Was previously $42, not sure if this is an ATL.
This is not the colour model.

Amazon now back to $84 via a marketplace seller, as Amazon-sold stock is no longer available.
Yes, ATL according to CCC - $39.00 (Apr 10, 2025)
i picked up 5 arlec smart downlights from bunnings for $86 on the weekend. im sure the quality isn't as good as the phillips ones but i definitely recommend them to anyone on the fence on trying out smart lighting.
Tried going this route with nanoleaf stuff but they were a shite experience and would lose connectivity and just slow tbh.
Ended up getting some dumb "click" branded white ones as a replacement for $6ea for cct led (manual switch)…until something decent at a decent price comes along
Arlec means Tuya, which means NO.
Why no Tuya?
Although Tuya do have some Zigbee products, my experience with Tuya WiFi is overall bad.
@skittlebrau: They're not my first preference but I don't mind WiFi Tuya stuff. I haven't had any DOA. No connectivity problems with my UniFi APs.
Local control is a bit of a hassle but once you know where to get the local key (or use the new API method in HA), it's not difficult.
Depending on the device I'd usually look for Zigbee first.
Can't compare wifi lights with zigbee lights.
Been using them the Arlec ones for the past 3-4 years and they are been working fine with no issues so far , so can definitely vouch for them .
Applying a 5 per order maximum to light bulbs is really dumb.
Anyone managed to set it up with a Hue Motion Sensor, so that the it is triggered by motion?
Thanks!
yes it is very easy
But you need a hub, right?
I think with the IKEA ones, the sensors can talk to lights direct, but with the Hue ecosystem, the sensors talk to the hub.
Yes, the hub is why it works so well.
You can also do direct binding with Hue products (or any equivalent Zigbee products) if you’re willing to do down the Home Assistant rabbit hole.
Hue motion sensor works great natively. Have one in hallway for this need
Set mine up with an Aqara P1 motion sensor using Home assistant, works great.
I had one of this and always have an issue if connected to a circuit with dimmer. It flickers and can only be stopped if you play with the dimmer switch. I’m keen to remove the dimmer but not an electrician. Good quality though because it outlived the generic ones.
Dimmers change voltage down to dim the lights not ideal for led lights
Take out the dimmer and replace with a hue dimmer switch. It will tell the LED to dim itself via ZigBee instead of changing the voltage sent to the light. Smart lights aren't supposed to be used with a (conventional) dimmer.
Yes you will experience this. I had to get my dimmers removed.
My partners place would need like 15 of these. 5 per order limit is silly
Chat with them .. last time I managed to buy 30 (Color/Akari ) via chat
That’s to stop people from Brodening them… wait a minute!
Order some from Amazon too?
Gone!
Are there any decent cheaper zigbee downlights? Not too fussed on RGBW vs White. Seems like these from OzSmartThings might be decent price. But still slightly more than these if you don't care about colour.
I have Nue branded and they are seen in the hue app no issues
I wouldn't get the Nue ones - Almost all of my happen have stopped working or do weird things like never turning off, etc. I have since replaced with Hue downlights.
I had nue branded zigbees. I've since ripped them out and paid the extra for philips ones. If you had a set of 4, there was varying trigger lag so each would come on at a different time and finish their transition at different times, if the transition finishes at the same brightness at all.
So, do you need to install a power socket in the roof for each of these? Do you guys do it yourself or better to call an electrician?
When dealing with power, unless you really know what you are doing, call an electrician.
If you have downlights already, highly likely that you already have the plug there. Pull one out and take a look.
If you have downlights already. Most likely you will have plugs for the current downlights
If you have newer style downlights you should have plugs.
Old ones possibly not.
Replacing old ones is easy, just quick connector plugs on the TPS and for the love of god ensure you test for live/dead after turning power off.
Or call an electrician.
Most stuff is super easy and straight forward to do, but Australia is one of the few countries where you can't work on electrical within your own house.
Anyone know the IC rating?
Believe these are IC4, the Akari (colour) ones definitely are.
Anyone using these under eaves? The Philips website states it is IP44 rated even though it's only supposed to be used indoors.
My house came with HPM IP44 downlights including under the eaves and bathrooms. They have been operational the past 6 years and I've replaced the ones under the eaves with these Garneas 2 months ago. You'll be fine.
