No high end Ryzen deals makes me sad.

    16gb ram, cmoooon >_<

    • -3

      Too much?

  • +41

trying to clear out those Intel CPUs no one wants

    • +1

How have they been holding up since the fix? Any difference to overall performance etc?

      • +15

they are probably fine, but the reputational damage was huge and they are releasing new CPUs shortly. This gen will just end up being rebranded and re-released to clear out stock.

          • +9

@cephh: Wtf are you on? My $700 build from 2019 is still going strong

          • +1

@cephh: my early 2022 build still solid af righto m8

          • @cephh: I bought 2 computers for my nieces and nephews about 7 or 8 years ago from Techfast for about $599 each I believe. It was still working until I sold it last year. The Power supply was some unknown brand but everything was working fine. It was well worth it. They have now upgraded to a mid range PCs.

          • @cephh: Pretty sure if you had a genuine problem it would have been resolved.

            • -7

@Pace210: It was purchased in 2023, August. Power supply sparked and had to replace it. It is low quality no brand PSU, all downvotes that are hating is crazy.

              • -6

@cephh: And I'm sure you contacted their support and got assistance as it was within your 12 month warranty… right? If it was outside your 12 month warranty, maybe you should have opted for a longer one?

Or are you just whining for the sake of it?

                • +4

@samba: Nope it happened in september this year, unfortunately. But i expect their psu's to last.

                  • @cephh: Contact them and they will assist.

          • +6

@cephh: I know a few people with Techfast builds with failed PSUs - Leaper brand IIRC.

    • +2

you mean the Intel Core i7 14700F? what problem you are talking about?
      Im a noob/newbie in this.
      Thank you in advance.

      • +16

13th and 14th Gen Intel CPUs have instability issues and should be avoided.

    • +6

      That's the joke

    • +16

If you order now, you will receive the PC a week after Black Friday.

  • +17

Hi Luke. Are you planning to jump on the MSI steam voucher deal bandwagon? A few other stores have offered tempting deals, but I don't think I've seen a TechFast one yet.

    • +2

was about to inquire the same

  • +1

no 5600 (and only $30 more from prev deal 5500 is not worth) or wifi on the mb kills this deal

  • +1

Decent Dota Machines, cheers will look at the base model

  • +7

    Any AMD Cpu options?

  • +7

    No AMD no dice

    • Buy a 12400f and unless you look in the BIOS you got a 5600x.

  • +6

My goodness, now a full build as cheap as a mini pc but with a GPU !!! So tempted

  • Ah I was just about to pull the trigger on the 4070 ti super and 7800x3d build you had but it looks like it's expired. Any plans to do something similar soon?

    • +3

      Not at this stage sorry

    • I bought the Techfast 7800X3D build last week… Glad I did not wait. I was weighing up against Gala with 7800X3D and 4070 super.
Techfast worked out a bit more after I matched/did cooler and ram upgrade but has Ti super.

  • I am getting my popcorn out to watch the STEAM games! Let there be only one winner….

  • -7

@luketechfast When are you going to have the option to choose Win10 and/or 11 with no activation? Been wanting this since I have a spare key at home for a friend and I don't want Linux preinstalled on it.

    • +37

Never. It goes against Microsoft's policies. It will be Linux mint or the purchase of Windows for the foreseeable future.

      • +10

        Huge respect for this.

      • +1

Damn, now that I looked into it, it has become less common to find windows preinstalled non activated machines.

        • +2

You cannot legally distribute Windows without a licence, for obvious reasons.

      • +2

        Year of the Linux Desktop!

      • Its better anyway once you get used to it.

    • +12

It takes a few minutes to install Windows. MS have offical downloads.

Why on earth would you trust some random to install your copy of Windows? They could have installed anything.

      • -5

True. But I trust Luke <3

        • +17

Here’s the thing. You don’t know Luke. You don’t know who they employ that will do the installs.

I’m not saying they aren’t trustworthy. But it’s absolutely crazy to blindly trust some random person with a device you’re most likely going to be doing online banking etc. on.

Your security is worth more than the time it takes to install Windows yourself.

      • -2

        Just run Malwarebytes before use.

    • The build comes with instructions on how to reformat and install windows on it. You just click activate key later during setup and use MAS to activate once you've installed Windows

    • Personally I don't care what it comes installed with I will be reimaging it anyway no matter how trustworthy I consider the person, way too many places for someone to inject something bad into the supply chain even if the person doing the install is 100% trustworthy.

  • +3

bring on the 7500f with ddr5!

  • Jumped on board for the ITX one. Thanks!

  • -1

    Hi Luke,

Intel Core i5-12400F | RTX 4060 ITX Is this config Bottleneck? ie CPU is not fast enough?? If so what would be the best CPU for the 4060 GPU? cheers

    • +1

RTX 4060 is an entry-maintsream level GPU. 12400f should be fine for it.

  • Hi Reaper, Thanks for the reply, not that I dont trust you, but whats a reputable site that can measure if a system is bottlenecked? Also I only game in 1080p , Mainly older games but sometimes Metro and Crysis etc at 1080p, I notice the i5-12400F is also paired with 4060Ti super? Is that really the max that this CPU can handle?? How much more FPS can we get with the 4060Ti GPU vs 4060?? cheers,

    • I don't do shooters but here's my 2 cents so you have a reference.
      I have a 12400F with a 3080
I don't go for fps, I go for quality, but
I am doing Diablo 4 4K maxed (No RT) and hitting 140 and consistent 120 DLSS balanced.
I have struggled with Starfield (1 month ago patch) 4K Ultra DLSS performance holding 60 in Atlantis, and I do believe the CPU to be the neck.
I have played many games maxed out (no RT) and they look gorgeous and nothing below 60. I usually target and get 120-140. Eg CP2077, Alan Wake remastered, The last of us…

  • Between Intel Core i5-12400F | RTX 4060 ITX Gaming PC and AMD Ryzen 5 5500 | RTX 4060 8GB Gaming PC, are there many performances differences? i.e. the second option outperforms exceptionally better than the first option.

    • The 5500 is maybe +5% faster which is not something I would factor.

What's important is the CPU socket the AMD AM4 versus Intel LG1700. The AMD chip is on its final generation with 2 newer gens not being available to it.

The Intel socket has available Intel 12th - 14th gen, with this CPU being the oldest at 12th gen. This means that assuming the motherboard is updated, this socket should have a larger and newer upgrade path.

Personally, I'd argue the AMD 5500 being more power efficient is more important than anything else and the likelihood of meaningful upgrade on this price point isn't as high, plus a budget ITX isn't going to be a good choice for the VRM power needs of the higher end Intel CPU's that gargle 250W+.

It's honestly hard to say which is better, but performance itself isn't much of a factor.

      • 12400f at least 1-2 tier higher and better than 5500. 5600x similar performance to 12400f, 5600x faster than 5600, 5600 faster than 5500. 5500 doesn't even support PCIE Gen 4.

      • +1
        • +1

Plus you have Intel QuickSync available etc for transcoding. I also didnt find AM4 all that stable with USB issues. 12400f is a no brainer at the same price.

    • +1

      I built a system 2 years ago with 5600 and 6800, so 12400f, 5600x and 5500 was on my radar. Avg fps will be 12400f = 5600x > 5600 > 5500. So 12400f is better and faster CPU.

  • +3

I was just after this exact build. Asked techfast about a week ago and they said nothing. I ended up going down a different path which was much less ideal.

Would have expected them to know about upcoming deals…

  • Which of these builds would you recommend for 1440p gaming at (or close to) 144fps?

    • Probably want a ryzen 7800x3d with a 4070Ti level or higher GPU if you want fast gaming and frame rates.

  • Anyone know if you fit any HDD into the Leaper-ITX case?

  • -3

Should I wait for Black Friday?? Budget $1K but would like a $2K machine value ;))

Has these PC sellers ever do a really good deal around Mid November or do you think it will be of similar value to this and the NEBULA deal??

Will the deals get better? I am not in a rush, but I am interested in their strategy??

Also I prefer an all Metal case, that allows heat dissipation, I am not going to stare at my PC box. LOL maybe 1st 30s

  • +1

Damn was umming and ahhing about the 7800 x3d 4070 TI super deal for last few days, but looks like it's just been expired today. Proabbly to make way for these deals

    • As written above
I bought the Techfast 7800X3D build last week… Glad I did not wait. I was weighing up against Gala with 7800X3D and 4070 super.
Techfast worked out a bit more after I matched/did cooler and ram upgrade but has Ti super.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/870800#comment-15808715

      • yeah i waited and now i missed it. Can't really see a 7800 x3d and TI super deal for 2100ish around. Hopefully blackfriday will come through lol

    • yep, me too, was just about to buy! the cpu and gpu at that price point with the 32gb ram upgrade was a really good price point but i waited too long as well :(

  • Out of interest, what Linux distro is pre-installed?

Edit: Found on another listing, it's Linux Mint.

I see there is AfterPay as an option before checkout, but it's not showing after.

  • +1

Is the PSU on the 5500 build 550W or 750W? Conflicting info..

  • Im not that tech savy and want to know which one would be a good fit for watching 4k content and some 1080p gaming? Cheers

    • +5

1080p gaming & 4K video is whatever is cheapest in this listing.

  • Hi @luketechfast, can you confirm if the 14700f comes configured with the power limits set by Intel and the patch to minimise the stability issues? Thanks!

  • +2

Can someone share what they believe the advantages are of a sub $1000 gaming PC vs xbox/ps5? I am saving up for a gaming 'system'
My question is not related directly to this deal, and I already have a pc for general office work.

    • +2

It's a PC. It's not just for games. It also does YouTube, web browsing, piracy, porn, social media, be a server, the list goes on.
      Watch This Video

      • Their current “general office work” PC can do those things too.

        • +2

Yes, but who wants to lug their work desktop home every night? Might get some looks too.

    • No subscription fees for online games, infinitely larger catalogue of games (ie; eternal forward and backwards compatibility), much better game prices because of competing key sellers, actual free games from multiple sources (not tied to a subscription, like the games Epic Game Store give away weekly), added flexibility to adjust graphical settings to your preference, mods, many games (particularly indies) launching on PC long before consoles, much wider peripheral support.

With the rising cost of consoles, shelling out a couple of hundred more for a reasonable gaming PC can potentially save you a lot of money in the long run.

      • Thanks

    • +1

I hook this up to my tv using a 5 m HDMI and a switcher with my monitor, and now it's basically an xbox that can also do the normal PC stuff.

  • I recently bought 2x 12400F-4060i-BFCM for my work place.

Completely overkill and fast running all kinds of machinery and hardware.

Can vouch for the good service 😀

  • +1

great prices! I need a game to convince me to put my money on this.

  • Any advice on which would be best for cities skylines and chrome with 600 tabs? That’s pretty much all I do

    • Same here, you dont need a gaming pc,just a good cpu that's it.cost much much less without gpu

  • +1

Would be nice if you offered wifi modules and installed them whilst building, I've been running mine off a pi 4 with a network bridge for 3 months because as far as I can tell I need to pull the whole thing apart to add a wifi card

Why not just offer it if you're building it anyway

  • +1

is the 4060 a low GB Card?

  • +1

So i haven't really been up to date but a quick read online, a lot of people are saying Intel cpus have had issues in the last few months regarding crashing and stability. Can anyone here confirm that the problems are still there?
