    make your lady happy

sounds like an advertising tagline from the 1950s

  • +15

I have this fridge- it makes me happy every single day. Sounds ridiculous, but it's true.

It has marvellous internal capacity considering its modest external dimensions. If you are constrained by a smaller fridge space but need a big fridge, don't waste days touring around looking at fridges- this one is the best IMO and this price is very good.

Bonus for us is it's not plumbed, but has an auto ice drawer. I love it.

    • +10

for this price, I will go to the poles, get you ice, row it back to your house, and even cube it.

    • +3

My wife and I saw a similar fridge from Mitsubishi at a store and it made me happy just having a look and opening the doors and drawers and trying out the features and imagining what it would be like to own it. I think I was happier than my lady was. Then I went home to my regular fridge and got sad because I now know what I'm missing out on.

      • I feel you…I wanted a Mitsubishi fridge more than my lady did!

    • How can it make ice without being plumbed?

      • +1

It would likely have a water tank inside. I have a non-plumbed LG fridge and it typically needs refilling every 3 days in my household.

        • How is that better than plumbed?

          • +6

@Phesto: Well, if you're renting, or don't have the funds to get a plumber to install a tap behind your fridge, it's way better than plumbed (because you'll get ice without needing a tap).

          • +1

@Phesto: Easier to clean, less chance of having mildewy tasting ice

          • +2

@Phesto: You can refill with filtered water using bargain Brita Maxtra filters.

          • @Phesto: Reliability, ease of install, easier to keep clean. I have a different Mitsubishi with an ice drawer that works the same way, it's great

      • +1

It has a water tank that can be filled manually.

    • +2

We also have this fridge+freezer and the only thing we wish was that the vegetable drawer and the freezer drawer locations were swapped.

And we had to remove one shelf to make it work for us.

The ice maker is the most used function..

Had to modify the kitchen cabinetry as it’s tall!

      It’s also amazingly quiet.

This is a great price compared to what we paid for it 6 months ago..

  • Great price on the 470L as well ($2957)

Mitsubishi Electric 470L Multi Drawer Fridge MR-WX470F-S-A

    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/mitsubishi-elect…

    • The white one is a little cheaper too. I've had my 470l for a couple of years now and love it. I use the ice multiple times a day.

  • +3

Have this fridge and it's awesome. The dimensions are quite smaller than expected due to the different walling this uses - so you'll have more capacity for less room on this one.

    Pretty pricey for sure though.

The auto ice thing is nice enough, had a plumbed connection previously and don't really miss it.

Took a bit to get used to the tray arrangement, frozen stuff is in one of the bottom drawers instead of a side - it also means the freezer is less capacity than you would expect, so be careful that bit is big enough.

    • Yep, that was our main disappointment - freezer space. Also, the menu system and manual are pretty hard to figure out.

      • Not really sure how much there is to figure out.

Once you work out the set points we’ve never needed to touch the manual again..

    • Hi just to confirm it cannot be plumbed?

      • No, it cannot be plumbed, but the ice maker’s jug is really big. We never run out of ice and only have to refill it about once a month.

  • my mitsubishi fridge is 15 years old and still going strong.

If you want to make your lady happy, maybe buy her a Hitachi instead of a Mitsubishi.

    • +2

we checked both side by side in store

Hitachi was great but the Mit is in another level of fit and finish…. the front glass was more resistant to fingerprints as well

      • +8

In store testing of the hitachi? May have to check it out

      • +2

I think you might find Hitachi is also famous for making other electronics that might make your lady happy ;)

    • +6

      Whoosh

  • +1

Wow very expensive. What .ake this mitsubishi more expensier than similar size lg or samsung or electrolux fridges. Must be something unique in this fridge.

    • +7

made in Japan for starters, very robust but I never had an expensive LG / Samsung to compare…

it is simple tho, no screens nor any fancy tech, seems like all budget went into building a fridge you can pass on when you die

      • +1

You’re also paying a premium not just for the build quality but the advanced features.

        And the 10y warranty.

With that said, while this fridge is expensive it’s nowhere close to the “high end” of the built in fridge prices..

      • Not all I reckon some are made in Thailand

        My one is LX564

    • +5

the dimension. just 800mm in width means it fits into most fridge spaces designed for single door fridge. It's 200L more volume than other similar sized fridge.

    • Your paying for better design and tech - its slimmer and fits in smaller spaces well yet it is very energy efficient. The other brands have very thick drawers etc - however this model is very slimline. Also, made in Japan.

finally here! make your lady happy

we got our Lemair 260L fridge (brand new) delivered for $100 or so, 6.5 years ago. she is still very happy with that. but she will be very happy to keep this amount of money in the offset account. ;)

    • +3

I bought this after renovating my kitchen. You get the biggest bang for your buck in terms of external to internal volume. So you get a lot of fridge space but it takes relatively small amount of space in your kitchen. I designed my kitchen to fit the fridge and space is at a premium. My new kitchen cost me $20k, so $3.5k is relatively small beans.

  • +2

Does it have a filtered water dispenser model?

    • Yeah this fridge plumbed in with a water dispenser would be great.

      • Yup. I use mine everyday, so keen on getting a replacement sincey LG fridge is on the 11yr mark.

    • Nope.

It’s not designed to be plumbed in. And that’s a big feature that it doesn’t need to be.

You’d need to have a water jug in the door like we do..

  • I have this fridge for about 10 years and it's been great. But now it's constantly leaking water at the bottom draw

    • Have you contacted the company and if so what is their response?

      • I have not contacted as I assume I no longer have warranty

        • might be an easy / common / cheap fix

        • +1

Australian consumer law would apply. Also companies selling premium products such as this tend to be very helpful rectifying product defects.

        • no harm in asking anyway

  • One of the best fridges money can buy.

  • +1

I've had the 500+ litre version for 11 years. It's very versatile. The ice drawer works well. The veg compartment is really good as it's not quite as cold as the fridge, so nothing will freeze as you get with normal fridges that stupidly put the veg drawer at the bottom of the fridge part - the coldest part.

Although you can't fit a lot of big bottles upright in the fridge you can put them in the lowest compartment. Doors will take a 3 litre milk.

  • Its either one of these or a Hitachi. For this money, you cant go wrong.

    • We also compared this to the Hitachi model and the Mitsubishi came out ahead..

      • What made the Mitsubishi better?

        • I can tell you why I didn't pick the Mitsi -

          • at the time, the Hitatchi was better value, with a sale on at Bing Lee and a price match at HN (relevant in SA).
          • Hitatchi comes in a better choice of colours, especially if black or mirror black is something you want
          • personally, I didn't like the drawer depth and door openings on the Mitsi. This may not bother others. It's just down to how you use your fridge in your kitchen and how you personally want to lift and access goods.

I was looking at this Mitsi (and honestly, this is an awesome price)

          https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/mitsubishi-elect…

          The one I got:

          https://www.harveynorman.com.au/hitachi-735l-black-glass-fin…

Note - I got the above Hitachi for $3200 minus $1200 on GCs - I was happy :D

  • To make ma lady happy really costly

  • Waiting for this to be sub $3k after using giftcards and possible cashback in the future

    • I have never seen that. I got mine in 2019 for $3.3k delivered from Bing Lee eBay store using eBay discount codes. That's about as good a price as I've ever seen.

      • 3.3 k in 2019 is >4k in 2024 in real terms anyway. So this is 'cheaper'

    • Price match with other shops

  • Dang that's expensive

  • +2

Purchased this fridge a year ago (for a bargain lol) and it is totally worth it. Narrow, tall, and largest capacity in this form factor. Just works and energy efficient.

    • When you say bargain, what does that equate to and was it new?
I try to only buy products whe it gets past it's ATL.

  • Can glass surface adhere magnetic? Otherwise no deal…

    • No

    • The side is magnetic, and that’s what we use. I think the designer aimed for a clean, minimalist look on the front without fridge magnets

  • Huh??? Why my fridge got posted here? I thought this is a secret that NO ONE should know it….

  • +1

Existing owner here for getting on to 10 years. Still have to stand next to it and really listen to hear it run.
Everything works well and its cheap to run. Glass front still looks like new.
Would now only ever buy a Mitsi fridge.
Thats a pretty decent price too.

    • Busted arse $200 fridges last for 30 years mate, it's nothing impressive really.

The reason these things last "so long" is probably just because they have no features. It's literally just a fridge/freezer… What usually dies on the other brands is all the bells and whistles… In saying that, I'd never go back to the 90s myself and not have a fridge without plumbed cold water/ice, just too handy.

  • +1

Had it for 2 years, great fridge. Bought it without researching based in OzB sentiment.
Things I wish I had known:
it is deeper than our outgoing Shitsung so protrudes a little from our ikea kitchen
As Mentioned above: no magnetic front which frustrates wife as that is her prefiling system- had to get a white board for her to stick stuff on 😂
    Otherwise wonderful experience

    • An amazing fridge and agreed with the magnetic front. The side is magnetic but not the door.

  • 110% very good!

  • +1

This is a good price, we got ours 2 years ago for $3800

  • I need to upgrade my 10 year old F&P. This Mitsubishi is a best fridge on the market, for a large young family I certainly couldn't give up my plumbed filtered water and ice on demand.
The new F&P looks the same as my old one.

    • I've heard Sub Zero fridges are the best

  • Got mine earlier this year in the mahogany color and it looks bloody amazing in real life compared to the photos. Its designed to fit in the standard size single door fridge areas so if you have money to blow and are restricted by kitchen space (apartment living) then this is one of the best you can get

  • Since this is ozbargain I'll ask.

I have a 500L kogan fridge i paid 750 for, a 600L one is only 850. How is this one worth the extra money, I get people like nice things but I've always just figured a fridge is a fridge. Like sure extra drawers and shit, but is it worth almost $3k more.

  • @AppliancesOnline.com.au Please update the Ebay price so i can buy it there with my giftcards!

  • Greatest fridge of all time.
