Really good price for the Swift Sport. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one as my chuck around car.

    • +6

I’ve got it as my one car for everything. It was either that or buy a cheap daily and a weekender. Didn’t want to pay two regos and two insurances! It’s so fun, can chuck it around corners with ease, it’s surprisingly quick too! So much fun and highly recommend it!

      • +5

Yeah works well as a daily too. But more importantly for this money range nothing touches it in fun.

      delivered by 30th November 2024.

So discount only applies on current stock sitting there?
If I purchase on 29/11, how can it be delivered by 30/11…?

      • These offers are only available at participating Suzuki automobile dealers and only available on current new or demonstrator dealership stock.

Thanks. I only buy Manual Transmission.
Definitely no current stock for me then.
          No deal. :(

@AsukaST: manual Jimny - legendary value fun offroader - And great bonus is it avoids being stolen as none of the derelict kids know how to drive a stick!

…but sadly I'd never buy an unrated potentially still 3 star ANCAP rating car as the last model was

With lack of proper electric or hybrids, and lacking safety tech - I fear Suzuki is getting left behind in the car market and may fade into obscurity against cheap Chinese electric car competition for most of its line up.

        • This is the kicker.
I know for a 3dr jimny I could only find one on Sydney for this deal last year (it was a lite and I had an XL on order)
I think 5dr supply (in auto) is available so people should be able to get a Jimny for 10% off.
But otherwise for the Jimny, consider this deal unobtanium.

    • +4

Why? What's wrong.. pls elaborate for ppl planning to buy

      • +5

A XL? Roof starts to make noises in hot sun and issues with paint around corners of the roof/rails cracking.

Made in India seems to have no other adverse effects on the mechanical reliability.

        • What about the standard 3dr jimny & lite. Any known issues?

I've always found Suzuki mechanically reliable, low maintenance and cheap to run.

          • +2

@stickymoo: Yeah Suzuki is the way to go these days it seems. I bought an Ignis back in January. Fantastic car. Easy to maintain too

          • +1

            @stickymoo: 3dr owner.

Suzuki is definitely all of those things. Suzuki is a glory day 90s Toyota, and grossly underappreciated.

But yes that's basically a common thread - in an era of factories thinning out paint jobs, the Jimny is a particular standout for dogshit thin paint. Some people have had it worse than others. I PPF'd front and sides - kinda (really) stupid for this type of car, but hey I love this dumb little meme car like you wouldn't believe.

        • Is this a problem?. Yes it does exist.
But plenty of these aren’t exhibiting these issues.
I’ve had mine for nearly a year and haven’t had any tapping or paint issues (outside of it being Suzuki soft).
Another case of a vocal (albeit slightly larger) minority being vocal. I do think Suzuki Australia handling of this has been actual scum.

I was wondering, how can a hybrid be that cheap? Answer:

"It’s not really a hybrid, and doesn’t drive like one"

      It also needs 95 premium.

I have a bigger battery in my ebike ;)

Jokes aside it is 360 watt hour battery. 1 years use would be the equivalent of 20 year of battery cycles in a BEV

    • But if you what you care about is the fuel consumption, the mild-hybrid Swift is pretty good (better than the MG3 hybrid, worse than the much more expensive Yaris hybrid).

  • +22

"Oops we ripped everyone off over covid, better reduce prices a bit"

Prices can often drop during the production cycle for each model

      • Don't quote me but wasn't the Jimmy around 25k on release? then it became wildly popular and they bumped the price 3 times in like 6ish months to like 32k.

        I have a 2door Jimmy, kinda want a 4door still too…and whinge about it.

        • That's wild demand driving the price up, very different mechanism from production efficiencies lowering manufacturing costs.

          • -1

@Ryk: Yeah, the Jimny just kept selling out, so why wouldn't they increase the price

Got the Ignis GL back in March and it’s auto. MG has more safety features but reliability is problematic. The Ignis is made in Japan but the line is being retired next year. Also has a CVT but given it is a 1.2L car, reviewers online say that they don’t see any issues with it.

I’d go the Ignis based on reliability. But if safety features are more important go the MG

It the better car after 8 months. The fuel savings after 8 months will be astronomical with 10 years warranty.

          • +4

@ChickenAdobo: Swift doesn’t use much fuel.

            • @Brick Tamland: It still a lifetime fuel subscription beholden to an oil cartel. If petrol was 5 dollars tomorrow the low fuel usage will still be painful.

I’m paying less than 6 dollars for overnight charge or less than 3 bucks with solar for every 280-350 km depending on where I drive like freeway/suburbian only. My wife car is an ice hatch with a 40 dollars subscription to shell every Tuesdays.

The ongoing cost add up on her car.

              • @ChickenAdobo: If you compared to charging at public EV chargers the costs would be about the same. Yes home charging will be cheaper but not everyone has ability to charge at home or the luxury of solar panels.

          • +2

@ChickenAdobo: What you save on fuel can go towards repairs once the warranty is finished. The little Suzuki will run forever and a day.

            • +2

@JIMB0: Ice mechanical parts don’t run forever otherwise my dad Datsun will still be alive today…

              • @ChickenAdobo: Owning a car for 20 odd years is near enough to forever.

          • +1

@ChickenAdobo: Yeah mate but when the warranty is up you’ll be dealing with it falling apart..

        • How and where did you get this price? I thought it went up to $32,990

      This

    • This

  • Is this better than Yaris hybrid and havel cars?

    • +4

Yaris hybrid is a Proper hybrid with EV mode. This one should not be called a hybrid, a little more than a stop start engine system. So difference is night and day. Even Havel hybrids are proper hybrids compared to Suzuki. Having said that Suzuki reliability is pretty good, pretty close to that of Toyota I'd say (Toyota owns some decent percentage of Suzuki shares anyways).

      • What is a proper hybrid? After having the Yaris hybrid as a hire car all we got was a lot of noise and vibrations when we wanted to go a bit faster

        • +1

Actual hybrids have electric motor/s that will run off a battery at low speeds, then petrol engine kicks in when needed.

          • @heef: Thanks. I’m not sure I want a proper hybrid if the Yaris is the benchmark. It’s truly awful to drive. Absolutely horrible in fact. Sure it’s nippy at the lights but when the charge in the battery is depleted the petrol motor is harsh, noisy and weak.

            • +1

@choofa: It's the small engine. Is it a three cylinder? A family member has a hybrid Yaris Cross and it is definitely noisier (in an irritating way) than my hybrid C-HR, which is a four cylinder.

        • +2

Proper hybrid should have an EV mode that car can be driven solely on battery power for at least a couple of hundred metres (which Suzuki doesn't have). The issues you describe has nothing to do with Yaris being hybrid. It's more to do with,

          1) Yaris is Toyota's most affordable hybrid (noisy engine, less sound isolation and much less powerful engine/electric motor)

          2) It has got 3 cylinder engine (gutless and noisy, what do you expect from a three cylinder engine?)

If you want to experience nicer hybrid try a corolla with 1.8 engine, really nice car. If you want a bit more power try corolla cross with 2.0 engine (which does 0-100 in 7.6 seconds which isn't ground breaking by any means but not bad for a petrol car with 4.8L/100 km fuel economy).

          • @npnp: I’ve also driven a rav4 and found almost the same experience. Horribly rough and underpowered once the battery is depleted.

            • +1

@choofa: I'm very interested in knowing which you are comparing these against with? Are you saying RAV4 is horribly rough and underpowered compared to Suzuki Swift!? Or a similar SUV that does 5 L/100 km? Or you are comparing that with a Benz that costs twice as much and consumes twice as fuel. Genuinely curious. (Yes RAV4 is horribly rough compared to my bamboo mattress for an example😂)

              • +4

@npnp: Look through his posts. He is an EV tragic who talks BS about hybrids and will put them down when really they are brilliant.

                • +1

@x d: That makes more sense now.. Honestly that's the first time I've ever heard someone said RAV4 hybrid is horribly rough and underpowered lol. I should have known straightaway that it's an EV troll.

                  • @npnp: Ok so i might be trolling a bit. But that’s because 25 years ago i owned a swift gti and it is still the most fun car I’ve ever owned. It was awesome. And recently I drove a Yaris hybrid and I honestly thought it was terrible. Just not fun at all. So it’s not really because I am an EV fan. It’s that I am not a fan of hybrids. They are taking the fun out of cars

                • +2

@x d: Hybrids Brilliant? Absolutely not. The swift sport sound like a brilliant fun little car. The rav4 is very nice to drive but that petrol
Motor is rough and noisy. The Yaris was bloody awful though

              • +1

@npnp: Just it is rough and noisy when you put your foot down. It’s nice and smooth and nippy at the lights but that doesn’t last long

            • +2

@choofa: BS. Ex-owner of a Rav4 hybrid and now driving a TM3. EV fanatics are something else!

              • +1

@x d: Did you ever put your foot down in the rav4?it’s a nice car to cruise around in but it’s rough and noisy when you plant your foot

                • @choofa: Again just more BS. It's pretty much the same drive train that is used in the Lexus ES hybrid so rough and noisy it's not. So continuing on shows more how bad EV fanatics or Toyota haters can get.

Yes Toyota hybrids are brilliant. That's why when people try them they generally buy them. They are getting even more popular than EV's. The only reason why EV's are selling is because of tax breaks. If FBT exemption for EV's are pulled, the market for EV's will crash.

                  • +1

@x d: That’s your opinion. Mine is different. I bet you I can find a review that agrees with me.

                    • @choofa: Sure. As long as people who read your opinion knows that you are an EV tragic trolling.

                      • +2

                        @x d: I’m sorry I’ve upset the Toyota fanbois.
                        Truth hurts huh?
                        I am an ev fan
And definitely not a hybrid fan

                        • @choofa: Funny that I now drive an EV but still think the Toyota hybrids are brilliant. Sad that EV fanatics even take time out to troll.

There is no truth in your comments so what hurts?

                        • @choofa: Why are EV fans so anti hybrid?

                          • @Brick Tamland: I don’t think they are in general. I’ve just never driven a hybrid that was actually a fun car to drive. When you want to have fun the power is gone and is replaced with noise.

                            • @choofa: Most of them aren’t meant to be fun or meant to be driven flat out.

                              • @Brick Tamland: Exactly, that is my point.
The Suzuki swift not being a hybrid is not necessarily a bad thing. The swift sport is a fun type of car and the Yaris hybrid is basically the complete opposite.

                      • +1

@x d: So look first review I find says the same thing I’ve said
                        https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-reviews/2024-toyota-rav4-hy…
“It does make a bit of racket when you have the engine kicking in under hard throttle, and it can be a bit noisy at idle when it’s cold, I should add. But I think the noise is more noticeable because it often runs in near-silent EV mode.”

                        • @choofa: LOL. I hope people click on the link to see how brilliant the RAV4 is on review.

The noise is only compared to when it's in EV mode. It's not rough or noisy compared to any ICE cars. And the comments about the motor being weak is laughable.

                          • +1

@x d: This isn’t even an EV discussion. It started because someone said the Suzuki swift isn’t even a proper hybrid. I think that is a good thing. I think the swift sport would be an awesome fun car to drive. The Yaris hybrid is definitely not.
So I was probably a bit harsh on the rav4 and yes I was trolling a bit. But what I said about the Yaris is true.

                            • -1

@choofa: Yeah nah. I'm calling it out as it is. You were outright trolling. Never drove the Yaris hybrid but I would not take a word you said about it being horrible compared to its competitors.

                • +1

@choofa: I completely agree. We have a RAV4 hybrid as the family whip and I drive a Model 3 for my work commute. The RAV4 is a good car in every way except for the NVH of the engine when you need some power.

I drove a 2010 Prius for 11 years and was hoping they had fixed that very same issue, alas not.

                  Great car otherwise though.

          • @npnp: last I looked I think the Toyota Hybrid turned on the petrol engine at anything over 30kph - so silent and no vibrations were only when stopped or inching in traffic jams ?

sounds like this Suzy is basically like the Peugeot I drove in France - when you stopped the engine did, and when you moved off the engine restarted - I found that kinda annoying.
