Aldi has this exact message on their water bottle packs.

    • Started collecting containers for change about a month ago and I'm astound how fast an 80L tub fills up. Soft drink cans, these frantelles, beer bottles etc. adds up quick!

    • +4

Yeah but unfortunately overall it costs more than before the scheme was put in place (at least in VIC where we now pay an additional $0.10 per bottle) so it’s not really a win.

      • +1

Also, local councils previously made money from these. Now our bins are full of recycling that doesn’t earn councils anything.

        • +1

And you get the scavengers walking around going through your bin to make money.

      • It actually cost you more than 10 cents per bottles in any state or territory that recognise the container return scheme. Its normally a purchaser pay for the scheme system.

Most water 24 packs should have gone up by 3 dollars or 12.5 cents a bottle. In this case you pay 2.5 cents to be able to claim 10 cents. The actual increases depends on the scheme.

I mean in WA the scheme was soo successfully they increased the non recoverable scheme fee.

Thanks OP, you successfully make me spend another $10 :)

I get 24 600ml water packs for $8.49 from my local bulk grocer

    Is it fluoride free

    • +1

Fluoride in water is completely fine and actually prevent a lot of tooth issues.

      • +4
        • +3

There may be one or two factors other than fluoride that are ausing low IQ in children in the US….lol

        • How do they get control groups for these studies when the entire population is polluted? It’s the same issue for a lot of things that can’t be studied because there is no control group anymore.

        • Did you read any of it?

Literally the first paragraph of the second section of the document ("Findings") - which is a grand total of 4 paragraphs down from the top - counters your argument (emphasis mine):

The NTP monograph concluded that higher levels of fluoride exposure, such as drinking water containing more than 1.5 milligrams of fluoride per liter, are associated with lower IQ in children. The NTP review was designed to evaluate total fluoride exposure from all sources and was not designed to evaluate the health effects of fluoridated drinking water alone. It is important to note, however, that there were insufficient data to determine if the low fluoride level of 0.7 mg/L currently recommended for U.S. community water supplies has a negative effect on children’s IQ.

Last I checked, 0.7 was significantly less than 1.5.

That data is also all for the US. Australia has it's own regulations, which for Queensland is 0.6 to 0.8mg/L depending on location, and must be within a tolerance of ±0.1mg/L, measured daily and averaged across a quarter. This is also significantly less than 1.5mg/L.

Us Aussies could be more resilient to fluoride, and are more intelligent anyway so can more readily afford to lose a few IQ points :P

        You are wrong

        • It can prevent tooth decay so they are at least half right.

      • In tap water. Bottle water is filtered

  • +6

i miss the days when these went on sale for $6-7 :'(

    • +3

Absolutely and here we are, when double that price is also considered a deal!

    • +1

Yeah used to get them for $5 before the Great Inflation

  • OOS

  • +7

Who pays for water? It’s free…

    • -2

for on the go, store it in the car, in the truck, etc

      • +3

I use an old bottle and fill it up before i go out with the mrs……………

        • +1

          Exactly!

        • +2

What if you go out alone?

      • Mmm melted plastics

    • I buy these for my espresso machine since it has lower water hardness

    • Depending where you are, water from the tap can taste absolutely awful. You'd need to filter it to make it bearable, which costs money, is a PITA, and makes the water taste alright but not as good as bottled.

    • +2

      How is water free?

If your someone who lives in a metro area someone does actually pay your water bill.

  • Does this taste better than the $9 Aldi water?

    • yes

    • No

    • +3

      Maybe

    • +5

      Can you repeat the question?

      • -1

        can you repeat the question?

    • No Frantelle is foul!

      i can taste the plastic.

Even did a blind taste test on 4 different brands on a bet. I could tell it was Frantelle easily it tasted the worse couldnt differentiate the other 3 brands they all tasted the same.

I drank a awful awful lot of Frantelle water during the Dargo bush fires of 2006-2007 as a contractor that was the brand being purchased by the DSE at the time.

  • Thanks OP!

  • +1

This is your reminder to drink some water and fix posture.

    • +2

      And cure your hunchback!!

  • Thanks OP! Grabbed a slab!

  • +11

Can I drink this Spring water in Summer? Asking for a friend

    • Thank you for reminding, I reckon that's why it's on sale!

  • The usual back + forth points, all having validity.

Filling every storage spot in my car means I drink water everyday, instead of just COFFEE. When I don't, I don't. So none of the previous points matter. We're all strange in some way

    • -1

Leaving plastic water bottles in a hot car…

Just fill a stainless steel bottle and bring it with you it's not hard

      • -1

Not sure what temp you think it becomes a problem in Melbourne, but my windows are left open - it's not hard 😉

Just do this, just do that. What I do has had a huge benefit to my health. And I haven't seen any issues

        • -1

its not hard to bring a reusable stainless steel bottle either

  • back in stock

  • Worst tap water bottle ever.

    OW's AquaToGo is much better.

  • These used to cost $6 on sale. What happened

    • Inflation and you now need to recycle the botttle yourself, $2.4 back

  • -2

Still costs more than unbranded Woolies and coles. I never quite understood the point of paying extra for a brand Vs unbranded ones. Tastes the same, same quality. Why pay more? The colorful bottle?

  • Most water bottle come from same suppliers - eg. NuPure supplies blank bottles that is rebranded for Aldi, Woolworths, Costco Kirkland etc
    https://nu-pure.com.au/products/#private-lable-range

The costco bulk pack works out much cheaper

  • -8

Water is free from the tap.

  • it would have been good if there was no limit. I will just wait till woolworths or coles drops to 11 and just buy a couple from there.

  • $8.99 or could have been less now 2nd week at IGA Dallas (Broadmeadows), they usually post new sales every few days on their fb group but its been worth travelling from Port melbourne to get groceries from there as well as fresh plus next to it.
Definitely worth checking out your local (within 30km/35min max drive) middle eastern grocers

  • My local chinese grocer (Eastwood NSW) sells 12 pk for $4 so 24x 600ml for $8 (Nature's Best brand).

    • This is an "OK" deal

  • Thanks; bought 10

  • Coles brand tastes fine to me..

    • Try Pureau next time it's on special. It's like you're drinking air, absolutely flavourless. I got addicted and now I buy the 10L casks :)
