nbn FTTN to FTTP Upgrade: 100/20 $64.95/M, 100/40 $74.95/M | nbn FTTC to FTTP Upgrade: 250/25 $89/M for 12Mo (Expired) @ Leaptel

980

I was checking Leaptel NBN plans, 100/20 $64.95/Month and 100/40 $74.95/Month for first 12 months sound very attractive. Tried to Sign up, but 100/20 lists $74.95 for my address. Online chats saying this is only available for the people who is upgrading from FTTN to FTTP.

For FTTC to FTTP you have to signup to 250/25 $89/Month or 500/50 $99/Month. Expired. New lower prices

My house already has FTTP. Not sure if there is any other charge as I stop reading and going forward. Please leave comments if people need extra caution.

Just jump on the chat. Great local support. Better than most ISP.

    • Got the same message. Search on other ISP and found my connection.

      • I've never even had HFC ever, I switched from FTTC to FTTP about 9 months ago.

    • So clearly we have a bug in this specific fibre upgrade qual where its spitting back a generic result on FTTP rather than saying it is FTTP. We will get that fixed. It is not the qual on our main page and has been modified a bit for this page and clearly not tested as well as it should be.

I have flagged that to our dev team to get fixed ASAP.

      Apologies for that.

      • clearly not tested as well as it should be.

Perhaps a special OzBargain discount for our community here for doing your end-user testing for free?

        • If we discounted our plans further we'd be losing money. But I do appreciate the feed-back.

            @LeaptelRep:

If we discounted our plans further we'd be losing money.

So in this case, if you tested properly using 'paid' testers, you'd also be losing money…

  • I switched from a long 4 years using ABB FTTP and they have been great so far if not better so it’s gets my recommendation.

  • I am extremely happy with Leaptel. They deliver what they advertise and have fantastic customer service. If you sign up, don’t forget to help out a fellow Ozbargainer and use a random referral link!

  • I used to be with Leaptel HFC (before taking on a special with Tangerine).

Leaptel is awesome, I can only say good things about them.

  • No mention of minimum terms or downgrade fees.

Echoing JV's comment, I also had them tell me I was on HFC (actually FTTN), and an upgrade to FTTP is unavailable when I typed in my address. It actually is and I am in the process of having the upgrade done by ABB. It seems they can't even get the basics right.

    • Scroll up, user Twix says you can get 950mb on HFC, seems like there is no point upgrading?

      • I'm not on HFC. I'm on FTTN.

        • Hi Boodek,

So you're saying our system said that your address was HFC instead of FTTN?

That does surprise me as we extensively tested the FTTN/C qual side of things (for obvious reasons because that's its primary purpose). The HFC glitch people mentioned above is because we didn't think to test what the result it was pushing back for a FTTP address was, and the developer who wrote it seems to have made a generic non-FTTN/C = HFC result which is not what we wanted either. They're working to rectify that now.

  • Spintel was $49 for 6 months for 100/20 nbn speeds, coming to an end. Is this the best deal atm?

    • Same here. I'm thinking of moving to MORE $69/month. At least dont have to switch for another year

  • as a renter, how does this work getting the upgrade? It's FTTC at my address.

    • Tell your landlord that FTTP is available and you need the go ahead for installation. While it's not mandatory now it will be eventually. Maybe give some reasons such as you need faster download and upload speeds for work from home and to stop copper related dropouts. If you get the go ahead call your ISP asking to change from FTTC to FTTP. Email the landlord a link to the FAQs.

    • Hi deed03,

As there is no install cost, it is important to get the permission of your landlord as it does involve physical changes to the property.

  • This page is specifically for the nbn free fibre upgrade program, it specifically says "Check if nbn's fibre upgrade is available at your address".

nbn is providing a rebate to any new FTTN/C upgrade orders that allows us to offer further discounts on our already discounted plans. Sadly if you're already on FTTP (or another service type) we don't get that rebate to offer additional discounts.

You can find our general nbn plans at https://leaptel.com.au/nbn-plans/.

  • After I selected 100/20 plan, the price is 75.

    • yeah, read the breakdown of price below 75

  • If a signup is eligible for a promotion and a referee reward, the one with the great value to the customer will apply, which would be the $15 discount for 12 months.

  • Got the the payment part, enter my valid card and then I get: An Unknown Error (400) has occured. Please try again.

    edit
Went back a step, tried again and it went through.

  • Does taking up one of these nbn FTTN to FTTP Upgrades prevent you going back to discount speeds a year later? We currently pay just $40 a month and that's fast enough really, only I want to get off ADSL line because it is frequently faulty due to ancient wiring.

  • Does leaptel use IPOE where you don't need to put in your username/password??

Currently using ABB FTTN and paying $99 per month

    • Quick read on their site will tell you yes

      • Thanks

  • Hey rep

When does this deal end? I'm waiting for my partner to return from their holiday and then most likely will jump to you guys!

  • So does this stack with referrer bonus?

  • How do they define this? Upgraded within 1 week?

  • Hi Rep ,my friend want to upgrade ,but been told by your chat Rep he have to be on the 250/25 for a year ,you cant downgrade!!!???
    Thanks heaps
    Cheers
    :-)

  • How is Leaptel for gaming connections to servers based in JP?
Do they have a GB plan?
Looking to churn from Superloop next month (hopefully deal still active here)

  • Has anyone had the upgrade by NBN? Just curious if the NBN technician will install the box where you want it or would you need an electrician to run the conduit first?

  • Question. I am with Superloop at the moment. I have taken up this offer, will Superloop automatically be cancelled?

  • Nearly jumped on the FTTP upgrade, but the rep said I can only downgrade to 100mbps lowest which is like $90/m. Lucky didn't get hooked.

    • You can still jump to another provider on a lower speed though surely ???

      • I asked Leaptel, they said if I switch providers they'll charge me $200

        • I believe that would be within the 12 month period. I think all the telcos have this fee if you're upgrading your line to fibre and want to downgrade your speed
Not sure though did they say anything more?

  • I'm currently with Australia Post Connect, just out of my promotion period and seeing what else is around.

I currently use google nest wifi, will this work with Leaptel?

  • Hi I am currently with TPG, how do I know if my modem/ router will work with a new broadband provider?

    • +1

Some providers will have a set-up guide for specific router models. If you're lucky, your router will have its own written guide, just check the model number. Otherwise there's usually a generic "look for these settings" kind of thing.

    • It will work. They use IPoE. No vlan tagging needed. Only issues you would have is getting voip from a telstra optus modem without having it rooted

  • For those who has upgraded with them, usually how long does it take to complete it, from the day you put the order through?

    Many thanks

  • Leaptel, can I sign up for the FTTP Upgrade deal, and receive a FTTN connection from you while I await the FTTP hardware installation?

    • I wondered the same thing, what happens?

      • I can answer this for you now

You must first sign up for FTTN, then you can initiate an upgrade to FTTP and pay the delta in your monthly bill once the hardware has been installed
