  • Is there a possibility of getting new one in stock?

  • +1

Not at the moment but there has been in the past

  • +1

They also have one for $179 without stand

    • +2

Thanks @Lolitsjoel just purchased it for $143.05 using an eBay code.

    • I can't see it could you link

      • +1

@WilhelmBargo all gone, was only two available from memory, it was a recommended listing under the main one.

  • +1

I was waiting for the "not OLED…no deal" comment to come through. Not a bad price, I'm tempted. However i have two perfectly good 22" monitors and can't justify upgrading.

    • +7

      not OLED…no deal

    • +1

You don't know what you're missing until you upgrade them ;)

    • A monitor that’s not OLED, Is like a story that’s not well-told, It’s like a song that’s out of tune, Or a night sky without the moon.

And if you’re looking for a good deal, Then OLED is not the real steal, But if you want the best display, Then OLED is the only way.

      • +5

Someone has been busy on ChatGPT

      • +4

        A monitor that's not OLED,
Is still a fine choice, truth be told,
        It's not the end-all, be-all screen,
It's just a different tech machine.

        Sure, OLED's black is pitch-perfect,
But other screens can still project,
Colors bright and crisp and clear,
        Without OLED's price to fear.

And if you're on a budget tight,
OLED may not be worth the fight,
There are other options you can find,
To suit your needs and ease your mind.

down to $174($25off) with eBay Plus

  • thanks, been waiting for one to come up … does anyone know what condition do these come in as they are classified as used?

    • +1

I got two last time and the were just like new.

YRMV but I have always gotten high quality, well packed and clean goods from this supplier.

    • +3

Figured I would share a different experience. Mine wasn't in the best shape, certainly not like new. Some white scuffs on the stand and a small ~8mm scuff in the top right of the screen.

None of them were huge issues for me (although the screen scuff does annoy me every now and then) but certainly not like new for me.

  • +3

Got one… Skeptical but think I can easily sell it on FB marketplace for the same amount if I don't like it 🤷

    • thats what I was thinking ….

  • Thoughts on used screens?

    • +31

Depends on what the last person watched.

    • +2

Nothing wrong with them if you wanna save some coin, if not satisfied with condition (under the terms & listing) you could always dispute the purchase using eBay/PayPal.

    • +2

I got one last time around and it has been perfect

    • +12

You can only see pictures and videos on screens.

You need precogs to see thoughts.

      • So this one can't do thoughts? meh… C'mon Elon

    • +2

On this one? A ripper for work from home office use or small bedroom use as a tv even. Stick a firestiick in the back.

      • It doesn't work like that.

        • HDMI port? Check
          Speakers? Check
          Reasonable sized screen? Check
Volume control on the Firestick remote? Check

Yes you do have to turn it on at the monitor as you sit down but it will sleep without an input signal.

  • Good deal, but I'm looking for usbc with power delivery so I'll have to pass on this one.

    • +5

Do you see a sign in the town square that says "piano lessons, call:"… start loudly shouting at everyone, then call the number and scream "BUT I DONT WANT PIANO LESSONS"?

No? Then dont do it here.

      • +1

Are you offering piano lessons? I am in the market for some…

        • +2

No piano lessons, But I do have this rock that keeps tigers away if you are interested.

      • Nothing even remotely like what they commented. Thanks for the useful perspective @chasingstoke. Found it helpful.

        • +1

It also doesn't have dual locking diffs, just in case you were going offroad anytime soon.

      • Hi Ricky G

      • Oddly specific

  • Last few times the used one has been posted, brand new stock appeared a few days later.

    • +5

There is no new stock available nor will be.

      • -1

Are you saying that its not expected to have any new stock for the forseeable future?

        • +5

          'nor will be' covers forseeable

        • It seems like he is saying it is always "used stock" when it comes into stock and never "NEW (as in, brand new) stock".

  • Is this a decent monitor for gaming? Just for basic games, not the latest ones or multiplater games?

    • +3

      It's 60hz.
So as long as you're not playing games above 60fps, I guess?

    • +6

You dont need a gaming monitor to play games

      • +1

The marketing department don't agree with you

    • +1

Nothing wrong with it at all, but 60fps max no specific gaming features.

    • I guess the only thing you havw to worry about is non-4k games will look worse due to bilinear scaling. You can integer scale things up to try and minimise the damage but wont work well for 3D games

      • how does 1080p gaming and videos look on this 4k monitor?

would it look blurry compared to native 1080p monitor?

        • Depends on how you set it up?

Mine just arrived today, minor backlight bleed on left side and scuff on stand but overall better than what I expected. If you set the gaming as 4k but the render resolution at 1080p it looks decent. Definitely recommend FSR or DLSS if you want to upscale from 1080p to 4k as upscaling on monitors isn't as pretty as upscale algorithms on TV.

  • Used electronic purchases don't get covered under the ACL right?

    • Only if from a private seller. There are less things covered if from a business compared to new, but the essentials are covered. Fit for purpose, matched the description etc.

  • How suitable is the VA screen for office use ?

    • +1

These would literally be best described as a business monitor. Clear Excel and big enough for side by side Word doc's

    • +2

I had a 32” 4K VA primarily for business use, and the colour shift across the screen was doing my head in. Swapped it to a 27” IPS and much better.

It’s enough to make me avoid VA for business use going forward.

      Was fine for gaming tho.

Edit: price for this specific monitor is pretty good tho, so you could always try and sell if unhappy. But just my thoughts on VA above

  • Thanks bought it for $174 with an ebay code. Will replace my second monitor which the cat broke after only 1 day. Next monitor will be secured down to the desk with cable ties.

    • What code is that please :)

  • +4

NOTE: you may have to change the settings on these to get 4K 60Hz. I'll bet a lot of people are running them at 30Hz and don't know better.

Also, they are very slow to come back on after sleep. Any fix for that?
And the sound takes 3 or 4 seconds to start. ie if there has been no sound playing for a while, the audio amp seems to turn off. Then if I start a video, I miss the first few seconds of audio. Is that everyone, or just me? (Using DP)

    • +1

I also find that switching between resolutions is a bit slow and the time can vary depending on what input you are using.

When I use HDMI to DVI cable (DVI in on the monitor end) the resolution switching time is about 4 seconds, when I use HDMI to HDMI it is actually a bit slower at around 6 seconds.

Startup time is around 9-10 seconds.

It also has a rotatable stand for portrait view and if you use the monitor software it has an autorotation sensor.

    • +1

I havent experience any issues with audio, mine will be on for a full shift and will instantly play.

However yes theyre slow to wake once they get into standby, havent found a fix yet. I just wiggle the mouse wait a second or two and start logging in while the screen is still black. By the time the machine logs in theyre on.

    • what settings do I need to change to get it to 60hz ?

      • +6

scroll down in the main menu until you get to setup menu (you need to scroll further down below "Color" menu as it is hidden initially) , then change HDMI to 2.0 and displayport to 1.2

This video might make it a bit easier to follow:
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYtXs9-_3mM

    • how does 1080p gaming and videos look on this 4k monitor?

      • It would look bad. 24inch is the max you want to have when using using 1080p. The pixels would look huge

      • All depends on viewing distance and your eyes.

At around 1m back from the screen 1080p movies look ok to my eyes without glasses on but I'm starting to need glasses for reading these days so the slight blurriness of my vision is likely smoothing things out a bit. I haven't done much gaming on it as my GPU has died.

I'm actually running this monitor at 1080p all the time as that's all my PC currently supports and yes I can obviously see larger pixels but I've grown accustomed to it. Keen to eventually run it at 4K or even 1440p, I've tried it with both resolutions on another laptop we have and it's pretty nice at both, but have only tested desktop stuff, not games.

        • so 1080p gaming and videos looks more blurry and pixelated on 4k monitor?

          • @pinkybrain: It's not the fact it is 4K and you will be running it at 1080p, it's because of the larger size monitor.

If you are running 1080p on a 24 inch monitor the pixels will look much smaller/crisper than the same resolution running on a 32 inch monitor where the same amount of pixels will need to fill a much larger screen area.

If you have the option of this monitor vs a 1080p monitor of the same size I would definitely get this one to future proof for when you are able to upgrade your PC to output either 1440p or 4K.

The only way a 1080p 32 inch monitor would be a better buy is if it also had different screen panel technology such as IPS , 10bit, higher refresh rate etc. This screen is limited to 8bit, 60hz (for most resolutions, however can do 75hz at 1440x900), TN panel.

  • No good codes this time, really should have grabbed another when they were $175

  • Just picked one up thankyou.

  • -5

Starts reading desc, wow this sounds pretty good, used or not, keeps reading
    Hits letters "VA"

    Yeah nah

    • "Tell me you don't know about monitors without telling me you don't know about monitors"

  • +9

More will become available late/ early next week.

    • does it come with same stuff as brand new?
and what is in the box?

      • The last few batches of secondhand have been a luck of the draw with regards to cables which I guess is why they don't advertise cables included. I think some have come with the USB hub cable, HDMI, DP whilst others have just one or two cables plus power cable.

Mine came with power cable and a DP cable, others have said they received a HDMI cable.

I'm not sure if the USB cable is something slightly different than normal, but I tried connecting it up to a USB 3 printer style cable I had laying around and it didnt identify the hub in the monitor for some reason. Edit: Actually scratch that last comment, I just tried again and it is working now.

  • +1

Have one from a previous deal. It's a good workstation monitor. Not the brightest, a bit slow to turn on, and I'm not a huge fan of the matte finish, but it works well and you can beat it for value.

  • This is a bargin indeed! thanks for sharing.

  • Bought it from a previous deal, very happy.

    • how does 1080p games and videos look on the 4k monitor?

      • I don't know, if all your content is in 1080p and that's the reason you're buying this I wouldn't recommend it.

Personally though I play games in in 1440p but wanted a bigger screen for when I stream stuff, casual games (big screens tend to be less competitive) and workflow (extra screen real estate). Even if not everything I stream is in 4k it's painful using a monitor this big that isn't 4k, text absolutely sucks. I don't want to imagine spread sheeting on something this big at 1080p.

edit: I didn't actually answer your question but I can say 1440p looks like 1440p, I don't see much impact from it not being native but I'm not the best analysing that. 1080p videos look like 1080p videos, which is to say fine in my usual viewing position which is further back than my gaming position. If you want a bigger screen with 4k but need to game 1080p and you don't want a smaller second screen to game on this is fine. Just be aware that 1080p on a screen this big when you're up close is noticeably different. It's not the "not native 1080p" that's a drawback, it's the fact that it's a bigger screen meaning the pixel density is less, which you can see from up close.

        • does 1080p gaming and video look blurry or more pixelated on 4k monitor?

can you also see the pixels if looking up close?

          • @pinkybrain: 1080p is 1080p 4k monitor doesn't matter.

What matters is the size, IMO 32 inches is too big for PC gaming at 1080p. A 50 inch isn't too big at 1080p because you are sitting further away and can't tell.

    • Can't edit but I'd like to there was a drawback, the HDMI cable I received couldn't handle 4k/60FPS. Minor inconvenience for me since I had a bunch lying around and knew that it could be an issue. But if you're not aware of that you might not be prepared for it. Using a mouse at 30FPS on a screen like this sucks ass.

  • What was the original price, hmmm can anyone speculate.

    • +1

I think it was $599 in 2018 (mine is a 2019 build date).

You need to be careful when checking out specs for this monitor as Philips released two versions with similar model names. From the last deal, mine is a 328P6VJEB/75 (likely the same as this deal) and it is an 8bit monitor, however there is also a 10 bit version with better all round specs, it is 328P6VUBREB/75

The 10 bit version retailed for $799 in 2018 (not this one). This link below describes the 10 bit version but also mentions the one in this deal and is where I found the RRP, it's easy to confuse the two models
      https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/philips-328p-4k-32-inch-with-us…

As the NSW Education department seemed to buy a boatload of these monitors back in around 2019 I suspect that they got them much cheaper than RRP. I can't believe they ditched them so quickly and seemingly also had a bunch of unused monitors in storage that they didn't even take out of the boxes (that's a guess based on other comments).

      • thanks for info about 10bit version.
would it look better with 10bit?

wonder what monitor they upgraded to?

were they using them for CAD classes or guess what they use it for ?

        • +1

10bit allows for a much wider colour range and I think the other model also had HDR (not this one which is 8bit).

I'd imagine Ed department were using them for design/coding courses, maybe TAFE or something (I know at least one buyer identified his as from a library (school library?) based on a sticker that was left on the monitor).

Mine came in a Dell 34" monitor box complete with previous label related to Education Dept purchase so guessing they upgraded to the Dell. Mine was well packed and in excellent condition, I think there was only a very small scuff mark on the stand itself and screen was perfect condition but again the luck of the draw.

I think govt departments often operate on a "spend the allocated budget or lose it next year" basis, which results in a lot of unnecessary wastage especially considering mine was only from 2019 and probably didn't go into service until later that year. Sucks for the public purse, but at least we get a stab at deals like this one.

          • +1

@Gravy: They probably set up and sat in storage or weren't really used for 3 years during covid. I'm sure most people were working from home during that time in NSW education. Hoping anyway

          • @Gravy: Mine was similar to yours, dell box, light scuff on stand, but overall pretty good. Got a fair bit of backlight bleed on the left side but that's luck of the draw and I can live with that for this price. I didn't realise it had built in speakers so that was a bonus for me, it's much better than the speakers on my Lenovo laptop. Works well enough for my uses for the most part.

            • @DangerNoodle: Yeah, I have a bit of backlight bleed mostly on lower left corner, not a deal breaker at this price though.

        • how can we tell if we got 10bit or 8bit

          • @viper8548: From 'Gravy' on the previous page:
You need to be careful when checking out specs for this monitor as Philips released two versions with similar model names. • @viper8548: I would guess that they would all be the 8bit version 328P6VJEB/75

Just look on your model sticker at rear of monitor.
