if time is money, what are you doing here? you knew this will happen, the website will take a massive hit, so if your time is so valuable, do something else.

  • +2

Bought a 640GB seagate for $68 (including shipping). Site was slow but had to be patient.
    Good deal.

    • is it usb powered or does it have a power cable?

      • USB Powered

      • USB

        • usb portable drive,
Seagate stock is looking fishy, but plenty of Samsung to go.

        • I much rather Samsung than Seagate anyway.

        • cheers guys
          picked up the 500gb for $58 (49 + shipping)

  • +5

It would have been better, if Rep could have told everyone earlier that online site would be available after so much hours or time. Would have saved those negged.
Now its too late, saying go to bed and wait. He was with all of ozbargain members and could have told earlier to save everyone's time.

    • +4

what are u on about he warned everyone of downtime. any idiot who knwos anything about computers wouldve expected the massive hammering of the servers.

from what i see he hasnt done anything wrong. get over urselves, no need to say all this hindsight crap cause u cudnt buy a $1 usb stick.

      • -3

Looks like, you already spent ur $1. BTW I was not after USB like you. I have plenty of them. So go to sleep and talk later, when you are not drunk.

  • +2

Just got out at Heidelberg. Got there 12 midnight and about 80 ppl ahead of me. Queued 90 mins. Similar length line there now. No more 1.5TB HDDs left (i got 3rd last one). They have some 2TB ones for $99 and heaps of 1TB left.

    • +1

WTF? No more 1.5TB HDDs left? MLN guy said he's got THOUSANDS some minutes ago!!!

    • I don't understand why people waste their life waiting in a queue when they could just log in from home and pay $9 shipping. I turned on my computer about 2am, got onto the site straight away, bought 3 items that I wanted (all for $9 shipping) and all from the comfort of my bed!

  • -2

    Bought a G560 for $497 Plus $29~~

    • +6

      finally he will stop whinging

  • +4

1.5tb from what I can see has been pulled as we cannot gaurantee online availability, after being slammed here online for overselling, everyone is a little too scared.
So guys you cant have it both ways.
many other products have been added,

just clcik on the second banner on the front page of the website

  • Bleh came to the Melbourne store @ like 11:55 i'm still in line

    • Ouch! When the announcement about "10 people in store at a time" was made at Essendon, I did a quick calculation and figured some of the people inline were unlikely to get in before 2:30am - 3:00am. Good luck out there tonight!

  • +2

    More product has been added
More products will be added over the next 24 hour period.

    https://www.mln.com.au/search/?type=search&searchItem=boxing…

This list will continue to change,

Backup servers kicked in, and site seems to be running ok now for about 30 minutes now, if it does go down again it will come back up again.

  • guys, there is no more line at heidelberg store, theres plenty of everything when i left

by 2.30am the store will be empty

  • +1

MLN Rep, for my order I chose BAY when checkout, however can I pay via Internet Banking with Order# for reference? Since I have an A/c with ANZ, I think it'll be instantaneous.

    • +1

      yes
as long as you use your web order ID: its fine

  • -1

    $1 usb's in store only

    • its in the link provided above.

  • So I've put in an order for 3 items… how do I pay??

    • You go to the cart, and then put in your details and then select one of the three payments options?

Internet banking, Bpay or (can't remember third one actually, but similar to these). No credit card/Paypal options available.

      Hope that helps?

      • Ah crap. I was a smartass and I made an account beforehand.. now it's all confusing..
I'm making another order, this time I'll pay for it.
Edit: I've changed my mind. I've realised I don't really want it. More stock for others. :)

  • +5

stop freaking complaining about the lines. First come first served. If you came about 20 minutes before midnight like i did, you would be able to get everything you want.

Those complaining about the slow website, what do you expect, the website doesn't get this amount of traffic everyday and it's slow because everybody wants a bargain. SO DEAL WITH IT YOU WHINGERS

  • +13

Placed an order and paid for my items online, am very happy.

Thanks for all the hard work MLN. It's difficult with a bunch of tight and very cheap people who like complaining, but you're doing amazingly well. I personally can't see how you put up with some of these guys, so good job.

Also, nice website, will definitely recommend to friends. :)

  • +3

    status update on store cues
all store cues are pretty much the same, they are moving slowly but shorely,
there is more than enough stock for everyone
this is not a stunt promotion.
    We have plenty available.

  • to the Rep, i managed to buy a HDD 45 minutes ago when the site was struggling to load, at that time I wanted to buy something else as well but couldn't get through. So I paid for my order via bank transfer. Is it possible now to buy something else and be shipped together? I don't want to pay for shipping again while I could have had them all shipped together for $9 if the site was working properly?

    • yes it its fine,
      put it all together
or just create a new order,
      you have enough time,
      site is working fine,

      • yes but I mean can I add other items into my order which I have already paid for? because if I make a new order I will be charged the shipping cost again while I only had 1 product in my last order

        • if you can calculate the shipping correctly
then yes it will get processed properly.

          edit:
Guys please just create one order,
there has been over 2300 orders this last 3 hours, so I think it would be best to just order once and to do it correctly.
Normally I would say it wouldnt be a problem, but looking at it now, this will cause a lot of mistakes
Please treat each order as though they are unique and on their own, I am not in a position to change the rules on this.

        • would you mind show me how to do it? for example I bought a HDD with shipping $9 and paid for it already. Now I want to buy 2 more products, can I just do another bank transfer to MLN for the price of those 2 products with the order number as reference? I am sure 3 of them in the same order only cost $9 shipping

        • I would like to do this as well. How do I do it? Can I make a new order and pay for the items without paying for the shipping so you can send them together?

        • I would like to too if possible, it would only save me $9 but $9 is $9! Can I combine the two, take off $9 then put the two invoice numbers as the reference when doing a payment?

I worked it out by doing an order of all the items to see what the combined shipping would be but didn't progress the order to just get a total

        • is the rep still on here?

        • It would appear so, but he isn't replying to our question.

        • oh well I may just transfer money to them for the additional items with the order number as reference and an email to explain. It would be funny if they don't want to have more items sold just because of this.

        • I too just paid the lesser price and put the two order numbers in the payment reference part of internet banking.

        • MLN 1 hour 3 min ago

Well I've already paid for both orders except I didn't include the $9 shipping for the second order and I sent you guys an email. I assumed when you said "if you can calculate the shipping correctly then yes it will get processed properly" we could do this.

The problem is I can't make a new order now because the items are no longer available. I made the first order when your website was laggy and the site didn't even have all the updated boxing day sale prices for the other items.

        • +1

too late, already did what you originally said and have already paid!

        • Orpheus
please send an email to the online store
I'm sure they will do what is right for you.

  • +4

Long time time OzBargainer but I rarely comment if ever.
Just want to back up MLN, the website was slow but it has picked up speed alot now and we were able to order our laptop with no fuss via bank deposit.
So I am happy now my sister has a laptop as a belated XMAS gift =p

The $1 dollar USB is up by the way:
    https://www.mln.com.au/product/?itemID=1030&typeID=

It seems to be they are doing a good job, heck the Rep didn't need to be here to listen to all the abuse but he/she stayed on, giving cred for that.
    Thanks!

    • the negs were totally unnecessary and childish, it is a 24 hour sale that is still ongoing right now and people judge it prematurely, i had a peek at their storeroom and the stockpile is no joke, it would take an entire power grid to power up all those devices.

i would rather neg those customers wasting time in the store browsing for logitech speakers, one family of 4 bought just one laptop, total facepalm events…

  • hey guys..just got back from their store in west melbourne…in term of bargain..not worth queing up 90 mins just to get 640gb samsung portable but i already queue up so…oh well for me….other stuff not really interesting..so good luck to u guys out there

    • -2

I changed my mind and bough a laptop from centrecom after including shipping it's almost the same price but I got a better spec.

  • +4

warning: please allow yourself about 2 hours. There will be a long queue and there will be plenty of people there.

    my story:
I got sucked in by the $1 for 4gb stick promise.
So I was there at 5 minutes past mid-night but there was already a long queue.
I then waited for 1 and a half hour before I can get into the tiny store.
I was pretty annoyed for waiting so damn long.

managed to get $1 sticks, plus some 2.5" external hard drives - all at good prices.
then waited a bit more for checking out.
(the $500 lenovo laptop is very popular with Indians. Many of them buying more than 2 each)
but for some reasons, I was no longer annoyed.

I walked out feeling happy. I am not sure because I scored a bargain or because I finally got out of there.

    it was quite an experience.

    • very minimal to no line at stores now
still have lots and lots of stock

  • +3

i would say that some of the things added in the boxing day specials, aren't really specials. they are just normal priced. hurray for advertising.

    • +2

      if you say so,
I do not agree with you at all.

  • welcome to our little version of black friday, at least no ones been trampled yet:)

  • +3

Love being in Perth when you have sales online that start at midnight! Thanks MLN!!

    • +5

      Your welcome rmk
if you notice our online delivery prices are the same for everyone across the country, so you guys get it good like that as well, only downside delivery takes a bit longer to Perth.

  • +2

Rep, can you reply to our questions above please?

  • There has been close to 3000 web orders, so some products will start to get pulled offline now.

    • +2

that's impressive, I suppose the extra custom makes up for the cheaper prices .. I would never have purchased from you if it a) hadn't been for Ozbargain and b) your discounted prices!

  • +5

Ordered a 2tb hdd and that $1 usb online - excellent prices :)

Hope this all works out! Yeah ignore the whingers - it'll happen even if things were being given away for free

  • +3

Rep go to bed mate - working hard!

  • Ordered 2 external drives and 1 $1 dollar stuff. Hopefully order can arrive soon.

    • Monday and Tuesday are a public holiday
though we will be open, couriers will not
delivery is 5-14 as specified on the website.

  • Hi, I'm looking for a basic notebook for my father - could anyone suggest any products from the site? :)

    • depending on what he would like to do really.

  • -4

Ok so i can't buy the $1 usb (not the only thing i want), it tells me to call you…

LIMITED SUPPLY IF PRODUCT SELLS OUT WILL BE REPLACED WITH EITHER A TOSHIBA OR LEXAR 4GB USB DRIVE, WHERE POSSIBLE.

When is this going to happen?

    • +6

      In store
Mate we have sold thousands, I am sure some of these were at least Ozbargainers who also were able to buy
There are over 3500 web orders now, and pretty much all of them have 2 X $1 USB sticks,
Plus we had over a thousand people go through our 4 stores.
There are thousands of people who will get a drive or who already have one.

I understand your sceptical but your going to far.

maybe the people here can tell you what the average order was?
those who have ordered have ordered,
      no more online

Go instore and you can still buy and this option will be given instore.

      $49 hard drive,
+ 2 USB sticks or along those lines.
was a common order, and I am sure they were all pretty much ozbargainers

There are no more currently allocated to online orders, I never said we had 50,000 4GB USB sticks.
if stock does not sell today in store, it may get added to the online store at night say after 8-9pm.

Once again stock will sell out, this is the purpose of this sale. We are trying to sell everything, everything is not going to be continously available.
Web orders stopped for a little then the USB sticks were pulled.
thousands of orders went with USB sticks.

If you look carefully the real bargains are not the 4GB USB sticks, your saving $7-10 per stick?
plenty of other products that offer much larger savings.
I am sure you can find something else to save on.

The website has been working fine for the past 5 and a so hours.

The available list is constantly chaning, new things are being added and some are being taken off,
I can spot heaps of bargains on this list, I will leave to some of you guys to spot,
twitter and facebook feed will haev other deals going as well.

      https://www.mln.com.au/search/?type=search&searchItem=boxing…

      • I didn't neg because of the lack of stock. I understand that you would sell out quickly. I negged because I stayed up almost to 1am to try to get an order in, and couldn't. So i went to bed. I wake up around 6am and the stock is gone? Had the store been prepared for the sale it knew was going to be big, it would've been a positive.

        • +3

Mm, isn't that sort of unfair? It's like saying that MLN should have waited specifically for you and reserved stock for you instead of selling it to someone else because you wanted to go to bed.

I myself had troubles, but stayed up until 2am and managed to get the products I wanted. Yes it was a bit of a wait and was difficult, but if you want to pick up a good bargain and save some money it's worth it.

If you are going to let a sale go pass you and are not willing to wait a while despite knowing that stocks are limited, then you can't really complain about stock running out. :S

        • -1

I'm not saying they should have waited, i'm saying they should have been ready, had the stock at the prices they advertised at the time they advertised. Not too much to ask.

        • -1

we were ready as humanly possible, your requests are completely unreasonable.

        • my requests are unreasonable? you specifically advertised that you would be ready at midnight, and you weren't. I first got onto the site at 20 past midnight brisbane time and the prices had not changed. it's not my fault you weren't ready when you said you would be.

  • Morning peeps,

Say what! No 1.5tb HDDs. Stuff that, going to Centrecom, even If I have to wait

    • I am going to write it here,
This drive has been discontinued, so I am very curious to see where they will get theirs from.

Funny how every deal we did, is there for $1 less.
Anways, I cant show you our weborders and how they went.

Anyone can buy 200 hard drives and sell them for $1 less than others when the purpose is to water your competitors sale down.
      Good luck

      • +2

You were selling the Samsung G3 Station for $65
Centrecom are selling the Samsung Story Station for $64

I'm pretty certain the Story drive is newer then a G3?

        • Yeah for sure it is, when you have them in stock, Miraculously 20 minutes after we start to promote our sale, and the distributer is closed.
          We shall see

  • +1

Thanks for the sale MLN. Managed to get 2 x 640gb portables samsungs. Not seagates but good enough even though I can't remove the drives and use them elsewhere. The guy at west melb showed me the queues at midnight. OMG it was even more crazy than richmond last night :) anyway I arrived this morning and was served immediately with no queuing just the way I liked it :)

  • +5

hell hath no fury like bargain-hunters who are made to wait.
The bigger the deal, the greater the reaction.

Good work MLN, ignore the minorty that aren't appreciative of what you're doing.

  • +3

I must say that atleast MLN have good quantity of stock. Usually, you are not able to get anything with specials (eg. CatchOfTheDay) as they only get a few and do the sales for marketing.
THey need to open up a store in Sydney as well.

Also, I picked up the seagate 640GB last night. I have couple of Samsung already (500gb and 1TB) and they seem to work ok. They not as good as Western Digital ones. Hences, I figured try the Seagate. Seagate don't have a great reputation either.

  • Saw the queue on this video on MLN's Facebook page:

    http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1643217394906

We should be glad that all we got was a slow website…

    • +1

Scotty I was told the queue went past the bright white light in the video (if you look into the tree in the video you can see there are people beyond this point), and if you know Peel st. it went past the stop lights on the street,
We served all of these people and stock was pretty much available to all of them

  • +2

Guys let the guy(MLN) rest, he's been working an all nighter
Look how many mistakes he has:
The available list is constantly chaning, new things are being added and some are being taken off,
    .
twitter and facebook feed will haev other deals going as we
    .
    status update on store cues
all store cues are pretty much the same, they are moving slowly but shorely,
    .

    MLN
    "thanks
    too sleepy!"
He's too sleepy, let him have a rest, geez

    • +7

      I did it again,
      yes I am very tired,

waiting for the rest of the crew to arrive, which should be in the next 10 minuts then I am off

Hopefully you guys will not set me or this post on fire while I am away
I will be back around 5:30pm EST (Melbourne time)
so please let me sleep until then, as I have been awake since Xmas lunch yesterday.
If you guys go crazy and start a riot, they are going to call me in.
I would love to have a rest!
      Promise to be back!

  • +6

Thanks guys, you guys are doing an awesome job bringing us bargains and resolving questions online, we're a bunch of nerds who lined up last night and now are all glad that we're 1.5TBs richer, XD

Thanks again, you guys are great!! MLN FTW!

  • +5

    Ok I am leaving now,
please be good and nice at least until I return
    :)

    thank you!
    good night!

    • +5

Have a nice, well earned sleep dude! :)

  • +1

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/36896

Come on MLN, surely you can do better than Hardly Normal.

  • +4

Well, I'm just a simple hyperchicken from a backwoods asteroid, but if it pleases the court it sure looks to me like there's still a fair bit of stock available on a decent range of things, and the website looks pretty darn stable to me ATM! ;)

I think it would be a nice gesture; and some would say in the Xmas spirit; if some of those folks who were so scathing of MLN & the rep overnight were decent enough to retract their rather nasty accusations & maybe even a neg or two…the sale looks straight-up to me, and how the hell do you defend a site from an OZBDDOS attack! :p

    • +4

      +1
He told us that their website will have major traffic, and he even answered many questions for us. I doubt any of us could do any better, at one stage even Ozbargain was slowing down due to high traffic.

      • +3

agreed, the rep have forewarned that the site was going to be unreliable come midnight and the best chance is go to the stores.

  • Just came back from essendon store. No line plenty of stock of everything. No more 1.5th drives from what I saw. USB are toshiba. For a buck it's a bargain +ve for me when I log in on a comp

  • +1

Hey MLN, great sale. Just wondering, I ordered online (got the email order number back by email) a laptop that is listed on the Boxing Day Sale. What happens if I can't make the payment today? eg. Banks are closed today and for the next two days. Do I still get it at the Boxing Day sale price when I make the payment in a few days time?

    • Hi Scaryface
      it will depend on availablilty,
priority will obviously go to those who ordered and paid.
