Oh. Not really a “deal” then. Thanks. Well it’s 95 cents below RRP.

What a shit generation at has been. Hardly any games. Price increases. And already coming to an end starting in 2027 with Xbox most likely to be first followed by Sony soon after.

        Not disagreeing but

already coming to an end starting in 2027 with Xbox most likely to be first

The Series S/X were both released in 2020, and follow the same 7 year cycle the Xbox One S/X -> Xbox Series took, and similar to the 7.5 year cycle the Xbox 360 -> Xbox One (OG).

        Same thing with PS2 -> PS3 -> PS4 -> PS5, if you exclude PS4 Pro.

You're probably just forgetting how old because prices sadly haven't really come down for a 5 year old console yet.

Geeze, you’re right about the 5 years.

I feel like the extended cross gens made this gen feel shorter. That and many AAA’s dropped late last gen so we haven’t seen a new Gears, Naughty Dog release, etc. Nintendo Switch still hanging about has also made the PS5/Xbox seem new by comparison.

@Smigit: Everything post-covid seems to be this weird time bubble. 2020 does not feel like 5 years ago. Maybe 2-3. Also The PS5 wasn't even widely available in stores until about 2023-2024, which is kinda insane.

        • The difference is past generations actually had games so it felt like you had gotten value for money. This generation still doesn’t feel like it’s really started. Disappointment after disappointment.

      • It's been pretty good for those that got a PS5 at launch.

        • I’m an Xbox person. Past generations there’s been Sony games I feel I’ve missed out on.

This generation both consoles have been complete meh imo.

I don’t think I’ll be buying anymore consoles. Modern gaming just doesn’t interest me.

Have you ventured enough out of comfort zone playing the same game(s) over and over to try some new experiences?

There’s over 1,500 PS5 games now. Absolutely something for everybody.

          • @PainToad: Ratchet & Clank? Gran Turismo 7? Spider-Man 2? Astro-Bot (x2)? There's a start.

What a shit generation at has been. Hardly any games. Price increases.

        Yeah this generation feels boring..

Next generation is probably gonna not be any better and might be worse.
Just look at what Nintendo is doing with Switch 2 (in terms of price of games and console price, virtual game cards, selling only game code to download the full game, paying for a demo/introduction game)
Reaction to Switch 2 has not been good.

I don’t think I’ll be buying anymore consoles

I have skipped buying any PS5 or Xbox consoles this gen cos price did not drop that much from launch price..
so hardly any true deals (unlike PS4 Pro /Xbox Series X and Series S)..

plus doing shit like making the console thinner but now need to buy these PS5 Disc Drive as an extra cost..

There is hardly any good exclusive games and you can just wait for it on PC

Wow, PS5 was as low as $500 during black Friday, then it hovered around $600-$700 for ages.

Oof. Not exactly impulse buy territory.

      Standard PS5 with Blu-ray disc drive – AUD $829.95
      PS5 Digital Edition – AUD $749.95

Glad I got my most recent PS5 Disc Slim for about $408 after a combination of Everyday market 32% cashback and CBA price guarantee cashback.

I've always wondered why someone (Sony or 3rd party) hasn't made a 6 disc changer that can plug into the playstation so you can have your 6 favourite games and change them on demand like the old cd changers.

Maybe it's just me because my PS5 is in a shit spot and hard to get to to change discs.

    • No money in that!

    • +1

      hasn't made a 6 disc changer

You obviously never experience CDs getting stuck in disc changer of a car…

Also the device would be bulky and cost double or more this price.

    • +1

Wouldn’t that be fantastic! They did used to make 300/400 disc changers back in the day. Always wanted one but was crazy expensive.
