Am I the only person who wonders if that case holds exactly 25 litres?

    • +1

      same…

      • +5

could calculate the physical dimensions; width x length x depth. Their website shows specs but it ends up being closer to 29L

        • Well that's disappointing. Please find 4L that doesn't count to satisfy my OCD, perhaps the PSU area…

          • @cook99: I had a look at the pictures on their website, the feet add some height and maybe the unusable front panel area me thinks

              @Magicmannn: Thanks @Magicmannn.
I'll purchase this and pour 29 cartons of milk inside to confirm. Will report back results so we can all finally sleep at night.

  • 32 GB DDR5-4800 MHz RAM

Didn't even know ddr5 got this slow

    • It's JEDEC standard, can go as low as 4000MHz.

  • buy.. think later… or sell later…

  • How does the eBay plus free returns work with such an item?

    Not worth.

Overpriced almost, and with the cpu crashes too (which are have a chance of still being in this pc as I doubt HP buys for order)

    • If you don't re install windows it's going to be full of bloat.
    • The BIOS update to fix the Intel bug is available through Windows Update.

      • The microcode updates are not a "fix" in any sense of the word. They reduce CPU performance by 10-15% and if your silicon was already degraded due to the elevated operating voltage issue prior to applying the microcode updates then they won't magically turn back the clock, so your CPU will remain forever (profanity), unstable (potentially causing BSODs/crashes) and with a reduced lifespan.

        • So would there be degradation on brand new build like this?

          Before update: CPU crashes
After update: CPU does not crash

That certainly sounds like a fix.

Huh? We are talking about a brand-new PC here.

          • @eug: Its a matter of time. The Issue is in the chip, not just the (now updated) microcode.

What issues does the microcode update not fix?

Negligible performance hit really. A few percent.

          https://wccftech.com/intel-14th-13th-gen-cpus-0x12b-microcod…

On new CPUs you'll probably be fine. Now if the CPU will still last the 8-10 years of life
a cpu could get…who knows, that remains to be seen.

          • @incipient: It could be as mild as a few % and could be as drastic as bsod and crashes etc

  • This or the Techfast $1999 4070 TI S build?

    • +2

Tech fast since you get the steam card

      • +1

I think it’s nebula that’s giving the gift card, tech gives Star Wars outlaws

  • If they have a discount off this on the Education Store I might bite. Currently nothing of the sort though.

    14700F $499
    Cheapest 4070ti super is $1199
basically $1698 for just those parts..

rest of the machine for $283…
this has a gold 600W PSU i think and 32gb of ram..
and a wd black gen 4 ssd perhaps..
and IWndows 11 home I presume..

the techfast is $1988 + delivery,
    but only 16gb of ram..
    750W bronze PSU..
    cheapy gen 4 1tb NVME..

    close call..

    • +2

And a case and a motherboard.

  • How's the warranty like?

  • What Mobo/ssd/drives and ram do they use ? I am assumign generic/oem. So prolly rubbish. Same prolly applies to the gpu. So you get poor cooling poor quality parts. No deal..

Picked this up last time it went on special. Running it as a workstation for Solidworks CAD and Keyshot rendering. Its an absolute beast and couldn't be happier.

    • does cpu have aio or air cooler? also how is airflow/temps with solid side panel?

      • Haven’t really monitored it if im honest. I updated the bios straight away and i haven't had any blue screens or crashes
