Mitsubishi 700L Fridge - MR-WX700C-W-A - $3,735 Delivered @ Appliances Online

1520

Overview

Just purchased one of these for $3,735. I believe Mitsubishi is one of the more reliable fridge manufacturers out there with fridges made in Japan.
Most retailers are advertising this fridge for near $5k eg:

  • Harvey Norman: $4,899
  • Bing Lee: $4,999

I believe that there may be a newer series around the corner.
Worth noting that this price is only for the white. Silver is coming up at $4,361.

Description

The 700 litre usable capacity multi-drawer fridge is family sized, featuring striking good looks with toughened glass front panels, presenting a luxurious finish. Packed with advanced features such as a Supercool Freezing Drawer capable of supercool freezing and hot freezing, supercool chilling case, vegetable and freezer drawers, and non-plumbed automatic ice maker. Available in Diamond White, Argent Silver and Dark Mahogany.

Got one of this few months ago… Super happy with the fridge. can't go wrong with it. They think through the space, layout and usage of each compartments

I used eBay though, and got around $3530

    • By far the best fridge I’ve ever owned. So good, that first my brother, and then Mum, also bought one. It’s brilliant in every way.

    • $100? Second hand?

      • yeh, only 1 month old but

        • I've had my Mitsubishi that looks like this since early 2014 and it hasn't skipped a beat. Let me know how you're going with your Hisense and your power bills in 2030

          • +1

@King Steuart: Yes, I've had my 500+ litre since 2013 and they're a totally different league machine to a standard fridge. I paid $3200+ the which was a huge amount for a fridge, but don't regret it at all. Just a couple of minor things on the older models that they've changed since like plastic where now they have glass shelves.

    • Link to gerry's website is a big no no on ozb!

    • Does your fridge make a high pitched whine like my terrible Hisense fridge?

      • -1

        No?

        • +1

          Lucky

  • +16

5* for this, 2 times under water by flood and still going well……

  • +9

Super built Fridge and so.much undermarketed ..I would not have known till I saw one in my friend place

    • Username checksout

I still maintain that Made in Japan products are the best. I've wasted enough money on German junk, never again.

      • +1

My Aus made F&P still going strong after 14 years and being removalist moved from Brisbane to Melbourne. Could probably use a new seal though.

        • Ah yes, my workplace has some 90's era F&P fridges, still chugging along.

        • yep - the fridges made in Orange NSW - several brands including Westinghouse, Simpson, Electrolux I think - were legendary for long life

my last Westinghouse was still working fine after 29 years - but when I measured the power consumption cost at like $400pa I figured it was time to move to a more efficient inverter Panasonic - now nine yo and fine

      • +2

Like Lexus, reliability is second to none when it has the Made
        in Japan stamp.

        • +1

I have 2008 lexus .. build quality is better than any other newer euro car i have driven or bought.

          Amazing precision and quality

        • I tested an ES300h Sport Luxury last year - beautiful car. I would have bought one on the spot if not for the 8 month wait.

          • +1

@Dogsrule: dayum - I was so tempted by a 2005 ES300 - it was so quiet it was like a dream - I thought I had died and gone to heaven and was wafting on a cloud

except the suspension was a bit crashy at 190000km and I read the air suspension could cost $8000 to replace

still dreaming tho' - for a big car I'd want a reversing camera for my narrow carspace, and I think I saw only LS430 or something came with that in the mid-2000 models ?

            • @Hangryuman: Pretty much my thoughts as well. So quiet, well built, no rattles or squeaks, high quality interior materials etc.

The suspension was properly luxurious as well, I think it had regular steel springs but was very comfortable.

I'm not sure when reversing cameras came in the older models, but I have been in an older LS430. One word - wow.

        • Cars in general nowadays are pretty reliable. My Nissan is made in the UK and is faultless.

    • lol The East Pirates

  • What do you put in that little split door drawer, and are the bottom two drawers a freezer?

    • +2

      bottom drawer is Fruit/Vegies
      second from bottom is Freezer
left above freezer is ice draw. you just fill up water and it makes ice for you.
right from freezer can be set to what you want. freeze or soft freeze.

we've had the older wx743 model for 5 years now. paid $3800 back then with free delivery, installation, surge protector. best investment ever!!
      no issues at all.
fits so much in this fridge compared to our older Samsung Fridge which was similar dimensions.

      highly recommend it!

      • Does it take a tap or you gotta pour in water?

        • -3

It would have to dispense beer non stop for 3700bux free unlimited beer.

        • You can plumb it in if you like, or just fill the reservoir.

    • +2

The little door on the left is for ice, to the right of that is a variable temperature freezer drawer. Underneath that is the freezer drawer and at the very bottom is the vegetable drawer. I have this fridge and it is the best decision I’ve ever made. Only gripe is the 10 egg, egg holder. Must be a Japanese thing.

      • +5

What? You don’t crack open two eggs as soon as you get home from the shops? :p

      • You can also use the ice drawer as another freezer.

I think of the bottom drawer as a cool pantry.

      • Odd. We've got the WX743 same as tmntz2018 and it came with a 12-egg holder.

    • The left sides is the ice maker, the right side I use as soft freeze (keeps food good for ages without fully freezing). Can make this full freeze though if you want.

Bottom drawer is crisper, middle drawer all freezer.

    • +4

Its a fridge not a TV doesnt matter if its 4K or 1080p

      • +2

        HAHA good one

      • In my day fridges were only SD, and a CRT no less!

    • Your opinions about computer parts are valuable, but you seem to have difficulties choosing fridges, and underwear

      :)

      • hey stalker all is well i have found good undies since then (h&m)

        • Don't worry. I don't know anything else about you… Glad to hear that you found better undies though…

          • @this is us: aw you're missing out on a lot of poorly fitting shoes then

    • $4k is nothing compared to sub zero fridge prices

  • +3

I have the MR-WX743 model (743L) which I paid $3300 12 mths ago. Fantastic Fridge. My favourite is the ice maker drawer which doesn't need plumbing and it runs so quiet. The WX series is the only fridge in Oz that comes with 5yrs warranty.

    • +3
      • hitachi and mitsubishi fridges are pretty much the same. Like a toyota 86 vs subaru brz.

        • +7

Mitsubishi fridges don't have Hitachi's vacuum drawer.

          • +2

@aleayr: That's right, and the top of the range Made in Japan Hitachi has touch-operated automatic doors in addition to the auto drawers. I use both brands and they're equally good but a little different here and there. A very gentle nudge would close the doors with the Mitsubishi while it takes a slightly harder push for the Hitachi.

            • @ass3ts: Looked at the Hitachi one ourselves. Christ it is expensive.

Kids loved playing with the doors but, which may have impacted our decision lol.

      • +1

Thx for the correction. I forgot about the Hitachi fridge which is also Japan Made.

    • We have the MR-WX743 too. Amazing fridge, incredibly space efficient. Replaced another still-working Mitsubishi fridge that had lasted 15 years without missing a beat - only problem was that it was too small for our growing family so maxed out on the MR-WX743 and couldn't be happier.

    • @pork chop - These are great fridges. But Electrolux also let you extend the warranty on their products to 5 years.

    • They have 5years on the fridge but 10years on the compressor. We bought one and because it was also 'Made in Japan' and the warranty length was enough to convince us.

    • Beko (Turkey) also does 5 year warranty on everything including fridges.

Also, 10 years on compressor is standard across every brand I've seen.

  • +2

I'd kill someone if this stuff fails, ever.

    • +21

At least you'll have a use for the freezer after

      • +1
      • +1

A compartment for each body part (those Japanese think of everything).

      • Not if it fails!

  • +3

I have a similar version, the 743L one… It's a awesome fridge, would get it again.

    • +2

I think it's the same fridge.

The rules changed about fridge capacity advertising, and now it's a "usable space" measurement that is more strict.

      • Yes I have also been told that when I tried to buy it.

    • Yeah stop bragging about your 743L fridge :)

  • +1

I have a different Mitsu (710L model which now appears to be discontinued) but can attest to it being reliable, quiet and well-built.

  • Yea got a used fridge for free on Facebook 10 years ago, still works and has an ice maker too.

    • +2

      Link to deal?

    • +2

still smells like ice too, i bet

      • Yea, the ice maker smells like ice

        • +3

i ain't talking about that kind of ice…

  • Best fridge I have ever owned

  • +6

    MADE IN JAPAN.

  • +2

I have the smaller 574L version and it was the best splurge decision I took. Absolutely love using it. It’s a great machine.

  • +7

Buys fridge for $3,735 still buys uber eats. OZB life.

    • Maybe they bought that with their wallet balance
      on CashRewards or Shopback :-)

  • +9

To note that the older 743l and this 700l model is the exact same fridge. There is a new ruling that fridge manufacturers are required to list down the usable space, not including the unreachable nook and crannies hence the shrinkage of 43l.

We've got ours at HN by price matching with eBay, comes out a bit less than $3500

    • I always backwards read and lol I got it spot on the money lol…

    • This is weird.
      I have WX743 and the spec says "743L gross / 576L net".
So new model should be MR-WX576 :))

      • These have plenty of room compared to much chunkier fridges. Vacuum insulated panels. None of the bulky foam junk.

        I would buy again - but I don't need to - it ain't failing.

  • +1

Really wish Jb/TGG would stock Mitsubishi fridges

    • Besides appliances online, Harvey and E & S also stock this fridge when we were shopping for the best price.

  • +5

At this price I want one that can at least dispense water and ice on-demand!

    • No thanks! So many floods from crummy fridge water connections.

  • +2

Wow!! Didn't know you can still buy Japanese made white goods.

I know they manufacture for domestic market, but had no idea they export. Surely a 700L fridge is not for Japanese market, it's specifically manufactured to export.

Then again country of origin can be deceiving, sometimes.

Good thing buying from Appliances Online is free delivery, they also remove packaging and old Fridge if no longer required. Other stores typically charge $70 to $80 for that.

    • However they don't price match anymore, and from what I've noticed they usually charge more than other retailers for the same product to provide the services you mentioned.

    • +2

Only the multi draw from Mitsubishi is made in japan.
The other fridges from Mitsubishi like the french door ones are all made in Thailand or elsewhere.

    • +2

      Yes they are called Camrys

    • In Japan, also have 700L one, MR-WX70C, 2017.
And new version is MR-WXD70G, 2021, with AI function.

  • Got the MR-WX500C 500L model for $2700 15 months ago. The best slim/narrow fridge ever seen.

    • +1

Oh my god I paid $3500 and was happy with that price. Great job. This fridge is amazing and legitimately the only premium fridge that fit in my apartment fridge cavity.

  • +1

This was sold at Harvey Norman in recent past for as low as $3200 but think the sales guy got in trouble but I’d say you can maybe barter down to $3500 I’d say

  • +3

Mitsubishi fridges are absolutely phenomenal - I would recommend over any other manufacturer I reckon.

    • +2

I have an unhealthy amount of affection for my Mitsi multi-drawer fridge.

  • +1

Anyone knows of a biggest fridge in 700+L that just has top/bottom design without water/ice etc? 5 person family and need the real space, not some gimmicky compartments

    • You can I believe turn off the ice draw to be used as a freezer compartment. Additionally the little water tray can also come out so more fridge space.

      • +1

I would rather like to convert the fresh fruit compartment into freezer =)

  • +1

Had a similar Mitsubishi 574L (MR-EX574X-N-A). Amazing fridge! Much better than the built-in Liebherr that I have… :(

    • +1

      Lolz. Cool flex…….

But, yeah I've got this fridge and it's great
