Was looking for VPN, honestly loved Proton VPN last time i had it, faster than other VPN providers, easy to use, their extension on browsers are way better than other VPN providers, their phone apps, loved it. And their from Switzerland, your data definitely not being tracked.

Ended up with the 12 month plan as it seemed reasonable for now :).

It's currently set to EUR pricing, but you can switch to USD, its slightly cheaper on the exchange rate according to google.

This and Mullvad, both great options. I'm a proton fan (use mail), but stick with Mullvad for VPN. Can pay with Bitcoin and don't have to provide any personal information to have an account.

You can buy Mullvad giftcards from Amazon. If you shred the card after you use the code then it can't be traced back to your account. You don't have a receipt either but I don't think most people would mind that.

used to use mullvad, but not worried about the bitcoin aspect
dropped mullvad due to no port forwarding.
find both good quality in terms of speed/servers

  • Possibly in response to current Proton (Andy Yen) drama?

    • What drama :D lol, I was looking for old code, and I saw a 2024 old post on some forum and when I clicked it expecting it to be a broken link to an old sale it worked :D!

      • Probably the fact their CEO is a Trump fan is my guess.

          who cares lol

      • CEO Dude came out fawning over Trump. Theuroe Swiss based, so not sire wtf that was about

I was just scrolling two posts about the drama, and yeah, not a good look for Proton and Andy Yen.
If Mullvad decided to offer yearly subs at a discount, I’d use it without waiting for any further deals, but as is, I’m just not paying for VPNs unless they allow me to profit.

      • Mullvad never offers discounts.

        • If Mullvad can keep their overhead under control, then they can just coast by without needing to increase their revenue.
Or perhaps it's a rare type of business that is more pro-social than pro-capital (i.e. focused on doing good instead of boosting revenue recklessly like 90% of worldwide businesses).

          • @FujinShu: "Do you ever have any sales?

Nope. Not for Christmas or any other holiday or event that you can think of. But you can always celebrate your privacy with us for the same monthly rate 365 days a year (except on leap years of course)!"

$5/month 12 months a year. I would say more pro-user as everyone pays the same amount, pro-social fits.

      • Not a good look indeed. What was he thinking posting it from the official Proton account. Should be politically agnostic as a business and it was another countries to.

Let’s see how the dust settles. Still a happy Proton user here.

  • great VPN,
bought 2 years for US$59 @ Black Friday

your data definitely not being tracked.

That's what they said about those an0n phones.

  • I swear I saw a lifetime plan advertised here once. It would be cool to get the whole suite on a discount as it looks like a pretty promising product/ products

  • I saw Proton VPN free reviewed on APC magazine several months back. Can someone who have used the free version comment on how good/bad it is ?

    • never knew there was a free
