  • yeah I went back and got another $500, $3K all up.. im going to use it for apple products

  • Bought another 1k today. But my Citi cc went through today as I turned the wifi off—- why? Router security block this???

  • still working… 5k all up, great run better than the coles visa card deal, at least something we can buy and not out of stock

    • You can do more than 2.5k a day, it seems - multiple people have bought 10k+

  • They'd be making millions at this point

    • +1

Yep they assume more than 15-25% of purchasers would forget to claim those funds or claim funds and not use them/close Amazon account etc.
      That's how they make $$

      • +1

Is that a factor? I thought it would just be instant cashflow for no product that makes gift cards worthwhile for these companies. This gift card site would have millions more sitting in the bank due to this promotion.

        • I am sure they have to pass on most of that money to amazon pretty quick.

      • +2

I'm thinking it will lock/coerce buyers into purchasing items from Amazon during black friday sales instead of a competitor who may be offering similar or even lower sales pricing on a particular item.

      • That is a big percentage of dumb people don't you think?

  • +3

Still working as 11:50. Bought $1k yesterday but on second thought just grabbed another $1k.

  • +1

What do I buy next Friday on actual black Friday? I did all my purchases already !!!

  • +5

Call from AMEX fraud protection team - asked if I attempted a transaction for "Coles" last night.
I had a whinge and told them there's no point calling 12 hours later after the OTP is sent + verified + AMEX decided to block the transaction anyway!

  • No issues still using my St George credit card. Just grabbed $500 worth

  • +1

Deal still on. However needed to use the "turn wifi off" method on mobile with chrome browser. Tried firefox and chrome on PC and firefox on mobile with wifi off and was stuck on payment loading screen. Got $2500 worth with Amex Explorer.

  • Grabbed $1100 worth gift cards using 28 Degrees. Order went thought without any problems using Chrome on my mobile via WiFi. I did get asked for the verification code thought.

  • Coles will report $10m of gift card sales in 2 days

    • If it's 15% off probably even more like Blackhawk gift cards online those were incredible

  • Does this affect how Cashrewards would work if we utilise the GC for purchasing?

      • +6

You cannot stack Cashback with Amazon credit. You are dreaming wanting to stack that

This isn't credit. These are gift cards. There is a distinct differences between the two.

Using gift card balances does not invalidate cashback as long as the item is in an eligible category for cashback, and you don't use promo credit/codes.

Every single purchase I make on Amazon, I use gift cards and am successful in being paid out cashback.

        • +1

Thanks for clarifying that yesterday, I thought also that credit and gift cards were the same and can confirm that cashback worked.

        • Just checked, I had past orders declined with cashrewards due to using gift cards.Did they change the rule recently?

          • +1

@drspy00: I know shopback changed it few months ago to exclude GC purchases, not surprising CR is doing the same since the rules are set by the vendor

            • @ironworthy: Must be why I had it set in my mind they can't be used.

              • @drspy00: Gift card purchases on Amazon have never been eligible to receive cashback.

Your cashback likely was declined for any of the below reasons for your item purchases

                • buying from a 0% cashback category
                • refunds/returns
                • having applied Amazon Promo Credit to your purchase (whether partially or in full)
                • @Lucille Bluth: It was not a gift card purchase, it shows it was declined in June for using gift card. Maybe a clause back then, I dont know.

                • @Lucille Bluth: Wrong, Amazon Promo Credit is different.

                  • @Jessie Ryder: Huh? I said they are different?

Read my comments again. I never said they are the same.

Promotional credit balance isn't the same as gift card balance. Using promo credit will invalidate cashback.

        • man! i ripped myself off 25 bux on that kindle! spewing! would have come down to like 175 for the signature with all the discounts.

    • +5

No. You can use your balance to pay for items that receive cashback.

  • Whats the risk of hoarding amazon gc balance in the account?
I heard some ppl accounts got locked out somehow then lose all the balance?

    • +3

Dont. As it doesnt expire, load up as needed.

      • As long as the gift card provider itself doesnt go bust or hacked right..

        • +3

Well the GC is Amazon’s GC? So if Amazon go bust then your point is moot lol

          • @noelhoi: I mean giftcards.com.au

            • +1

@OzFrugie: These digital gift cards are delivered via a third-party site called vcdelivery. You receive a link in the following format: https://www.vcdelivery.com/vcert/GUID, where the GUID is a 32-character alphanumeric string (at least that is what I got). There is no additional authentication, so if someone gets hold of your link, they can claim your code. I’m not sure what kind of security measures vcdelivery has in place, how those GUIDs are generated or how reliable that site is, But Amazon is a much more secure platform (as long as you have good security measures in place including 2FA). After all, thousands of big corporations use AWS, so I feel more comfortable picking Amazon over coles, giftcards.com.au, vcdelivery or whoever else is behind this operation. Which is why I claimed all my cards immediately upon receiving them. BTW, giftcards.com.au has some pretty bad reviews from people claiming to have received already redeemed codes ( I don’t know if they were sent redeemed codes, or someone else got hold of the codes after they were sent out), in any case I didn’t want to find out .

              • @opt: That's why I recommend redeeming straight away.

I've certainly heard more about stolen gift cards and fraud than Amazon randomly closing accounts for no reason and invalidating gift cards.

Unless the Amazon account is stolen…

                • @this is us: Do you know what caused amazon closed ppl account and/or invalidate their gift card balance?

                  • @OzFrugie: No, only read anecdotal reports.

                  • @OzFrugie: People who return lots of items to Amazon for refunds are definitively high on their list of accounts to close

    • None really. There's a limit how much you can put into your account, that's it

      • +2

Mine is over $5K. I don't think there is a limit to how high your balance can be. Did you hear otherwise?

        • Wow. I thought there was.

In any case I should still be technically correct. There must a limit even if it's something silly like 32 bit unsigned integer.

    • +4

I am a tiny bit concerned about losing my account with a lot of GC balance so I've only loaded some of the gift cards I purchased. I don't know if it's the best way to go about it though.

      • +3

Don't place the giftcards on your account unless you need to use. This way your cards are free to use on any account or could even be passed on as a gift to somebody else.
The plus side of adding them to your account would be that there is no risk of them been stolen, lost or forgotten about as they are now converted and held on your account as credit.

        • I think gift cards are much safer linked to your Amazon account than sitting in an email with a link that can potentially be "discovered" through brute force or something similar.

          https://www.vcdelivery.com/vcert/***

It's a good mix of numbers and letters but these companies don't seem to be very smart. There is no pin or anything so the links can be exploited.

    • Good question, but also thinking this would be a financial ombudsman issue.

    • use it less than a year, otherwise put money in the bank also close to 5% (before tax)

      • +3

$90 gets you $100 Amazon credit
$90 in a bank, with 5% interest, compounded daily, less tax.

You would still be ahead with Amazon credit even after 2 yrs.

  • I purchased mine yesterday evening but hadn't received an email yet. I called the support line and said I should get it this afternoon ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    • +1

I got the email in 5 minutes of payment.

    • You probably did this already, but just in case you hadn't, try checking your junk mail because mine were sent straight to my junk mail within minutes of payment.

    • This is bank-dependent. I've paid using Commbank and it took 15 minutes to come through. I then switched to Wise and it only took a minute. Also with Commbank I could only do 100x1 gift cards at a time. With Wise, I could do 500x5 gift cards.

  • My transaction failed across 3 different cards so I gave up for a bit, then went back and tried my CBA visa again after slightly changing my address (phone had pre-filled suburb into city) and then it worked. So I’m not sure if it’s a load / limit of sales per time period kind of thing and I lucked out or if the address change actually did something! YMMV

    Good luck everyone!

(Edit) oh I should mention card arrived via email within 15 mins 👍🏼

  • +1

So we are now effectively lending money to Coles at 10%.

    • +1

Put it straight into your Amazon wallet and lend it to Bezos at 10% if you prefer.

    • +1

No,only if you use it in a short time, otherwise normal home loan or any loan will easy beat 10% after a year

  • +2

I did 500yday and another 1800 this morning…. Appears still working as of coupla hours ago.

  • stuck on loading payment options :(

    • +1

Disable all ad-blockers and tracker-blocking extensions/options in your browser.

  • +3

Call from Citi fraud protection. This deal is having red flags go off for all banks. Good they're on the ball though.

    • The Power of ozbargain strikes again

    • Mine worked fine twice with ANZ credit card

      • Funnily enough, it wasn't the one they approved they phoned about, it was the second transaction that bounced which they asked about.

  • -1

    Still working?

    • yeah

  • +1

worked 14 minutes ago for me.

  • +5

Finally got it to work. Private browsing tab on iPad with Westpac debit card. Woohoo!

  • +1

Still working, had to use the Chrome browser to make payment

  • Had to use the phone to purchase.

Everything I tried on the laptop failed.

  • +1

works fine for me, takes about 10mins to arrive in your email after purchase

  • Citi CC worked 5x500, got email in 5 minutes.

  • -2

Not working with Amex for me

  • +1

Hello still a noob with the gc game. Can this be used when buying the new iphone 16 pro 265gb through Amazon? Just want to be sure before buying 2k worth of gift cards that I didn't miss any detail or loopholes.

    • +6

yes, buy the value you want.. say $2,500 in gift cards, you only pay $2,250 (so 10% off).. apply the gift cards to your Amazon account.. so 5 gift cards at $500 each. At checkout you will have an available balance of $2,500 to pay for the phone.

I just did this for an Apple product.

      • +2

Thank you so much mate! Really appreciate your time and effort to explain cheers. Just checked out now.

  • still having issues with payment not going through. tried 3 browsers on iOS and 3 on PC with tracking and add blocker off. Used CBA debit and CC still unsuccessful.

    • +1

try buying 1 x $100 per order. it should work.

      • +1

Can confirm, only way I could get Commbank MC to work was individual orders of single $100 GC.

If I did this then I got to the input Netcode window after submitting the credit card transaction, then payment went through.

Any other value GC or more than one GC per transaction and got the "transaction failed" message each time.

        • Mobile phone data only, turn off wifi

  • Ok, turned off Malwarebytes (addblocker etc) before starting. Purchased $1000 worth, screen went through additional Commbank Challenges (which would have been blocked by adblockers!). Got my 6 digit code on phone. Bob is your uncle. Invoice arrived in 5 minutes, giftcards in about 15 min. Loaded to Amazon, no issue and the Black Friday purchases have begun.

Went back on to Gift card site and bought another $1000 worth same day, same process this time faster processing gift cards here in 5 Minutes - no issue.

So to clarify, the limiting factor is $2500, and/or 10 gifts cards per day. So this is not limited to 1 purchase per day. Enjoy

Full Clarity, Commbank credit Mastercard card

    • +2

I'm also with CBA, and have MC and max I could get was 1 x $100 per transaction. Very strange that some can buy multiples others like myself can't. Not Adblocker nor browser related either etc. Weird indeed but all good and just takes longer having to buy one by one.

      • Mobile phone, turn off wifi

  • +4

Still working, just bought another $500 and have received the invoice email

  • Have tried so many times with so many cards to no avail 😭😭

    • You can create a Wise AU account. I've paid using Wise yesterday and today using 500x5 gift cards. Gift cards were sent within 2 minutes. You can also try lowering your denomination to 100x1 gift cards. You just need to do it more times to get to your desired amount of gift cards.

    • Yeah my two attempts failed…

      Edit: ING card worked.

    • Mobile phone, turn off wifi

  • +4

i dont know why but i bought $1500 worth.

    • +4

      because you saved $150 :D

      • Holy shit! You are right! I didnt think of that!
i made the right choice and u just made me realise that LOL

    • rookie numbers :P

  • +1

It worked for me just then. I used safari and St George credit card. I manually typed all my details in and didn’t use any autofill (didn’t work when I did)

  • +3

I get to the payment screen and it just sits there saying Loading…

    • +2

turn off adblock, worked for me and many others here

      • +1

        cheers, that worked

  • +3

Still available? Must resist buying more.

  • -2

Is there really a risk associated with purchasing too many gift cards? Can Amazon really disable your account?

    • They will be really happy seeing you spend money at Amazon AU! What else they are seeking!
