Very marginally cheaper than Superloop, but only 6 months vs 12.

I'd personally stick with the Superloop deal.

  • Or dodo have 1 year plans for the same or near discounted 6 month price.

I was with Tangible then i left due to they got hacked and my details were leaked throughout. So i had to get new credit cards as someone was making purchases overseas. Which is bad considering comm bank has ownes some of it. So yeah stay away.

    • To me personally this is a very interesting scenario "as they got hacked" who actually got hacked?

Was this hack widespread or only your account?

I am genuinely interested in this matter.

Was your computer compromised? or was it 100% Tangerine?

      tks

Tangerine Telecom, a challenger retail service provider, says a “legacy” customer database containing details of 232,000 current and former customers was accessed by an unknown party via exploitation of a contractor’s credentials.

“Approximately, 232,000 current or former Tangerine customer accounts are impacted dating from June 2019 to July 2023,” the telco said in a statement, adding all impacted customers were quickly notified.

“The following personal information was disclosed: full name, date of birth, mobile number, email address, postal address and Tangerine account number.”

Yes thanks for this not sure why grog thought it was a interesting scenario you get hacked and details stollen who cares what it was from or who it was from. maybe a bit groggy from to much wine.

@dddeal: Because anytime someone else gets blamed for you getting hacked, it sounds like BS. Obviously, the extra details cleared all that up.

How do they determine if you're a new customer?

    • Your unique address?

I was with Tangerine telecom — read your T&C especially if you're a churner.

The T&C basically states, they'll charge you an entire month regardless of what date you churn.

    • Could you please ELI5 this for me?

If my billing date was the 1st of the month and I switched to a new ISP on the 2nd, I understand I would've been charged for that entire month already, despite only using it for 1 day.
But if I switched prior to my billing date (say a week or two, to allow a buffer), Tangerine would still bill me for the upcoming month, even if I had ceased using their services for a 7-14 days beforehand?
Is there no way to avoid, or at least minimise, this loss? Sounds a bit bullshit on their behalf to charge customers for a whole month of nothing.

I had a look through their TCs linked above for this deal, and their general NBN Policy, but either missed (or misunderstood) that bit.

I think most ISP require at least 1 month in advance disconnection notice.

  • This or stay with leaptel , pagans?

  • Superloop deal is blowing-up right now.
But current users get the shaft, so here I am.

100/40 for $69.90/M is nothing to sneeze at!

    • Me too. I signed up for Superloop 30 June 2024
I've been feeling network congestion during peak times more with Superloop than with iiNet though, so I'll be happy to try someone else this time around.

      • I've had all sorts of oddities, but mainly when they give free upgrades… only for the speed to sometimes be slower than my original speed. Who knows.

  • Why does it take 1-3 business days to get connected to Tangarine? Other ISPs do it within minutes or hours

  • Overseas call centre are a bunch of robots.

    • Local ones can be, too. Unfortunately, when we want the cheapest… that trickles down.
