark Zeus: Thanks mate, if no Flybuys points are given at all, then essentially there's no need to even scan. I've previously been collecting points on purchase of the $100/$250 Coles MC/VISA cards so was hoping these TCN cards would also provide some points. Sigh

On the limits - I have 2 Coles near me, so I can probably get 6 (or 10) daily assuming stock is available.

          • @Dark Zeus: How will they actually know?

        • +4

Not required to scan FB to get the 15% disc, however you should since that will net you base pts, so a further 100/250pts per card. Plus it won’t affect (raise) your minimum spend offer going forward too. The last 2 months or so their algorithm for min spend have been total whack, my usual high spend acc got $50min spend and the other low activity acc got $100+ min spend. Have not been buying GCs at all too.

          • @noelhoi: Thanks, that is exactly what I was hoping to hear - whether the base points will apply. The 100/250pts for MC cards I know will be earnt as I've been collecting them in the past but I've never bought a TCN card before from Coles so I'm not sure if these will collect points?

            • +1

@nsingh21: My bad I got sidetracked coz you mentioned Coles MCGC, the base pts will apply to ANY GC as far as I’m aware so these TCN ones should benefit from it as well.

              • @noelhoi: Fingers crossed mate! I'll definitely report back next Wed but if anyone has experience from past, appreciate their input.

              • @noelhoi: @noelhoi @Dark Zeus @mikeadwell - can confirm didn't collect any points from yesterday's purchases. But was able to buy 10 on the same Flybuys.

                • +1

@nsingh21: How can you confirm already? FB pts clears around 4-5pm AEDT the following day.. and ytd was just the first day.. so wait until a bit later mate

                  • +1

@noelhoi: hmm, I've always received points overnight, but will report back again after 5

                    • +1

@nsingh21: Did you check your txn history? Mine tracked fine.

                      • @noelhoi: hey yes, sorry for the late one. Checked and it came through fine!…did indeed get loaded 4-5pm ish

          • +1

@noelhoi: actually, I found that it DID affect my deals offered. I bought quite a lot in Nov last year and it stuffed my flybuys offers for 4 or 5 months afterwards and I had never had that happen before

            • @souths123:

The last 2 months or so their algorithm for min spend have been total whack

You are talkin about Nov last year

              • +1

@noelhoi: your quote above is from someone else?? My offers straight after Nov last year were terrible for 4 or 5 months after that. It fixed it self up after that, but I am not going to scan my FB card for these deals again because of that. Just warning people that it CAN wreck their offers for quite a while. Before that I didn't think it could/would either

      • +1

    • +1

in store there is no limit. I tried 27*100 before and believe someone tried 50+ or 80+ before.

      • You tried and succeeded? Was it painful?

        • +1

Yes, and everything was smooth. I marked all the gift cards from 1 to 30, and used 27 of them. So I swiped 27 times and the store staff was advised about what I was going to do and no issue at all. But I have to say I picked a quiet time to go (around 12pm in a weekday).

Just make sure to tell staff that you are wanting to use a card or eftpos card as a payment method, because the TCN gift cards in this deal featuring JB Hi-Fi operate on the eftpos network. Do not mention anything about gift card as a payment method, because JB Hi-Fi’s checkout system will only let you redeem a JB Hi-Fi gift card if the staff member selects gift card as a payment method.

      Online at www.jbhifi.com.au

You cannot redeem the TCN gift cards in this deal featuring JB Hi-Fi directly on the JB Hi-Fi website, because these TCN gift cards operate on the eftpos network.

However, at the time of writing this comment, you can go to the TCN website and exchange your TCN gift card for a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card. There is no limit to the number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards you can redeem in one online transaction.

Online at other JB Hi-Fi websites (e.g. JB Commercial)

TCN gift cards and JB Hi-Fi gift cards are not redeemable on these websites.

      • +1

Can you exchange TCN gift card for a digital Good Guys gift card? And can you redeem in one online transaction?
        Thanks @WookieMonster

      • Ok that’s cool you can exchange these on tcn to jb gift cards.
After recent last experience which was only a low card and was fixed from a guy on here thanks to yourself all was sorted quickly.
But I have had a lot of gift cards go through my hands over the years and never once experienced any issues scratching off the pin ccv nunber. The ultimate card I had got last felt like fake obvious it was not plastic it was cardboard and it was a tight mess. I ended up rubbing off the numbers.
Is there a preferred way to best rub this off as always used a coin or rounded edge.
But cardboard and that area I had to rub off certain was a nightmare to get off be it Peel off or rub off.
Are tcn cards and ultimate cards all cardboard now as I hate it.
Nothing worse if this happens and you want to grab a deal including this deal on cards.
Lucy for me item I wanted could be had anytime but it was inconvenient at the time by card was messed up though.
Least with this swap tcn card to jb card is digital and easy to use no mess ups with scratching off etc.

      • How can I combine several cards for one transaction please? Like for $1000, how can I use 4x TCN via one eftpos transaction? I'm still confused.

        • +1

You have to ask the operator to split the payments based on the card values - so for example tell them to make the first payment as $100 as you have a $100 card…and they continue to do so according to the card value until the entire balance is paid…

      • "However, at the time of writing this comment, you can go to the TCN website and exchange your TCN gift card for a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card. There is no limit to the number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards you can redeem in one online transaction."

How long does it take to exchange the TCN gift card to a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card? Is it instant?

Looking to purchase the iPad Air which is currently on sale at JB..

        • +2

It should take at most a few minutes for the digital JB Hi-Fi gift card to be emailed to you.

      • +1

Went to JB with 10 HOME cards. Followed instructions. Only 4 out of 10 worked. 6 of 10 were declined after multiple tries. Not good!

        • Are all your TCN gift cards activated?

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Approved shown on Coles receipt and I did wait a while for "activation"

            How else can I check?

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Went to balance check and got

            Balance
            $0.00
            Expiry Date
            1 Jan 0001

            So is it Coles fault?

            • +1

              @FatTofu: Nope.

It’s TCN’s fault, because the gift card has not been activated yet.

Considering the number of reports in this deal of gift cards bought through this deal not being activated yet, it points to TCN’s activation systems being overwhelmed with activation requests from heaps of people buying TCN gift cards this morning at Coles (and other retailers).

When you purchase a gift card at Coles and see the activation on the EFTPOS terminal and/or receipt is approved, it actually only means that the gift card issuer agrees to activate the gift card. It does not necessarily mean that the gift card has been successfully activated at that time. The same thing happens if you buy a gift card at Woolworths, BIG W, ALDI, etc.

              • @WookieMonster: Thanks I wish I knew this earlier and waited for the cards to activate before spending another $600 dollar without discount.

            • +1

@FatTofu: Same happened to me. Just got off call with TCN. What they’ve told me is their systems are crashing from overload and said if I look at the back of the card it says to allow up to 24 hours for the card to get uploaded with the balance. They said it usually happens instantly but that 24hr T&C is for times like this. They also mentioned there’s 2 internal platforms, one for uploading the credit to the card and another one for the online swap to JB hifi and that 2nd platform may take an additional 24 hours.

He might be bullshitting but who knows. FWIW one card I bought this morning which has funds, can’t currently be swapped to JB hifi and comes up with a card number error message

              • @Mungbeans: Thanks for the notice. I will wait till tomorrow then.

                • @FatTofu: @FatTofu had the same issue. $300 of the cards didn't work. Stupid fiasco at JB, hopefully it rectifies itself.

Getting $0 balance when it didn't even go through in the first place.

                  • @youngchinaman: JB staff told me multiple customers had the same issue. This is not uncommon now

            • @FatTofu: Same problem here, I bought 5 cards from Coles this morning and already used 3 of them. The remaining two have zero balance. Called TCN and they asked me to wait until tomorrow.

      • @WookieMonster - when you say swap for digital card, is this really a digital gift card or some sort of voucher? The way its worded on their website is tipping me off.

I'd assume a voucher to be entered where the entire OzB community enters their perks vouchers/coupon codes and is often restricted to one per cart/order vs gift cards which are unlimited redemptions.

        • +1

TCN will send you a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card.

You’re right, “voucher” is the wrong term to use in this scenario.

      • @WookieMonster, can the digital JB Hi-Fi gift card exchanged from TCN used for instore purchases? Or limited to online only?

        • +1

Digital JB Hi-Fi gift cards can be redeemed instore, or online at jbhifi.com.au

      • @WookieMonster Would you know if I can buy Apple gift card at JB using TCN gift card? Or will they object?

        • I see someone doing this so yes you can

        • The JB Hi-Fi checkout system will let you do this.

Whether a staff member will let you do this is a complete mystery. Some will, some won’t.

Call up GG commercial and make an order over the phone, telling them you want to pay in store. Use gift cards in store. Win!

I bought an oven that is sold for $4.5k on GG throught commercial. Paid $2.9k after commercial price and discounted gift cards.

        • I called TGGC yesterday and was unable to get them to allow me to pay in store. When I told the person on the phone I'd read a post online where someone detailed doing just that, he asked where and when I said OzB he said "That's a forum. The guy's lying".

I also e-mailed TGGC last week and asked the same thing and the email hasn't attracted a reply.

I gave up and bought at the GCC which, minus 15%, is still better than TGGC.

          • @SteveB00: If you followed these instructions for trying to get a quote via email and have got nowhere, I wonder whether TGG is clamping down on people using discounted gift cards for purchases through their Commercial store…

            • @WookieMonster: I'd say you're right. I initially tried the process described in that post, but the email address provided is no longer valid.
