  • Oh. I was posting this but too slow. Insane price - well done!

    • Me too, was 6 minutes late to the game :P

    • Hah I was too excited when I saw this in my inbox - thought it was a pricing error for a second..!

    • Sounds like Bose will have a new model coming out, hence clearing the old models.

  • What's the standard price for these?

    • +1

This should be a historic low - BFCM deal was $250+ the lowest.

        • Different model SE vs SC.

        • That's QC45 SE, a generation older than QC SC.

          • +1

@xmagic: oops, my bad, but I remembered (incorrectly it seems) that there weren't any differences between the 45 SE and SC models.
            I didn't neg you btw.

            • @equanimity: An hour or two longer battery life and BT 5.2 support on newer model

              • @xmagic: Ah fair enough, haven't been keeping up on it!

                • +3

@equanimity: I don't know why I still pulled the trigger even though my QC35 is still working. Just <$200 is too good to miss.

                  • @xmagic: I'm honestly considering it even with my rather new XM4s….

                    • +1

@equanimity: If it's XM3 or QC35 may be worth an upgrade. XM4 is already on par or better than QC45, while QC 2023 is only marginally better than QC45.

If you don't have AirPods Pro 2, and it fits you well (you can get a test fit at an Apple Store), you should try it. ANC and features are great.

                      • @xmagic: I ended up pulling the trigger on this deal (just on the killer price).

My ears hate the AirPods Pro 2 - I get severe skin irritation from the buds. I ended up getting the AirPods 4 ANC for light use, works great, but definitely a step below the Pros.

                    • @equanimity: Don't bother, xm4s are much better. These are still great for this price

                      • @BarrytheBargain: XM4 were too small for my ears - Bose were the better fit, so they got the nod. No regrets.

                        • +1

@nafe: my experience with SONY headphones was shallow earcups pressing on my ears which would become excruciating after a few hours on a long overseas flight.

Bose have deeply angled earcups which don't press my ears and I can wear for 15 hours no problemo.

            • +3

              @equanimity: Nah… it's OzB. +s and -s are just random.

Picked the SC up for $145 in May, when JB ran out of the SE models before the in-store sale even started. They officially offered the SC instead but did not advertise it so the only way to get it was to go in-store and ask or ask online to price match it.

        • similarly, I got a pair of SC on 29/5/24 for $164 at JBHiFi half-price sale for SE - they'd run out of those and in-store let me have the SC for the same price - sweet as, and I use them now every day as my daily listener both at home for Bluetooth laptop and out and about with my iPhone, including for overseas flights noise-canceling.

  • +5

Outstanding price for a headphone that is still amongst the very best for music, noise-cancellation and overall comfort.

    • +2

Especially considering the headset is the same as standard model, just sans the hard case and additional colour options.

  • Thanks OP

  • can you use these for ms teams calls/discord on a PC and/or android phone?

    • +1

Yes, but the onboard microphone is just meh.

      • That's QC35?

        • +1

Not much improvements from newer models anyway.

But QC2023 comes with an inline microphone on the 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable. Means you get a better quality microphone if use wired.

  • Wow I got ripped off at amazon a few weeks ago didnt I.

    • +2

EDIT: If you did a me, you can request a return from amazon based on price, which ive done and ordered at JB for $178

  • +4

Its a bit more expensive than May offer. I bought them for $145 (including perks discount)

    • +4

QC 2023 has newer BT 5.2 and slightly better battery life. It's not entirely the same as QC45 SE.

      • Thanks. Did not know that.

      • JB sales QC and QE for same promo price in May.

        • During that deal they ran out off SE so JB online support offered me SC at the same price, $169 delivered. I've liked it so far, very comfortable to wear and excellent noise cancelling. Had to returned SE due to bluetooth and sudden loud sound issues. No problems with SC.

      • QC 2023 has newer BT 5.2…

        According to the Bose website:
Bluetooth range: up to 30 ft (9 m)
        Bluetooth version: 5.1

Where are you getting the info on BT 5.2?

    • Yea I couldn’t use the perks discount but I did get the SC for $164+$7.99 shipping from support chat. Saved a few bucks using giftcard.

Ended up selling it. Was not that much better than my Bose QC25 (I don’t mind having a chord). I will just get whatever deal is on when it finally dies.

      • I always preferred arpeggios myself

        • I also like accord

  • +5

RIP if you forgot to use 10% coupon

    • I ordered again using the code, and asked to cancel the first order.

  • No auto pause sensor.
Also not sure if this is just me, when wearing on the flight, after 30mins i will get massive air pressure feeling on my ears.

    • +1

I still prefer an over-ear on flights as AirPods Pro 2 doesn't fit my ear very well, and I can't have them more than 3 hours. But over-ears I can easily do 10+.

      I'd say it's a very personalised experience.

    • Yeh definitely personal preference. I wore my xm4 on my flights from Europe back home (25 hours straight wearing), and I was fine without any discomfort. Also the auto pause sensor annoys me so I turn it off

    • I fly with mine all the time, no pressure issues personally.

    • 'after 30mins i will get massive air pressure feeling on my ears'

this seems to be a rare complaint - have you tried lifting the headphones off to equalise the air pressure at cruising altitude ?

  • The marketing throws me, here is the "SC model" with a different picture, but no mention of SC once you follow the Amazon link

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/883111

Then jbhifi also has this same picture at the increased/more common price but not as SC

    • After some googling it appears that it's just soft case vs hard shell case,

"QuietComfort SC Headphones are the same as QuietComfort Headphones"

      • +2

Also QC 2023 has multiple colours, while QC SC only comes in black

        • +2

Not sure who decided all these were a good idea, "lets just flip the image horizontally"

    • +1

I don't think the one you've linked is SC. OP might've incorrectly called it SC

Ad shows hard case, listing has other colours (SC is only black). Probably the regular version

  • How does one become a JB Hi-Fi Perks member?

    • +3

      Check your inbox, enjoy :)

      • Ha, legend!

I just checked & it looks like I must be a perks member, I just hadn't received the recent $10 voucher.

  • How is the multi point connection on this? Can i just pause youtube on laptop and press play on mobile vice versa without going to Bluetooth settting each time?

    • +1

Yup, you can connect two devices concurrently.

This is a bit different from AirPods's instant switching - Bose QC actually connect to both devices concurrently.

      • Got a set of xm3 and thinking of buying these for this feature alone

    • It's ok.

      Yes.

It is worth installing the Bose app to select the two devices that you want to connect to. If you pair with 5 devices then it can be a bit confusing.

The side button can be used to find out or select what two devices you are connected. If one device name is long, then it can be frustrating to use this approach. "Connected to PC1234567890 and Tim iPad"

    • not sure with the Bose Music app which I use for the EQ bass/mid/treble adjustment - in which I can see at the moment my laptop and iPhone as 'Paired Devices'

If I recall if I try to connect a third device (in addition to Bose Music app) I cannot, and will have to disconnect/unpair one of the others.

It may be that if you don't use the Bose Music app/EQ you might be able to pair 3 devices ?

      • i never see any headphones with pair 3 most are max 2

  • Thanks OP, got one!

  • Fark I thought this coupon ended tonight.

Very tempted to get this tomorrow with some GCs I need to burn.

  • +1
    • +1

With multi point, yes, sound from primary device would cause cutoff when playing music from secondary device.

      • huh is that what we want? if i play from 2nd device i want the sound from 1st device to stop

        • Not stop, as it's just a short notification sound, it finished before the headphones fully switch to the primary device channel, and then switch back to the secondary device, resulting around 1-2 seconds sound skipping for the secondary device's playback.

  • Anyone not planning on using their code? Please DM me.

Edit - I did not get the perks email and trying to get in touch with JB.

    • Seems it's a generic code this time that anyone can use: 92XUYX6V32C11I

  • Are you able to use the 10% off as well as the $10 perks discount?

    • +1

      No, can't stack them

  • I am keen to get a code for perks please

    • 92XUYX6V32C11I

  • Coupon does not apply to this basket

    getting this error

    • +1

You need to use 10% code not 5%code?

    • Did you use the right coupon code?

There’s 2 unique codes for different purposes

      • +1

yeah, was using wrong one. figured it out. Thanks

  • +4

Looks like Bose will price match, and give you a 90 day trial. https://www.bose.com.au/en_au/products/headphones/noise_canc…

    • I bought 10 days ago, trying to get them to match this deal now :)
      Edit: they matched

      • +1

        How?

        • Go to their chat, it was less than 10 mins for them to do it

          • @yanyan1: about 15 for me, they tried to go for a smaller refund till i pointed out the tax should be refunded too.

      • How x2 lol. I bought them recently too

edit: just did this through their chat

        • How they will refund? Original payment method or can you supply a new one? @yanyan1 @rhimes

    • +2

Then stack with Amex deal if you get one: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/883051

(Though you may need to order other stuff to reach $200)

      • Any cheap things to add?

        • Accessories? Replacement cushions? (about $40 a pair which kind of defeats the purpose)

      • Price match promise
Shop confidently, knowing we’ll match a lower price.

If you purchase a new product from www.bose.com.au and then find a lower price for that same product on our site or through selected authorised Bose resellers—JB Hi-Fi, Myer or Harvey Norman—you can request a price match/refund within 7 days of purchase.

So technically we spend over $200 already, get cashback from amex and later bose transfer back the difference separately

        • +1

That's one way to interpret - but I'm just afraid that if Bose choose to do a partial refund directly on the card instead, the offer may become ineligible.

        • Btw, one Bose chat agent said that use of any coupon to lower the original Bose price would immediately disqualify the item from any price match. For example, if you used the welcome 10% coupon on the SC, you would not get any money back from the price match (because no price match for you). Of course, even in that case, you could still return the whole thing for a full refund

    • i checked on chat, they are only price matching with $199, if it helps others
