Yeah it's not so much that 2c/km is a deal breaker. It's that we all know it's the starting point!

      • +6

I know right… the "most progressive" state government slugs EV drivers an extra tax per kilometre…

The tax was 2.5 cents per km.
Today (01 July 2023) it's increased to 2.8 cent per km

Also… Victoria did have a EV subsidy, was meant to cover 20,000 vehicles.
But the government quietly announce it was ending early (30 June 2023) after only about 7,500 vehicles.

Just a couple of indications of just how bad things are in Victoria.
… soon to return to being the Rust Bucket State.

They should do it nationally and scrap fuel tax, but there is too much politics in the way.

Couldn’t take delivery before 30/6, bonus discount!

I was gonna buy a Tesla but then I saw this

  • Still deciding whether to get Tesla Model Y or wait for VW id4 which launching next year

    • Go VW!

    • -4

BYD all the way for best value :)

    • +2

Have you seen the videos of all the problems with the VW software?

People have returned the vehicles the problems are that bad.

      • Checked on the reviews in YT and looks like VW have fixed most software issues with OTA updates from v3.0 and 3.1 (released around few months ago)

        • Reminds me of the MS Windows upgrade from v3.0 to 3.1

  • 2023 teslas removed the uss and now their sensors are trash https://youtube.com/shorts/mUXtWGY1y90?feature=share3

Is there still a $6000 government rebate in QLD?

    • +1

      Yasssss

      • +6

        Yass is in NSW

    • +1

$3000 or $6000 depending on total family income.

      • Do you know the income threshold?

        • I did read it but can’t remember .. maybe $120k?. Not sure.

Edit. It’s on the Tesla site

          State Government Requirements Include:
          Annual Gross Income Limitations
$180,000 total gross household income to qualify for a $6,000 rebate
No total gross household income limitations to qualify for a $3,000 rebate

          • @PVA: Not for novated lease though :(

            • @plasmapuff: The fed gov waves the FBT if you go novated lease, which equates to approx around $6k. From memory the ev has to be around $85k or less drive away price..

              https://youtu.be/wlzDXKOrx-0

              • @BlitzR: 89k now and the LCT is based on the vehicle price, including the Goods and Services Tax (GST), any options fitted, and dealer delivery charges. So not the drive away price (which also includes state fees and taxes)

            • @plasmapuff: If you have the cash upfront couldn't you buy the car, collect the rebate, and then do a novated lease?

  • Vehicle Subtotal (including GST) $59,200
Includes delivery fee of $1,400 and order fee of $400

Lol dude chill?? Not a flex.

People work hard to buy something they like, how is that a flex? You may want to buy something else, everyone is different. 😄

      You have a good day!

      • -3

ofc it is, this whole post is not here so someone would buy this car, its here for you to talk about your new toy
you can see by the comments - all Tesla owners bragging, sad really

        • Lol dude you have some issues. I just wrote I was browsing through the net as I’m waiting for my car to arrive then found out the price reduced significantly. $7k saving who wouldn’t like that? You are sad for saying all these stuff, get a life mate. Maybe this place isn’t for you.

          • -1

@sauce2k: nah this place is just for me, I usually come here to buy me a $70k car each week

            • @botchie: Oh damn how sad are you! Stop bragging

      ^ you’re ^

    • +1

Dude, your jealousy is showing. No one else is thinking this. Seriously.

      • -1

Haha, yeah I'm jealous I can't join the teals club with my electric car that's saving the environment

        • most people are not buying to save the environment .. buying because they are better than current model BMW and Mercedes.

          • @matt-ozb: People can buy what they want , why don't we see BMW or marcedes deals on Oz bargain ? It's full of Tesla's and reading through them shows why.

        • They don’t care about the environment mate. You’re the one that keeps repeating ‘teals club’ for some reason.

    • Different people think differently Dude, just chill😎

  • Where are Model Y and 3 assembled?

  • +4

Damn. Ordered in Jan and delivered early Jun. Well, that's life :(

    • +13

Buy another one to average down?

    • Hopefully, via novated lease?

      • Yeah via NL, but this price reduction doesn't have any effect on my NL repayment…

        • I literally just picked mine up on Thursday! NL as well. If only I had just waited an extra day or two for pickup. Apparently if your invoice hasn't settled and you're due to pick up anytime now Tesla will amend the invoice to the cheaper pricing.

        • I was waiting for July 1 increase on LCT to get an Ioniq 5.
Keen on your thoughts on fee breakdown via NL
Even on ICE cars, the amount for tyres far exceed normal RRP.
Hopefully maintenance fees are zero for Tesla.
But these leasing companies prob add it in a different category.

          • +1

@0806449: you only pay for what you spend in a novated lease.

if you want a smaller budget for tyres in your lease, just tell them. Worst case is that you top-up mid-lease and adjust payments to align with actual expenditure.

            • @matt-ozb: Cheers @matt-ozb
Hope the maintenance fee charged is zero or close to

              • +1

@0806449: Also watch out for all the excessive insurances! .. scratch and dent, redundancy insurance, etc

Only $300 for elec in my lease .. hope that's enough otherwise have to do some simple paperwork to adjust payments later.

    • +1

      Same shit

  • If I signed on with novated lease company, and have yet to receive the car, can I get them to reduce the costs of the car?

    • +1

Did you get the text about the price reduction? Tesla will also reissue an amended invoice with the reduced price. Just flick that on to your lease company.

      • +3

Exactly this. The NL company will go by the final invoice from Tesla which should reflect the reduced price.

    • Yes

  • Thx, Was happy to get this drop even though I have already ordered. SMS from Tesla as long as you have not paid it off in full.

Today, the base price of Model Y in Australia has been updated, making the path to Tesla ownership more affordable.

We are pleased to advise that your order is eligible for the updated pricing, your Motor Vehicle Order Agreement and Final Invoice will reflect this change accordingly in the coming days; no further action is required.

To think I almost paid it off yesterday.

    • I think the reduction applies irrespective if you’ve paid or not. If you haven’t taken delivery you get an amended price and invoice. I’m in a weird situation where I ordered inventory stock with the 6% discount (where the stock apparently wasn’t really in inventory) had a fast delivery estimate, paid in full only to see my date slip and be told that the car is still on a boat somewhere. I lodged a query given I had already paid as the luxury car tax rate changed today and was told I’d receive a refund of a portion of the lct and the invoice would be reissued, Meanwhile price drops today and I got the text about a further reduction to my order so I’m very curious to see what the end reduction will be given the vehicle was already heavily discounted at time of order.

      TLDR
Anyone else in this situation? bought reduced price inventory stock, undelivered and received text about reduction? What is the reduction?

      • That doesn’t seem to be teslas previous practice, if you’ve paid and get a discount you might have got lucky. They mention it here https://www.drive.com.au/news/tesla-cuts-prices-in-australia…

“ The US electric-car specialist has historically passed on price cuts to buyers who have placed an order for a Tesla at the higher price, and have yet to pay in full for the vehicle.”

        • +1

I’ll keep you updated. I actually cancelled an existing order, forfeiting the $400 order fee on that order and then had to pay it again to order the “inventory” car at the reduced price with faster delivery, which turns out was slower delivery as the car wasn’t really in “inventory”, all of this seems weird business practice, now this weirdness on possible further reductions or maybe not…..

          • +1

@jason101: If the car is manufactured and on a boat, then it is inventory. Don't blame Tesla for inefficient and expensive port logistics.

Everyone knows 'inventory' is generally on a ship .. plenty of comments around the various tesla websites.

            • @matt-ozb: Fair point but when the "anticipated delivery date" is the day of order to 1 week or so ahead, and confirmed by phone that its "within a couple of weeks at most" - prompting me to pay in full, then the date slips by 1+ months and then suddenly its "on the boat"…. I think its a bit rough, particularly in the circumstance where I had a "June-July" delivery non inventory order which I cancelled (and lost my order fee) in order to get product faster. In the end I guess I am better off as my original order "may" have been delivered already and I would have missed the reduction today.

        • +3

Can confirm the discount today is passed on to already paid, non delivered orders, my invoice has been reissued with the reduction - so really I can't be complaining about delays given a double discount is applied (June inventory stock discount + July 1 price reduction). Thanks Elon.

  • Great car especially when produced in China, quality never fails!

    • +2

Sarcasm? If yes, the made in US cars were worse lol. And what's not being made in China these days?

    • +1

      Just like the iphones.

    • +1

My made in China Model 3 Performance has zero issues. $30k kms in and couldn’t be happier with the purchase.

  • -4

I'm not even going to comment.

  • -4

Price drop for the ugliest cars in automotive history? Very overdue.

  • +1

A bit annoying that the Y Performance is just a smidge over the efficient vehicle luxury car tax threshold! Kills the FBT tax exemption but is oh so close!

    • Wait to see the discounts filter through the store inventory stock as the stock ages, I waited for inventory stock to roll from 3% to 6% discount (see above, before cancelling an existing order) and now with todays further reduction applied, the order is below LCT and it's been removed from my invoice.

    • It's all pretty confusing, but the Tesla website states in QLD the $68000 limit excludes delivery fees. Meaning you can change colour and still be under the limit?

The QLD government offers a $3,000 or $6,000 rebate on new zero emission vehicles with a Vehicle Subtotal (dutiable value) of $68,000 or less (including GST, excluding Delivery Fees). Electric and hybrid vehicles pay reduced stamp duty.

  • +1

I was literally in the Tesla showroom when this was announced and the salesmen were so excited haha

  • +2

This now brings the Model Y price below the NSW threshold for the -$3000 rebate - as last week it was over the magical number of $68,750 which is the total price threshold before it is not available… very tempting!!

    • Quick question - I assume we need to apply the rebate separately through an application?

        • It says first 25,000 - hate those type of “offers” when you never know if your going to be the one to buy when it’s suddenly allocations exhausted

          • +1

@dammit: Sure. The site also says
“ As of 31st May 2023, 7,128 rebates have been paid out of the 25,000 rebates”.

      • Do vehicles bought through novated lease qualify for the NSW rebate?

  • -3

    Thanks OP, bought zero
