SHOKZ OpenRun Pro 2 or OpenRun Pro 2 Mini $280.99 (Was $319) + $13.99 Delivery ($0 with $350 Order) @ Soundz Store Australia

Was in the market for a bone conduction headphone for my cycling commutes to work. Ended up finding these and seemed like a reasonable price given how new they are and I haven't seen many sales on them.

Available should be most if not all colours on the sale price. Seems like Soundzstore has a few other colours and variants of Shokz stuff so might be worth checking out their website for different models!

Though keen to hear people's thoughts comparing this model to the new Audio Technica model that just came out, though seems a bit too early for reviews.

These are fantastic, I have the Openrun Pro 1 and they are quite good but I tried these in a JB and they have a very noticable improvement in sound quality and volume ceiling

    • I haven’t tried them yet, but I’m apprehensive about the new version. They are focused less on bone conduction than on air conduction (i.e. a regular speaker near your ear). Hence sounding better in some scenarios than the previous version.

My priority for headphones when running or riding is being able to clearly hear cars, animals, etc. and I worry a regular speaker near my ear would be counter productive.

Some discussion on Reddit here: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/1geh6rg/shokz_o…

Sounds like it’s possible to revert them to just bone conduction mode.

Looks like i dont have that option :(. And seems like others in certain regions / app versions don't see it. weird…

Disregard the above, if. you tap the "EQ Modes" heading a few times, a "Display classic" toggle will show up allowing you to do it.

      • I went for the new version for USB c charging.
I switch between classic mode and volume boost depending on what I am doing.

  • I bought these for this price from this mob a month or two ago and highly recommend both the seller and the product :)
Make sure you get the right size for your head/neck

I have this pair, can't recommend them enough. I use them over my Sony noise cancelling earbuds in most cases. It's nice to be able to hear my surroundings while listening to a podcast or whatever.

Can be hard to hear when running into a strong headwind. The only other consideration is I have used the swim versions and if you are a swimmer they are amazing for under water use. I think they Bluetooth aswell so you could save yourself buying two seperate pairs like I'm going to do.

Seems like buying these for $262.99 should give you a lot more waterproofing, and 32GB of MP3 storage. Why do they cost less than the runners?

Doesn't seem like you can use bluetooth underwater though which makes sense from their site:
"*Only MP3 mode can be used underwater because water blocks Bluetooth signals."

      • Yeah they seem to do everything the run ones do, but with onboard storage aswell.
They look to just lack the "pro2" feature of the added bass speakers.
If I had my time again I would have just bought the swim ones though.

  • I bought the Aeropex model in Nov 2020. They've developed "the rattle" which I hope newer models have improved their design, but they're good for music and calls. Great in the heat too rather than sweaty over the ear can headphones.

Definitely worth measuring to check what size you are. I have a huge head and surprisingly fit the mini variant. Great product though. I hate running with anything in my ears now.

  • 99c cheaper at 99 bikes

(if you already have club membership which is $5 for life)

Cheaper on Catch $10 off with SAVE10 code and free shipping, sold by same retailer via catch marketplace

  • I bought one recently but unfortunately had to return after a week. It is good for listening to music but useless for outdoor phone conversations.

  • Just thought I'd share this here as I got a pair of the openrun mini's price match at JBHIFI for $159 (pros for $199):
