Better value if you buy a MG4.
Why not buy a Toyota instead.
New gen Camry just released is the OzB way.
Still overpriced
A Yaris is 32k if you want overpriced.
I thought for a sec $10,000.00 drive away price…
According to Redbook"
37% depreciation in first year selling privately (73k > 46k)
50% depreciation in first year if trading in (73k > 36k)
Does the used market know something the new market doesnt?
Yes - it knows Used Skoda Superbs are a great deal.
If you were thinking about buying a new one, then just buy a year old model for literally half the price !
I have owned the Superb for 3 years. One of the best cars I have every driven. Boot size is huge, filled with luxury. It's just that the brand is not famous. I would buy a 2nd one in a heart beat. It get serviced at Audi. 1500 for 4 years of service and they car drives great.
Same, bought a used octavia 3 years ago and would buy another. So far no issues and have put an additional 90,000km on it. No issues to speak of at 170,000km on the odometer. Was a relative 'bargain' at the time as well in the used market
We've owned a heap of Skoda vehicles across ourselves and our children. Fabia (2), Octavia (3) & Superb (1); Petrol (3) and diesel (3).
Currently have an RS Octavia and a son in Switzerland is driving an AWD diesel Superb.
Great to drive. Only downside has been the cost of parts as the cars get older. As others have noted - depreciation is nasty. But then, all of our cars have been 2nd hand. In the early days of the 'new' (ie. VAG) Skodas, 2nd hand units were a brilliant buy. Prices have been higher (esp. new) in recent times than we have wanted to pay.
Is it true these emit poisonous gas and require frequent oil changes with the highly toxic oil being a great burden on the environment?
The Skoda Superb is practically a rolling chemical plant
True, but over its lifetime its still likely way better than a Tesla or a BYD.
EV batteries are pretty toxic too, mining lithium pollutes air, soil and water. They still require oil, rubber, coal (makes steel), to produce. And electricity generation even from "green" power still has these costs too. Basically any consumer product is still (profanity) the planet.
Real OzBargainers take the bus!
Walk/hitch-hike!
New model coming next year, so expect a big depreciation hit (although the discount will dull the pain).
$70k for a Skoda……..
