  • new version of 7-11 fuel using Android studio - seems to stuck at searching for best price.

The Location seems to be stuck in Melbourne?

    Anyone found a fix?

    • Try a fuel station in your local state and let it find a station.
Then try a different state and try searching again. It worked for me - basically try to bug it out

      • -1

        I'm in QLD… I want QLD.. :(

but ok ~ will give it a go

        • Gave up on Android Studio - Followed the Nox instructions and setup again… Alot more guessing but it worked :)

Just got my Ipad updated to IOS 17 and IFakeLocation is not longer supported anymore. Can someone guide me what can I do to make it working again? Thanks.

  • +1

was continuously getting a01 error on iphone using IfakeLocation

Used a VPN for brisbane, and could lock ASAP!

  • The A01 error is a strange one. I got it the other day on my account that has nothing to do with spoofing. Changed fuel type and all good after.

  • Dumb question but using android emulator, do you need to download a VPN app onto the virtual phone or connect your PC to a VPN in the correct state?

    • Not in my experience.

  • +6

It appears that A01 errors are occurring when attempting to lock in a location in a different state.

It seems that additional measures are being implemented, restricting location lock-ins to the same state.

For example, being in NSW allows you to lock in a location in NSW, but attempting to do so in Queensland results in an A01 error.

  • Google "my IP location". If the IP+GPS location match desire locking location, you should able to lock.
The IP location need to be the same state as the GPS location

    something like:
    https://whatismyipaddress.com/
    https://www.iplocation.net/
    https://nordvpn.com/what-is-my-ip/

    • It does look IP geolocation is being used now but it is not perfect. I get A01 errors if I try with my home connection (Leaptel) and setting GPS to my home city. If I switch to using a VPN in the my home city it works. Also works if I tether to my phone instead. Working now on Android Studio.

I cannot even lock using my genuine account with genuine location… What…

  • +2

I locked in QLD using VPN to France

    • Oui oui?

    • +1 on this. It worked with me locking it in England

  • +3

I also was not able to lock in a different state after the app update, but thanks to all the comments above, I was able to lock in again by installing Nord VPN on my iPhone and setting the server location to the same state as the fuel lock location BEFORE trying to lock in a price. Then you just follow the same process as normal with iFakeLocation.

For example, if you want to lock in a price at Pimpama Qld, just set the VPN on your iPhone to Brisbane, then use iFakeLocation to set location to Pimpama, then open 7 Eleven app and lock in.

    Choppers back in service !!

From VIC and I used ipad (iOS15.8.1) and ifakeLocation (on Windows laptop) to lock fuel and no issues up until last week. Since then I was facing A01 error on all my accounts (I only have 2).

From comments above, I have tried all the combinations of VPN using Surfshark (ipad VPN to Brisbane, Laptop VPN to Brisbane, Mobile VPN to Brisbane while hotspotting and then with all combinations)…nothing worked. Then I stopped VPN, set the location to Bayswater VIC (as it the cheapest for U91) and then tried to lock….bingo it worked….I understand it is not the cheapest but being an ozbargainer I would take any savings.

Posting this, hoping that this intermittent way might work for someone looking to fillup today!

  • When using VPN to another state, am I suppose to install VPN app (Nord) in Andorid studio for it to work?

7-eleven app comes back with no internet error once VPN turned on

  • tried various methods to fix this reading comments i cant get it to work. using Android Studio method.

    • Just bought NORD y day, will try today with android studio

      • i somehow got it working again

I connected my PC to a France VPN and no error and no stuck on searching for cheapest price.

  • +3

From VIC got it working on ios 17 using iANYgo. Price lock was in QLD, set my nordvpn to France and somehow it locked in.

    • +2

Worked on ios 16 using iFakelocation. Price locked to WA and using Keepsolid VPN to France

  • I'm using Bluestacks and have been getting A01 all week. Surfshark to France also worked.

  • +3

    Guess we're going international now

  • -1

Weird…I'm in NSW and able to lock in a NSW location like 2 minutes ago.

    • I think you're in the wrong place. That is not the point of this thread.

  • +3

Found a method to continue locking in all states. Don’t know if 7/11 monitors these forums so don’t wanna say it.

    • +6

Yeah fair call, I’d be 100% confident in the fact that they have trawled through every page of this thread

      • +3

100% - the dev love it.. the devs love being challenged

      • If that's the case, it seems almost rude to not put more message in here for them to read.

    • +2

      mind sharing via PM?

    • -1

Rude. If you're going to benefit from the work others have put in, contribute like everyone else.

    • bro please do tell , or PM please

    • +2

Someone that's affiliated with 7 eleven could PM you pretending to be a lay person. Be careful

  • +3

It's now state locked (or strangely, any state works if it detects you are overseas) based on IP geolocation.

I am able to lock on iOS 17.2 using https://github.com/davesc63/fuel-spoof (thanks whoever made this!) and router-level VPN to the correct AU state (on-device VPN breaks the local VPN tunnel required to spoof the location on iOS 17).

    • What about hot spotting from VPN device?

      • For example, creating a hotspot on your Mac that goes through a VPN tunnel? Should work!

        • Depends how the VPN is configured. If you connect to a VPN on Android then activate hotspot any devices that connect to your hotspot go directly rather than get routed through the VPN.

    • It's now state locked

So what if you are travelling interstate?

    • "It's now state locked " very important note I did not know. Good call out.

  • +3

Price locked to WA using a spare license of my Kaspersky Plus security software which has a free VPN. Installed Kaspersky on my iPhone and changed VPN to France. Checked the IP address on the phone was in France. Connected phone to my PC, ran IFakelocation and did the usual steps.

    • Oui oui?

      • Oui

        • Merci…

    • Thanks!!! it did work for me. Use Kaspersky VPN was in france for my old iphone 7. Then open my paid app iMyFone Anyto on my windows laptop to go in desired location. Then start my Fuel Price Lock as Normal. Max 25c/L discount for fuel is not bad at all.

  • For iOS is there any free VPN allowing France ?

  • Also just noticed the the fuel lock now has max discount of 25c/litre. With the large divergence in prices, this max discount of 25c will likely be maxed out regularly

    • +1

Party is over for those huge discounts.

    • :(

  • +2

My rooted phone is giving me A01 errors too
Ctrl+F'd A01 on the archive view of this thread without realising I was looking at page 1 (comments from 2022) and all the suggestions were to use another account. So I tried that. Still didn't work.

Moved to page 4 once I realised they were old comments. Followed suggestions around using VPN (Surfshark) to the state of the lock I want it from. Still didn't work

Tried VPN'ing to the last state that I pumped in (VIC). No luck. Lol

Btw, I'm not in Australia. I'm fuel locking for my family. People that were saying "7-Eleven has to detect you're either in the correct state, or overseas" - yea, that overseas part didn't work for me.

  • +39

OK figured out how to get around the a01 error. At least for me using ifakelocation and iPhone.

    1. Lock a location in the browser
    2. Search for fuel price in app
    3. Don't lock. Go back to the browser and press the "stop fake location" button.
    4. Since you're still locked into the location, you can hit lock and it should work.

    Good luck.

    • Thanks. That worked.

    • I suspect the same concept should work across all set ups

      • Don't think it's working on 3U Tools.
It forces the phone to reboot in order to reset the true location

    • Wait, what? Lock a location in the… browser…?

      • +1

It's how you do it via ifakelocation method.

    • Legend!

    • ios17?

    • VPN is working for some

      • +3

Given the success people are having, I suspect the key step is simply turning off your fake location once your app has searched for a site - but not locked in.

This can be easily applied to all helicopter set ups.

    • Thank you!

    • Well now the devs will fix this and no one can lock. Thanks

      • +1

        Huh

      • -1

People might down-vote but you're right, let's face it.

    • LEGEND. WORKED!

    • you're legend mate, that worked!

    • +2

Tried on iphone8 on ios 14.1; didn't work.

      1. Locked in WA
      2. Searched for the price and displayed it on the 7-11 screen
      3. Did not lock. Went back to browswer and stopped fake location. Confirmed via google maps, it brought me back to NSW.
      4. Clicked lock, but same error A01.

      @csider

    • worked fine thx

    • Can confirm this worked for me today.

Can also confirm there's a chance your device is banned. My main phone which has a long history of abuse can't lock in any prices, even with genuine location. Worked on a secondary device.

    • thank you, that worked for me

    • +1

I tried to price lock yesterday, using this method on an iPhone. It did not work first time for some reason (I got error A01), but tried again after a couple of minutes and it worked this time.

    • This worked today! (5/5/24)

I turned VPN off before locking as well – doesn't seem to be needed then?

      • Update: to answer my own question, tried again without VPN, but it didn't work.

        Had to do this:

        1. Set location in iFakeLocation
        2. Find fuel price
        3. Turn off iFakeLocation
        4. Turn on VPN
        5. Lock in fuel price
  • Rip >25c saving end already anyway. Rough Calculation from my last fuel tonight. Fun over:(

Cheers @master131 and some other main contributors.

With cap 25c saving which is not worth it? Unless the 2 servos stop the price war and sell inferior fuels or moving out and the distance to drive there.

    • +2

If there's a place near you that you can reach that is more than 25c cheaper than 7 eleven then that is where you should go.

    • Only worth it if 7/11 Mobil is competitively priced nearby.

  • +8

It's great that people have found workarounds to be able to keep locking in, but with the maximum discount of 25 cents per litre, it's no longer the best option in many cases.

I had a fuel lock for 182.9 but my local 7 Eleven had a fuel price of 231.9, so the price only came down to 206.9 which is higher than some other petrol stations even without any discount.

Looks like the party is over sadly.

    • +2

same with me locked for 177.9 and nearby 7/11 was always high at 219.9 so paid 194.9.

there was a local brand nearby me trading at 197.9 always cheaper than 7/11 .

looks like not worth anymore as we have to find 7/11 cheaper nearby as well.

7/11 doesn't even compete with nearby competitors anymore like Coles Express.

    • Really? You have 711s charging that much over?

      • +3

7/11 has always been a rip off, the fuel lock methods were just a way to circumvent that.

      • not as huge a price gap, but a few weeks back when i had a lock of 1.739, my nearest 711 was displaying 2.029. no 25cpl cap then

      • @ csider: Yes, I'm in Melbourne and we are at the top of the fuel price cycle at the moment.

      • I'm having decent luck still with the 25c cap. Chopper has it at 173, closest independent at 184, and 7-eleven at 193. Chopper works beautifully in this case.

You have to time it with the fuel cycle a bit more, no more filling up when it's at 212. But you'd be still getting the best price more days than not I would say

  • +1

Is there a way to see more than 3rd cheaper in your state (as in project zero three) that way you can drive to one of those if on your way and 25c less, not the best price but still helpful if one of those are below $2 and the ones you scan nearby are over.

The problem is still top 3 in my state are still very far but maybe top 5,6,7 might be not too far a drive

    • +1

Probably best to use the 7-eleven website and input your postcode.

    • I use the ServoTrack app. Filter for only 7-Eleven and it will list from 5 to 20 stations in your area. You can re-size area to suit you.

      • App looks decent.
        Shame no VIC

        • Didn't know it only worked for NSW, that is a shame.

          • +1

            @BellaWii: Not only NSW,
It’s also NSW, QLD, SA, WA, TAS, NT, ACT… all the important ones

              • +1

                @chingy213: Hey… As a fellow Vic, I’m sad too… PetrolSpy it is.

                • @Zuelly: Does PetrolSpy update directly from 7-Eleven?

                  • +1

@sween64: No its crowd sourced data.

                    • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: I mean, yes but no…
Look at all the 7/11 around Melb.
Right now they all updated 43-45m ago. I assume they scrap their data from Masters API… No username submission aswell. You’ll find EG Ampol are also like this
Could always be wrong, but I feel it’s not.

                  • +1

@sween64: I think 7/11 are auto. See my post below.
                    or above.. oops

                    • +1

@Zuelly: You can just go to the 7/11 website and lookup the prices.

                      • @Meg4: Honestly didn’t know this.. lol… just spoof around for deals.

                        Thanks!
