That was my process with NAB 6 months ago. Just applied for my 1st card ever with St G and yes as you said they ask for many docs lol
Agree. Had the same experience. Had to call them multiple times. They are the first that text customer to call them back that I have experienced.
Edit: deleted the first part of this comment, I think I was describing the ANZ process which was the card I got after. I don't think St George asked me for anything because they're my main bank. Below comment still applies.
From receiving the card, meeting the minimum spend, receiving and spending the bonus points, then cancelling the card was 14 days in total.
Mine is the opposite. Always received emails asking for more docs, which i had submitted all during the application, I made calls once i received the email and the rep said:” no all good, you don’t need to do anything as we have all your info here and we will make sure you won’t receive any of this email onwards” one day later, still receiving and i just ignored it and yes the process is nightmare, nearly a month already and not a single update
Absolutely horrendous process indeed. And they still use pigeons to send you letters. Not even kidding, I used to be advised of rate rises like 3 weeks too late when another rate rise had already gone through.
Their internet banking portal is trash and their app is basically a glorified web portal.
Move on from 2008 St George.
Absolutely agree. The online form for applications makes no sense - you don't get a real confirmation when you have submitted documents because it still makes it look like there is an action pending. But in reality, they have been forwarded those attachments.
STG literally take you back to 2008 with their app and web portal. Their app is just a glorified web portal.
However in this climate, I will do anything for the best deal. STG gave me $1 LMI for having 85% LVR upon purchasing my first home (since refi'd). I will take up this offer for 50,000 velocity for $0 fee (existing cx).
My experience was the same, submitted statements, payslips, proof of cc closure etc. and silence from them for a couple weeks. Called and they requested some other docs and said they'll finalise it once those are received. The app was saying I was approved but it was kind of taking a while to load/always glitching out and the cc account wasn't showing up on my internet banking. The approval page said it'll take 7 days to arrive but I waited 2 weeks and nothing. Called and the person said they can see everything is received they'll now finalise it so i'm not sure why the app was saying I was approved for those 2 weeks I kept checking.
At least I got the 100k bonus as soon as I hit the 3k spend
I've got a Westpac altitude rewards card. Can i still get this?
Yes
I'm not a rocket surgeon, but i think you can.

It used to be 12 months :(
24 months is crazy now. new norm? Hard to churn now
Sounds reasonable knowing the churning intent + there are multiple banks around.
I initially thought AMEX's 18 months was considered long, looks like NAB has followed 18 months too :(
Yea 24 months is pretty extreme
Geez, 24 months is next level. 3 months per churn so we now need 8-9 banks lol
It used to be 12 months not long ago…was waiting for a good deal as I have just ticked over my 12m waiting period :(
Shame it doesn't let you easily convert to QFF but still a good deal.
You now need to choose your bonus very wisely. Get a suboptimal one and you've missed your chance for over two years.
The annual card fee is $124 for me, it shows"$0 for the first year*** (reverts to $124)" when I logged in.
Surprised why the first year annual fee is different for me.
It's $49 for non members for the first year then $124 second year (if that's the normal price.)
It's $0 for existing members (or members that sign up before applying), then $124 second year
Can these points be converted to Qantas or Velocity points? If so, what is the conversion rate & process like?
2:1. 100,000 amplify = 50,000 velocity. It probably takes a few business days to transfer.
Good deals but 24 months killing it
Just a heads up, the application process with this bank is a nightmare! Recently applied for a credit card and had to submit multiple documents and make multiple calls to get it through. No communication from the bank and I always had to call and wait for over 30 minutes to speak with someone who at most times couldn't do much. After I gave up on that application and was thinking to withdraw, to my surprise, I received an email from the bank on a Sun afternoon saying that my application is approved!
