          • @stmgr: I don't have the card yet so don't know if you can BPay directly from it within NAB internet banking.

BeemIt recently stopped accepting credit cards for BPay payments so that loophole is closed. You would have to use Sniip or one of the other paid services now and most of them charge a surcharge in excess of the points return. I guess for a bonus spend it might be worth it if you really want to spend it fast but I'd be very impressed if you're not spending $1000 on general spend in 2 months anyway.

            • @daanish:

BeemIt recently stopped accepting credit cards for BPay payments so that loophole is closed

fark, didn't know this.. that's terrible

Bundll was another great option for getting around these things but that's closed now also.

              • @bohn: According to a comment from hours ago in the Beem BPay thread the BPay with credit card option is back on the table. I don't have Beem It set up to check but might be one of those things were Beem went to ground off the bad TikTok press and have confirmed with legals that they're in the clear.

                https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/777259

Hopefully other people can check and report back too.

            • @daanish: You can bpay directly from within the app, I haven't received the card yet but already used BPAY.

              • @nadan: I don't think you get points for this though

                • @Moo Deng: Hmm I can't find any info regarding bpay so it is at their discretion with that general clause.

                  • @nadan: Yeah, this is why im confused. I know i can use bapy but not sure if its rewarded.

But thats ok. My 2 months groceries and train fraes will cover 1000$ easily.

  • Whats people's thoughts on everyday use for this credit card? and can someone please comment if the app/netbank associated with this credit card allows you to schedule bpay bill in advance? My current one dont dont allow >.<

As someone pointed out earlier. Isn't it better to save it as NAB rewards points if you want gift cards? 120k NAB rewards converts to ~$600 but if it autoconverts to Velocity you only get ~$300 worth. If you sign up without linking your Velocity will you still get the bonus points after meeting spend crtieria?

    • Account must be enrolled in auto-redemption to Velocity Frequent Flyer at the time of points allocation to be awarded the bonus points.

    • Just set a high threshold for auto redemption so that you never reach the threshold before the bonus pays out.

      • did you try?

        • Not for this card but it worked for another previous points hack deal - ANZ plainum - where the t&c were from memory identical to this.

It's about setting up auto redemption, not actually triggering the auto redemption. Does that makes sense?

          • +1

@circle9nine: Does make sense. you are very kind to reply.

          • +1

@circle9nine: "It's about setting up auto redemption, not actually triggering the auto redemption. Does that makes sense?'

could you clarify what you mean by this, I dont quite follow

            • @bawlingonabudget: If you want to keep the points you earn as you spend in your nab point balance (and avoid them being auto redeemed into velocity points at a bs conversation rate) the idea is that youd set up auto redemption so it will only happen at a trigger that you're never going to reach. Means you qualify for the bonus points and can redeem the whole lot through the nab program - probably for gift cards.

              • @circle9nine: So does it come down to your preference of using it doe gift cards or flights to choose if nab points or velocity is better?

                • +1

@Robot16: id say so, though converting to velocity seems a pretty bad deal imo

              • @circle9nine: thanks for clearing that up; however, if someone does tend to convert into velocity points, setting this trigger to an unreachable amount is kind of unnecessary?

                • @bawlingonabudget: the conversion rate is pretty poor though. if youre after velocity points, there are much better cards out there

                  • @circle9nine: oh bummer…thats not good to hear - got 2 questions for you if that's alright?

                    1) what would be best value for this specific card?
                    2) which cards you recommend for velocity points?

                    • +4

@bawlingonabudget: earning 60k velocity for an annual fee of $95 isn't too bad.
                      I wouldn't keep it long-term

                      • +2

@bohn: @bawlingonabudget:actually @bohn is right. it's a decent deal. i had for some reason thourght these were nab rewards points which convert to velocity at 2:1.

                      • @bohn: when you frame it like that, very true!

  • Instant approval with existing ANZ 6k credit card

  • i just got instant approval

  • +1

Pointhacks values Velocity points at 1.8c. That means for the second year you'd be paying $195 annual fee for approx $180 worth of bonus points

    • +3

Which is why u cancel as soon as you get the points or before the 13 th month

  • This is a good card. Approval was quick and points accredited quickly after hitting the min spend. Used the card to pay an ATO bill via Sniip and once I hit the min spend was credited to velocity points a week later.

    • Did you get any NAB reward points accrued before it converted to Velocity? I'm looking to convert to gift cards because the conversion rate is 2x better than for Velocity points.
The terms say it can take up to 10 days to convert to Velocity so hopefully I will have time to convert the NAB reward points for gift cards before it auto converts.

      • +1

Yeah I think so, I had about 122000 NAB reward points in my account which sat there for about a week before auto converting to Velocity yesterday.

  • how long did it take for people to get the email about velocity number?

  • Not bad. Though, I'm hoping Amex will have 100k+ velocity points when I'm ready to apply for credit cards again.

  • If you have recently been approved for Virgin Money credit card would that exclude you from this? Since that is also via NAB?

    • I'm in the same boat. My Virgin Flyer is 2 months old and had no problem getting this one but I requested a low credit limit (7K). Min credit limit is 6K.

  • +1

prob the best and easiest credit card app process i have experienced. took 15 mins to apply approved instantly, had the credit card activated and in apple pay within 20 mins. called them up to link my VFF number.

    • +3

disagree from my end. conditionally approved pending income verification. sent immediately. text the next day saying case officer has opened and i would have a response in 24-48 hours. 4 days later nothing. i call and it says they wont take cc enquiries due to high volume of apps. no good

      • +1

I think you get approved quickly if you already get your income in a nab account.

I get mine in cva abd is still pending

      • Same issue here. Instantly conditionally approved but uploaded payslips with no further advances in the application process after 3 working days.

    • How did you activate the card without having received it physically yet? I can't find the card details in internet banking.

      • Same question here, how did you activate with Apple Pay without receiving the card yet?

        • I'm not sure if Apple Pay is different but I was an existing NAB customer* so the card showed up in my NAB app. I went to the Menu > Cards > I saw a button to add to Google Pay > Follow on screen prompts and we're away.

*I'm a NAB customer in so far as I keep a regular transaction account open with them and keep $10 in it so that I'm eligible for existing customer deals like extra bonus points or discounts on credit card annual fees.

  • Can we still receive the velocity bonus points if we have held the NAB Qantas card in the last 18months?

  • Rookie question- but do you need to be approved or just have applied by the 5th? I was conditionally approved and have sent in my identity docs and proof of income etc. But just worried that with the large influx of applications, it may take a while for approval.

    • +3

Just need apply by the 5th. They can take few days to approve after you have send all the req documents.

      • Thanks!

      • that's good. wondering if i am going to get approved by the end of this week as banks close on weekend

      • i just had a chat with NAB credit card team about the application and was told that it has to be approved by 5th to be eligible :( so just asked them to cancel my application as it's been a week and i haven't heard anything from them.

        • Wtf why so long?

          • @bohn: something to do with their new process and high volume of applications so there may be delay. also i am not with NAB for my day to day banking meaning they don't have sufficient info for them to instantly approve.

            • +2

@twistedbow: I have home loan with NAB and had credit cards with them in the past but they are still taking long to approve it after I have provided my documents as well as answered their phone call inquiries on my bank statement. My credit rating is 900+ too…On the other hands, my wife had instant approved and got her card today despite she never had credit cards in Australia…lol…just because her pay goes in NAB account…wtf

              • @BlackorRed: nab are useless, I just took my loan away from them to westpac.
I'm going to try and get this but not holding my breath.

        • +5

I called them after reading this and the loyalty team mentioned that the bonus points will apply as long as you have applied before the 5th.

  • Keep getting this error on each step of the application. Very irritating.

    An unexpected error has occurred

    • Ad blocker, noscript or other browser plugin interfering maybe

  • Cheers OP aplied, got conditional.

  • I'm new to Velocity points, would buying $1000 worth of Woolworths Gift cards qualify me for this deal if once I got the NAB card?

    • Yes.

      • Cool ! I just noticed you can use Velocity points to buy a gift card. So effectively this is like getting a couple of hundred dollars for free. I should keep an eye out for these offers more often!

      • would you be charged interest on this?

        • Interest on which thing?

  • Nobody seems to be mentioning the part where it says " keep your card open for over 12 months."
Does this mean 6ou won't get the points for 12 months? What if you canel before 12 months?

    • +3

The signup bonus is split into two parts, with the first 60,000 Velocity Points (auto-converted from 120,000 NAB Rewards Points) to be received after spending $1,000 or more on eligible purchases in the first 60 days from account opening and an additional 10,000 Velocity Points (auto-converted from 20,000 NAB Rewards Points) after the annual fee for the second year is billed on your account.

  • Anyone get the email to get the points auto converted to virgin?

  • I had a NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card that I closed a couple of months ago.

Would I be eligible for the bonus Velocity points?

    • +1

guess no one knows yet. The T&C doesn't state "Qantas" specifically, so its kinda grey and tempting.

    • +1

Yes. The Qantas cards are a different product line.
Also this is on the Points Hack website.

NAB has confirmed that any existing customers on a NAB direct-earn Qantas card, such as the NAB Qantas Rewards Signature and NAB Qantas Rewards Platinum, are eligible for this offer, subject to meeting the offer requirements.

I can't see how previously holding a Qantas card would be different from currently holding a Qantas card in terms of eligibility.

  • Applied and conditionally approved, and within 5 minutes another email to confirm approval. Very easy and straightforward but I do have accounts with NAB and that might have helped.

  • I was conditionally approved/uploaded my payslips yesterday, haven’t heard anything back yet.

    • +1

took me about 5 days after sending paylsips to get approval

      • I just got an SMS about it being reviewed today, says to wait 24-48 hours though.

        • yes got that same sms, many day later to approval…

          • @t-money: Just got an approved SMS, must have gotten lucky.

            • +1

@Marrk: Lucky you, mine got reviewed today, still no update..

  • Has this deal expired? It says page not found when I click find out more & apply

    • Doesn't look like it. I just clicked through and submitted my application. Got conditionally approved and just need to upload payslips.

    • Maybe try a different browser or incognito mode, it’s still up.

      • Never mind, looks like it is back up. It was definitely showing page not found a few hours ago.

  • Heads up, if you think you can hit 3k over 60 days, apply direct on virgin velocity (sends you to nab). 80k velocity points

    • Annual fee?

      • +2

Debatable if 80k points at $195 annual fee (the virgin velocity deal) is better than 60k with $95 fee and lower spend threshold advertised here

        • Effectively comes out to 20k points for $2000 spend and $100 AF which doesn't seem like much of a deal compared to this.

        • +1

You're right, I just saw the $100 off and assumed it was the same…

  • card arrived in the mail 2 days after the approval. already spent the $1k this morning on some body corp fees. be interesting to see how fast the points get credited

    • How did you link your velocity, mines approved but haven't received any email regarding that yet

    • Any update?

      • +1

i called nab and asked them to manually link my number. i can see the 1,000 points in my rewards account from the spend but not the bonus points yet. i'm assuming they might get credited upon the first statement being generated (whenever that is)

      • just got my 60k points credited to my velocity account this morning.

        • Cheers mate, just spent 2k on it today so hoping for a similar turnaround.

    • update on this. when i log into NAB internet banking, click cards, select the credit card, i can now see 121,000 rewards points there which is weird because i set up the auto redemption to velocity points… anyway when i click the below link to 'redeem nab rewards points' it sends me out to their rewards site and wants me to login again which doesnt work (sends me back to internet banking) so gonna have to call them up now and see whats happening, but looks like the rewards points have been credited within a week of spend

      • response from nab: points are transferred over to velocity on the 14th of each month, that's why they are still sitting there even though i have already set up auto redemption to velocity.

        • In theory, does that mean that if you wanted to convert to GCs instead of VFF could you get the points in your account and redeem them for GCs before the 14th of the month?
Do you have the option to spend the 121k points currently or you can just see that you have them?

          • @daanish: thats the issue, i see them, but i am unable to login to the actual points redemption site to potentially redeem them (theres a bug or something) so not sure

      • Hey so I just spent over the $1000 requirement at one go, and I linked the velocity number through the website from beforehands. How long did it take you to be credited the standard points and then the bonus points?

        • standard points went in same day, took 4 days to see the bonus points through nab internet banking
