Two to three working days has always been my experience. It could be much worse. (Hello, PayPal…)

Don't understand why I am receiving minus votes for sending a "Thankyou" for the information given by you all.

    • Understanding negging of comments is almost as hard as to know why some orders were cancelled by Woolies.

Just laugh it off - there is more negging when people miss a deal.

Just be happy with the 4 '+' - that's more than most got on this long deal ;-)

      And enjoy another successful deal.

      • -5

        I got Negs :O I am shocked!
        Like I said… & so predictable.
Comments about negs are about the fastest way to attract them. At least it deflected the negs away from goosegog :-)
It just shows people do read my comments. I would be disappointed if there were no +/- votes.
Thanks ;-) My task is done.

          Thanks again ;-)

Now I could understand Woolies cancelling all orders which used both coupons, or allowing one order per person, but there seems to be no system to who got their orders cancelled and who didn't.

FWIW, I ended up getting 1 order (delivered today), 2 were cancelled.

  • +11

I worked at Coles Online once upon a time and it'd be the same process as follows.

(TL;DR - your order would have been cancelled because it hadn't been picked yet. Which also explains why one of your orders might have gone through whilst the other two were cancelled.)

The reason for order cancellation is simple. Basically it had to do with when your order was placed. If your order was placed early, picked by a personal shopper and marked as "completed", it would be set to go to you regardless of the widespread cancellations. This is for one simple reason - due to system limitations, they can't cancel an order if it is marked as finalised. If marked as finalised, it means that a personal shopper has already picked the items…if a delivery, the order would have already been included in the delivery routing, so there would be little merit in cancelling it at that late stage.

I hear they scoured the system for all orders that used both coupons, and cancelled them all - the ones that were't in progress or completed were cancelled.

There would have been a lot more success for those who chose the click and collect option for the same day, as the picking of those orders are prioritised to ensure they're ready when you arrive. If you ordered on, say, Friday for delivery on Sunday - the personal shoppers would most likely not have gotten to picking your order yet, making it easier to cancel.

Just a "FWIW". Just in case you wondered ;)

      Thanks for the explanation.

I placed all 3 orders, one after another on the 19th (a couple hours after the deal was posted).

Guess one of my orders was already finalised and the others weren't.

      Well it doesn't matter anyways.

    • I placed 2 orders the day the deal was posted and had them delivered early next day and avoided getting my order cancelled, was nice 84 tins of Dine cat food for 30 bucks, bargain.

    • +1

We probably should've been content with one voucher…

  • I placed a second order after the first had been delivered and so far so good. Different email address but identical name address and credit card details.
Mabe there was an advantage to only having one order in the system at any one time?

  • -2

I placed 3 orders on 20th for delivery today. none of the orders were cancelled. All got delivered today. And it included Beer as well.

  • Order delivered. Only did one order, but included Stella 500ml 24 carton of beer. Having one now!

Woolworths are trying to rip me off!!!

They charged me $7.20 for socks on special for $2.99, I email complaint and they say they are going to give me back $1.35!

According to them I got a 69% discount, so by their logic they credited me $1.35 or 80% off the price I paid!

I replied saying I actually got 40% off therefore I am owed $4.32!

Trying to shaft me for $3… what can I do if they refuse? I'm angry and insulted they tried to apply this BS incorrect math on what was already their error, offering me a paltry $1.35 for a $7.20 error, the nerve!

    • That's bad - try a phoned complaint.

I can't work out their faulty maths either. It does seem they are just offering the difference in price between what you paid & the full purchase price on sale - hence the $3 lower refund.

As I previously replied to you, their in-store (scanning) pricing policy on the overcharged socks would be total refund, so go for it.

Even though the purchase was not scanned in store, it was still scanned by Woolworths, so you can assume that policy still applies. Push it (even if it does not apply) & they will refund.

Saying you should not get a total refund (LESS the discount %) of $4.32 just is not right. Saying your $4.32 is now only worth $1.35 is untenable. You have a clear case for that refund as they overcharged. How many more people is Woolworths overcharging for their socks etc??

After all that was the second error on that order. Remind them of that! Get up them, and they should refund plus offer another voucher. Hope you can still enjoy the socks.

Ok, didn't want to post pre-emptively…

Got my 2 boxes of nappies delivered today. Ordered Friday night, for delivery this morning, as we missed the delivery windows for Saturday and Sunday. Only made one order, created a new Woolworths Online account, got $20 off total order of $58.06 = $38.06.

    Can't complain.

  • 2nd ordered delivered … 7 bottles of wine for the missus

Musts been by someone who missed out completely.

Received my refund today back on cc, for one item (no stock).

  • I emailed them after having my order cancelled and this was their response:

    Dear CptTerry,

Thank you very much for taking the time to contact Woolworths Online in regards to the cancellation of your online order.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused in regards to the cancellation of your online order.

A promotional discount that you applied to your online order had been incorrectly used by a high proportion of our customers which lead to a decision by Woolworths Online to cancel all orders who had used this coupon.

We acknowledge that your order should not have been cancelled and we apologise for any inconvenience that may have been caused.

We have generated a $10 coupon code that can be applied to your next online order as an apology.

The coupon code is [redacted]. Just type the coupon number into the ‘Promotional Code’ box when you proceed to checkout, and press ‘Apply’. This will then deduct the amount of the coupon from your order.

We trust that this provides you with a full understanding as to how your order was managed.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us again; one of our Customer Service Representatives will be more than happy to assist you.

Pity it's only $10 off when my original order was $20 off but at least they acknowledge their mistake in cancelling orders

    • same. Just got that email. Now i'm waiting for free delivery.

  • Has anyone not received a refund?

    • Yeah I received mine a day or two later. I also called up to give them a serve as they cancelled my order within 24 hours and no explanation or phone call. So they gave me a $20 goodwill voucher which I have also received via email.

    • I got an notice that something in my order were out of stock, so they would refund me partially @ $6.22, and they did, but the rest of the order never arrived. Sent an email to ask and got a response that because of the over used coupon, the whole order was cancelled. I am chasing up the rest of my money now. Same thing happened my other 2 or 3 orders (under different family member's name).

It's really hard to know which orders were already delivered fully/partially refunded, as the refund doesn't come with a note including order number, and they didn't send me cancellation notice in email as well.

      • -2

That's why orders got cancelled I reckon because people were ordering 2 or more orders per household. Had everyone ordered 1 order per house then none of them may have been cancelled.

If you had placed one order you would know which refund it is for :P

        • Oh well, no condition attached when I saw the code. Few ozbargainer would make just one order, especially when the codes could be used for 3 times per account in Wollies' system.

        • I didnt say it was a condition but its common sense. The more orders placed the higher the chances Woolies would notice and they did.

        • Woolies have stated it was the quantity of vouchers submitted that brought about the retraction of the code. They were concerned with total use, Not total per household.

A count of coupon use needs to be kept to detect over use and to help in future (targeted) marketing. When marketing is designed using discounts, the total cost of discounting is estimated against the potential for increased sales & profits. Obviously this was a bad deal for Woolies & the offer withdrawn, as per t&c.

It is only at the local distribution level that multiple household use could tend to show up, but I doubt it was tracked. As it is quite legitimate for multiple orders or accounts per household, it would not raise alarm. This was shut down at a higher level.

These codes were already circulating for combined use in at least one large bargain loving community before this deal was posted, so could have been being "Ozbargained" before it was even posted on OzBargain.

Given the likely large number of people ordering from many copies of this Woolies deal posted on many sites, limiting orders to 1 per OzBargain household may not have made any real difference.

And try convincing OzBargainers that they should show restraint… most have adapted the motto of "Vote early and vote often" to bargain hunting.

Woolies marketing error was always going to be shut down.

  • +1

For those saying if only OzBargainers had only placed 1 order, my orders would not have been cancelled…

[I've been watching this deal, from posting the first comment - clarifying the cryptic details; watching it build momentum; before finally crashing with the usual predictable recriminations.]

OzBargain was not necessarily the first or only site listing this combination of codes - Google "Woolworths 8E4906 8DDC7G" for the list. Some were passing on the OzBargain deal. But back at the start of this deal, a comment questioned if this was originally posted in Chinese on https://www.oursteps.com.au/bbs/archiver/?tid-894428.html - comments appear to predate this deal posting. Word of mouth would have spread the deal further. There were a lot of people besides OzBargainers who placed 1 or more orders. And it seems many were quicker to take up the offer while it lasted.

It seems cancellations mainly affected those ordering later (many 24+hrs after this deal was posted). Missing out on a deal by arriving late is neither surprising not unusual for attractive deals on OzBargain. The surprising thing was how long this deal ran before the first cancellation.

By that time it was clear Woolworths did not want 2 codes to be used, but OzBargainers found a way round that, ignoring a notice on Apps that the second code could not be used.

But to place orders, we agreed to Woolworths online t&c which included withdrawing coupons "anytime". Once the coupon became invalid (even after confirmed) - the order is not fully paid, hence cancelled. (If 2 $10 discounts were applied to $50 order, but only 1 is deemed valid by Woolworths, your order is $10 underpaid, so not complete & so cancelled.)

Codes were apparently never meant (by Woolworths) to be stacked on the same $50 purchase. When so many came through, they say they acted to revoke the coupon & cancel orders. Some orders had already been processed & even delivered or collected, so avoided the intended cancellation.

But it would seem more benefited from this deal than had their order cancelled. Woolies is refunding, and some have complained & been given discount vouchers. Nearly 700 '+' votes with few retracted & now only 1 neg reflects this.

    • +1

      Agreed.

I just feel bad for the people getting the stuff around with refunds.

      • It's probably due to the chaos this deal created that Woolies is having difficulties with the refunds. Refunds will come. Otherwise, get up them - but they are probably dealing with so many. And whoever put the coupon codes up (that many benefited from) may have to go:-(

    • +1

I'm surprised Woolworths didn't learn from the last time this happened (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/121848) and fix their system…

      • Before i posted that deal, you could stack as many codes as you liked. In that case i stacked 4 codes for get $35 off $50 spend. It only lasted about two hours before they introduced a limit of two codes per transaction.

However, i was surprised when 6 months later i was able to stack three codes (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/144194)

  • Is it just me, or have others stopped receiving WW fuel discounts & Qantas FF points via EDR? Got caught buying petrol tonight with zero discounts. Maybe I'm in the WW penalty box?

    • Yes, I noticed there is no 4c petrol discount on my EDR account from this purchase, even though I swear I saw it on the receipt/packing sheet that came with the delivery (which was binned so I cant check!).

      • It was definitely on there.

  • Just a head up to anyone interested: I received the giftcard from Woolworths as refunded today. It came as a registered mail :)
PS. I used giftcard as the payment method when I made my order.

    • +1

Well done for getting the refund as a gift card.

      • +1

i've had no troubles previously. i simply asked that i get a gift card instead of credit. it takes a week or two to process though.

        • +1

It took me several attempts with different staff members to get a refund by gift card for a previous problem. It took a couple of weeks to come as you mentioned but I didn't mind the wait.

    • +1

Was a quick process to get gift card refund in 1 call last time. They even doubled the refund from $16 to $32. Took about 10 days for delivery.
