Not sure if any of the pre-built vendors here have better specs for $2k, but the price appears to be the standard cyclical price posing a fake discount to appear a better deal.

Ridiculous RRP, inflated price jack, and then offer 20% off code. Here's the same thing from 1st Nov: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/874570

And once I apply the 20% code, cashback will be invalid.

I did compare other options , like Nebula. But this specs combination seems a great deal for me.

      • You'll want to check if the CPU issues are fixed, and whether HP have any proprietary parts which makes future upgrades difficult. Dell seems to be the worst for it, but not sure if HP do the same too.

        • +1

Future upgrades…….just buy a new PC

It is a reasonable deal, not expensive, and there isn’t anything comparable that is cheaper at the moment! Especially if gift cards (elusive with a big discount) are used

    • It's 5k right now though and I want one.

Just wait for the next "sale" cycle and it'll revert back. Either boxing day or new year sale.

  • Do hp have a firmware update for the CPU over volting of 14th gen CPUs?

From memory the thermals aren't great in this case and I don't know if the components are proprietary

    • +1

I can confirm that they have the bios updates that have the latest microcode fixes, for the i9 atleast. I use a 45L omen at work.

    It's a great value but
    600W Gold PSU (Prefer 750W?)
Single Fan 2 heat pipes Cooler (4 or 6 pipes with 2 fans?)
    Unknown Mobo/Rams/Video/SSD Brands.
For this reason, I didn't pull the trigger last time and still can't make a decision. It'll cost min $2,500 if I choose reputable brands for everything.

    • It’s not unknown though.

HP makes their own boards, so you are essentially getting everything HP video card with Nvidia chip.

SSD is normally reputable brands just that you wouldn’t know from specs.

Price is reasonable and backed by HP support.

  • Be careful if you want to upgrade by yourself as it has no other sata and pci e left, no one!

    • Have you got this one?
If yes, do by you think it should have more than 2 USB ports on the top?

      • How many usb ports do you need and what are you connecting? With a couple on every monitor, and several on the back, is that enough?

I cant see any use for front usbs other than a portable hdd……

Cooling setup on these HP desktops is garbage.

2 minutes of gaming and you’ll instantly be throttled down to -50fps.

    • +1

      Proof?

      • The cpu cooler….

    • I will buy it and test it ☺️☺️
