Unlimited Bandwidth VPN £1/Year (AU ~$2.21) @ VPN.sh

9515

Description:

At VPN.sh, we've been looking into the possibility of providing unlimited bandwidth VPN's for some time now, and we're just about ready to finally announce that this is ready! We've worked hard to be able to provide this, and are now ready to launch.

This is a very limited offer as a celebration of us launching the unlimited bandwidth packages, where you can get your unlimited bandwidth VPN for just £1/year. We only have a very limited amount of stock for this, however all current clients will be able to get access to 50% off for their first year once we officially launch the packages in a couple of days (standard pricing will be £30/year), so if you miss out on this offer, you can still get a great discount - just drop us an email at [email protected] if you miss out!

As with all of our VPN packages, you'll get access to all of our 24 worldwide locations (more coming soon!).

NOTE: This VPN service does not allow torrents and warez

Is this £1/Year price perpetual, or only for the first year and then reverts to standard pricing?

    • +1

It says "Recurring Amount: £1.00GBP" so I'm assuming it's perpetual.

    • Think it's perptual. When I checkout'ed, it says 1 pound annually.

      • I think it's only for the first year. Normally if its a recurring thing, they show it as a repeat payment when you go through paypal and make your agree to those terms etc, which wasn't the case for this.

        • Can't speak for this specific plan/deal, but regarding the one I'm currently on it's not like an auto-debit set-up - they sent an invoice e-mail about a month or so before the deal expired and from memory it was just a matter of following the relevant link to make another payment to re-up.

        • well on my paypal it's set to come out every 12 months and in the amail from them not paypal it's saying it's a recurring payment annually.

    • +7

Hi there, representative from VPN.sh here.

This is a recurring amount, so you'll be locked in at this price point for as long as you wish to renew. If you haven't setup a PayPal subscription for the product, then you'll just receive your invoice in 12 months time for £1/year again. If you decide to renew, there will be no further costs than the £1/year, and of course you can decide to simply cancel if you wish as well.

      Hope that clarifies!

      • -3

Already had a service with you for around 18 months and have been more than happy. Signed up for this service as well. Kinda glad you don't allow torrenting so that the network is at full speed for all :) Thanks Liam.

      • -2

Are you able to help Resolve an Overcharge (which we discussed, in a former Deal offer from VPN.sh), please?

Also - I haven't been able to get the level of support I need to get this working on an iPad (the device I needed a VPN for) - I want a FULL REFUND.

        Total: UKP 4.

I'd like to resolve this - once & for all - ASAP.

(Send me a Private, so I can reply Private, if you need info to work on this.)

        TIA

  • +2

ive been looking at getting a vpn for awhile but all the different companies and their policies confused me a bit. my main concern is I may wish to use pirate bay sometime and some don't allow this. can anyone recommend to me how to go about this

    • Same question

    • -1

Since they don't keep logs that can tell if your on piratebay, I think it should be fine. Most companies usual just say a few things like that for legality reasons…

      • according to some past posts some do keep logs though and do kick you off

      • Can you point out where they say they don't keep logs? The closest the privacy policy seems to come to saying anything about logging is this:

        "Information Automatically Logged
We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our Web site. We use this information for no other reason."

I guess that could imply that they don't keep any other traffic logs, but it isn't what I would call explicit compared to NordVPN:
"NordVPN keeps you 100% anonymous online, and we never log the activities of our users."
        Proxy.sh:
"We do not keep any logs internally. The only thing we log here is your e-mail address and your purchase details (your invoices linked to your e-mail and your product details). We do no log your activity on our proxy (neither the authentification nor the traffic). We don't even know whether you use our proxy or not"
        PIA:
        "No traffic logs"
        Cyberghost:
"Log data: CyberGhost keeps no logs which enable interference with your IP address, the moment or content of your data traffic. We make express reference to the fact that we do not record in logs communication contents or data regarding the accessed websites or the IP addresses."

        • +1

          From a post from rep:

Hey :). We log connection/disconnection time, as well as total amount of bandwidth used (so that we can keep on top of users bandwidth limits).

We do not log the data which you access whilst connected to our VPN service.

          Hope that helps!

        • +8

"We do not keep any logs internally."

So they straight away forward it to the authorities?

        • +1

@dosada: Everyone keeps logs of some sort.

        • +7

@dosada: We haven't ever forwarded any logs to any authorities. Nothing is kept, and we've had no requests for any data by and government authority at any point in time. If all of a sudden a bunch servers are being replaced and new IP's are being assigned, then it's safe to assume that we've received a request, dropped the server as a precaution, and started a fresh.

We have had IP changes in the past that are purely coincidental (example: us going to a different data centre for a specific location), but if a bunch happen simultaneously, then that's when I'd advise to tread carefully and watch what you're accessing.

I like to keep things as open as possible, and I'm happy to answer any specific questions that you guys may have that you want to keep private. You can email me on [email protected] - I'll try to answer as quickly as possible, but it may take some time as this offer is getting some traction!

          Thanks,
          Liam

        • @triviums:

"Hey :). We log connection/disconnection time, as well as total amount of bandwidth used (so that we can keep on top of users bandwidth limits)."

As the current offer is an unlimited one, will the above still need to be logged?

Also, any feedback from p2p/torrent performance/restrictions?

        • What is NordVPN like? Worth buying?

        • I tried torrenting with no luck. Cant leech nor seed. Upon checking http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ most of ports are blocked.
          I'm using Australia2 server.
I tried these on utorrent client software:
          Enable UPnP port mapping
          Enable NAT-PMP port mapping
          Add Windows Firewall exception

          still no luck.
Anyone can confirm that VPN.sh is working via torrent?

        • +1

          @fickre:

I used tTorrent on my tablet and uTorrent on laptop, took a bit longer to start but eventually got going. Peaked at 2MB/s on LA server, highest I've ever seen without VPN is 2.6 so pretty good.

      • +4

It's impossible to not keep logs for a VPN service, there will always be minimal logging. You can't have a VPN service and not keep logs, they need to prevent DDOS attacks, those who try to hack into the system, and handle DNS requests. On top of this if they limit customers to say 1 or 2 connections at a time, without logs, how would they know this? Otherwise you could give out your connection details to all your friends.

      • +1

hold up. thats completely wrong and very misleading.

VPN's don't block websites, they block p2p file transfer. this means you can access piratebay and download the torrent but it wont work once opened up in a client.

  • It's $2.21 per year for us using Aussie currency. Still cheap.

    • +6

Thanks, updated title. Wow! the dollars really gone down…

  • +8

Maybe it's just me, but when the checkout process for a VPN service asks for my name, address, and only allows PayPal I figure it is time to keep looking.
(Note: I presently have accounts with PIA, which is good, and VPN Unlimited, which is terrible. I have previously had accounts with CyberGhost which was pretty mediocre)

  • +3

PIA user here too looking to save $ , but VPN.sh want way too much info to create an account.

    • Do you use a seed box as well? If so which one?

  • +5

Had a quick look through their terms / conditions / privacy policy. If you're wanting a VPN for privacy, I'm not sure this is the VPN for you. It seems they're more than happy to log customer usage and hand it over whenever requests are made…
    :-/

  • +3

£1 for a year of unlimited VPN sounds great. why hasn't this deal received more + votes? .

$2.21 for a year of unlimited VPN. sold. i note the % read out on the site when I first checked said 18% sold out (30 mins ago) and now 27%

    • Welcome to OzBargain :(

    • +2

It's late? Also, it's a pretty technical thing for most people although apparently SD Cards are what everyone craves on OZB these days judging from the front page… I wish you could hide certain tags!

    • +4

I bought this from a previous OzB deal offer.

I was OVERCHARGED (due to the way the deal was written:

      1. I bought in at a bandwidth-limited level
      2. I later "UPGRADED" to the Unlimited ver.
      3. VPN.SH charged me the SUM of the 2 plan costs,
. rather than the higher of their 2 prices, ie
. as their Rep later told us to eexpect the "up-
. grade" to cost folks who did what I did.

I NEVER managed to get them to Refund the Overcharge.

Finally, I never got VPN.sh's service to work, &
      Support was useless.

Other VPN pr9viders have much easier to access services,
Eg ußing ampn app or (for iOS) auto-setup.

We are NOT happy with the support received from VPN.sh

        • A deal's a deal, at any price.

    • +4

There's been dodgy Vpn providers in the past so people are right to be cautious.

      • +2

Dealing with Liam and these deals are as dodgy as they get.

Just do a search on VPN.sh and Fixedroute to find out all about this scammer.

When something seems too good to be true, usually is!!! You get what you pay for in the end.

Avoid Liam and his deals like the plague.

    • +2

because it is no better than a fortune of free alternatives out there.
with no p2p/torrent access - there are far more reliable FREE alternatives.

  • Well this is convenient.. I almost paid $30 for a VPN today but decided to hold off. Thanks OP.

  • ordered its 2 dollars im not complaining if it's not good

    • +8

In which case they get $2 and you get nothing of value - not exactly a bargain. If they can get enough people to sign up and shrug off poor service, then it's called a business model.
(Note: I haven't experienced their service at all, although others are making pretty negative statements here about it. My comment is more about how spending $2 to get something broken or useless isn't a bargain.)

      Edit: typo

      • +1

I don't know why the mods here don't ban this guy.

He has done a big disservice and ripped off Ozbargainers before, but yet still is allowed to come here and pedal his deals.

  • A question regarding setup, I don't think I'm missing anything but I can't see it.

    http://vpn.sh/howto-windowsopenvpn.html

Step 4: "click import, find the file for your desired location in the extracted folder" << There is no mention of a folder to be extracted anywhere. What am I missing? Where is this file?

    • +1
      • Yes, steff is right. You can extract the folder to any location. I first extracted it to my desktop but then moved it to the folder where Open VPN is installed for the sake of order. I am using it right now. I checked online and it works fine.
You should have received an email from them (called VPN activation). If you follow the instructions in that email it works fine.

  • +2

anyone have any idea on how this will perform with netflix. accessing USA contents?

    • not sure but I just use a DNS service for that (Getflix)

    • I tried it using VPN.SH Easter offer, it is okay;

Although I noticed the movie quality is not full HD (I purchased full HD for AUS netflix); not sure why

  • Just ordered for the sake of netflix.
    $2 a year ! Tops :)

    • +2

Good luck even just getting the netflix website to load with this. I wouldn't waste my time.

  • OK, signed up but no idea how to load VPN details into my iPad. Other services use an app which is easy and convenient, not so these guys, suspect it is all manual which doesn't go well for a techno-clutz like me. Any advice would be very appreciated.

    • they'll send you an email with all the details (apparently)

    • ipad setup details are here: https://www.vpn.sh/howto-ipadl2tp.html

You just need to wait for them to send the setup details through.

      • -8

We didn't find it at all easy or possible to get it to run on iOS.

        • -8

Why it's not IMMEDIATE response, just our payments are, I cannot fathom. These guys really need to look at what their competitors are doing… And lift their game, IMO.

        • -8

@IVI: All we get from these guys are unwanted invitations to buy the service we have already laid (too much) for.

No Refund of Overpayment; no support or insufficient
Support to get it to work on iOS, etc.

        • +6

@IVI: >All we get from these guys are unwanted invitations to buy the service we have already laid

          you wot m8? :P

  • Nope for privacy related use, but fine for netflix bypassing and accessing other services. Might take a speed hit though (vs DNS) but hey, it's ~$2 :-)

Might also be a good backup service.

  • -1

Was thinking of going with PIA. Then saw this. Just signed up.
Now waiting for their email on how to set up.
I want to use it for my raspberry pi

  • +1

    Just signed up…
It says right at the start of the terms and conditions that the VPN is only to be used legally by US and UK law…. nothing about Australian law… but still… I'm trying it out so i can use Google when I'm in China… not that I'm going there anytime soon, but it would've been handy.
had to resort to Bing.. ugh

    • VPN terminating out of China will be blocked by years end.

  • What kind of speeds can you actually expect from their Aus server? I have 100 down

    • -1

      100 what?

      • Megabits….

        • Ah sweet. Cable or NBN?

        • @EightImmortals: 100/2 Cable with Optus, apart from Saturday night when everyone uses Netflix, then it goes down to about 4mbps, haha!

  • p2p support?

  • +1

Note: The URL attach in the deal is not https secured. Can it be a security threat?

    • Payment/Personal info page is encrypted.

  • For just over 2 bucks this is good for bypassing our data retention hoover. 😉

    • in a way, it is more likely to put users on the raydar.

      • Radar*

        • +1

          that word raises flaggs :D

        • -1

@Son ofa Zombie: really negging me for correcting your mistake is unfair and rude.

        • +3

@holden93: it really wasn't me. your unfounded accusation is kind of the same. I save my negs for more important things. haha, 5 isn't enough per day! regardless, wasn't me.

        • Radar*

RADAR - it is a military acronym :-)

It might bring your attention to the spooks, but that will not bother most people.
It will stop your web-browsing being logged and easily accessible to thousands of police etc.
Don't forget to encrypt your local hard-drive too.

      • -2

        Rahdahr*

        • Connected to the Australian server 1 via openvpn on Asus router with Merlin firmware. So far web browsing of Aussie sites good.

Lets see how long it lasts though.

Edit: Steam game updates are coming down @ 1.4Mb/s. 😀
Edit2: Turned off steam updates as it will comsume unnecessary data which Liam would have to pay for and me getting kicked off.

  • +30

Had problems connecting to their vpn service with their other £1 offer they had last year. They never responded to the ticket submitted.

    • +2

Might chip in here and say that I was on their offer as well - they just took a really long time to respond, but they eventually did. Problem was fixed pretty damn quickly too.

Was kinda problematic but maybe with enough patience (or just hammering them with emails) they do respond.

    • +2

Have to agree here. Their support is really slow, one ticket I even had open for over a month before it even got a response. Their last deal (1 Euro for 1000gb/year) took 2 weeks for them to upgrade me. Not good enough.

  • Still waiting for the email with my IP adress. Meanwhile found this:
    http://www.vpn.sh/clients/knowledgebase.php?action=displayar…

  • +3

They keep sending me invoice from previous deal ;/

  • +10

Had horrible customer service with them

    • +4

I had no customer service response from them at all. Got the service working off and on for about a week and then it stopped. No response from vpn.sh. I submitted a paypal claim and they didn't respond to that either. Using nordvpn now.

  • Haven't seen my email yet. Paid about 2 hrs ago and want to test it before going to bed. :(

  • Thanks! Snapped one up!

    :-)

  • Still no sign of the email with the required IP address/OpenVPN profile to use the service. Registered and paid 3 hours ago. :/

    • im giving them 24 hours before i email them they have 20 hours left.

  • +6

No way I'm parting with $2.2172345 of hard earned money. Way to risky IMO.

  • How about torrent use?

  • (profanity) it. For the price, I'll bite.

  • Not sure why they need your name, address and phone number to create an account.

    • Because you're buying a service from them and they probably want to know who they are dealing with.
They'll also get your information from the PayPal transaction.

      • +1

Other Vpn providers let you pay with Bitcoin and don't ask for your personal details.

        • The only payment option I saw for VPN.sh's offer was PayPal.

        • +1

@Thrift: I think Slo's point is that many other VPN providers are willing and able to create accounts and take payments without asking for personal details. The fact that they can get that information from Paypal doesn't address that point. It simply raises the additional question of why they don't offer other payment types that don't involve your details being handed to them.

    • +1

And you gave them real ones?

      • I also find it odd for VPN provider ask for contact detail on signing up… Anyway doesn't matter if you give them real detail or not at the bottom of sign up page it say "This order form is provided in a secure environment and to help protect against fraud your current IP address (xxx.xxx.xx.xxx) is being logged." - So they log you on sign up?
