  • Thank you OP, my long search with new NC headphone ends here.

Although I do have big concern of the Bose mic problem, but this one at least provides with a wired mic, so I guess that is accually better than the higher ends like ultra.

    • Wired what…

      • in-line microphone, it has built-in mic, the wired one just to be used when you are not in a quite place.

Don't need one. Got one. Thanks OP!

    • +1

      Nag cancelling headphones.

      • Rofl this gave me a really good chuckle.

Also a new t shirt idea.

Also a new t shirt idea.
is that something like "bose saves my marriage" writing

  • Thanks OP!

  • got SC and SE for $160 or thereabouts during their May clusterf&k

  • +5

Good deal. Was contemplating to get earbuds from Bose but this deal made me buy a Bose Headphone instead. Always wanted one as my dad used to talk about how Bose was supposed to the greatest even though he never owned one. Would have gifted this to him if he was still around but will listen to some songs he liked, in his memory.

This headphone will replace my old TaoTronics one which my young daughter has successfully chewed through. I am afraid that my newborn son will do the same to the Bose headphones, once he can.

Anyways, there was no click and collect stock near where I lived. So, I ordered one for delivery. Total bill amount was $184.19. Bought gift cards worth 180 (100+50+30) with 5% discount at PlusClub. So, paid $171 for the gift cards and paid $4.19. So, in total $174.19 including delivery for me. I hope they deliver.

  • Thanks OP got one!

I'm so confused, is this qc35 or qc45?

    • QC45 but with a soft case, hence the SC in the title

      • +4

It’s a newer model to the QC45, but only minor differences such as a small jump to battery life. This is the QuietComfort (2023) in a soft case where the QC45 SE are 45’s in a soft case.

The naming is pretty bad, really.

        • I definitely agree

  • +1

Just price-matched with Bose, and they sent me the Adyen payment link via email. I used Amex card to pay, the merchant name is Bose Ltd Pty, and it looks like the cashback is triggered. I’ll report back in a few days.

    • What else did you buy in the order?

    • +1

How is Amex cashback triggered if the amount you pay is below $200?

      • +2

I added the air something adapter for $9 and just received an email from Amex this morning: "You just used your Bose Amex Offer"

So the transaction definitely qualified for the offer.

        • you are TheMan! will do the same way
          price match (178 or 198)
          headphone plus adapter
          adyen payment
          pay with amex
          waiting for the email cashback

    • Says the purchase has to be via Bose online

      • I get the impression that Amex deals use the merchant information on the transaction to trigger the discount, so if the same merchant is being transacted with then it shouldn’t matter how the payment occurs.

Don’t hole me to that, but unlike cash rewards and shop back etc there’s no reliance on cookies, adblockers are never an issue or anything and transactions get flagged as redeemed very very quickly, which is why I believe they use their own data. I’ve had Amex cashback confirmed quicker than the store purchase confirmation on many occasions.

Also why they never seem to have any exclusions around combining offers or anything like that…because I don’t think Amex has visibility of that, only what was charged.

        • +4

I definitely won't be holeing you

          • @Jackson: Appreciated. Could have got messy.

        • my theory is bose online store using adyen as well as their backend. so you buy online or through the adyen email, they are the same (for amex anyway).

    • +1

You got the email from Amex saying the cash back is tracked?

I have the payment link in my emails but haven’t completed it yet, as I was concerned it wouldn’t track being a third party payment portal.

I added the $9 airline adapter to the order to get it over $200. Have the JB Hi-Fi order ready to collect so need to make a decision!

      • +1

im 100% thinking to do the same @ExtraGuac
too bad we dont have 90days return on jbhifi if yes just get both and decide later

      • +1

I used the 10% off special gift cards offer from Amex to purchase JB Hi-Fi gift cards, which brings it to $160

        • whats that amex offer? edit yeah i got it too

      • +1

Yes, just got the email this morning, it was delayed

    • +1

they are refusing to send me a link. How did you manage to get that?

      • What link are you referring to? They match the price and then send you a payment link to your email to complete the order.

        • +1

they refused to do that for me. they are telling me to buy at full price and then ask for refund

          • @KB57: That's strange—they matched the price for me and sent the Adyen payment link to my email last night. If that’s what they told you, then just buy it at the full price and request a refund later. Even better, it might stack with the 5% cashback from ShopBack.

            • +1

@T-man: the only problem is if they refund, it may forefeit the AMEX cashback.

"Good news! We can honor the price from JB Hi-Fi which is $198. To process the price match, you need to place an order on our website, and we will refund you the difference once you receive your order."

"I would love to help you with that. However, we can only refund you the diffrence."

From AMEX: "Credit may be reversed if your qualifying purchase is refunded or cancelled."

              • @KB57: Yeah curious about this

                • +1

@SoccerPianist: yep not taking risk. the adyen has been proven worked by Tman so thats the best way for now
                  @kb57

                  • @CyberMurning: Also states they refund via bank transfer, so Amex wouldn't even know about it would they?

                    • @killabob: What's your source for the bank transfer business?

                      • +2

@SoccerPianist: its there on the t and c of price matching. its actually says transfer only not bank transfer maybe he assumed bank.

                        • @CyberMurning: Great pick up! So no need to put through the $9 adaptor and could also get the 5% cashback

                        • @CyberMurning: Negative…definitely says bank transfer here

" Once the price match request is verified, we will either match the price or refund the difference to you via bank transfer."

                          • @killabob: ah.. okay but i wont risk it incase they refund to original ie amex

              • @KB57: They did the same to me, but I requested them to send me an Adyen Payment link and they did that. Just have to ask I guess..

                • @Fooyoo: I asked a couple of times but the agent wouldn't budge.
Ended up buying from JB. It was a bit risky buying full price from Bose and then asking for refund.

Already picked up from JB and they are decent!

                  • @KB57: Just press…i eventually got a phone number to ring. They arranged the Adyen after a few minutes.

  • Thanks OP. Price matched at $198 with Bose. Wanted the no quibble change of mind.

    • Should be 178

      • +1

They wouldn’t price match to 178 for me because it’s a “loyalty discount”

        • some posted here commented they got it matched at 178.20

        • +3

Same. I do wonder if anyone did score the $178. They gave me a reference, which they said I should use to request the refund when the product is delivered.

    • the bose change mind also incl free return shipping label, right?

      • Yep.

Experience Bose sound for 90 days (30 days for Aviation products and Bose Accessories) when purchased on Bose.com. If not 100% satisfied, Bose will cover return shipping. The item must be in its original, undamaged condition with all accessories included.

  • These are too heavy for me after owning Bose QC25's, any alternatives I should keep on my radar?

    • +1

      Aren't they 250grams?

      That too heavy?
      Airpods Max are 390gms nearly.

    • +1

      they are very light.

    • Bose QC25 = 204 grams
      Bose QCSC = 240 grams
I daresay you're going to notice 35grams on your head/neck.

  • Does ANC work without having to play music?

And is there aftermarket firmware to flash to Bluetooth 5.3 with aptx? That would be awesome

    • +1

You can have ANC on without playing music, dunno about the other thing

    • yes, just turn them on and play nothing. does ANC

I do that sometimes when I work

      • and if you want to check if the ANC is working (when turned on - it takes maybe 10 seconds to start up and check for Bluetooth audio connection)

you can just press the large button at the back of the left-hand earcup to toggle the ANC off and on again - and typically when I think 'is it working?' I'm suddenly horrified by the very loud noise as soon as I press that button to turn off the ANC

that said - lifting the earcups off seems to be 'not quite' as loud as the sound through the headphones with ANC off - so I'm not sure if the 'off' noise may be somehow slightly amplified through the active circuitry.

    In description you wrote

    Perks offer expires 11/12/2024

While this is "technically true" the offer doesn't expire until 11:59PM so it really ends on the 12/12. I thought I'd missed it :o

  • Got one! Thanks OP.

  • -1
  • This is Bose QuietComfort "SC" (Soft Case), not Bose QuietComfort.

    • same thing. I had mine since May (bought both SC and SE for $160 each, both came with the same soft case), and never even used the cases

      • -4

Bose QuietComfort has multipoint connection, AFAIK SC and SE can only connect to one device at a time.

        • As per the Bose website, the QuietComfort SC is literally the exact same as the QuietComfort, just with a soft case.

Also, the JB listing itself directly mentions multi-point toggle as a feature for the SC.

        • They're identical, only the case provided is different. This is the second generation of headphones Bose have provided this cheaper soft case option. Quietcomfort SE'S previously with the QC45's.

Multipoint has also been around in all Bose flagship headphones for so long - almost a decade they don't even list it as a feature on their website. Though it's noted in the FAQ.

  • How do these compare to xm4? Just broke my xm3 and was really happy with that product

    • ANC in my opinion is better on Bose. better but different. it certainly has better passive sound isolation to start with, compared to xm4

sound quality wise.. it's a draw. neither is stellar. but I prefer Bose even though Sony has higher quality codec support. even with Sony's advanced EQ I could never get sound I want out of xm4.

Bose sound quality is entertaining and pleasant, but certainly won't match my px7 s2e. so when I travel I grab Bose because they have way better ANC, and when I just walk around the city, it's px7 for me

      xm4 I returned

      • Agreed on ANC. Bose is better than MX4 and similar on MX5 after 15 hours long flight to LA and return.
comfy wise, Bose is little better than MX4 and much better than MX5.
sound quality. MX5 is better IMO. by watching movies from the plane. MX4 and Bose are very close but MX4 wins a little bit.
music, Bose is good on default, but after adjust EQ from the app, both are very close.
pop songs, MX4, better bass after adjusting EQ. Bass on Bose is a bit Flat IMO.

        Bluetooth connection, Sony is better.
on MX4, cover the one side of the headphone, you can hear the cabin sound and communicate which is bonus.
folding size is the same on MX4 and Bose

  • These headphones are great, and an amazing price. Grab them if you want over the ear headphones

    • i feel the clamp is too weak easy to slip off my head (yes not big head)

  • Purchased. Thanks OP. Have a pair already that the wife stole for her misophonia. Paired it with a Bluetooth transmitter on the plane and works well.

    • on the plane.
no air pressure discomfort feeling on ears while wearing on the plane?

      • +1

I usually use my airpods pro on overseas flights but got a pair of these from the sale back in May.
Will be flying out again this Friday so will be trying the bose and will report back.

      • Been using mine for ages and no isues. Previously had XM3 earbuds, the Bose are way more comfy.

        • damn maybe i need to replace my ears.

  • Thanks OP, great price. I realised I had a $50 GC lying around so felt even cheaper. Christmas present for my son sorted.

  • +1

Has ANC improved considerably since the QC35?

Wondering if this is worth upgrading to.

    • +1

ANC is better but not a huge jump.
USB-C port is worth the upgrade for me. No more micro USB cables in the house. One USB-C cable to charge all devices while travelling is great!

    • I'm still looking for a reason to upgrade as well.

    • I am in the same boat. I’ve got the QC35-2. Don’t think I will go for these because there is no real improvement except USB-C

      • QC45 and SC can use the Bose Music app EQ to adjust bass/mid/treble more to your liking - QC35ii does not have that - I like it for listening to podcasts as more treble makes speech more clearly audible in noisy environments, whereas more bass I find harder to distinguish the speech. YMMV.

  • +2

Thank you OP. Finally I got a good gift for myself this Christmas…

  • Just picked these up from JB. Upgrading from a Sony MDR-1000X; the case fits the Bose perfectly. Bloody good timing with this deal, as I have an interstate flight later today.

  • Bose didn't match the price - want me to make a purchase on their website @ $499.95 and submit a refund request later. (so they won't match the discounts on top of the listed jb hifi price)

    • Many people reporting in this thread that Bose has been retrospectively approving partial refunds to match the JB deal, even several weeks after purchase.

    • Did the same in the morning, the rep stated they would process refund of $351.95 after I receive the product. That will bring it down to $148! Hope they honour it.

      • -3

dexter not so genius, your math isnt right….

        • Yeah? Which part?

I have a screenshot of the chat with the agent, which states the price of $499.95. He said they will refund $351.95. Which would bring the price down to $148.

I suggest you go back to school and take on some Math classes before commenting on things you don't understand.
