The moment this went up, it was $3500 and I gave up. I wasn't aware they added a pre-order discount immediately afterwards.

    • +1

      Yep, my thoughts too.

They said it was going live on the 10th but was available to buy on the 9th at $3500.

This mornings 25% discount sold me since $3500 was a joke price. May as well buy a 42" or 48" LG TV, or if want wider, Samsung's 57".

    • Added cashrewards discount too if you want to cancel and reorder for extra dscount

  • +8

After using curved monitors for years I'll be avoiding them from now on.. My eyes end up changing the curve to FLAT and flat screens look like an inverted curve :) I know its just the brain altering the perception and adapting but i don't like it. I will only buy flat PC monitors.

    • +2

I know what you mean, but interesting enough I'm opposite.

I have a 1800R monitor, and one time I changed back to a 27" 4k, and edge of panels looked like they were falling away.
Got used to it within a day though, but still, I don't want to use flats again outside a laptop.

      • +4

OLED has the best viewing angles (I have a 65" LG OLED TV) and ZERO glow fade on edges so its perfect as a large flat screen

All curved screens i've used have been VA and they dont have the best viewing angles to begin with and bad off angle edge fading.

        • +1

VA is interesting. Using it as my primary monitor and I don't have issues with colour but then after using an IPS or OLED, I come back to mine and it looks so washed out.

Only concern is how many years burn in will take, other than that it seems like almost no downsides to going to OLED

          • +1

@abowen: Pixel shift has helped reduce burn in issues or at least made it more of a long term problem.
Lots of refurbished 10" Tablets with burn in on the market.. i guess time will tell what happens with desktop monitors.
I'll try an OLED PC Monitor when they hit the $500-$600 price point for 32" 1440P

            • @vid_ghost: Funnily enough the only device I have with burn in is my apple watch which has the always on display.

            • @vid_ghost: Isn't it just time to convert it to a 65" gaming monitor?

    • +1

What's the problem here? You'll find your perception will adjust back to flat screen and curved screens will seem curved again? I use both flat and curved for appox. 10h a day everyday and have absolutely no issues with curves or flats.

    • Do you see TVs like that as well?

    • They're great for gaming but that's it. I had the same issue when I went back to a flat screen. Looked like the screen was bulging. Took weeks for my eyes to get used to it

    • idk why but im in the same boat.
thats weird 'cuz i use flat screen for work and curved one when im at home.
I dont feel "inverted curve" when I work, but now that I have flat screen at home, I get that feeling…
After few months, my eyes start adapting to flat screen

    • Yep. I previously had a curved 38" Alienware which I used for a combination of productivity/work and gaming. Curved screens for productivity work isn't great at all, especially if you are doing design/development related work - where you want to be properly seeing straight lines and making sure your work is as it should be.

I'm now back to a flat 27" with high refresh rate, which I'm finding to be awesome for both productivity and gaming. It might seem counter intuitive, but I actually find large screens to be bad for competitive gaming, because you can't see the entire screen at the same time. You need to make head movements or big eye movements to see things like your health, ammo, radar, etc. Between 24 - 27" is the perfect size if you want to be able to take in most of the screen at once, which I guess is why most esports LAN tournaments (like the IEM CS tournaments etc) use those sizes for the pro games on stage.

  • +1

Damn already got a 32inch 4k OLED. Cannot upgrade to this. No point. Sigh …. BUT I WANT IT

  • +3

I've read elsewhere that if you have an education email (e.g. edu.au) then you get 10% but have not validated myself

My son saw this and now wants it so should have an answer on this by the end of the day.

Edit: $2311.82 with edu and $50 voucher

    • Legend, thankyou. Updated

Could get it to $2k if you also use cashrewards + extra 5% discount

      • +3

        Cashrewards invalid on EDU orders

        • Appreciate it, updated the post

    • Did he need to pre-register interest? I just tried on my edu.au account and don't have any voucher :(

    • I've registered for EDU with my .edu.au account but can't see the 10%. Where did you get this? :(

      • Logged into LG. then in search i typed education. Then the first search result was education hub. Clicked on that. Then although i was already signed in I clicked on the sign in link half way down the screen. then it automatically ran through the sign in process. then there was a preorder banner at the top of the screen.

        • Doesn't work for me :(

My price in the EDU portal is $2,361.82

          • @xenoic: That's right. Then go into chat and ask for a 5% coupon so you can buy today
            edit: final price was $2,243.73

    • +1

In case didn't see, someone said another 10% with edu using SPEND2000

Worth doing a second order if it works and cancel original, assuming in stock + don't mind risk of having order ship a bit later

      • Awesome. Worked and got it for $2,125.64. Original order cancelled easily too.

  • +2

Personally at this price point I would rather have the LG 48" OLED for a bit less. Even the Samsung Ultrawide OLEDs can be had for a lot less.

    • +1

It's a tough one pending on your purpose

Gaming? Yeah, I'd go 48" or 55" and push it further back

Work? I want those extra pixels for side by side work, and the curve so don't have warped text on the edges.

The 57" screens look awesome but I literally can't fit it on my desk + speakers

      • I'm getting this to replace the Samsung 57", my neck hurts from all the turning

      • Yeah those 57"s are huge. A good ergotron desk mount and you can remove the stand and likely have room for the speakers. Though its all $$$

    • +1

What are you after? More pixels, more desktop real estate, more immersion, better refresh rate? This monitor is better.

Larger, brighter screen, reduced PPI, more TV functionality? LG 48" is the go.

The monitor is better if you prefer to sit at your desk to use the monitor… and the TV is better if you sit about a half to a meter back from your desk…. I'm not sure of what sort of ergonomic setup that makes sense with though. Maybe get like… a mobile height adjustable pedestal desk to put your keyboard and mouse on…

  • Looking for one thats 34".

  • Seeing this is USD1999 in the USD I was expecting it to come in at 3k+, 2.6k is pretty decent IMO.

Love the UW form factor and hope more competitors come along.

    • Agreed. I think USA had a 15% preorder discount, which would have made it comparable to our 25% one.

      No way was paying $3.5k

      • +2

Their price doesn't include tax either

        • Fair enough. Added cashrewards + extra preorder discount to it.

Could get it for $2.4k now + $200 back in future.

If had education email, that'd be $2000. Crazy good compared to $3500 hah
So much profit margin on these

          • @abowen: Cashrewards is invalid on EDU orders. $2,243.73 is cheapest I could get it through EDU

            • @Bruceflix: Thankyou, that's still a crazy good price.

  • +1

OP, there's an 8.5% cashback at Cashrewards as well and it says the 5% pre-order bonus works with it. I just ordered mine like 5 minutes ago so I'm waiting for the Cashback to appear.

It should bring down the price to around ~$2,250 I think.

    • Interesting. I've never used Cashrewards before

I could only get 5% coupon working with "April NPI UltraGear Monitors 5% Coupon"

How do I get the 8.5% cashback to appear?

      • +1
        1. Sign in to your LG account, clear your cart
        2. Create an account in Cashrewards, search for LG, click on Shop Now. It should open a new tab for the LG website
        3. Without opening any other tabs, add the monitor, add the coupon code, pay.

That should be it. Generally, the cashback appears in minutes or within 2 days. And the money will be available for you to withdraw within 3 months.

        Welcome to world of cashbacks

        • Ah bugger, I did open another tab… guess I'll do it again

edit: did it, lost 100 positions in the queue but worth it for $300

      • How to get that 5% coupon?

        • -1

          UGMNT5

          It's via cashrewards website

        • Didnt work for me either.i tried a 5 year old myLG account and a brand new one.no dice.also customer support was next level useless.' life's hard' -with us, should be their meme

    • +1

      Cashback came in at $188.59.

So for a regular account, 25% preorder + 5% additional pre-register bonus + 8.5% cashback brings down the price to $2,251.

That's not too bad considering I paid $1800 for my AW3821DW back in 2020.

      • Same here re cashback. It took around 35 minutes for mine to register.

  • +2

hdr400 for 2.6K? Is it enough?

    • wasn't there something about HDR1000+ monitors at the start of the year?

  • Wish this came in a 1800R curve or flat panel. 800R curve is a bit too much for my liking considering desk realestate. Otherwise the specs are great! Anything close to this with less curve? Currently using a Samsung G93SD.

    • +1

Comments I've read from reddit is majority of people love the curve once they have it, but each to their own of course

I think closest is that Dell or Samsung one I linked coming in future

    • Was just about to buy a g93sd for $1295 but this has me tempted to splurge but agreed about the curve
      Seems a bit wild

  • This is the monitor I will be buying once my Alienware 3423dwf dies. 3yrs +, fingers crossed it dies soon so wife would not kill me.

  • Is the 49" 5120x1440 back on sale at previous low of $1399 a good option? or is the 49" Odyssey OLED G93SD better?

  • I'm only hesitating because of the curve and a bendable model was showcased that might be better long term…

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lV3MMHAvkog

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVMM_H0GQLE

  • Tempting, but might wait for the 39” version later in the year.

    • +1

Sweet spot to me would be 42" but I'd rather go a little larger than smaller so don't need to use scaling and lose screen real estate

  • This or Samsung OLED G95SD? Don't think 9070XT can drive the new LG smoothly..

    • +1

      I have a 7900XTX, going to run mine in 2560x1080p @ 330Hz for gaming

Probably most games won't get above 200 FPS but whatever

If the game supports FSR4, you could have it generate more frames to get closer to 330FPS

    • +3

Currently running the G93SD (basically same as G95SD but without built in speakers and no smart bloatware) with a 6900xt. Runs games great. Some triple AAA's I might would use FSR upscaling if I want higher fps. 9070xt arriving soon. Will let you know when I try it out.

  • +1

Surely most folks would be better off getting a 42" or 48" C4 (which has a lower res but bigger screen), and pocketing the $800-1200 difference.

    • Yeah I'm considering 42" C4 also.

  • It doesnt look like edu VIP 10% pricing works

    • +1

It does it's just difficult to navigate the site
you have to go to the education hub within the lg site

      • where is that located? It says VIP for me in the top right corner

        • yeah I'm also struggling to find the EDU page, says VIP in the corner but still showing $2,624.25

  • How sure are we that cashrewards cashback will stack with the $50 sign up bonus?

Can’t find any mention of it in cashrewards terms.

    • Its listed under the cash rewards link?

Receive $50 towards your next purchase over $350 on LG.com!
T&C apply. See LG website for more information and always check the store's page on Cashrewards for qualifying purchase information.

      Expires: Aug 1, 2030, 11:59:00 PM

So i dont see why it wouldnt be included.

      • I wasn't able to stack it with the 5% off. It only allowed 1 coupon, but Cashrewards worked with the 5% off so still a great deal.

  • +1

    Purchased through EDU store
    EDU so no cashrewards.
    Couldn't get a pre-register code.
Asked in chat and they gave a 5% disount code. It didn't stack with $50 welcome.
Still, total paid = $2,243.73 so cheaper than main site with cashrewards and codes

    • have you got the direct link to the EDU page? cant seem to find it

      • Logged into LG. then in search i typed education. Then the first search result was education hub. Then although i was already signed in I clicked on the sign in link half way down the screen. then it automatically ran through the sign in process. then there was a preorder banner at the top of the screen.

        • I believe the discounts are applied to VIP status that may depend on the particular domain. Mine isn't working for @connect.qut.edu.au. What edu.au domain is yours @Bruceflix ?

          • +1

            @steve84: My son's high school email. @<school name>.sa.edu.au

          • @steve84: I got mine to work with a @connect.qut.edu.au FYI - so it should definitely let you as well.

            • @ChaosDogg: Thanks, got it to work as well. Though going to wait for bendable I think. Great discount though!

      • +1
        • thank you!

  • anyone planning to go to this from a 42C2?

    • Me!

    • Nah. 42 c2 is still good and i can barely game over 120hz at 4K anyway

    • Nah waiting for the LG 32" WOLED 4K glossy monitor that's reported to be released later in the year

  • If you are using side monitors and want to continue using them just keep the curve in mind. Have yet to see a nice set up using side monitors with this thing. Vertical seems to be what a number of redditors are doing

42" flat OLED + 2*24" in vertical. Best of everything. I just don't have table space

      • Have the 42C2 and same set up for side monitors, works well with a flat display of course but not going to go well when the central screen has that curvature.

        • 42" as a side monitor. How BIG is your desk?? :D

        • What's the issue with curved central screen?

I havent seen setups with this monitor in particular, but have definitely seen setups with a curved central screen. (I have a curved main screen, but only one secondary side screen, due to OS limitation.)

Not suggesting that you are wrong - just curious what the issue is with a curved central screen, as I havent heard this before.

          • @caprimulgus: I had the Samsung 49" and it's a much shallower curve so you can have monitors on the side and they still fit in well, back far enough, align them nicely etc.

On this monitor the curve isn't shallow, so think this monitor in the center, the extent of that curve and where your side monitors would end up.

This is one of the few pics using side monitor. It kinda works but you can see how close that side monitor will be when hes sitting at the desk to fit in with the angle of the curve
            https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/comments/1jfdto…

            • @Osiris: Ah right - so you just meant how steep the curve is (not all curved monitors). That makes more sense!

Fwiw, I reckon that setup looks alright! (My side monitor is probably closer than that!) :)
