I have never seen that. I got mine in 2019 for $3.3k delivered from Bing Lee eBay store using eBay discount codes. That's about as good a price as I've ever seen.

      • +1

3.3 k in 2019 is >4k in 2024 in real terms anyway. So this is 'cheaper'

      • I also got mine for $3.3k but last year, around Black Friday. I just walked into a Bing Lee and they had them going for a little bit more (possibly around this price or a little more?) but I asked if they could reduce it. Took a little negotiating. Might be worth going in-store and seeing what they can do for you. YMMV.

    • Price match with other shops

  • Dang that's expensive

  • +8

Purchased this fridge a year ago (for a bargain lol) and it is totally worth it. Narrow, tall, and largest capacity in this form factor. Just works and energy efficient.

    • When you say bargain, what does that equate to and was it new?
I try to only buy products whe it gets past it's ATL.

  • Can glass surface adhere magnetic? Otherwise no deal…

    • No

    • +3

The side is magnetic, and that’s what we use. I think the designer aimed for a clean, minimalist look on the front without fridge magnets

    • +1

We love the glass surface as we use whiteboard markers to write up stuff. also a fun activity for our toddler while we're cooking that's easy to clean

    • I prefer the glass front - Looks nicer.

If you really want to stick something, 3M Scotch restickable tabs are $6.78 for 18pcs.
There's also glu-tak for lighter stuff.

  • +4

Huh??? Why my fridge got posted here? I thought this is a secret that NO ONE should know it….

  • +5

Existing owner here for getting on to 10 years. Still have to stand next to it and really listen to hear it run.
Everything works well and its cheap to run. Glass front still looks like new.
Would now only ever buy a Mitsi fridge.
Thats a pretty decent price too.

    • +1

Busted arse $200 fridges last for 30 years mate, it's nothing impressive really.

The reason these things last "so long" is probably just because they have no features. It's literally just a fridge/freezer… What usually dies on the other brands is all the bells and whistles… In saying that, I'd never go back to the 90s myself and not have a fridge without plumbed cold water/ice, just too handy.

      • +1

That's interesting to know. I don't drink cold water and never need ice. I don't need and other "smarts" from the fridge either. I think I'll buy this one, but only if/when my 20 years old fridge packs up.

        • +1

Mine has a thingy that you fill from the tap that make ice. Does get used for 3 months of the year but i could easily do without.
I wouldnt be swapping out a working fridge either.👍

  • +2

Had it for 2 years, great fridge. Bought it without researching based in OzB sentiment.
Things I wish I had known:
it is deeper than our outgoing Shitsung so protrudes a little from our ikea kitchen
As Mentioned above: no magnetic front which frustrates wife as that is her prefiling system- had to get a white board for her to stick stuff on 😂
    Otherwise wonderful experience

    • An amazing fridge and agreed with the magnetic front. The side is magnetic but not the door.

      • The side is magnetic but not the door

Ah, how very thoughtful of them. 🤣

  • 110% very good!

  • +2

This is a good price, we got ours 2 years ago for $3800

  • I need to upgrade my 10 year old F&P. This Mitsubishi is a best fridge on the market, for a large young family I certainly couldn't give up my plumbed filtered water and ice on demand.
The new F&P looks the same as my old one.

    • I've heard Sub Zero fridges are the best

  • +1

Got mine earlier this year in the mahogany color and it looks bloody amazing in real life compared to the photos. Its designed to fit in the standard size single door fridge areas so if you have money to blow and are restricted by kitchen space (apartment living) then this is one of the best you can get

  • Since this is ozbargain I'll ask.

I have a 500L kogan fridge i paid 750 for, a 600L one is only 850. How is this one worth the extra money, I get people like nice things but I've always just figured a fridge is a fridge. Like sure extra drawers and shit, but is it worth almost $3k more.

    • +3

Well the thing is the fridge fits in small spaces - its doors are slim so if you are navigating small spaces or putting it next to a wall you do not need the clearance. Its 700l vs the 500-600l average size for these dimentions as its taller than your average fridge, and those fridges have bulky doors.

It's quiet, it's efficient, its built in ice maker just works. Has draws for fridge, and a separate drawer for veg in the bottom at a constant temp, so veg seems to last longer etc. It not a clone of an existing design, and perhaps that is represented in the cost.

      • +1

Yep I'll give you that, I can see the premium being worth it if space is of a concern. Honestly after writing that, comparing dimensions and looking at my fridge (work is quiet today haha) this would have been a much better fit space wise.

        • Yup, was with you when I moved into my new place - why would I spend that much! Then found out it was the best for my cramped fridge space, looking at the options, what's gonna hit the wall, can I pull out the drawers to clean etc - so it shifted the value proposition on its head due to volume.

  • @AppliancesOnline.com.au Please update the Ebay price so i can buy it there with my giftcards!

  • Greatest fridge of all time.

  • Second all the positive experiences, my parents have had the white glass option for ~10 years and still works and looks great. I aspire to be able to afford one myself one day…

Last I checked these were one of the few (only?) Japanese made models.

  • +2

I've had this fridge for 2.5 years - my favourite appliance ever.
I posted the deal at the time - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/698034

Only thing to look out for is that you might be able to purchase through appliances online ebay and utilise a discount, although I'm not sure if this is still an option.

  • I am looking to get the 450l one however they are priced differently even though it’s the same model? (different colour). This one is $1590,

    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/mitsubishi-elect…

Whereas this one different colour but $1738,

    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/mitsubishi-elect…

Am I missing something? also regarding the this fridge dimensions, my kitchen cabinet top clearance is180cm but this fridge is 179cm….. will that be an issue? (I have enough space on the sides though)

    • +1

stainless steel is normally more expensive, nothing strange

according to this, you should have at least 10cm above the fridge for ventilation, unless your kitchen cabinet doesnt sit flush against the wall and has space behind it

      https://www.mitsubishielectric.com.au/wp-content/uploads/202…

    • The two you have listed are the 3-door Thai built models. They do look really nice, but they don't have the thin walls and reputation of the Japanese models that the original poster linked.
The Thai ones are significantly cheaper, but i can't comment on their reliability or quality. The Japanese ones are awesome, I love mine.

  • +1

Easily the best fridge I've ever used. I have no idea how they fit 700L into this fridge. When you look at other 700L fridges, they're massive comparatively.

  • +2

Damn paid $4500 for this but honestly having a super nice fridge just makes you feel nice

  • +1

Why is OzBargain going nuts for a designer $3,700 fridge?

A paid around $900 for a similar-sized Samsung and it's going strong after 6 years. No ice-cube dispenser it includes a wine rack and is fridge-magnet compatible. It keeps food cold. Even if it dies tomorrow, I can buy 3 more before I've paid as much as the Mitsu.

    • +3

Scroll through the previous comments for your answer. The biggest selling point is that this will be a bigger volume than your Samsung fridge, but will occupy less space in your kitchen. It's also much quieter than other fridges.

      • Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd have assumed the overlap between people with large families, cramped kitchens (hence needing a large capacity fridge with a comparitvely small footprint) and in a position to drop nearly $4K on a fridge is pretty small.

        • You would think so but I'd say per capita, more people on OZB would have this fridge than the general Aust population.

    • It's worth it.

It keeps food fresher for longer and is very quiet.

      I can't justify a $150k car but happy to spend $4k on a fridge.

  • +2

Best fridge on the market. Love the glass front, we use whiteboard markers to draw on it as a pseudo whiteboard.

  • Dumb question perhaps, but why do you need 50mm clearance on the top when installing?

    • +6

      Heat dissipation is my guess

  • cost of a mortgage

    • maybe in Adelaide

      • Maybe in North Dakota….

  • My fridge cavity dimension is 1870 h, 800 w, 610 d. There is space at the top for air flow, but width is Exactly 800 as the fridge dimensions. Need a new fridge but scared it won't fit. Anyone had similar situation and made it fit?

    • +1

You’ll need at least 850mm I guessing as you need room for airflow and also room to push it in and out

    • +2

My kitchen space is exactly 800mm x 1820mm, and the previous owner had an MR-WX743C-W-A in there.
I found this poor quality photo https://i.ibb.co/d06kLTv/Capture.jpg

Or to be more exact 799mm at the bottom and 802mm at the top using a laser meter. I wouldn't have thought it would fit unless I knew an MR-WX743C-W-A was there before, which has the same dimensions.

Please NOTE: I only know the real estate agent said I could buy their MR-WX743C-W-A for $1400, I don't know 100% for sure that was the fridge, but it seems near certain it was.

  • Is it the largest fridge from Mitsubishi already? My kitchen can fit a fridge up to 930mm wide so there would be some large space left either side if I replace the current fridge with this one.

  • +1

We have one of the smaller capacity Mitsubishi fridges and Its an amazing fridge. Their design with the vegetable crisper drawer is fantastic! The glass finish also looks really sleek!

  • +9

I think you might be able to claim for a free mitsi purifier here as well if you buy between 22 Nov and 31 Jan ?

    https://www.mitsubishielectric.com.au/promotions/2024-fridge…

    • yes, thats right

    • thanks for sharing, just claimed

  • Argh just measured my overhead cabinet and its 180cm above the floor so i guess i cant fit this 182cm high fridge (unless the feet can be lowered or something?)

Wonder if it's worth trying to shave a few cm off the cabinet height

    • Hmm oh it needs 50cm above. Damn

      • 50mm, not 50cm, but yeah too high for you it sounds like.

    • +3

The cabinets over the top of fridges are usually screwed into the verticals either side of the fridge - you can remove them completely, or cut them down and reinstall them. I've done that in a number of places. Width limits are real, vertical limits are just a slight mod.

    • +1

My fridge space is 184cm high (measured with a measuring tape, so not the most accurate perhaps), and I pulled the trigger on getting this.

We also have plenty of width (98cm) and 67cm depth (current fridge sits out at 6cm from the edge of measured depth - not a big deal).

Will be delivered by end of week and let you know how it manages to fit and if I can lower further.

      • @isthisreallife22 Hey mate, arrived this morning and no way of lowering the fridge unfortunately. The couple of adjustable feet at the front allows for minor adjustment for levelling but nothing else. I had a couple of centimetres of clearance fortunately!

  • +2

Check out the MR-LX564ER-GSL-A if you like the features of this but it's a bit expensive. The capacity is smaller, basically leaving the two extra drawers but it's 10cm wider- same energy rating and still has the excellent ice dispenser. It's the 'poor persons' version. I got a 600L version (I think) about six years ago and seem just as happy with the features as those with the better multi-drawer fridge.

    • Been looking at the LX as i prefer vegetables drawer higher and not at bottom as WX.
Lx range built in Thailand but not sure if they use the same or similar inverter compressor technology and have low noise level as flagship WX.

      • +1

I love my old MR-LX630EM-GSL-A for the reason you described, layout. FWIW my spec sheet says 19db, I never notice it, but get in touch with Mitsu, they're both 4 star energy rated- no idea if it's the same compressor.

And size wise LX vs WX

        319 - 378 Fridge

        107 - 134 Vegetable

        138 - 118 Freezer + for LX 25 for ice & 45 super cooling drawer

So, capacity wise - the WX has about 50L in the fridge, 20L in the vegetable and a 45L cooling drawer more.

        • Thanks for the info. Not sure why they stopped selling LX 630 as i would not mind spending around 3k for similar litre capacity to WX.

Lx564 is currently 3k and wx700 on special around 3.6k. Makes more sense to go wx but my whole reason to upgrade was having low noise and vegetable drawer on higher level.

          • +1

@Rsg: Yeah, the old LX630 was 333 Fridge, 180 Freezer and 117 vegetable - so very close.

Subjective opinion, I just didn't like the drawers - I'd love WX700 tech, capacity and footprint in the LX layout.

            • @bxpressiv: Agree mate.. just came back from HN and saw the LX564. The rep didn't know much about mitsubishi fridges. Got the schematics of LX564 and year of production is 2021. Couldnt find the WX to compare it to. Will reach out directly to Mitsubishi to see how much difference is there in wx and lx technology.

Another one i was considering was FnP RF610ADX5 569lt but wasn't sold at HN. Not sure how FnP quality is compared to Mitsubishi LX.

  • +1

    AMEX users
Price match on eliteaplliances and get $250 back. Might pay delivery (not sure if that match that as well)

  • For anyone who's already got this fridge, how do you find the star efficiency rating on the fridge? I've found we can only get the 1 star on any warmer days, only hit 3 stars when we basically don't open it the whole day on cooler days. We don't have the correct clearance above (only 10-25mm) but it is clear above the very back. Just curious whether our clearance is making the difference or not getting 2 or 3 stars consistently is common

    • +1

The stars on the front of the fridge?
It does encourage you not to open the door too much.
It also depends on what you set all the modes/temperatures too.
e.g. the supercool drawer you can turn on/off if you don't have meat/fish in there.
same with the drawer if you set it to be a full on freezer or 1deg soft freeze/drink chiller.
you can also turn on energy saver as well, which is supposed to learn your usage of the fridge

      • When you say the supercool drawer can be turned off - would it end up being the same temp as the main fridge compartment? i.e if I wanted to use it for unfrozen meat packs like mince and chicken etc (in the plastic trays from the supermarket)?

  • Manufacturer Warranty: 5 Years
Warranty Note: 10 years parts warranty for the compressor

  • +1

Have had the previous version (MR-WX743C) for several years now and we love it. Heaps of room and the ice maker hasn't missed a beat.

    • I think it's the exact same fridge.

The change in model number MR-WX700C and capacity was due to the way they rate capacity rather than physical change to the fridge.

  • I've had my Mitsubishi 743 for over 5 years - still perfect.

    Features that matter to me:
    * the walls are "vacuum insulated panels" - not only are they super-thin they insulate better than a regular fridge
    * "soft-freeze", we set the multi-purpose draw to soft-freeze, this is great for bread, rather than going icy it is more snowy. Bread stays fresh but you can't tell it was frozen bread when toasted.
    * power-usage, about 60 watts, about half the time (as measured).
    * almost silent

  • -1

How do people genuinely afford this? Absolutely baffling to me. A fridge can be purchased for $300-500

    • Show me a fridge/freeze that's 500 or less

      • I bought a fridge off the same website off an OZB deal for $200 in 2021.

        • So care to list the model of fridge that U got for 200?

          • -1

            @BlitzR: Euromaid 269L Top Mount Fridge ETM269W

            • +4

@oaks101: What is this… a fridge for ants?

            • +1

@oaks101: Hahaha you are comparing a 248L to a 700L fridge. That's like wondering why a Hyundai Santa Fe costs more then a i20. Nice try but.

              • @BlitzR: I could have bought 3x of the fridges for $600 for the same capacity. Seems like a rip for something that won’t last 20 years.

    • By using the savings on OZB to afford more expensive items.

$300 fridge is chalk and cheese.

But I'm glad you're happy with your $200 fridge. Bargain.

  • Ooo, multi drawer.

  • Best fridge I've ever owned, replaced by Liebherr only because it came built in, but Mitsubishi was better in every way.

  • Lots of comments about how this is good for maximising volume in a small kitchen space. What's a comparable but more affordable alternative if space isn't an issue? I have 1000mm wide x 1840mm high space to work with.

    • Not sure what depth you're working with but their site is great for navigating based on dimensions. Here you go - I've set the filter to something that would comfortably with your space without leaving unsightly gap, and with 630L + capacity. Plenty to pick from at different price points

      https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/filter/refrigeration/fri…

Just have a look across what's on this page for high capacity low cost and well rated.

  • A mate has asked if he buys it for his wife for Chrisrmas…is it safe to get her name engraved on the front of it, cursive style?

    • +1

The women I know would be so pissed… Tell your mate that the fridge is for the household, not for his wife. So engraving the name is probably not safe for the marriage…
