  • How much is Zeekr 009? Have they announced?

    • +4

Zeekr is offering it in either seven-seat or six-seat configurations, priced at $135,900 and $139,900 before on-road costs,

I was a little keen myself but then I saw the price.

      • +5

If this is the price then yes I am not keen anymore

Lol same as alphard bro. But what do you get after buying alphard?

          • @overlook: Well, this is a new brand just coming into Australia. Will they stay here after 1 year? Who knows. After sales service will be a concern too to spend this much on a new brand like this.

            • -1

@SR9: Lol maybe do abit of research? They part of Volvo umbrella, aiming that luxury population too

              • @overlook: Luxury population = Ozbargainers

                • @U30004: Penny pinching = luxury affordability

                • @U30004: Whoever buying this car I guess…as opposed to buying alphard and still have to pay fuel for a year. This is free fuel for a year?

      • Top range in china is selling for slightly under A$100k atm. This will be almost double the price including on road costs and LCT, which is closer to a new/demo Porsche Cayenne or BMW X7…

Still waiting for a big brand motorcycle that suits my needs.

These brand names, I just cant. Zeekr! XPeng! Geely!

"Yea mate I drive a Zee-kAh." "WTF? Where'd you pick that up, Aldi special buys?"

These companies should really take a page out of MGs book. Find some long defunct European, British or American badge, buy the brand name, sell Chinese cars internationally under that name.

These brand names, I just cant. Zeekr! XPeng! Geely!

      Don't forget Deepal

    • +4

Why? Worked out ok for Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda, Hyundai, Audi, Mercedes, Volvo (now onwed by Geeky) etc

      I mean "Howdee", really ?

If they stick around it just becomes part of rhe background.

      • Most people don't know how to pronounce Hyundai correctly in 2024.

and all of those names are waaayyy better than Build Your Dreams

      • +1

Ironically that was their attempt at making their Chinese name, Biyadi, sound more appealing.

    • +4

A lot of the Chinese companies being released here are sub-brands of a manufacturer. Like VW, Skoda, Cupra are related . They have different tiers too. Many legacy brands are now affiliated with Chinese manufacturers to share technology and avoid high tariffs. Some of their names are a bit funky, perhaps aimed at the youthful, cashed-up middle class. Remember though, the Chinese market is gigantic compared to us and many other locations, so the name needs to resonate with Chinese and have a meaning.

Here are some brands and their sub-brands:
      1. Geely (Zhejiang Geely Holding Group)

      • Geely (main brand)
      • Lynk & Co (a joint venture with Volvo, focused on youth-oriented, connected cars)
      • Geometry (dedicated electric vehicle (EV) brand)
      • Zeekr (premium electric vehicle brand)
      • Lotus (British sports car brand owned by Geely)

      1. BYD (Build Your Dreams)

        • BYD Auto (main passenger car brand)
        • Denza (joint venture with Mercedes-Benz, focusing on luxury EVs)
        • Yangwang (high-end off-road and luxury electric vehicles)

      2. Great Wall Motors (GWM)

        • Haval (SUV-focused brand)
        • WEY (premium SUV brand)
        • ORA (electric car brand, known for retro-styled EVs)
        • TANK (rugged off-road SUV brand)

      3. SAIC Motor Corporation

        • MG (British heritage brand, now known for EVs and SUVs)
        • Roewe (main domestic brand, known for sedans and SUVs)
        • IM Motors (premium EV brand in partnership with Alibaba)
        • Feifan (Rising Auto) (high-end EV brand)

    • Yes, they did exactly that.

About mid 2010s all the Chinese autos went on international buying sprees for defunct brands. They bought them all.

Geely purchased Volvo, Polestar (premium Volvo, like a Lexus or Audi) and Lotus.

Zeekr is the new luxury EV brand within the Geely stable. It's competing with BMW and the recent Hyundai premium brand Gensis. The playbook for creating a new premium in-house brand is always new name. It feels fresh, than dated. Doesn't come with baggage such as buying a Jaguar.

    • For what purpose? Only older people knew of MG when it was re-birthed, and we remember what an abortion they were for quality.

If they launch the 7 and give free charging that would be solid.

Also be able to claim 4.2c from pretax

Zeekr X looks like something that Citroen would have come up with…. I kinda like it

  • Waiting for the 001!

  • +1

they had the X at Garden City Qld, too bad the mall would not allow them to unlock the doors… price was $60k++

    • most likely due to the incident in a sydney mall where some kid was able to start driving the electric car on display and ended up running a few shoppers over.

  • Pricing
    Model Price before on-roads
    2025 Zeekr 009 7 Seat AWD $135,900

  • read that the zeekr x and the volvo ex30 is practically the same car just with different exterior panels. the volvo ex30 looks much nicer though. Both looks to be priced identical.

  • Spending 140k + on road for a Chinese made car… I m not too sure about that

    • Free charging though 😜
