  • Had problems with my Shell card at my local coles express last time, card did not stack with linkt discounts

    • +1

Isn’t paying card the last step before total is discounted?

      • yep, cant have happened :)

      • Terminal was giving error saying wrong brand, they cashier said to remove discount and it went through. Also did not work at another Coles Express but worked at a different one. Totally random, called support and they said they don't know why

  • Thanks OP. Make sure you use the correct link to the upsized 6% gift cards.

  • Guessing this will work at the several hundred newly shell otr stores in Sa too.

    • Yes, have used it a few times now. Just tap and pay like a Visa card when stored in Google wallet.

    • The Shell fuel finder(shell.com.au) says:

      • This gift card works at all OTR service stations in SA, including OTR service stations still using BP branding.

      • This gift card does not work at a handful of OTR service stations outside of SA, including Shell OTR Broken Hill (NSW) and Caltex OTR Hamilton (VIC).

    Thanks OP

I got them swapped to Coles gift card from Shell using google wallet last time. Seamless.

    Thanks OP.

    • You bought Coles gift cards at Shell with them?

      • Following

      • Yep. WookieMonster confirmed some Shell stations allow it.

You go pick up a card and tell them you pay by card and just use google or apple pay.

        • How do we check which stores allow for this?

          • +1

@firestint: I think it's arbitrary. There is no rule on the terminal to block but just the person at checkout.

            • @djsydney: With the physical shell gc, it the terminal blocked the payment stating wrong card brand

              • @Mortin: Oh I have never had a physical gift card. Thanks for the info 😊

@thestig @djsydney Many Shell Coles/Reddy Express service stations sell Coles Group & Myer gift cards. The checkouts should let you use a Shell eGift Card to purchase a Coles Group & Myer gift card, and you only need to ask to pay by card to use a Shell eGift Card. Keep in mind this is against the Shell Gift Card terms and conditions(shell.com.au), so if the staff member sees your phone screen and decides to enforce the terms and conditions, they can stop you.

@WookieMonster: Just went and used my 2 x $100 Shell Gift Cards to buy 2 x $100 Coles Myer Gift Cards at Reddy Express Bicton (WA). Then went to Officeworks to pay for my Switch 2 preorder :)

    • Works always

  • only see $50 at 6% now

    • I bought multiple of them

  • Shell $50/$100 showing as 1.5% only for me.

The card doesn’t show balance. Have to keep track myself

    • +1

      yeah pain

    • Need to do some mental arithmetic from the activity. At least that is for Google Wallet. Not sure about Apple Pay.
Otherwise, it's better than Ampol Cash where the Passes app has a huge delay in updating the balance. I have to keep a spreadsheet to track the balance.

    • if I spend $50-$99.99 I tell the staff I have got a $50 gift card, and pay the rest with my credit card, they are usually happy to split it for me. Same if I spend more than $100. by looking back to the purchase history in my Apple wallet, I can easily check how much is left.

  • Thanks OP. Only $50 left.

    • all sold
