Same, ordered that screwdriver at 10 and arrived at 1. Now that's efficient…perhaps Dick could learn a thing or two from these folks.

  • Awesome. Thanks. I really hope they have a lot of these :)

    • +1

i put 100000 free items in the cart just to check their real time stock and the result was positive :D

  • Looks like that screw driver is out of stock or low. No big deal ordered a different one.
Quickly read the terms and cond. For new customers only and only till they run out or change to a different free item.

  • Cheers, got one with this purchase. https://au.rs-online.com/web/p/trimming-safety-knives/384153…

    Hope they deliver!

  • Used the stock checker and it says 76 left in stock. I tested using 100 units

  • I was going to order a component from element14 as they had a more suitable one, but the free socket set pushed me back to RS. Now I hope the slight hassle with the RS part is worth it!

  • +1

Thanks OP …. fingers crossed, I'd love to receive the socket set (and my purchase :-))

  • +1

Just ordered the same as OP. Fingers crossed.

  • 56 left in stock.

  • Ordered - not sure if they still have them in stock, how do you check?

  • +1

boo to the 'new customers only" thing.

  • -1

    No paypal.. no deal..

  • +5

Believe it or not, the screwdriver just arrived! I ordered 10.33am this morning!

Expected del date of the socket set (i hope) 14/11

    • Wow, that's the fastest delivery I've heard of! Surely it wasn't through Aus Post was it lol

      • Couriers Please

    • +2

My order has just been dispatched via Toll Priority. Only the screwdriver has been dispatched.

    • Yeah same, I got mine already as well

      • wow that's quick…did you get the free socket set?? or??

        • No, and it's not mentioned on the packing slip.

        • +1

@eDust: great indicator of nothings to come for everyone!
They'll make up BS about a glitch and say if you dont want the item that arrived, spend $20 sending it back for a refund.

That said, i hope i eat my words when the socket set comes through.
          Cheers OP

        • @ozy:
I hope I was clear (I can't go back to edit it), I didn't get the freebie, just the screwdriver

        • +2

          @eDust: hey eDust,
You were clear, i was just pointing out that everyone should expect what you got in the way of a freebie…. Nothing.
The only Thing people may get is what they bought!

        • I got the screw first, but today the socket set was delivered. woo!

    • I recall them being fast in posting stuff out.
In the past I ordered a monitor plate for my HP Monitor & laptop stand from them (thanks to Ozbrgn & MSY).

  • i can't seem to select my state when checking out??

    • +2

Select your country first (worked for me)

      • i got it to work by registering first. and on the reg page, it instructs you to select country first, then the state will pop up. odd lol

  • Anyone managed to order via mobile website? Mine isn't working

  • 22 left in stock 3.31pm

  • just ordered mine
the system says 4 left in stock!

  • when checking my invoice it stated free item "2 Piece Pozidriv Driver Bit" not complaining cause free is always good

  • I believe I ordered the last one. Said 1 available when I added to the cart

EDIT: still says 1 available :S

  • +1

How do you use a spark detector screw driver?

    • Not sure what I'll do with mine that I ordered, don't think I will ever use/need it.
Would have been better having a cheap price on the tool set, if they needed to get rid of them.

    • +1

From what I can tell they're to test spark plugs and leads in your car, and apparently you're not meant to poke them into 240V power points and such.

  • cheers batman

  • +1

Bah, bloody work, missed it…great deal nonetheless OP.

  • Did anyone elses credit card NOT get charged?
I ordered this morning and even received Order Confirmation email but no transaction recorded on my CC

    • same here

    • +1

Maybe they figure that it's cheaper to let people keep a $2.60 screwdriver than have to honour the socket set. If you complain they can argue that you were never charged in the first place… maybe I'm over thinking this…

    • same here, only got an order confirmation email

  • !Temporarily out of stock

    • +2

Pity all those genuine RS customers who'll miss out!
Hopefully it doesn't discourage RS from repeating a similar offer.

  • Thanks OP! Ordered one this morning.

    Socket to me………….

  • Hmm I got this email from VISA

"This is an alert to notify you that your card ending in xxxx was used at RS Components Pty for 3.18 AUD without your card present."

    Their invoice total is $2.44

    Strange ?

    • +1

they must be entering cards through manually, never heard of a website doing that this day and age

  • +2

Not bagging the deal, it's good to get something useful for free, but I don't expect this set to be up to the usual Bahco quality. I have seen a similar looking set at Bunnings going for 5-7 bucks which was either a craft right or trojan. Probably fine for light duties, but hey its free I guess

  • Its this kit here according to the pics: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221525891601

    The model is: Bahco SL25

    Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSbSrCspk2o

Those details says its a 60 tooth ratchet and the 6 sided sockets are good for not stripping nuts.

But only the 8, 10 and 13mm sockets will probably see any use (to me at least).

The finish isn't chromium vanadium, it just says "matt chrome finish" and looks like it will rust easily if neglected.

Also they have a life time warranty.

Hopefully I'll get one cos I really like it but I don't expect to as I was pretty late to the offer.

    • pretty sure that 'chromium vanadium' in the other tools you mention is the underlying steel and not the coating which is still chrome. so they'd be chromium-plated chromium vanadium steel.

    • Mate its Bahco… not some cheap set from the back of Kao-Loon :)

  • I received a stranger email from rs saying check out before its too late with the screw driver and socket set in my basket. Problem is I already paid…..

  • None Left - Next Del 12/12/14 - I I saw it just as I clicked continue - dam

  • Anyone know what shopping cart they use, looks pretty good.

  • The free gift is "out of stock" but the socket set on the other hand is "in stock for delivery next working day"

    http://au.rs-online.com/web/p/socket-sets/0254197/

Looks like they chose to end giving them away, in their own terms they said it may be changed for something else. If we get anything at all it might just be cable ties or insulation tape etc.

  • +1

Received order confirmation e-mail yesterday, but there's no orders on my account when logging in.

Anyone else in the same situation?

    • yep. not even an authorisation showing on my credit card transaction history

    • same here

  • -1

You guys got link to the said screw driver set? Thanks

  • +4

Just checked my card. Order totalled $2.77, card was charged $3.26 and then another $0.50 the next day.

    • +3

Hmm. Same here, $2.78 total, charged $3.27, then another 50c. Wonder what happened.

      • +4

Similar situation here, $2.69 total, charged $3.18, & then the next day another 50¢ was charged.

        • at the moment it would say "purchase authorisation"… which means that the 50c would more than likely disappear within 7 days. doesn't explain how the initial purchase was over charged though.

  • My RS account now shows "You currently have no orders in your order history".
Looks like they must have cancelled it.

  • +1

Looks like they ripped everyone? Time will tell I guess.

  • Same here $3.18 and $0.50 !!!

  • +2

Just got a call from RS components after I emailed them, 'The free item is no longer in stock would you like us to cancel your order' - yes please. I assume they're just not processing orders with it attached because my card is still yet to be charged.

Gah I really wanted the socket set, and I got in really early too.

  • +1

Got the screwdriver this morning. My free product has just been dispatched according to my rs online order history. Guess we will see if it is the socket set tomorrow morning :)

    • Same for me. Still overcharged though so will also see how that pans out.

      • +1

My screwdriver isn't here, but tracking works. Free item has supposedly dispatched and I've got a tracking number, but it isn't active yet :)

        • +1

Free item didn't arrive today. Tracking number associated with the order doesn't come up on Toll Priority tracking. Screwdriver did, so not sure what to make of it. They are different looking numbers, the screwdriver order had letters and digits, whereas the free item is just digits.

        • +1

same here, tracking number can't be tracked. however says that it is on its way on rs website.

        • Just received a despatch email with a legitimate toll priority number. Lavage is 513 grams so it looks like a socket set. :)

        • same here!! Toll will deliver next week.

        • Received my socket set. It's actually pretty good quality. The socket wrench is actually quite weighty. Very surprised RS components are doing a freebie like this :)

  • Same no orders in history. Looks like they just got a whole heap of new accounts for free by cancelling orders.
Nothing showing on my cc yet.

  • Thank you for your recent order with RS Components.

Please refer to above order for reference.
This order has been placed on hold due to delivery address issue.

Please note we do require a physical address for the courier and future orders.

Got my screwdriver BUT no free tool kit?

    Edit just got an email

Thank you for your email enquiry.

The free gift is temporily out of stock, the estimated delivery date as of today is Mid December 2014.

    Thank you
    Kind Regards
    Nicole

  • I got in early but my credit card never got charged although an order confirmation email was sent through. Anyone reckon it's worth chasing up the up with the seller?

It's quite funny how Ozbargain produces these highly voted deals with only a few confirmed. I guess Ozbargainers get used to it after a while.

    • same here, got the conformation but still have not been charged, but did notice a spam email from them tonight.Personally I'm not going to bother chasing it up

      • Sent them a email today.

        Received this reply shortly after:

…..Please note that order needs to be manually entered due to a free gift. As soon as this has been completed you will receive the confirmation and the item will be dispatched…..

        • As CodeXD said below….I actually emailed them to follow up instead of calling. Reply email said there was a system issue and they were really sorry, but will be processed and order should arrived 5-10 days….sweet….I'm looking forward to my free gift when that gets dispatched.

  • +2

I ordered the gift without any purchase and it turned up today. Thanks OP.

  • +2

I received confirmation email but nothing in my account order when I log in. Gave them a call and the very nice lady said there was a glitch in the system on Friday (probably due to us :p) and some orders were successful but didn't get sent for dispatch. She said she emailed the warehouse and they will progress it through for me. The free product will be shipping within 2 weeks :)

  • just had my credit card charged for $2.68 today.

  • I ordered on 11.11.14 with an different paid item to the screwdriver - one that I actually need and so that 3,000 don't order the cheap screwdriver…. a bit obvious. I knew the freebie was out of stock and not expected in for a month and looked for a option to provide comment that I was happy to wait for both items to be available before delivery to save 2 - couldn't find. Received paid item just now, 1.5 days later! Delivery would cost more than the item. Checked order, freebie still being processed, rather than "offer expired as out of stock" as mentioned in T&C - while stock lasts. Happy to wait 1 month for sockets (value $59 if ordered normally), don't want substitute bonus as mentioned in T&C also. Seems good service so far, even if not economical in this situation.

Elppa8 - WTF! You cheated the system, don't know how you did that. No other order, how arsy!

    • I wouldn't go as far as calling Elppa8 out for cheating the system - you would think this promo is for genuine (and likely to be repeated) customers unlike majority of us who will only order once and see you later.

      • I mean he used his brain- nothing mentioned you had to buy anything when you became a new customer. He became new customer and ordered the freebie. LOL

        • and that is how I read the promo and the system allowed the transaction, not much different from code stacking, Woolworths probably never intended for codes to be stacked but the system allowed the transactions. Plus I saved them a few dollars on not having to pay a courier to deliver a $2.00 screwdriver for a separate delivery.

  • Got this email response today -

Thank you for your email. Due to the large numbers of orders regarding the free product, there is a delay of 5 to 10 working days.

  • Got email response today saying the order was canceled due to a technical glitch on the website.
I even ordered a $70 meter and this was also canceled.
Meh, too good to be true i guess and the meter i wanted i can get for a for a few dollars more on ebay..

    • I am guessing they mean that the order was cancelled accidentally/lost, not able to recover. Try ordering again.

  • Received the screwdriver yesterday.

  • Called them up, I was like why on earth are both the screwdrivers and socket sets are "Despatched". They said yes the socket set has been despatched….from the UK.

    • Ah thats interesting as I placed my order for both on 07NOV. I received the screwdrivers, which presumably were AU stock on 10NOV - but the 'free gift' was also showing as dispatched - the reference number "1095109xxx" didn't work through the Toll website.

And it hadn't shown as of today but if it's coming from the UK that could explain it.

I think RS should plan their promotions a tad better next time but it does seem like they've tried very hard to fulfill the orders as best possible, a lot of other vendors would wriggle as much as possible to avoid any onus so I think they should be given fair credit for a professional reaction to a tricky situation.

      • Same, ordered on 7/11 and the screwdriver appeared the same arvo.

Check your e-mail, I've just got a notification saying mine's been picked up and a Courier Please tracking number assigned. It's 500g, kinda concerned what's in the package…

EDIT: could be fine, the SL25 kit is only 235g
        http://docs-asia.electrocomponents.com/webdocs/132c/0900766b…

  • +2

My order has just disappeared, no trace and no money taken from my account even though I have a confirmation email, I'll be chasing them up tomorrow.

  • I've just received delivery today with the 25pcs Bahco Socket set via Toll weighted at 513gm - so they may be on its way to everyone else
