Sure beats the Woolies offers at the moment.

    • +1

They recently fixed the glitch where you could get a monthly shop online with 10% discount and double dip in store and get another 10%.

      • Good to know thanks, was planning on using this in store, damn

  • +3

$190 weekly spend for 10000pts or $240 weekly speend for 20000pts, seems a lot

    • +2

well stop spending so much at coles then…they will lower it.

  • +3

I shop wherever the cheapest + half priced.
I compare price between Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, Costco, NQR and local markets.
Saved more than $12.50/week ($50/4 weeks).

    • Consider points offers & Cashback to save more!
      Buy with accumulated points.
(Not available at Aldi, so rarely shop there.)

Recently did $100+ shop @Woolies, for Total of ~$68 off💰

$30 cashback on $100, $10 off for online order, targeted 5400 Bonus EDR Pts ($27cr) for $100 shop. And other points

Plus those savings with sale price.

Not a fan of being locked into shopping at 1 store for 4 weeks.
Limits choice, as missing shop 1 week means missing offer points!

But have this offer on 4 x $50.

      • Limits choice, as missing shop 1 week means missing offer points!

When you completed the goal of week1, you will be super tempted to complete goal 2, 3 and 4, even if there is no bargain at all during that week.
You turned out spending more than you should.
I am smart enough not to be manipulated this way.
I maintain full control of how I shop.
Single shop at wherever it's cheapest.
Don't be loyal, Don't make commitment.
        Always research and switch.
The rule applies on everything. Energy, NBN, mobile, airline frequent flyer etc.

I am smart enough not to be manipulated this way.
I maintain full control of how I shop.

Lol! If you believe you are not manipulated by supermarkets - you are! Even the ACCC realise that.
Supermarkets spend millions to do just that!

But seems not "smart enough" to look beyond basic pricing to get best value…

I use their "loyalty" systems to my advantage!
As Ozbargainers should also consider to save the most.
Not just shop the apparent cheapest price - as you do! There are other factors to get the best deal!

Have been posting for about last decade on how to get the best out of supermarket points systems.
          Posted: Woolies 16000 pt ($80) offer for 8 x 1c min spends

          Certainly never loyal!
Have previously referred to myself as a 'supermarket slut😉
Shopping for best value, not just comparing prices.

You turned out spending more than you should.

          As I commented - almost $70 off a $100+ shop!
          You do better than that??

Only used Coles 4 x $50 offer twice this year. Woolies had far better offers on single shops.

By not taking points offers & Cashback into account to save more - you certainly aren't saving money!

Often leave the store with more in points value than I spent! Frequently receive offers of $10 or more in points for 1c min spend.
Then spend those points on next shop💰

          Research… (Thats my specialty!)
Retiring in my 30's to travel overseas up to 9 months a year, I ensure I keep costs low.

Long ago wrote a Wiki on how to get the most from SIM Deals. Write here about budget travel. And have never paid for electricity for years!!

That's what we do on OzBargain! Share what we learn to save money.

          • @INFIDEL: First of all, you've edited your comment multiple times after I neg it.
I neg it not because of your arguments, but your disrespectful and arrogant tone in your very first edition of comment, which you have all deleted now.

Secondly, you may consider cashback and points as savings, that's your money your choice.
BTW, I just bought $1/kg of grapefruits, $4/a box of 10kg green beans, $5/a box of 10kg red capsicums etc at my local market earlier this week.
And I am able to hunt for the best price regularly where no supermarket cashback and points can beat.

I do shop at Coles and Woolies, only when there is a real bargain.

Thanks for your contribution to OZB wiki, it helps new members a lot I am sure. Just remember there is still a lot to learn every day.

            Enjoy your weekend.

@AsukaST: My criticism was of your over simplistic focus only on savings to be made by spending much time researching & then shopping at multiple stores.

              Most won't do that.
We value our time for more enjoyable options.

It requires so much more effort & time than simply clicking on a supermarket site & ordering.

Yes, we will at times find some great bargains. But that's often just by chance & at local shops others don't have option to visit.
Did enjoy the $2.20/kg button mushrooms from Coles as part of last 4 x $50 order for 10000 pts😄

Spending time researching cheapest electricity, Telco, or even flight deals is a very different proposition!! Usually very worthwhile💰
That's a larger saving done infrequently - of longer effect, rather than done weekly to save a small amount on groceries.

And some products I use daily are only available at 1 supermarket. So no choice - stock up with good points offers.

But travelling between those stores may cost more than the savings for some. Some don't have your range of choices you have.

Considering possible minimum hourly rates forgone to find & pick up your purchases, it may make the savings you quote disappear or be negative!!

Just like in some Deals, people praise Costco for saving them money, but is expensive 60k return trip for me.

And doesn't take into account discounts available such as discount Gift Cards etc (as much as 10% for me at some supermarkets) or redeemed points used to pay for purchases.

In a recent Aldi Deal, it was pointed out the Tim Tams on sale were much cheaper at ColesWorth when loyalty points & discount Gift Cards were talen into account.

So may not be as useful or save money for as many as you think.

[Your comment does seem more like the usual criticism of major supermarkets found in many ColesWorth Deals, but presented as how to save $!]

Enjoy the savings, despite all the extra work👍

  • Mine is $100 each week

  • +1

    Mine is $70

  • $50 here!

  • +2

I have to spend $60 for immediate 10% off?
Anyway have moved to Aldi almost exclusively. They're always 10% off.

  • +3

Or you could spend less each week at Aldi and save more in the process :)

  • +1

I never seem to get these offers any more!

  • +2

    $120 per week for 4 weeks….pass

  • +1

$170 per week for 4 weeks….pass as well.

  • Thanks for the 'Heads Up' OP. I didn't get this offer. Perhaps because I bought 5 x $100 prepaid Mastercard yesterday swiping FB Card. But will monitor my offers.

    • Might be just the luck of the draw. I swiped yesterday wrt prepaid Mastercards and got the $50 x 4 weeks offer too. However, I’ve only received 525 points.

  • I got $110 which I will do as I am stocking up for Christmas. Will be handy for chocolate boxes, etc.

  • $60…. not much i want to buy these days from coles, I'll just wait for $50 again

  • mine was $280 for 10k……

  • I got $60 as well

  • Im surprised I received 50/week offer. I used the same flybuys account the past 2 offers and still got 50 now. With my weekly spending I will take this offer 50 or 60, maybe not if its 70 or above.

  • I got a 2 tier one, $240 for 10000 or $290 for 20000, or $50/$100 off.

  • +2

This is carrot and stick consumer training behaviour.

The more you do it, the further Flybuys move the carrot away. What started out as a relatively easily achieved spend is now a 'stick it where the sun doesn't shine' amount. If it was genuinely a program for loyalty, they would do the reverse.

Every now and then we are getting a '10% off if you spend a minimum X' offer. X is a rising number, too.

Why they are offering discounts for buying online does not seem logical. You tie up one of their staff members fetching the good for you and processing payment. Logically, they should be giving you a discount for filling your own basket and checking it through the register without any assistance from their staff.

The Flybuys loyalty scheme cost people money. Those who use it tend to over-buy. Those who don't use it pay prices that subsidise the loyalty scheme. For consumers, that's lose, lose.

    • +3

I dont get sucked into it. Just dont buy for a whie and my offer amount reduces. Simples 🤣

      • +3

        Even simpler…
Have more more than 1 Flybuys account & alternate use.

        Almost always receive 4 x $50.

Once got up to $60 spend😲 Stopped using that account for a while. Went back to $50.

        • Good tip. Can i have 2 accounts in my name?

          • +1

@corky: Have 3 with different first names (almost any name will do), same family name & address etc.

            • @INFIDEL: Wow. Thanks. Thought they'd have been on top of that

              • +2

@corky: Think my long dead budgie has a Woolies Rewards account😉

        • +1

But keep a record of the name, email and date of birth you use as you may need to provide that to identify yourself.

          • +1

            @Yola: Yes!
On the rare time I contact support, I first look up the details for that account kept on mobile.

My experience with Woolies Rewards - I use the same phone number & address for all accounts. As they usually ask for that - it brings up multiple accounts! An embarrassing situation. I just ask to use a different detail to identify the account like email.

To verify access to account - DOB is usually required. As this is different for each "person" / account - better be ready for that. Can use almost same for each - with a digit different for year.

  • Been receiving 120 per week for the last 2 rounds. Haven't shopped much at Coles, so got 100 this time around. Still not worth it. Upto 70 is my upper limit.

Continuing with Aldi for the time being. May still do half price items if really needed.

  • Back to $50 for me this round after rejecting the last round which was $70 (and $60 the round before that, which I did activate).

    • I started this year getting $50/week spend offers, which steadily increased as I continued to accept the offers, until it reached $100/week in September (which I did accept). I rejected the $120/week offer in October, and didn't buy much from Coles for a few weeks.

Now I'm pleased to be back to $50/week with this offer.

  • $80 on one and $120 on another.

  • +1

$100 spend this time. Not going to bother. Previous $50 was a lot easier to hit. Although sometimes I did spend over $100 in one week since I needed extra things. Maybe that’s why they’ve raised it

  • I haven't shopped at Coles from the past 2 $80 spend offers they've given me. Bloody thing won't go down!

    • +1

Did you activate those offers and then fail to do the required spend, or did you just not activate the offers?

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I would like to find out.

      • I too would like to know!!

      • +1

I activated them. I thought i read somwhere that you should activate but then dont follow through. Seems to be BS

  • +1

In past got $50 and $60, now up to $80/week.. I'm out

  • +1

Was $60 last time back down to $50 this week.

  • Mine is $300 for the $50 and $350 for the 100 …. grubs

    Pass

    • -1

How did you let your total ballooned out so much?

  • +1

I just spent my previous 'free' $50, and just received this one. The seventh one this year.

Coles has worked out the only way I spend more than a few dollars in their store is through these offers. I'm more than happy to stock up on commodity items that are identically priced across all supermarkets.

    • What do you stock up on? I’m planning to do the same with my offer

  • $130 for me, crazy how much it varies been a little while between offers

  • I was getting high spend offers. Stopped using the flybuys card for a few weeks. What do you know, back down to $50 now!

  • Seems like targeted? I didn't get this deal, despite having it a few times recently.

    • Deal states Targeted.

  • I got 50 + 50 + 70 + 80 in four cards.

I guess I might be able to take two of those

  • Does wollies give similar offer ever? I hardly see one

    • +2

Yes. But not usually for locked in multiple weeks of shopping.
(If you forget 1 week with these - no bonus points) That's why I prefer Woolies single shop offers.

And not commonly posted as Deals.

Experience last month on 1 spend
      Targeted 5400 Bonus EDR Pts ($27cr) for 1 x $100 shop
+ $10 off for online shop
+ $30 on cashback site for $100 shop

Targeted Offers of 2000pt for 1c min spend have been frequent until about 2 weeks ago. Staff have a good laugh as I buy a 30c Mandarin for the $10 credit😉

  • $70 whoohoo. Last two offers were $110 & $130 which I didn’t do.

  • I got $60 probably because I kept spending $57 or $58 for the previous iteration.

Will make sure each shop is less than $62 this time

  • +1

Got the $50 each week for 4 weeks and combined with the spend $60 get 10% off.

  • Got the $50 each week for 4 weeks and $50 off.

Question: Can I use gift cards to pay the shoppings?

    • Yes, you can. But do not accept the instant $10 off that pops up on the screen unless you purchase an extra $10 worth. If you do that, your minimum spend will increase in the futurefor the same bonus points.

  • Think it's included but does buying SIM cards count towards the spend amount?
