It's basically a repeat of this deal but with a ~$800 phone included as well (on 24 months instead of 12 month term).

Compared to this $49/month JB BYO deal, you are paying an extra $240 over the 24 months and giving up $200 JB gift card & 5GB of data; however you are getting a $600-$900ish phone included instead.

If you value the Galaxy S8 at $800 (I think the cheapest deal we saw was $799 for Bing Lee) then you are paying $640 over 24 months for the 15GB contract = $26.66/month which seems like a great deal on the Telstra network and also no upfront cost required. That's probably the best value there since the Pixel XL and iPhone 6s are older models but they are options for Apple users or someone not wanting to go down the Samsung path.

  • There's been some questions about the handset cost, ETCs etc. Here is the order summary I received from Telstra:

    Once off Charges - Go Mobile Plus BYO Plan $59. Samsung Galaxy S8 Payment Contract $0.00

    Ongoing Charges - Go Mobile Plus BYO Plan $59. Samsung Galaxy S8 Payment Contract $0.00

    So - there are NO device charges.

    Now to the CIS (Critical Information Summary) for the F&F plan:

    Early Termination Charge (this is a maximum) $708 - remember this is waived if you recontract to a similar or higher plan.
    "If you cancel your Plan early, you’ll need to pay an Early Termination
    Charge (ETC) and any remaining handset and accessory payments.
    The maximum ETC at the start of your plan is set out in the
    above table."

    Since there are no handset charges, a reasonable person would assume you can deal with the handset as you wish.

  • Spoke to 2 reps on live chat, first one rejected me straight up saying the $59 F&F plan is ineligible for 5GB data promotion. Restarted the chat, got the exact same girl who I quickly disconnected again, LOL.

    Third time lucky, she advised me it was available but I needed to wait until the order was processed and the phone to be delivered, as I'm still on the JB-HiFi $59/deal (which has the extra 5GB data and $10 discount already).

    I was a bit concerned, so she gave me a reference number to our conversation and said once I have the tracking number for my phone, the 5GB bonus should be automatically applied.

    So I placed my order first, and hope it will go smoothly. Hopefully follow up next week.

    • Maybe you didnt wait for the 5GB popup to occur? if so, they were happy to quickly apply it to the order.
      went through 5 orders for this successfully, and I only initiated the chat when the "want 5GB extra?" pop up occurred.

      • Yeah, I think I went too quickly. After I finished with the first rep, I left the chat window open and submitted the order.

        Once the order finalised, the chat window re-opened again but it was to fill out the survey for my last chat, so I'm guessing that's when it should have popped up - but instead, it saw I had already used it.

        Fingers crossed, see what happens next week.

    • Just to update on my situation incase it might help anyone, the reference number helped IMMENSELY as it was definitely not applied after my order was activated. I reverted back from 20GB to 15GB which I also assumed meant I was back on the $59 plan, rather than $49. (This was all within a few days so I hadn't got my bill yet.)

      Luckily, the rep that was so kind on my third attempt had explicitly stated that I should be getting $49/month with 20GB after the order had shipped.

    First step - get 12 months contract from JB Deal ( 49 pm with 200$ voucher )
    Second step - go to telstra website and ask for upgrade pan to F & F ?
    Thrid step - Activate the Cashrewards and open this deal URL in activated window tab ?
    Fourth Step - complete the online order and ask for 5G data bonus ? would it be 20G total or 25G total ?

      your third & second steps are in wrong order.

      activate cashrewards,
      paste link to F&F offer (make sure cashrewards still active using the chrome extension)
      wait for chat, confirm offers (bonus 5GB, no ETC…)
      complete order and give chat rep the order number.

  • I managed to get the upgrade to the 128gb Pixel as well. First rep wouldn't come to the party so I just disconnected and got a new person. I asked for that (and the extra 5gb) and he mentioned it was a "Xmas promotion" for the upgrade to the 128gb. So maybe mention that if you're trying to score the upgrade.

  • Can anyone please confirm if you recontract whether you are entitled to another free 6 month Apple music subscription if you have had one previously? Yesterday my Apple subscription was extended to 22/5/18, but today it has been removed from my account. Anyone else had this happen?

    They have also given a total of 35GB data instead of 20. Anyone else get this too?

    • I had apple music previously and there was no problem activating the 6 free months again. I did read that if you currently are paying for apple music you need to cancel that prior.
      I think i was given more than 20Ggb too. I have 2 accounts -a $40 one with 10GB and this new plan and now have 35GB combined data so i think i got 25GB. 35GB just for this plan is awesome.

  • Anyone know how long a port from TPG to telstra should take? 6 hours and waiting now…(telstra quote 4-24 hours or even up to 48 hours)

      • Nop…still waiting…I escalated the matter and…still waiting…72 hours.

        • Been trying to contact them for the last two days next to impossible. Apparently there was an error with the porting. Firstly they said the account number they got from Optus was wrong (it wasn't) then their excuse was that the Optus number had been disconnected (again hadn't, I was calling from it) had two people say they would call me back about it, never did.

          Haven't even made a call on Telstra yet and I already want out.

    I only was on JB's plan for a little over 24 hours

    I signed up with JB's plan on 21 at 11am and on 23rd around 6pm I switched to F&F plan

    I know I can sort it out by calling or chatting to Telstra but just curious if anyone else got hit by that charge/error

        The problem I believe is that both JB's plan and the F&F plan are called the same. I am not 100% sure but I think this is what I remember reading during the sign up phase online.

        • I just got an email from Telstra advising me of the change in plan to the F&F one and they dropped the data to 15GB (from 20GB)

  • Pricepal is offering $150 cashback for Telstra plans at the moment, not sure if its been mentioned yet. It's better than Cashrewards $105 BUT I've found Pricepal are less reliable with their tracking… Still waiting for them to register my clicks from last week, but states no activity at the moment.

    If you sign up yourself (or someone you know) and have a birthday in November you'll also get $2 cashback for every $1 (essentially double cashback) for 48 hours. I made an account for my mum. Her birthday was on the 19th and she received this offer right after i signed her up. So essentially you may get $300 cashback from Pricepal - just remember to screenshot everything for proof just in case it doesnt track properly!

      • I only use them sparingly as they're tracking system isnt as great as Cashrewards. I have redeemed my cashback from them a while ago, so they seem legit… just very slack.

        • @legelas:For my second mobile service, they didn't budge on $10 credit or int calling pack. Managed to get $10 credit per month from billing after setting up the account. Both are same effectively and $10 credit gives you flexibility so effectively much better. Note: i have multiple services with Telstra

  • I started with the JB hi-fi deal upgraded to Telstra family and friends S8 deal. A day after I activated I asked them about the international calls and mentioned above^^^^ "black friday" they said unfortunately that cannot be applied. I also said I was suppose to get 5gb bonus data and then I said it missed out on my porting discount. Boom $10 discount a month and 5gb bonus which makes 25gb a month think I was just lucky tbh. Thanks again Oz bargain

          If you place the order through the chat cashrewards wouldn't track it. Just signup via cashrewards on the main site and then bug them on chat.
