  • I don't think Switch 2 will cost you $699, apparently PS5 + Switch 2 > PS5 Pro

Stop giving this trash company (SONY) your money, like literally no new games. All are remakes or remastered or vr. How do people throw away money at scam companies like this ?

Also wtf is EB games smoking ? "cheapest way" yeah just give away your old console. Misleading as hell.

whats wrong with the limited remake of ff7 version 3 pro winter edition

they are essentially giving people $500 trade in for a console that most people paid $750 for 4 years ago, that is not a bad deal at all

      • Cool of the ps5 pro was like $800.. But it's $1200 + disc drive.

  • That’s a bloody good deal especially if u r level 5 and have plus.
It’s a $1200 console with 2tb on storage. Even the 2tb Xbox console is 999

    • The Xbox comes with a blu-ray drive, the PS5 Pro does not. $1350 vs $999 is a fair difference.

Pre-ordered 2 pros as I'll be trading in both my OG ps5s. Each to their own and no one is forcing anyone to buy it.

    • Just curious, why do you have two?

      • +1

One for me and one for my 2 boys

Faaaaar ooooout!! Only available to level5 and such an outlay too…

Bugger EB Games and them profiting off of me from me selling them/trading in a PS5 console for cheaper than what I paid for it only to have them sell it used at a higher price, I’m keeping my fat disc edition PS5 that I paid $700 for from JB at launch as well as my slim disc edition PS5 that I paid $559 for brand new from JB. I pre-ordered the PS5 Pro at JB Hi-Fi today for the full $1199 price, and paid the lot upfront. I originally wasn’t going to buy a PS5 Pro when the price was revealed, however I have since changed my mind, if I change my mind again then I can always cancel my JB pre-order and get a full refund.

The PS5 Pro will go in my living room, the PS5 slim will remain in my bedroom, and the original PS5 will either go in my guest bedroom or maybe I’ll connect it to my WFH monitor… Or perhaps I’ll be generous and give it to my brother, I’ll probably keep it though because the disc drive in the original PS5 is superior and more reliable in my opinion because it doesn’t require online authentication like the detachable disc drive for the slim and pro does.

    • It's more for EB games customers, especially those who took on the PS5 pre-order trade in deal years ago. I basically paid $50 for my PS5 (but I had to trade in a PS4 Pro, 3 controllers and a bunch of games). Back then, every game and controller received bonus 50% trade in value. The guys in front of me did even better. One of them even walked out with $900 worth of EB gift card. I think he traded in 45 games + PS4 Pro + 2 controllers.

One big issue this time is PS5 Pro is digital edition, so no disc drive and it looks like the disc drive add-on will be very difficult to get.

      • Anyone that buys the ps5 pro (and if it become a successful seller for Sony) will be just giving Sony the message/data that this is how they should sell future consoles (ie PS6 and beyond) to sell overpriced digital console and buy your own addon disc drive..

$1200 for a ps5 pro (that I don't think even gives you double the performance of the Ps5
Can't imagine how much they are gonna price the PS6..

The original PS5 also hardly drop much since it's original launch price (4 years ago)..
and don't even have that many exclusive games

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:PlayStation_5-only_ga…

Xbox tried to go digital only and had to backtrack after backlash..

Sony is getting more and more arrogant..

Reviews for ps5 pro has generally been negative from what I've seen.

    Terrible value. No deal here.

  • No thanks

  • So does anyone know if there are limits to what ebgames will accept for the 4 games? Thinking about jumping on FB Marketplace and just grabbing four PS4 games for $10 or so and using that with that PS5 console to get the $600 off for the trade-in

    • +2

Any PS4, PS5, Xbox X, Switch, 3DS game as long as it's not F2P. It was confirmed on a public post on their FB page.

      • Great, thanks

  • When does this deal end?

    • 6th November is my guess, that's the day before launch

  • does anyone know what happens if you trade in towards the ps5 pro but then potentially cancel before it's release. Do they reduce your trade in credit?

    • I would say yes but it may depend on the store and if they implement the rules properly.

      • Called my local and they couldnt even tell me what would happen

        • I did this before. They will refund $1199 to you (PS5 pro price).

  • To everyone complaining at the price, I was kicking myself when I realised I missed the trade in window for the PS5 when it came out. I ended up paying close to $1000 for a retail package. The real deal here is it's half the retail price for the digital console. You won't get that anywhere else and it's only available before and for a short time after release. If you can't stand Sony and you want to dump your PS5 then pre-order the PS5 Pro with you PS5 as trade-in and flip it, you will make over $500 because demand is not going away anytime soon. • I don’t think the profits for scalping the pro will be the same as the OG PS5 at launch.

There is just one big problem. There will be plenty of stock for PS5 Pros from the retailers, so you will need to sell at a discount price (if it is the same price, people will buy from EB or JB (not to mention discount gift cards)).

For people who did the initial PS5 trade in deal (most of them would pay very little over the initial deposit of $100 or $50), simply sell the PS5 would be an easier option (rather than this upgrade to Pro, then sell the more expensive PS5 Pro).

  • I had a chat with them at my local ebgames and they said they would accept any 4 shit ps4 games, but i cant buy them there, haha. I was so close to pulling the trigger, but when i realised id be trading in ps5 disc console for one with no disc, and no expected disc drive stock anytime,.i pulled the plug. I mean, i pay $600 and i cant even play any of my own games…

    • The 4 games account for $156 credit for Level4, so it is a good idea to buy 4 cheap second hand games (i.e. $1 or $2 ones) to trade in. EB had a discount on old games 2-3 weeks ago (quite a few $1 ones). Cash converters also had / have some cheap ones. Free games (such as Destiny 2) cannot be traded in.

EB staff may not let you buy them on the spot (while you do the trade in), but you most certainly can buy them beforehand. EB did close the loop hole so the bonus on the trade in can only be done on those 4 games and the console. Any additional trade-in is based on your existing EB world benefit (and the trade in values for controllers are not good at the moment).

My local EB store told me they will be busy on the day (they have 60 pre-orders). They are recommending people to do the trade in before hand (because they do need to check the console). I am a bit surprised by the number. Obviously can't compare to the initial PS5 pre-order, but I was expecting far less number than 60 for 1 store.

      • 60 sounds like a lot. For the OG PS5 there was only about 10 people at my JB for opening, but I guess more would’ve come throughout the day.

        • +1

I think eb would have made more sales due to the trade in deal. It was the only deal worth considering for people who didn't want to pay rrp

  • Picked it up earlier today. It's a nice and light console. Much lighter than og ps5

  • Picked up mine on Thursday from EB. However, my box didn't have a seal on it. Is this how we get them in Australia with no seal? Did anyone else have a seal on the box?

    • Might be related to PlayStation trying to reduce plastic. Do OS boxes have a seal? Maybe watch some unboxing videos on YouTube.

      • OS models definitely have seals and use different packaging based on the unboxing videos I've seen. That's why I'm asking about other peoples experiences with AU models
