Can stack with the below deal for a further 10% off.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/866037

    • Any idea since when did JB HiFi no longer permit purchases of PlayStation cards using TCN cards?

      • +2

What if you swap the TCN cards to JB Hifi gift card beforehand?

        • +1

I've been able to purchase Steam cards with a JB gift card in the past.
I wouldn't imagine a PS card would be any different, provided you are able to swap the TCN for the JB card

          • +1

@InsertCrow: It did work for me as well last year, but this time i think I'm outta luck.

            JB's t&c
"14. Gift Cards and Third Party JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase another JB Hi-Fi branded Gift Card or another third party gift card e.g. Steam Gift Cards, Xbox Gift Cards, Google Play Cards.

            Version 2

            November 2023"

        • +1

I recently did wih an ipad and they are usually similar terms, jut convert on the TCN site to jb cards.

        • @evilhomura89
Will try that as well at another store, cheers

          • +1

@PS6: Im not sure how you would go in-store if there is a limit, i used mine online and added 5 no problem. Basically on the TCN site you hit "how to use online" choose jbhifi and then you convert them there.

        • +1

Yep recently worked for an online purchase for me.

          • +1

@Spendmore: Cheers mate, it worked marvellously.
I wasn't aware these tcn cards can be converted and used onlineas well. I normally go instore to use it, now I'll take advantage of it more online.

      • +1

Just purchased using the gift cards

    • Can those gift card be used online?

      • +1

        It seems so

Back of package advertises ‘Use instore’ ‘Use online’

        • +1

Acorrding to the wiki it depends on the store. According to the website it's a yes for online for JB Hi-Fi. I shoulda done much research straight up…

      • Yes.

    • +1

Thank you so much, your comments saved me a good amount!

  • +1

    isnt this pretty much rrp?

    • +6

Think current retail is $799 so save $124

  • +1

Was gonna wait til black friday but I think this is it ! Yay

    • +7

Nope I am still going to wait

  • +1

    Amazon now price matching

    • How? Do you contact their support for price match?

      • +5

Nah sorry I just meant they dropped their price to match JB hifi's price

  • Not waiting for the Pro?

    • +13

Most people aren’t going to spend that much on a toy.

      • With Black Friday sales you’ll also most likely be able to buy 3 x digital PS5 Slim for the price of 1 x PS5 Pro lol, absolutely ridiculous pricing

      • +4

Comments on the 4070 super/4080 deals posted here would say otherwise.

        • +10

People are happy to drop $1,500 on a GPU but complain about an all in one $1,200 console.

          • +4

@cnut: problem most have with the price is no content to play with a $1200 console

          • +3

            @cnut:

People are happy to drop $1,500 on a GPU

The vast majority of people certainly aren't happy to spend that much for video games.

          • +6

@cnut: They are happy to drop $2000 on an iPhone too.

            • @amoretpax199:

They are happy to drop $2000 on an iPhone too.

You didn’t mention cost of living crisis in same sentence.

          • @cnut: Can claim on tax "work related"

          • @cnut:

People are happy to drop $1,500 on a GPU but complain about an all in one $1,200 console.

would assume PC GPU's more efficient mining bitcoins ?

          • +1

@cnut: I guess the thought patter in a PC us more more upgradeable and better for longevity. The components around a PC GPU can be replaced, but with a $1200 console, your stuck with it and then need to upgrade the whole system again when the new model comes out.

But I do agree, if people just want to make gaming easy, the PS5 Pro isnt that bad value for what people get. I don't game often and will probably just get the regular PS5 when GTA6 is released.

      • Already pre ordered one this morning, lol. The first PS5 was going for over 1500 often on ebay, so there is a market for people wanting to dump cash on this stuff. Compared to what 3 kids and 1 adult spend on games in our house, the console cost is insignificant. I mean, I am looking at spending 6k on a sim rig and that doesn't even include screens or a computer. You can spend a lot of money on this stuff if you get deep into it.

      • +2

at more than twice the price of digital version (575 atm) its definitely not worth it for the average consumer

      • Ever heard of hobbies? I assure you folks are spending much more on those 'toys'.

    • -1

Pro will be on sale after xmas or they will bundle items to help move them.

  • I was originally but lol we know what happened there not worth it this seems good for me , black Friday still pretty far away too

    • +6

Surely u can write a better sentence than that 😂

    • +3

It will be an insane flip if you're a reseller.
Or if you're a collector, it's probably a good idea to at least try and get it for retail.

I want one for the second reason. But I'm not hopeful.
Pretty pissed that eb games locked it behind level 5 membership :/

    • +7

It’s literally identical to this with a different colour shell. Companies must love the financial stupidity of “gamers”.🤦

It’s literally that Malibu Stacy Simpsons episode.

        • +1

Don’t look like the Portal is included in the bundle to me if that’s trust you mean by “handheld device”?

      • +1

…but it has a different colour shell!

      • +1

People spend $200-300 on "collector's edition" of games that come with junk of various sorts so I'm not surprised LOL

  • +4

Amazing. Digital Slim is less than half price of Digital Pro.

    • I have the original PS5 that costed me 799 but comes with a disc drive built in and a stand. :D

      • +1

I have an original PS5 disc that cost me 749 all up in 2021, I think I'm winning the value game for the generation.

        • +3

My $364 delivered from Big W eBay Series S in 2021 would have you beat.

Of course, that one item wins in value, I personally don't, since I bought the X as well, the shitty as PS5 as well (albeit for 750), and had a midnight launch and slim Switch.

Cheap Series S is the way to be this gen for me personally.

          • -2

@TheDukeOfNukem: Since Microsoft has commited to PC gaming and cross platform, their console sales have tanked as everyone moves to game pass. PS5 is outselling them 5:1 in hardware. I wouldn't really see those purchases as a 'win' personally.

            • +6

@Kill Joy: Sales numbers of the latest toy to whichever multibillion dollar company shouldn't matter to the end user, ever.

The numbers that matter are these,

              Price of entry:
              PS5 Pro: 1200
              Series S: 500
Number of games only on PS5: (profanity) all
Number of games only on Xbox: (ignoring the hundreds more it has via back compat) also (profanity) all
Number of games still rocking up on last gen anyway: a shitload

There's a plenty good argument to be made to not bother getting into current gen at all, but if you had to, I'd buy a Series S on special every time. It plays 99% of the games the PS5 does, it has a shitload more cheap games (sticking with value) via back compat, and it's 300 less than a bog standard PS5 even before it goes on sale.

            • @Kill Joy: You totally missed his point.

          • @TheDukeOfNukem: Series S is a bit of a joke, it has held Microsoft back this generation.

PS5 Pro at 1200 also a joke, it's half way into the generation and there are very few first party titles to go with it, maybe if they had it in 2021 but definitely not now.

            • @reactor-au: I'd be inclined to agree more, if there were more current gen games. The vast majority still come to last gen, and even ones framed as being current gen came eventually, like Hogwarts, Destroy All Humans 2, Jedi Survivor, Stray, etc.

Series S may be holding back current gen, but last gen is

    • But think of all the extra pixels you're getting!

  • any one going to preorder a PS5 pro? for 1200 bucks? :D

    • +8

      No

    • +1

Only if it finally implements the ever-so-glorious looking Dolby Vision. 🤓

    • +2

      No

    • +2

Was but now contemplating a pc upgrade instead.
Most of the decent PS games go to PC and I have a series x for GTA6 when that comes.

      • +2

Good choice GTA VI would be the only reason to get and you don't need it for that.

        • +1

          this^
only reason i got ps4 pro was for RDR2 launch day and knowing TLOU2 was gonna be a PS exclusive, so i bought a whole console for a rockstar game, same game plan for GTA 6

  • Same price on Amazon

  • +5

Massive advertising banner on the Big W homepage advertising a PS5 console sale starting tomorrow, no prices though.

    • +1

Showing same price as JB now.

  • I'm slightly interested in this, but not sure if I like games enough to justify the price. I have a bunch of 2nd hand PS4 games. Some I've played and/or finished and won't play again. Some I'm currently playing, when I get the time (Shadow of Mordor, Ghost of Tsushima, Watchdogs 2). Some I haven't played yet (Skyrim, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Horizon Zero Dawn, Watchdogs Legion). Would I benefit from playing these PS4 games on the PS5, or would they only be slightly better?

    • +1

GOT, Skyrim, AC and HZD all look better on the PS5. Load times are near instant. Check out YouTube videos especially DigitalFoundry.

  • +1

isnt it a bit crazy to play online you need a subscription?

imagine if they did this on pc, we would go mental, how is this even ok?

  • I'm wondering if there's a point to me getting this. I have a PS4 which I don't really play, but I do wish to play GTA VI when it comes out so will probably need a PS5. Other issue is that my TV is a LCD Sony from 2009. I presume I'd need to upgrade that really see a benefit in terms of graphics?

    • +5

For PS5 ideally you want a 4K120 OLED TV with HDMI 2.1 and VRR.

      • Thank you for your helpful reply.

  • Would the Portal be considered a good buy at this price?

    • It’s Subjective

I personally would not hesitate to bite on if it’s under $180

    • Not really, I can get it for $230 (staff discount) and that's probably the most Id pay

  • +1

So far, more than half-way through it's console lifecycle, there are only around a dozen games that are truly exclusive on the PS5. Owning a gaming PC and a PS4 Pro, I am not really tempted to get a PS5. Those exclusives will probably be released to the PC (Steam) in a few years anyway.

    • I don't think it's for you. Consoles are always good value for those who don't have a gaming PC. But if you already have a PC, just game on that

    • Same here, i spent a bit on my upgrading my gaming pc earlier this year, and between that and my ps4 pro, theres basically nothing enticing me to get a ps5.

  • Anyone use the Dualsense Edge?

The price is quite clearly ridiculous, even on sale. But my main concern is the limited battery life. Admittedly, it's not like I'm even in a sitution to spend a whole day gaming in the first place, but 4-5 hours seems like it's just asking for trouble.

    • I just leave mine plugged in, cable is like 2m

    • No way.

It's like the price of 5-6 regular DualSenses (on sale).

      • Well yes, but you can't use 5-6 controllers at the same time.

        • But you can replace one when it dies.

  • +1

My son just bought a PS5 slim from JB Hifi two weeks ago at full price. I guess there's no way he can recover the difference?

    • I recommend you give the store a call - they can be a helpful bunch when you’re nice :)

If worse come to worse - there might be a 30 day return period or something? Check more below:

      https://support.jbhifi.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/360053783433…

    • +1

They have a 14 day price guarantee. If youre slightly over ask them for a store credit and see how it goes.

      • -1

Can you please share a link?
I can’t find it on their site or via Google.

        • +2

This is the best I found, it is daily mail lol

        • I couldnt find a link either but called the store and they said bring in the receipt and theyll sort it out. I literally just did it this morning for this deal.

Bought ps5 disc yesterday, price matched target for $759 and used ultimate gift cards for 10% discount stacked. They gave me a store credit for the $84 difference as i used gift cards.

But yeah just call them they were extremely helpful.

      • Thanks - I went into the store and they refunded the difference back on to the card.

The 14 days is policy, and there is staff discression to extend that… so if anyone tries this, please be nice!

        • They do not have 14 days policy and they refused to refund me. 2 weeks ago exact same situation. They also admit some stores do give the refund. It was so frustrating, I bought another one at lower price returned it using the old receipt. As far as I knoe no serial number is attached to the sale.

    • +2

Happened with me on the Starlink, paid $599 and was pushed down to $299, I had taken it up with them on Live Chat and they refunded the difference, no hassles and very clean process. Big props to JB for that!

  • -1

i am waiting for cashback, ebay discount, everyday market cashback, black friday sales, price error and price protection claim for the PS5 Pro!!!

  • I wonder how many units they've shipped on the Portal. Seems like a bit of a solution without a problem to me. It's useful that my kid can play his Switch on the couch while I'm watching TV, but you can also just pick the Switch up and leave the house with it. As a standalone $300 bit of kit the Portal seems like it has really limited use-cases.

    • I bought a Portal since launch and probably just used it 5 times. The issue is that it works fine in the same house but when you go out it causes all sorts of issues
