  • Might try filling up a few L tomorrow just to get a feel what's going on with the recent saga…

  • +4

Happened to me as well. Locked interstate price but no discount when scanned at the register. Next day (today) email comes through telling me I've breached their T's and C's so account is now blocked.

Have been locking without issues for the past 5 or so years so they must have upped their detection strategy.

    • Exact same issue here, just received the email :(

Locking in a WA price and claiming in VIC was probably a big red flag, although it hasn’t been an issue for the past few years.

      • aay lmao

      • +1

How long after locking in the price did you use it?

    • Same issue here in VIC also. Tried 3 times with different accounts and different servos.

      • Was your locked in price from VIC or a different state?

        • Curious to know too. May help to determine if same state locking remains under the radar.

          • @PorkHunt: And when you locked in the price, how long after did you pump?

        • From WA

    • Same didn't work but no email yet or ban, the woman behind the counter knew what was up though.

    • How long did you wait before utilising it? Less or more than 12 hours?

  • +3

How is locking an interstate price a breach of the T&Cs?
You could legitimately have flown to WA (for any reason) locked in a price, come back home and used it at your local.
If you're locking a WA price and using it an hour later in NSW, then that's a red card. But if you leave 24 hours in between that should be perfectly legitimate.

    • 6 interetate locks on 6 accnts have been used successfully instore in the last 48hrs, the quickest use was approx 12hrs after locking.

      • Right. There you go. Just gotta be smart about it.

        • Let us know if you manage to lock and redeem and interstate lock and not get banned. I think the party is over.

          • @sween64: I've been locking interstate when i'm sitting in my car at 711 and then using it right away. Got banned last week because I tried to lock a different fuel type 5 mins after paying for mine though. Trying to work out a bypass but so far no luck. My phone is doing the thing where the app crashes as soon as you press the lock button.

            • @Agret:

I've been locking interstate when i'm sitting in my car at 711 and then using it right away

Yeah just seems like maybe they've finally gotten around to adding a time check for interstate locks and redemption. I mean people actually using it as intended according to their original design and t&cs probably wouldn't be locking and then fuelling up on the same day. Wouldn't be surprised if they eventually add a distance limit as well.

              • @vawiyoci: I think they already have. Long ago, I locked in the same state, but regional and filled up within 24hrs in the metro. Discount denied and account was flagged.

                • @skid: You mean distance check? Weird cos I was in a similar situation as Agret described above, locking interstate and instantly fuelling up without issue for years until last week.

    • The actual breach of the T&Cs is the manipulation of your device location. I just got banned

You must not manipulate the location information reported by your Device when using the App (even if such manipulation is a feature of the Device, for example, under “developer options”). 7-Eleven may suspend or cancel your 7-Eleven Account if 7-Eleven has reasonable grounds to suspect that the location information reported by your Device has been manipulated.

Maybe if you leave the device location interstate for a day, like you've said, might be able to trick them

      • How long did you wait before utilising it? Less or more than 12 hours?

        • Yeah, less than 12 hours - I think this was my mistake.

    • -3

How is locking an interstate price a breach of the T&Cs?

If you haven't physically been in the 'location' to lock in the price, it is a breach of the T&Cs under device manipulation etc.

You could legitimately have flown to WA (for any reason) locked in a price, come back home and used it at your local.

Then you would have physically been there then to lock the price in….

If you're locking a WA price and using it an hour later in NSW, then that's a red card. But if you leave 24 hours in between that should be perfectly legitimate.

      Bingo, see my first point.

I locked in 98 fuel from Perth about 5 days ago from Vic. Just filled up and got my discount.

    • Hmm curious. I wonder if they've only flagged low U91 prices and not U98 prices.

      • +1

I locked in U95 at NSW a couple of days ago from VIC. Used it a couple of hours later, no issues.

      • +1

I've been locking in 98 fuel and got banned so I don't think it's limited to U91

  • -3

last week, acc got banned. Interstate lock in was 2 hrs from actually usage.

    Someone, please test the following:

    1) Does interstate lock in with 12hrs+ waiting time works or not?

    2) Does lock in within your state work at the fuel station with less than 12hr lock in?

    • Agreed. We should test this.

      • I've been locking interstate and redeeming 5 min later but haven't been banned in my multiple years of usage. I doubt theres an automatic ban system if I haven't been banned. New accounts I make on separate devices do get banned though, so maybe they target new accounts.

        • so maybe they target new accounts

Eh I was in the same usage case as you and another commenter slightly above apparently was as well, and we all ended up getting G09'd.

        • nah they got my account that was years old.

  • +1

I'm locking in 98 today from WA and I'm located in Vic. Won't be filling up until the weekend though

  • Geoport is no longer working using iphone.

    • Geoport still works on IPad. Locked in 3 hours ago, but will wait a couple more days before I use it.

      • different state?

        • +1

Locked in WA price from VIC.

  • +1

I successfully redeemed an interstate lock today and I have not been banned.

I locked in U91 for 164.9 last Tuesday night, today I redeemed it at a store with a local price of 177.7. I'm guessing because I waited over six days my account wasn't flagged.

    • +2

I'm guessing because I waited over six days my account wasn't flagged.

When they read your comment here though, they'll fix that in the next update…

    • +2

I have given up, now paying full price

  • So 2 accounts were G09, locked in after changing ID and clearing data (android)

Was 2:30pm when locked for first, tried to use at 5:30pm and it G09.

Used another account and did on the spot and it locked too.

I locked for a different account at 2:30, that account is still okay (Will not redeem until another day) It seems it G09 when using the barcode if under a certain time…

    • +3

I had family do it just over 3 hours apart and it worked.. just under it blocked the account..

  • Just had my account blocked. Locked in Perth and tried to use about an hour later in Melbourne. The fuel lock did not scan at the bowser so I had to pay full price. I then lodged a request for a fuel lock price match in the app, and today received notification that my account has been blocked.

Time to make a new one, I guess!

    • +1

Locked in Perth and tried to use about an hour later in Melbourne.

      Flying at mach 3 ?

      • Something like that.

    • this is exactly what happened to me. i was very confused at the counter, paid full price

  • Sent a screenshot of the barcode to a family member as I usually do and they were told they needed to use the app to apply the discount.

      • Just use an app like sto card or add it to the wallet if you have an iphone. Sometimes some people show the barcode as a screenshot. If your display is set to dim, then store attendants know it's a screenshot since it doesn't auto brighten.

      • I'm not even sure how the staff would even know

        Some look.

  • +1

Just got long standing account blocked trying to use within couple mintues with WA locked to QLD

    • Same here. After locking in WA tried to use in QLD, discount did not apply and soon after G09 error.
Now need to work out for interstate locks how long is safest waiting period to redeem without getting blocked.

      • +1

To counter against these time checks, i guess if we had to use a fuel locks immediately just lock cheapest within ur state?

        • +2

Only if the cheapest within your state is within the vicinity of where you're actually filling up.
Just lock the cheapest nationwide a few days before you think you'll need it.

  • +1

I just locked in 98 fuel from Perth located in Vic. Interestingly geoport wasn't working yesterday but it worked today.

I won't be filling up until Sunday. 🤞

  • Has anyone managed to get Geoport untethered wifi connection working on Windows 10? I know the wifi devices may not appear when the phone is locked and that the devices should be on the same LAN / Subnet as bonjour assuming this is the service running in Windows from an iTunes install. I have successfully connected via USB but it will not appear in the list untethered even after a number of refreshes.

    • Yes, wifi connection works for me in Windows 10. It was trouble-free and the iphone was connected to the same router as the Windows 10. You might have to have the iphone connected first and then start up geoport.

      • Tried that and it still doesn’t appear on the list

    • I use geoport on Windows 10 using an iPhone 12 with the latest update. Worked fine so far and i don't use VPN. I use my home wifi when locking in price.

      • but still cant lock the fuel price even after changing the location via geoport

  • Whoops! Have 2 accounts and had a voucher in both accounts. When one didnt work i quickly logged into the other one and tried to scan that one. Locked in a WA fuel price and used in NSW 2 hours later. Now both accounts are blocked. Annoying thing is my velocity account was linked to one of the accounts. Now i cant unlink that and link it to a new signup account. Anyone have a workaround?

    • Anyone have a workaround?

      Buy fuel elsewhere…

    • +2

Scan velocity card during check out.

    • This is why I unlinked my velocity account from my (now banned) account many months ago. Not worth the risk.

  • Got the G09 error this morning. Just going to spend the remainder of my gift cards purchased through shop back and then I'm taking my money else where. This was their only unique selling point.

    • +3

Those gift cards, if they’re the Visa type, can be used at most service stations.

    • -2

      LOL Taking your money elsewhere…..
