Campaign T&Cs:

A. Offer eligibility criteria:

  • This offer is only available to new or existing ANZ customers who:

i. Have not held an ANZ Access Advantage account at any stage between 14 November 2016 and 7 March 2017; and

ii. Open an ANZ Access Advantage account via the promotional link between 08 March 2017 and 30 April 2017; and

iii. Make three Visa Debit purchases (in stores, online or over the phone, excludes reversals and ATM withdrawals) on the account using the Visa Debit card linked to this ANZ Access Advantage account before 04 June 2017; the ANZ Access Advantage account must be open at the time your unique Reward Code is sent.

B. Offer terms:

The offer is limited to one unique Reward Code per customer that can be redeemed for a Digital Reward valued at $100. Joint accounts count as one customer and are only eligible for a single unique Reward Code; and

Subject to meeting the eligibility criteria, an unique Reward Code will be emailed to an email address registered to the new ANZ Access Advantage account by 04 July 2017.

ANZ can withdraw this offer at any time between 08 March 2017 and 30 April 2017.

    • My effort was roughly 15 minutes. That's an hourly rate of $400. Not even top notch lawyers/doctors make that much net/hour.
      Already had a credit card with them, though.

  • Forgive me, I know it says apply via the link but is this offer ALSO available if you walk into the branch or is it purely triggered from an online application?

    i.e. If I have to go in and ID myself anyway, can I get a teller to open the account, ID me, (request the debit card) etc. and voila?

      It's online only, and only through that promotion/campaign link. If you went to the ANZ site and opened an account directly it also wouldn't apply.

        Completed online verification but, strangely, still had to go into branch to get ID'd again (but there was no notification etc. to advise as the online verification appeared to complete successfully).

    What was the last thing people were told during their app? I applied, then did the ID verification online with 2 sources, finally finishing with a "congratulations, ID check successfully completed!". But no link or anything to proceed from there?

  • How have you guys managed to verify ID online? I put in my reference number (from the first confirmation email), my last name and DOB into the 'online ID check' form but it says it can't find my application?

      I received two reference numbers, one was for my application reference (received via email) and the other was my reference number which I received as a text message on my phone. This reference number should say it is used for your online ID check. The reference number expires in 90 days.

      • Ahh, thanks. I was using my application reference. Have not received a text message with a second one yet, and it's been a few hours. Hopefully it'll come along soon.

          I applied on the 10th March and got a confirmation email saying my application was being processed, on the 13th March I received an email with my account number saying I had to verify my ID online or in branch. I never received a reference number so gave them a call, the first person I spoke to was very confused and didn't know what a reference number was so put me on hold to check, he came back saying he had to transfer me to another department. Next department is equally as confused and tells me the online ID check is new so I'll have to be put on hold while they find out, she came back saying they don't know why I didn't get a text with my reference number but they'll transfer me to another department. The third department tells me they'll look into it and put me on hold, he came back saying that I have to go in branch to verify as there are some things missing in my application. I ask how this can be as I filled out all the fields on the online application, he did not have an answer for that.
          I went in branch today and he tells me that of course I can't verify my ID online because they don't have that function, so I show him the email from ANZ and the ANZ website, "oh oh um…". I then query about the debit card, I had ticked the option to apply for/receive one during the online application and took a photo, because I knew people had problems previously. He tells me that unless your ID is verified you cannot order a debit card, so it doesn't matter that I selected that option during the application process, it won't work.
          This has been one of the worst bank applications I have experienced.

I eventually gave up waiting for the "verify your ID" email and went into a branch - the guy there was happy to verify the ID for me in person and order me a debit card. He also said that the online ID thing was new and he wasn't sure why I didn't get a text, but was not surprised. Got him to enable internet banking too as apparently when you open an account you don't automatically get internet banking enabled (!!!!)

          Edit - to clarify, I definitely had to ask for the debit card in the branch despite already requesting one on the application, and ask for internet banking. He said I would not have got these things if I had not asked. Arcane!

    • You should still be good. I got the deal last year. Applied for Access Advantage, but when I logged into internet banking it showed it as "Access Cheque Account".

      I made the purchases and got the gift card.

  • Damn, I did not read this properly and applied on 7 March. All went smoothly and already got the Debit Card. Unfortunately I did not qualify for the Promo and do not qualify anymore as I already have this account now…

    ANZ worst bank even. I applied and verified my ID online, a day later got my bank account in email and I transferred $2000 in, but I was not able to withdraw the money as my account has been restricted.

    I called them and they asked me to go to the branch to verify the IDs again, I am their Black Card customer and I asked why they told me they don't know just go to brand to verify the ID again.

  • Anyone know if I can transfer 2k from CBA to my ANZ then transfer it from my ANZ to my wife to waive the fee on her account as well?

      Yes. I asked about the $2000 deposit and was told,

      "There is no restriction to where the money is coming from, so it can be from any of your ANZ Accounts.

      Also there is no restriction on how long the funds stay in the account, so you can transfer it back the same day and the waiver would still apply on your ANZ Access Advantage account."

        I didn't have to verify any ID which might be because I recently got a ANZ CC but managed to do my wifes verification online.

      I also received my card today as well and have setup Apple Pay, looking forward to use it. Yes they have setup the correct account, it's just called an Access Cheque Account. I have checked with my friend who has the same thing.

  • Received the card today, loaded onto my Apply Pay and spent 3x 1 cent transactions with Apply Pay at Woolworths. I don't know how they work out the interchange fees between them.

  • Has anybody had a problem with transferring out of the account? I'm trying to move the $2000 deposit out but it keeps saying my account is restricted. I've gotten the debit card already and activated it. Haven't received the pin yet though. I tried moving only $1000 but it still says my account is restricted :S

    • I applied twice on 8/3 (one for me, one for wife). The accounts were open and ready to use on 9/3. Received both Visa Debit cards in the post on 13/3.

      I think you should call ANZ to find out what is happening with your application.

      I hope that is a typo. The $100 gift card offer was only for applications from 8/3 onwards (though the OP posted this deal on 7/3). Fingers crossed they honour the gift card for you

        OK, so last week, I called the Call Centre and was told that my Identification was incomplete and that I should go into Branch to do that. Funny I did not receive one communication from ANZ about this, and I would've remained in the dark had I not called!!!
        So, I immediately went into Branch and completed the necessary ID paperwork including ordering my debit card.
        Debit card turned up in the mail today, and the sticker said to activate card, I have to log into Internet Banking. So I called them to arrange that, but horrors, they can't proceed because there's a restraint on my account, placed by the Branch that requires me to go in again!!! Jeeeeezzzzz…. what an incompetent Bank!!!
        So people, be aware of the nonsense you will encounter when dealing with this Bank….

    Application was painless for me. Didn't even have to verify ID in branch because I was an existing customer. Got the debit card in the post.

    • Did you receive your PIN straight away? I received my card two weeks ago but still don't have a PIN and my wife's last week without a PIN yet either.

      • I went in and set up my pin at a branch today. Had to show drivers licence and medicare card but took about 2 minutes.

          Yeh I waited 40min to verify my wifes ID as her account was restricted before finding out I would have to queue again if I want to setup a PIN with the Teller. hopefully it arrives in the mail, honestly ANZ have been the worst bank to head into a branch by far…

        • @ArabMoneeey: I agree ANZ has been difficult, had to do the same thing verifying my id at branch, even though online id check went through fine. Took a long phone call to work out that was why my account was restricted (and only after getting a declined message trying to pay for groceries). Luck bank was very quiet this morning for me.

        • @17833: Yep my wife had to verify hers even though online was fine, mine was fine as I recently got it verified when I got a travel adventurers CC which also took more than 45min to see someone.. I wonder if I can just pay via android/apple pay, if that qualifies as a purchase I wont have to worry about the PIN for now I suppose.

          Never going to bank with ANZ again…

    I'm just dumbfounded that ANZ is literally paying those of us who persevere $100 to experience how totally incompetent they are.

      I believe as long as you have the $2,000 in the account by or on the end day of the month you should be fine. Though if you are transferring it from another bank, you will have to allow a day or so to make sure the transfer is processed, even longer over the weekend.

  • Received my card yesterday, transferred today so next week I can do my transactions. Note that if you had an ANZ card before and used online banking your CRN remains the same…I didn't know I called them to get mine and I was told was the same as before and she gave it to me again.

    Anyone with the same issue? My partner and I got accounts, received and activated the cards yet when trying to use paywave we both get: Declined invalid transaction.

    I couldn't believe the crap I had to go through with this bank.
    My wife and I signed up, did the online ID checking and told all was good, transferred 2k into both accounts then when I tried to transfer it back it said the accounts were restricted.

    Called ANZ and they said I had to go into a branch to validate my ID, why on earth do they have an electronic online validation but you still need to go into a branch?
    Also, when we went to the branch the person checked our accounts and there were no cards going to be sent so we had to get them to order them.
    Can't believe how bad they are, finally got the cards and did 3 transactions on both.

    My question now is how long do I have to wait until I receive the voucher code?
    I called them and they couldn't tell me if it was going to be after the promotion was over or earlier.

    We also signed up to ING recently and had no problems getting the $75 cash back offer and joining them was painless.

      Exactly my problem see my comments above. A man at ANZ told me that ANZ wants to create the problems and ask us to visit their branches. Otherwise, the people working there will lose their jobs and the branch will be closed.

      • Yep same here. Online verification is pointless. Had to go to branch to verify my ID (I did nothing but sign some form). I was then finally able to transfer my 2k less the 3x visa debit card usages out of this pathetic bank and into BankSA!

    Woah better hold off until next month, "Monthly account service fee waiver applicable to ANZ Access Advantage accounts opened on or after 30 November 2013 if you deposit $2,000 or more by the last business day of the calendar month. You must satisfy the monthly deposit requirement to be eligible for the waiver in a particular month."

    Good thing I read the fine print, after I open the account, I doubt there would be enough time to transfer $2k into the account.

    Quick unrelated question:

    For other cards that give you a cash bonus for signing up (e.g. ING Debit, Mebank, HSBC, St George, NAB etc from time gone by) are you meant to declare the bonus as other income? I know the ING Savings Bonus from years ago was included in the pre-filling as bank interest.

    13/03/2017 Received Visa Debit card in the post
    17/03/2017 Made 3 x $0.01 debit card transactions at a Coles self-checkout (using split payment)
    30/03/2017 Received $100 voucher via email

      and havent got mine, so hopefully it will arrive tomorrow

    Finally followed up my missing gift card from the first time the promo ran and the issue was that the branch I visited to confirm my ID created a new account which did not qualify for the promo, instead of using the account that I opened through the promo link. 'As a valued customer we can put through a request to credit your account with $100.00.'

    • Day after valued customer gets $100…closed!
