congrats or i'm sorry that happened to you

      • -1

        Should i be worried?

    • +3

That's OK we're an open minded bunch here

    • +4

It's ok people make mistakes, as long as you learn from it, it's mistake worth having

      • +8

Exactly, he should have bought a Wii U.

        • +7

          Hey!

the Wii U was good for what it is

        • +5

I have a wii as well

        • +2

Once hacked it’s a beast. The cheapest way you’ll play a bunch of top class games

  • Finally, decent prices on the PS5s

    • +7

It was $505 with Spiderman 2 last year (original post, disc)

      • I'm waiting for it to drop to at least $550 before parting with my cash. It has been dropping ever so slowly lol. PSVR2 Dropped like a rock so I'm crossing my fingers. I've been lurking after my PS5 dropped dead on me couple of months ago. Would of bought one from David Jones's sale but had to wait for the PS5 Pro's Price. What a rip…

  • Anyone use the Dualsense Edge?

The price is quite clearly ridiculous, even on sale. But my main concern is the limited battery life. Admittedly, it's not like I'm even in a sitution to spend a whole day gaming in the first place, but 4-5 hours seems like it's just asking for trouble.

    • +3

I have had it since launch. The battery life only got in the way a handful of times (maybe because I rarely play longer than 3-4 hour bursts) but when it did, it comes with a very long threaded cable with a lock so it doesn't come out of the controller.

Honestly I tried using my Xbox elite controller or the regular Dualsense and I can't go back from the Edge.

  • Out of stock? No option to add to basket?

    • On which product? I see Add to Cart for everything on my end…

    • +1

Same on my end from desktop. Only DualSense Edge available. The console does show up as available when opened in a private browser though. I think they're filtering out certain postcodes. A lot of my usual purchases show unavailable when logged in or if I can add them to the cart it then says it won't ship to my location. This is all with Prime

      • +1

Resolved by clearing cache and cookies.

        • Cheers for the suggestion but still no good for me. I've tried different browsers and the app too

  • +5

Less than RRP, but not much of a bargain. I got a PS5 disc for $616 back in March. Hold for a better deal if there is no rush. They'll come down abit further as they start to push the PS5 Pro.

  • -1

we had better deals before with god of war bundles and stuff, what happened to those deals, i myself would be interested in picking the slim disc version if fkn gta 6 was out, its been 12 years we used to get them every 3-4 years

  • +4

Have both PS4 (Slim) and PS5 (Fat).

Use the PS4 mostly. I got the PS5 last year at $599 when there was an AMEX $100 off for SONY deal going on (699 JB/Amazon/Harvey brought down to 599).

$675 is OK but realistically this console should be $550 by now and lower on Sales.

I'm agnostic on systems (have PC, Xbox, PS) and have adopted a current gen -1 for the future. So when PS7 comes out I'll get a PS6.

Also I like homebrew so Jailbreaks on PS4 are solid now but not quite there on PS5 yet.

    • Might want to check again ps5 jailbreak is going strong I think they found something few days ago 👍🏽

    • more info on the BailJreak please i got a ps4 pro

      • +1

Youtube: Modded Warfare + Luckfox + PPPwn. It doesn't require doing any hardware mod or opening the console. Just plug in and some initial setup first time.

        • damn thanks bro, is there a best in class one rn i can buy without modifying the ps4 pro, i just want a plug and play tool idk if it sits outside the console, i got the ps4 pro

        • is this the latest tool? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4fP6Cq64-8
im gonna have to dust off the ole ps4 pro that i bought for like 2 games which were rdr2 and TLOU2 to play them on release date, i updated my console in april 24 hopefully its on 11 or lower ill check tomorrow once i turn off my router :P

          • @Roe Jogan: Yes, it's the latest one. They have one that is not right angled so that fits the slims better. Mine is PS4 FW 11.00 on a PS4 Slim (bought just 2 months ago, FW stock was 10.01, updated to 11.00 (usb method, not SONY auto-update, turn off all the automatic network stuff and updating) and working flawlessly. Check out the other videos as well to get comfortable but it's about the easiest it can get (only the PS3 was easier to mod).

            • @amaslam: actually i was just thinking about this, why did you update to 11 instead of staying on 10.01 is it to have a larger catalogue of games playable on homebrew? also if i was to update before jail breaking, is there a guide i can follow that you can link me? also a site where allegedly one can get games from, i have Real-debrid which is pretty much instant torrent speeds

        • +1

luckily my console is on 10.01 which is hackable, just bought the p4 tool dongle from AliExpress for 28 dollars, even if i use it to install 1 game ive made my money back

  • if you hold off i got a feeling we will see some serious mark downs when the pro is released

    • Doubt it since the Pro is double the price. It's not like they're phasing out the slim. It only came out late last year, plus this is the first gen where consoles have been going up in price instead of down.

      • +2

If the pro doesnt sell out then it will sink like a stone in price

If it does then nothing will change

    • I think the next markdowns will be the typical Black or EOY sales. Also look out for X of coupons from AMEX which when stacked with GCs and price matching should get the normal PS5 or PS5 pro down quite a bit. I'm pro physical media so will pay extra to have discs. On the used market and on JB HiFi types sales can build up the library decently without too much coin.

  • +10

People paying 95% of RRP for a 4yr old console, that barely has any new games… and calling it a deal

    • Yep. I'll buy it when it comes down to 299.

    • I'm new to PlayStation.

About 40% of my games are PS4 games. The rest are ps5 games but probably also available on PS4.

I've no regrets buying the PS5 though. Looking forward to what games Sony has next in line.

(But I play Gran Turismo 7 like 98% of the time, that game is a drug)

      • +1

Wish me luck, put my name down for the $1649 PS5pro 30th anniversary

        • Personally couldn't do that but that is for a different kind of consumer, and who knows, that will become a collector's item in 50 years and sell for a million…

Enjoy it sir! I've a normal pleb fat ps5.

  • Should i get a ps1?

    • Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha…..

      • -1

        Why you laugh?

        • -2

          Hello Kamala?

  • +2

Meh. The game library is so average. It's hard to get excited about a current gen system when the library just gets worse and worse.

    • +1

      What's the alternative?

Personally have bought a ps5 last year and my library isn't big, but a handful of games have made the purchase worth it. Some aren't ps5 exclusive but that's ok, this is my first PlayStation.

      Gran Turismo 7.
      Guardians of the Galaxy.
      Spiderman (all of them)
      Uncharted (all of them)

I still haven't started my other games… Not rushing to add to it right now

      • Having a PC or a Steamdeck. GT7 is the only title I would be interested in.

Like back in PS1 - PS3 times, I could justify spending the big dollars on a console because of the games. But now I look at it and think I can play all those games elsewhere outside of a couple of exclusives.

Like the fact that the Switch has better exclusives than the PS, is pretty funny.

  • People were negging the EB ps5 pro trade deals and claiming you could sell your used PS5 for more than they were offering. A new disc PS5 slim is only $75 more than EB is giving me for my 4 year old fat ps5. 0 chance you’re getting much more than $500 selling privately. And you have to sell in advance plus deal with marketplace people.

    • @dwhes - $75 more with a disc drive though… The original fat PS5 includes a disc drive, so if you trade it in for a pro to receive the equivalent back you will need to pay an additional $159 for the detachable disc drive separately. The 4 year old original fat PS5 is the superior console in terms of the disc drive itself over the slim and the pro with the detachable disc drive in my opinion, because the disc drive for the original PS5 doesn’t require online authentication whereas it does for the slim and pro. If you care about physical media enough to still want a disc drive then it’s reliability 10-15 years from now should be of importance to you, because physical media is declining more and more each year, players likely won’t be manufactured in 10 years from now therefore you should be thinking about the future and wanting something that hopefully lasts quite a while longer so that you can still play discs, online authentication means the disk drives dies when Sony decides to no longer support it. And to put it into perspective if you want to do down the road of quality performance, I own over 20 1080p Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray players in my home, including 3 high end Oppo BD/4K players and 2 Panasonic UB820 players, therefore I have a lot experience comparing players with regards to performance.

I own the original fat PS5 disc edition as well as the slim PS5 disc edition, if I had to chose to sell one it would be the slim without the disc drive. If the EB Games deal included the PS5 digital edition for $425-$450 so the I could remove the disc drive and keep it to use with the Pro then I would be OK with that. Instead I have to sell EB Games a disc version to take part in the deal.

      • It’s not about what I’m getting back, I’m choosing to buy a pro regardless and to sell my Phat ps5. And it’s irrelevant that the phat ps5 is arguably the best iteration. What’s relevant is that EB are giving me $600 as a L4 for a 4yo used console. That if I was to sell privately any buyer is going to say “I can buy a new ps5 with disc drive for $675, why would I give you $600? Here’s my offer of $500 at most”.

        • -1

The cost of the disc drive on top is relevant though, regardless whether you are choosing to purchase the pro, you are trading a PS5 disc drive version for another PS5 that doesn’t have a disc drive, and are having to spend even more for another disc drive when you already had one to get the equivalent back. It’s only not relevant if you intend to not ever add a disc drive to your pro.

Sure EB Games might be giving you only $100-$150 less than what you originally paid for it, and you think this a good deal for a 4 year old console, however either way you’re still at a loss/out with your money. Whereas I won’t be. I’m choosing to buy a pro too, without selling my fat original disc edition or slim disc edition. I’ll have 3 PS5 consoles in 3 different rooms, and you’ll only have 1.

I have quite a number of consoles from many generations in my home, if I traded in each one for the next, then the money loss to me compared to what I originally paid would quite substantial. I would rather keep them.

          • @[Deactivated]: You are comparing a completely different scenario. All I am saying is that people were negging the amount EB were offering for trade ins. When in fact the amount they are offering is far more than you’d be able to get selling privately. That’s it. If you can buy a new ps5 with disc drive for $675, no one on marketplace is going to give you $600 for a 4 year old one. Which for me as someone who is happy to get rid of my old one and get a new pro, is a far better deal than selling the ps5 privately.

            • -1

@dwhes: I don’t think they were unfairly negging it, because my original point was that’s a shit deal because they have excluded the original fat PS5 digital edition and slim PS5 digital edition from the deal, and aren’t also giving reasonable high prices for them. I shouldn’t have to trade a superior disc edition for a non disc edition, original fat or slim, I should be able get a great trade price towards the Pro trading in the original fat digital edition or slim digital edition… I already have a detached disc drive the come with my slim disc edition, and I should be able to remove the drive from it so that I can trade the console in as a slim digital edition, so that I can use the drive with the Pro without having to sell the slim with the disc drive and then having to buy another disc drive for the pro costing me more.

      • @Cevolution I thought of the same thing — sell the Slim without the disc drive and keep it to use with the Pro. Question is, the Slim doesn't come with an extra cover for use without a disc drive, so how do you sell the Slim with a disc drive cover but no longer has a disc drive?

        • +1

@theo96 - From memory my slim disc edition come with an additional white plate so that you can remove the disc drive and change it from a disc edition to a digital edition, I’ll have double check that though. It doesn’t really matter to me though because I hate the white plates, I own the official midnight black and sterling sliver faceplates for both my original fat disc edition and slim disc edition PS5s, when you purchase different colour face plates for the slim they come with 5 plates so that you can use them with both the disc and digital edition.

Disappointing you can't even install Kodi or Vlc to play your own media. It has the power to do these things smoothly - it's kind of like it's their machine not yours.

  • -1

Honestly just get a second hand Series S and emulate older consoles.

  • I'm seeing $668 at the moment for the disc version
However, JB Hifi is still a better deal if you stack it with the Aldi gift card promo

    • Thanks. Price updated. Looks like they’re matching EB Games.

  • Are there any bonus game resources?

  • Does the slim suffer from heating issues or louder fan having to work due to smaller heatsink ?

    • Nope. They went overkill on the OG PS5 and slimmed it down later.
