Unlimited Bandwidth VPN £1/Year (AU ~$2.21) @ VPN.sh

9515

Description:

At VPN.sh, we've been looking into the possibility of providing unlimited bandwidth VPN's for some time now, and we're just about ready to finally announce that this is ready! We've worked hard to be able to provide this, and are now ready to launch.

This is a very limited offer as a celebration of us launching the unlimited bandwidth packages, where you can get your unlimited bandwidth VPN for just £1/year. We only have a very limited amount of stock for this, however all current clients will be able to get access to 50% off for their first year once we officially launch the packages in a couple of days (standard pricing will be £30/year), so if you miss out on this offer, you can still get a great discount - just drop us an email at [email protected] if you miss out!

As with all of our VPN packages, you'll get access to all of our 24 worldwide locations (more coming soon!).

NOTE: This VPN service does not allow torrents and warez

        • I was using tunnel bear when I signed up for my VPN (not Sh) , so I guess if it was logged it would have shown somewhere in the US

  • Ordered and paid at 6am. Hopefully getting email soon. Thanks OP.

    • I'm now connected. Send ok so far. I'm now on San Jose. :)

      • And then got disconnected suddenly without warning. Manually reconnected. Strange.

  • I just received my Activation email :) time to test the speeds.

    • So how are they?

      • +3

speeds are fine but Torrents dont download at all even legit legal torrents.

        • OK cheers. So seedbox then?

        • Fairly sure their T&C's state they don't allow for P2P of any kind.

I recall this coming up in another recent offer that they put up.

  • Ordered and paid, but service is still at "Pending" status.. support ticket submitted. Cheers OP.

  • +7

Bought their service from a previous deal and I could manage to install the client, however it never worked. OpenVPN shows connected but if you do an anonymous ip check, it showed your ip and location without amiss!

Customer service never really bothered to respond to my queries.

Don't spend on this, however small the amount is. Not worth the hassle in troubleshooting and chasing down one of their reps.

    • what client? i didn't see any such client i just used the windows 10 builtin feature where you setup the vpn right now i am connected to japan.

    • OpenVPN needs to run with the right privileges in order to update your routing information on your PC to use the tunnel.

      Running as admin usually works.

  • +1

$2.22.. sold. Even if it's slower than some of the premium VPNs, I need a VPN for when I visit China annually plus for a bit of privacy when the mood strikes. So this is definitely good value for me.

    • Then you are in for a disappointment.

It's a bit like a wife. Her mood never strikes when yours does.

  • totally unrelated, which one is the cheapest for me to just duck back into the China Firewall? totally legit question!

  • +2

As others said, terrible customer service. I reported via a ticket that I was unable to connect to any servers, over 2 weeks later they reply saying they're in the process of fixing the problem. Ended up being about 3 weeks I was unable to use the service.

  • +12

Used to be their customer. Most of the time their servers were not responding or accepting new connections.

  • Bugger, just paid 22 pound for cyberghost 5 but confirmation emails came instantaneously and it was up and running at fast speeds instantaneously so looking at comment re this mob here I guess I had a result.

  • jump on the same boat. think later for $2 per year.

  • Ordered, don't have a VPN at this stage. Usage has altered somewhat since Dallas Buyers Club too.
For $2 i'll give it a whirl but for some reason I feel much more secure about the PIA setup.
Not from a technical perspective, perhaps because it costs more and has a better website.
    Is that Ozbargain blasphemy?

  • Is it possible to use this with Chromecast? Can't seem to find a way.

  • +6

I scored one of the "free" Easter deals which worked well for a few days then stopped saying my plan was now expired despite being a 12 month one. I have support tickets open since April with no replies.

This VPN is cheap for a reason.

    • +1

Same here, opened a ticket 4 times since April and no reply.

Anyone who wants to deal with this type of service, go ahead.

I'd rather stick with the good VPN providers even if it costs more.

  • +1

How many concurrent connections will this allow?

All the neg's on this offer seem to either be related to slow customer service from a previous deal or issues with configuring the client…

  • +14

This guy seems to come back over and over again to drum up new business then when problems occur leaves us till the next deal arrives.

Look at the previous deals to see that lots of people have had problems using this service.

I bought a cheap service, never worked. Customer service never responded. My ticket is still open which is say must be over a year.

    Just throwing money away IMO.

  • +11

While this deal is cheap, the customer support and server connection problems with this company are notorious. I was a customer in the past but would not go near them again.

  • Well, I am giving it a go!

  • +5

What's the story with torrents OP? can see you have stopped users from using them before.
You've said its comparable to the ones available for $30 a year so you would have to assume that it allows torrenting otherwise thats very misleading

    • would also like to know

  • 2nd page of comments and no one has commented on the speed of the service itself?

    • U sure about that. I saw a comment on the previous page.

  • A Hong Kong or China server would be great. Nevertheless, bought 1. Thanks OP.

  • +3

It appears a few have had connection issues with this group. An inconsistent VPN is pointless. So have any existing customers found it flawless?

  • +11

E-mail from VPN.sh regarding torrent use. What a joke You'd think the guy was running a charity the way he expects people to restrict their use.

"We don't encourage it, as obviously we're more likely to have legal issues when encouraging torrents as opposed to discouraging. We don't want to have a few "power torrenters" making the browsing experience and downloads speeds worse for everybody else.

We do take some basic preventative measures to avoid torrents, however it's not impossible (from a technical standpoint) to torrent on our service.

Please do bear in mind that we're a small operation, and can do nice offers such as this as a result of our clients being mindful of what they access with us.

I try to be as reasonable as possible, but simply cannot encourage torrents as otherwise I could effectively be assisting torrenters to lower the overall experience for everyone else.

Make of this what you will, but if you feel like you'd likely torrent frequently, then we're probably not the right service for you.

Thanks for taking the time to ask, much appreciated.

    Kind regards,
    Liam"

    • +2

well i can say first hand that torrents does not work with this vpn.

I tried downloading something using the vpn and nothing will not even start to download. the second i disconnected vpn it starts to download.

      • configuration all good?
I think I'm gonna hold off on this. But the price damn too tempting. hmmmmm

        Gonna hold off.

        • +1

Pretty straight forward, im not noob at computers i built mine. i tried pptp and openvpn they worked fine for web browsing and i got over 5mmbps on speed test but high ping which is as expected. but torrents just wouldn't download.
i tried a few torrents that i knew had tons of seeders and ever one from a legit site guaranteed to work which still wouldn't.

I also have Getflix vpn setup the same way using pptp and it downloads fine.

        • @holden93: Be careful with Getflix VPN, it leaks. Do a leak test and you will see it isn't 100% secure. Check Whirlpool.

        • @ilikeit: I know thats why i took up this vpn to find out they block torrents despite no mention in TOS.
I only have getflix dns for netflix.

        • @holden93: Yep I cancelled my vpn.sh sub. Couldn't even use it for its intended purpose.

    • +4

Lol it seems you get what you pay for

    • +4

Can we have this as a sticky on the top of the thread? some how? :S

      • -3

Out of interest, maybe my below response would be a more suitable sticky at the top? If required, I can provide a small FAQ type section if moderators believe this would be of assistance to readers here?

Personally, I believe the message which we're replying to here (which quotes the email I sent earlier), presents a viewpoint of "I can't torrent, even though it's in the TOS and I've been informed by a representative of the company, but it's still a joke". That would be like going to a McDonald's that doesn't claim to have gluten free buns, states in their nutritional information that their buns aren't gluten free, asking a member of staff if the buns contain gluten, and kindly being told that the buns do in fact contain gluten, and then still moaning because they aren't running their business the way that you want them to.

Just my 2 cents (attempting to be as unbiased as I can here, of course!).

    • +2

So this email has just been sent out. It's mentioned in our TOS that torrents and warez aren't advised. As mentioned in my email, if you want to torrent frequently, then feel free to check out the other VPN providers - there's plenty around, and plenty that don't mind torrents all that much.

If you don't like that our stance on torrents, that's totally fine, simply don't purchase the offer. We don't try and hide what we allow or don't - our terms of service can be referred to by any of our clients, and generally speaking we take a fairly relaxed stance with them (as with most companies - our TOS is there for us to refer to when absolutely necessary).

I'm not quite sure what you think is a joke about the way that we run our business. I have thanked you for taking the time to ask (better to ask first, and receive what I believe to be a reasonable response, then to just go ahead and break the TOS), as can be seen in my email, and I don't feel that you're really understanding where we're coming from.

For all others reading this, I'll make no further comment here regarding torrents other than this: We do place some technical roadblocks in order to attempt to prevent torrenting usage, as it's illegal in the majority of countries in which our servers are located. We're a business, and rightly so, we try not to break the law, and try to prevent our clients from breaking the law. Ultimately, it's us who will face the legal bills when you download a bunch of things which you shouldn't have - and we don't hide that we put such measures in place (otherwise I wouldn't be openly disclosing it here). If you feel that this is something that you're not happy with from your VPN provider, then that's fine, and I'm sure there are plenty of other VPN providers who can suit your needs (I'm unsure on torrenting policies, but both PIA and Astrill provide fantastic performance - Astrill especially so for those in Australia and Asia).

I hope this clarifies for anybody who was wanting some insight into our policies regarding torrenting. We're not unreasonable, we simply have to do what we can to prevent ourselves getting into any legal issues.

      Thanks,
      Liam

      • +12

Sorry pal, your terms of service are nowhere to be seen on the landing page you have sent through.
As well as this, not once have you mentioned that torrents or p2p cant be used. There is nothing illegal about downloading a torrent so long as it isnt pirated material and therefore it would be very fair to assume that torrents can be downloaded, as long as they are from sites that dont encourage illegal activity.
It is incredibly shady practice to do what you're doing. You have told people that it is comparable to a product that typically costs $30. Any product that costs $30 and doesnt include torrent use is an absolute rip off. You would know this by the amount of emails you get asking you why torrents aren't working.

        • +3

The link to the terms of service is visible before you place the order. You have to check the box stating that you've read and agreed to the linked terms of service - it's in full view. Granted, it isn't linked to on the offer page. I'll pop that on there.

I haven't really had much time to post in here as of today, so no, I haven't declared that in here until now.

Indeed, legal torrenting is also something that people can do. Unfortunately, we cannot determine whether or not a torrent that somebody is downloading is legal or illegal, and so it's safer at our end to simply place the roadblock before any torrenting takes place. I'm sorry if you don't like that, but it's very easy to just disconnect from our service, download your torrent, and then connect again afterwards (or of course, use another VPN provider for the intermittent torrent downloading).

I don't believe I've made any direct comparison of our product to anything else, or mentioned that we compare to any products of any specific prices (if I have mistakenly done this, please let me know where so that I can review my post).

Obviously we sit on different sides of the fence here. You want us to allow torrenting. We're not going to be encouraging it. I'm sorry if you don't like that - but let's not let it ruin our day! I'll leave this here now, as there's not really anything else we can say to one another to make anything better of the situation.

I hope you have a nice day - it's 1am here (I'm in the UK), so I'm going to hop into bed. Thanks for taking the time to take a look at our offer, and I'm sorry that we don't seem to be the provider for you!

          Thanks,
          Liam

        • +2

          @LiamWithers:Cancellation request sent through.

next time state that torrents are block cause your TOS does NOT state this.

        • +5

          @LiamWithers:

          aren't advised != blocked….

        • +4

@LiamWithers: I read the ToS prior to signing up and it doesnt mention "torrent" or "P2P" anywhere. can you point me to the part where it says that it's not supported?

      • +6

could you add to the description that "this VPN service does not allow torrents and warez"

        thanks

      • +8

        Yep,

Any sticky in the OP details saying - Does not support Torrents or P2P would be great. People wouldn't have to scroll through the threads to find this…

        • Post Updated

      • +2

Thanks for your honesty rep. I'll hold off on purchasing your product. All the best.

  • Damn, just spent $70+ for 2 years of PureVPN last night. Happy with the outcome though and given the few bad reports of VPN.sh here it sounds like you probably get what you pay for.

  • How does this company make money?

  • +7

The VPN service does not work as advertised, their customer service is a shambles (if they ever respond at all) and no prior communications for failure of service or a refund were ever responded too last time these scam artists listed a deal here. Avoid these guys like the plague.

  • +2

    bought one.

Paypal would cover you wouldnt it?

    • Sorry negged you by accident, but PayPal doesn't cover intangible items.

      • d@mn…. it…

  • +5

Imagine you have unlimited access to something useless!

  • +4

Thanks for the reviews. Saved me my sanity as it looks like quite a few people have been duped by this vpn before and frustrated with it's service or lack of.

  • A bit of an anti-climax here. Excitedly, I signed up and paid for this deal, followed the instructions and it says I am still logging in with incorrect credentials over an hour later, but the welcome email says my username is my email and the password is as I entered when signing up.

    • +1

The password isn't the same as the one you used to signup with. You should have an email from us with the subject title "VPN Activation". That email contains instructions on how to access your login credentials (the details are in our billing panel).

      Thanks,
      Liam

    • +1

Login to the client area and select my products and services. Then there's a little note with a green arrow, click it and scroll to the bottom, there you will find your VPN password that looks like "o5i6sdnf32" You can change it there.

  • +4

Rep, could you add to the product description at the very top that "this VPN service does not allow torrents and warez"

    thanks

    • I didn't post the offer, however maybe the OP could add this? If a moderator sees this message, I'm sure it's possible for them to add also. Of course, we don't want any confusion, and I'd be happy to do some sort of FAQ to put up there too if it'd help!

  • I've set it up but when I try and log in I just get a progress message that says its logging in then switches to connecting for a split second then back to logging in.
    What am I doing wrong?

    • I'm assuming this is using the OpenVPN client? Their software can be a little buggy at times. Please drop me a PM here and I'll talk the setup through with you. It may take me a while to respond if I don't receive a message straight away, as it's bedtime here!

      • PM sent.

        • Brill, responded.

        • @LiamWithers:
          Still no luck.
Has anyone downloaded the newest OpenVPN client?
I did but it's not as simple as the link above.

        • @dan76n: read all the neg comments in here. This is a shit service. Avoid

  • +1

Anyone using it to access US netflix would you please comment on how well it works?

    • +1

This is basically all I use the service for and it works fine for me. That being said, judging by some of the ornery comments in here it may be a YMMV-type situation.

      • Cheers for reply! So do you have issues with lag on HD? I find Netflix pretty good for lagless viewing, even on my crappy home adsl. This vpn may slow it even more, though.

        • +1

The VPN will defintely make your connection slower. But while it's not lightning quick, it's not molasses slow either. (For me at least.)

My experience has been that while the site is slower in general and when initially loading a show or film, once whatever I'm viewing starts I haven't had issues with lag.

  • +7

Just in case anyone likes to read before they sign up.

    http://vpn.sh/dmca.html

    Adult-Oriented Content:
VPN.SH does not allow adult content and will suspend/terminate any offending account.

    Audio/Video Streaming:
Audio/Video Streaming is not hosting friendly. As such, VPN.SH asks users to be mindful of other users wanting to access content. Offending accounts will be notified if issues arise.

    • +1

so where does it say torrents/p2p are blocked?
i read both dmca and TOS and no where did it state they are blocked.

    • +1

So, Audio/Video streaming refers to services like netflix, or if I want to stream audio/video to someone else

    • +2

But if they don't keep logs, how do they know its me watching porn?

  • +7

This guys is responsible for another past OzB deal here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/187592

I had to file PayPal dispute after the service still wasn't commissioned 2 months after promised. Not sure if the service was eventually provided or not, but I would avoid even for 50c….

  • +1

Hi Rep I have emailed you and created a ticket but not heard back, my confirmation email has no account name in it, is it just my email, please respond here or through my ticket?? Ticket ID: 418523

    • +1

The Rep said a few posts above "It may take me a while to respond if I don't receive a message straight away, as it's bedtime here!". It doesn't look like they give 24hr service.

  • +4

Signed up and tested. Speed seems to be decent, but connecting to USA 5 server and checking my location using https://www.iplocation.net/ still shows me in Australia in the right State. @LiamWithers care to comment?

  • I registered with a +vpn for my Email address, apparently it is an illegal character! Oops… I submitted a ticket to change my email/user name. Let's see how long it takes to get it resolved.

    • +1

also did similar - can't authenticate and submitted a ticket :3

    • Liam fixed it up for me. All good!

  • +2

for those that want to know about speeds..
    Happy to compare other counrties.

    No VPN: 12.76Mbps

    Germany Server
    VPN.SH: 8.35Mbps
    PIA: 2.03Mbps

    Australia Server
VPN.SH: 6.67Mbps (thought this was low, so ran a second test… to 22Mbps [faster then my sync speed???])
    PIA: 6.57Mbps

  • useful for the traveller

  • +1

I've never seen so many neg votes

  • +1

Bought the 1000GB/year from the last deal. Configured and connected successfully using OpenVPN Client. But can't get uTorrent to download anything. Performing a network check passes and gives me a green tick in the diagnostics window. But the yellow triangle on the bottom right corner of main window never goes away and no dl/seeding happens.

If someone has set it up successfully, would appreciate the help through PM.

EDIT: Just saw the mention of P2P not being supported. But ToS (http://vpn.sh/tos.html) does not mention this!!

  • done !!
paypal conversion rate was shit though, I forgot to change it in Paypal checkout

  • +1

Like many experienced the customer service is a problem. Takes along time to reply and it became irrelevant when they finally replied. Fair enough to say this service not for p2p.

I didn't purchase this $1 VPN service for torrenting or p2p and it was limited download anyway. But i got it for occasional use for emails and browsing the web when i am outside using free wifi (eg. mall, restaurants, hotel etc) thinking it will be safer and won't be tracked. Many free wifi offered now track you to offer targeted ads etc.

Still i didn't get good experience with my usage. Servers keep changing hard to keep up and very slow at times.

I hope they can improve the customer service and their vpn service.

  • So…to buy or not to buy?

    • +1

Well I'm not because torrenting/p2p is disabled, that and the various comments on customer service and that they don't seem to offer complete anonymous web usage(which is my #1 concern regarding VPN use)….

I am currently trialing Hide My IP VPN service to see if it's any good(still got a couple or so, maybe less months of trial time left)….

    • +1

It depends what you want to use it for and whether willing to take risk of about $2. If you want to use it for p2p or going to use it a lot you can forget this deal. Like some said $2 not going to get much. Go for premium service like PureVPN. I have good experience with them.

For me, if the service is not improving I will not renew it. For $2 I was willing to give it a try.

  • So its pretty obvious that this VPN is pretty ordinary and unusable for some of us but it is only $2 so really, what did you expect.
You get what you pay for so pay some more and get one that's good.

    • Can't agree more.

    • +2

And thats exactly how they make their money.

      It's only $2.00!!!

WHy else would they give you such a deal where you couldn't find another deal like this from another VPN provider anywhere, not even close to it?
