eBay 10% off Sitewide (Min Spend $100, Max Discount $300, 3 Transactions, Excludes Postage)

7980
CRUSHONYOU

eBay is offering 10% off everything starting Tuesday 09.02.16.

Cashback Rate
Cashrewards 1.25%
PricePal 1.25%
ShopandMint 2% - 2.50%

I received a targeted offer from eBay for 10% off, but I didn't use and it was expired, so I called eBay to see, if they can re-generate a 10% code again. That's when eBay reps told me over the phone that eBay is actually having a 10% OFF SITEWIDE promotion from 09.02.2016 at 10:00AM till 12.02.2016

  • End date: Friday 12/02/16
  • 10% off site wide (excludes postage)
  • Minimum spend $100, maximum discount $300.
  • Limit 3 transactions per person during the Offer Period.
  • The following categories are excluded: Services (316), Cars, Bikes, Boats (9800), Tickets, Travel (11,730) and Gift Cards (172,009).

FAQ: I just checked my PayPal invoice and I have been charged the full amount!

Mod Note: PayPal may appear to show that you have paid the full amount - however if you click on the transaction details it will show that 10% has been paid via voucher. Example from previous deal

Hi, just wondering what's stopping people going on Ebay and going to the Myer store or similar, buying items for $3000 and returning them under there "change of mind" policy. Effectively getting a $300 credit for free?

    • Correct me if I'm wrong but they will only be refunded via Paypal - the portion that was paid by eBay - i.e. the $300 would go back to eBay and not to the purchaser .

    • Does not work like that. When you return something it would be refunded through the same purchase method. Ebay (PayPal) will not refund you the 10%.

    • From what I understand, you supply your invoice and paypal linked card and Myer or similar would refund the total of the invoice because the invoice doesn't have the paypal credit listed? The bonus is from Ebay directly?

    • Myer selling on ebay?

    • Lots of negs, but people have questioned similar things here many times.
I'd say they have it covered, nogo on free cash.

I think you owe the OP a slab.

  • so if i won something two days ago for example and have paid just last night by paypal can i cancel and re-pay so i can get this 10% off? its more than $150… :(

    • YES - Just ask seller to cancel original and refund.

      Then re-purchase again.

Seller doesn't lose anything, the discount coupon is contributed to them by Ebay/Paypal.

      • +1

No sellers gonna bother to do that…

Min spend kills it for me

The discount is 10%. So, it's hardly worth bothering if you are buying something worth $20 to gain $2.

Hint 1: You add 10 line items (each can be multiples of a single item) into Ebay Shopping Cart. Then process them all as one batch as a single transaction, apply Coupon Code and pay.

Hint 2: They must be in the same original currency (which you cannot see after you have added them to Ebay Cart)..

  • Do I have chance to use this code when I accept seller's counteroffer?

    • Do I have chance to use this code when I accept seller's counteroffer?

The code is applied at time of PAYMENT. So, yes.

      • But I think you must add it to your cart, not pay immediately, or something like that.

        • But I think you must add it to your cart, not pay immediately, or something like that.

No, you can use it for a Buy It Now, Auction, or whatever.

The idea of "Add To Cart" is that you can then apply the code to multiple separate purchases.

The Discount Code is typed in on the Ebay Checkout Payment screen. The more items you can stack onto one screen (up to 10) the more items you can get 10% discount for.

          Make sense?

        • @llama:
          Thanks, that'll help next time.
When I accepted a counter offer once a while ago, only choice was to Pay Now, it was just… pay. No code entry was offered. So I cancelled, and then added to cart.

  • Is it worth getting a new iphone through ebay or just pay extra at apple, big W or JB?

    • Is it worth getting a new iphone through ebay

If price is OK then yes.

Be very careful of where the stock is sourced. As a very very general rule, eBay iPhones from major sellers will tend to be be grey imports or refurbished overseas models. That means warranty is not via Apple, and you probably cannot get AppleCare, etc.

That said, I've bough heaps of "Brand New" iphones from private sellers over the years with mixed success. Any dodgy ones I just returned for a refund. For example I got a absolutely mint open boxed iPhone 5 for my GF about 15 months ago for $220 delivered, which was a steal.

I just this week purchased a refurbished iPhone 5C for my son via Ebay, and it seems a great deal.

  • do you still get 10% off if you win an auction? or is it for buy it now items only?

    • +1

Any items, but obviously you have to win and pay before the promo ends.

      • +1

Thanks. item ends at 9am tomorrow. currently $120 below the buy it now price of $436… hopefully it goes for a bit cheaper and im not just wasting my time.

bought a canon lense thanks. only 1.25 cashrewards lol

    • which one?

      • +1

got canon 60mm macro. nothing special in price just 10% off retail. aus stock with gst. otherwise grey imports would be cheaper by 30-40 but i can claim the gst back anyway.

      • Thank you! Looks great!

        • +1

The camera is absolutely marvelous for the price.

        • @cDNA:

+1 but not around $400 after discount.

  • +2

Wow ebay seem to be having these 10%+ sales every other week these days. They cant be doing well.

    • +2

eBay fees are like 13%. lol
      They ain't losing jack…

      • +1

9.9% for personal sellers, and quite a bit less than that for flagship stores. So they're definitely still making money.
Paypal is a separate business now.

        • Add +2.5% for forced PayPal acceptance, and compound that with 12.5% on shipping aswell, making it effectively higher like +15%.

      • Im not implying that its costing them anything… just a general comment how in the old days of a few yrs back these deals basically never happened… now they are all the time.

  • +12

Dell are truly scumbags. They removed the discounts off of every single one of their laptops and even had the nerve to include the ebay 10% sitewide banner on their ebay store page.

    Boycott dell!

  • Would this work if you asked the seller to send you an invoice, the item I want you have to ask for invoice so they can add the freight cost? Seller is very unhelfull says they are not included in the discount, its a specific chair the other half wants only!

    • +1

      Lol, what?

      • Ill put it another way, can you commit to buy, ask the seller to add the postage (its not specified in the listing) and send you an invoice and still add the discount code?

        • As long as you can go through the cart & checkout process (to add the code), it will work. But sorry, haven't personally tried it.

Also, you are relying on the seller to complete the invoice before the promo ends.

No other sellers with the chair?

        • @nismo:
thanks, the seller sent an invoice and was able to apply the code!

  • +30

Sweet!!!!! Saved $100. By not buying anything.

    • +14

      $90

    • +1

Sounds like the story my OzBargain friend told me.

He said that last week he saved $3 by jogging home from work, instead of catching the bus.

Then he told me that he saved $20 for exactly the same trip, by jogging home instead of catching a taxi.

      • +4

Sounds like he's going to also save heaps on health bills in the future too.

  • Can't use it for a trailer purchase cause that comes under the car/boat/bike category - so disappointed :-(

  • Can you use this deal for auction purchased? Thanks

    • Yes, you can as long as your purchase is more than $100.

    • The code is applied when you PAY, not when you buy.

It makes no difference how you buy, proving that you pay via Ebay Checkout, using Paypal, and enter the Code during the payment process.

      • Arggghh - a typo!

It makes no difference how you buy, PROVIDING that you pay via Ebay Checkout, using Paypal, and enter the Code during the payment process

  • -1

does anyone know if code will work with "make offer" purchases?

    • yep it will

    • The code is applied when you PAY, not when you buy.

It makes no difference how you buy, proving that you pay via Ebay Checkout, using Paypal, and enter the Code during the payment process.

      • i have never made an offer on ebay so i dont know if an accepted offer will send me pass the checkout/coupon page

i read on other ebay deals, some said it works, some said it dont

        • +3

When you make an Offer, the listing is actually a "Buy It Now". The ONLY difference is that when you make an Offer, the seller can choose to either accept or reject your offered price.

So, when you make an Offer, you are actually saying "I commit to Buy It Now if you agree to this price, but otherwise you can get stuffed".

If the seller rejects your offer, then there is no Buy It Now… no sale and no purchase.

If the seller accepts your offer, then it is an instant "Buy It Now" at the price that you offered. It is exactly (in all ways, shapes and forms) the same as if you clicked on "Buy It Now" (at full price)… except that the price is cheaper.

Therefore, if your offer is accepted, then your purchase sits in "Items Won" and also in Ebay Shopping Cart awaiting payment. You can checkout and pay for that one purchase, or you can add other purchases and then make one payment for whatever is in the Ebay Shopping Cart.

so i dont know if an accepted offer will send me pass the checkout/coupon page

The checkout/coupon page is made available when you PAY. Making an Offer, winning an Auction, or Buy It Now are all before that step… you still pay for all of them the same way (via Ebay Checkout).

i read on other ebay deals, some said it works, some said it don't

Whoever said it was guessing, and has no clue what they are talking about.

There are limits on when you can apply coupons (as-per ToS), for example some categories are excluded. Also, you cannot apply a single coupon to a checkout for multiple currencies - they must be processed separately. However, the kind of listing is irrelevant to payment and discount coupons because the coupon is applied at time of PAYMENT (not at time of purchase).

    • Yep, just tried and it worked.

  • anything recommend to buy?

    • I wish I am a mind reader so I can recommend something for you…

Any news yet on them fixing the US ordering problem?

Still having no luck getting the discount on anything from the USA.

    • Won't be fixed. They had same issue during past 3 sales. I know because I was trying to buy something from a US store.

  • When you claim what you buy in these promos on tax, are you able to claim the whole amount? Or only the balance?

    • -2

Any good accountant will first ask if you're willing to spend time in jail. If you answer 'Yes' or 'Maybe' then proceed to claim whole amount.

      • Er, no, thats not how it works.

You can still claim the full tax amount because you are paying the full amount. EBay is ‘shouting’ the 10% for you. Its internal. Proof: Go check your PayPal balance and it will show you paid the full amount. If you also get an invoice from an eBay store, it will have the full amount on it… Which is what was paid.

Please do a little research before you spread misleading nonsense around.
