Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 256GB $1352.5 ($1700 off) + $300 Giftcard with JB Hi-Fi Mobile $99/M 24M SIM Plan @ JB Hi-Fi (in-Store)

2040

Credits to JinTheGod for discovering this via the similar deal for Pixel 9 Pro XL here - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/866174

As confirmed in the previous JB Telstra cancellation deals , the cancellation cost would be $766.59 + $99 for the first month fee
Hence the total cost would be $766.59+$99+$2187-$1700 = $1352.59 for the 256GB Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
In addition to the above, JB is throwing in an extra $300 Bonus Giftcard for this sign up, bringing the cost down to $1052.59

Not bad if you're eyeing the S24U and don't mind exploiting the cancellation loophole.

EDIT: for those who are with Telstra, you might have an opportunity to bring the price lower by asking JB to price match Telstra store.

As quoted, by ShinyDiamond
"I spoke to Jbhifi Melbourne Central, they mentioned they can price match Telstra if I show then in store that I have an active Telstra account. Telstra 256gb is $1899 vs $2187 at jbhifi. They agreed to price match this price.

256gb price = $1899 - $1700 + $99 + $766 = $1064 and $300 gift card"

    Um . Ha . I'm rrr con f used . Anyone else?

  • -2

Did anyone use the $300 jb gc towards the same purchase?

    • I don't think so, as GC will be given once all transaction done.

    • You can’t, GC will be given to you after purchase

  • +2

Few years back my brother signed this kind of plan with JB, payed up front $1000 for a top of the range iPhone. Plan cancelled in a month, was expecting around $600 bill from telstra which never came, no email, no phone calls and nothing in the mailbox.
So you never know when you get lucky

    • +1

Telstra is known for incompetence, I had over 6 month free nbn from them and a couple of freebies from them from time to time.

      • A few years ago, I was sent 2 of the exact same phones (flagship Samsungs) by Telstra, and they never asked for the 2nd duplicate phone back. I kept it in a box for the first 2 years until I ended my contract (in case they realised and asked for it back) and then gave it away to a friend after no-one wanted it back.

  • +1

What amount it shows on invoice for phone? Can u claim trs?

    • It shows the full phone amount, TRS is possible but may have to pay GST back when you return if you are not travelling with a family to pool the tax free threshold together.

  • +1

Have they fixed the camera issues on S24U yet?

    • Have heard the camera issues are pretty bad.

      https://youtu.be/1cGDwTf2_pQ?si=0MiUVqzgYrXMeyNe

      • Pixel cameras are pretty good.
How much other Samsung bloat are on these?

        • And really shitty battery. YouTube it. Typing to you from pixel 8 pro. Also had the 6 pro, 3xl, 2xl, 1

          • @lawyerz: Yeah the larger phones will use more battery because of the massive screen.
i'm not saying it's not an issue, but depends how long you expect to get out of them, I think a day is normal nowadays. You can do quite a lot of tweaks to start with and limit apps backgound behaviour etc.

Certainly was good when my sony w850i lasted 7 days. Even with the pre-Nexus 6P i remember all those different roms you could load and some had awesome standby (like would only lose a percent or two overnight but when you start using it the thing would plummet).

  • If anyone can confirm if i can csncel by first month?

    • Yes, I did cancel my plan after 5mins of purchase via JB hifi mobile app chat.

      • Did you mean you purchased this deal through chat? I thought in store only. Love to purchase through chat if possible as I’m overseas

      • How much did you end up paying for cancellation?

  • So I need a new phone … And actually a mobile phone plan too (telstra preferred)… So actually the 99 deal without cancelling it is more suited for me .. but then hurts to miss out on the cancelling loophole

    • +2

      lol! thats a wierd FOMO

    • Get two and cancel one.

      • And have two handsets?

        • If you need two. Otherwise sell one.

  • Can this deal applies to other phone as well?

    • No, it’s specific only to the s24 ultra

    • just canceled?

    • Not the $1700 discount & bonus $300 gift card found on the S24, but you can use this method for other phones and get up to $1200 off the phone. You commit to the $99 Telstra plan which gives you $1200 GC towards any phone (there’s also $79 plan with $600 GC), then cancel immediately and the cancellation voucher payment is $800 + $99 (1st mth plan), you then nett $301 from the GC.

  • Anyone here going for/went for this deal after recent pixel 9pro xl plan cancellation?

    • +1

isnt that going to be too obvious?

    • Just make up your mind and keep one

  • I dont have a number to port in. Would they give me a new number when i sign up?

    • Sure will.

      • Would the people workouts number to port in miss out on 1700 off?

  • Anyone in melb signed up this morning & able to price match cheaper?

    • They told me I could only choose between price match or $300 gift card, not both.

      • thanks, seems to be hit & miss, some wont do anything, some will,, may also try tgg if they price match they have $1650 off & not sure if the bonus $300 redemption stacks advertised here

  • Ok just went back to JB today after buying this yesterday and they were happy to price match Telstra 512gb for me but wanted the $300 voucher back which i was fine with. Maybe if you weren't doing a swap you could also get the voucher?

So real cost to me for the 512gb version was $2099-$1700+$800+99=$1298 and no voucher.

    • did you have an active telstra service?

      • I did the same as above.. have a Telstra service

    • Why no voucher? Isn't that part of the deal. Are you not losing out on 300$ with this

      • They told me price match or giftcard can't have both when allowing me to swap. Larger phone and price match suited me better than smaller phone and technically more $$ on a giftcard that i didnt have anything i want to buy at jb currently.

I dont know if you would have more luck at Melb central jb who said they'd match and getting the deeal for the first time not a swap.

        • Just got fold 6 for $2449 price match with telstra + $300 gift card. Paid $799 difference + $99 first month fee

          $2449-$1650 = $799

          @ roseland jb hifi

@XucCac: Now pay $800 to disconnect

            • @spy: people are forgetting that part.. ha

            • @spy: $766.59

    • They don't miss you for phone storage these days!
so 1298/23 months = $56 vs $99 on the plan (and no up front out of pocket(?).
I got a boost sim but wouldn't port that. Wouldn't JB have signed you up on a telstra plan anyway?

I think the plan is alright for people that want the data etc.
Otherwise the pixel pre-order deals work out better imo with bonus trade + GC (and trade value when send phone in).
Can always sell privately but not exactly worth the effort these days nor get much more.

      • Also waiting for the Pixel 9 Pro pre-order deal from JBHiFi.

I was tossing up between the plain Pixel 9 or Pixel 9 Pro but the ship has sailed for the plain P9 pre-order deal from JB so unless P9 is significantly discounted say to $900-$1000 range I leaning towards P9pro.

My priority is size of phone & long battery life. That's about it these days.

Pixel 8 was just ok for battery life. I want better battery life that P8 provided.

When is the expected pre-order date for Pixel 9 Pro for JB?

        • +1

Agree I think the P9 Pro is worth the extra $350 over P9, but you get $390 trade instead of $300 (based on trade of a P8 128GB). So only an extra $260, and you get the sighly better camera, ram, screen (and 1 year AI, don't really care about that too much).

Agree, I'm keen on the smaller form and have the p8 now (also had P5, P7 which seemed to have a bit better battery life than p8). The XL etc have bigger batteries but the big screen milks it. I think the G4 CPU will use up the difference in the better battery of the P9 vs P8's G3. P8 is fine but screen on time reduces it on most phones, lasts ages if you aren't on it too often.

Yeah the 24th is 5 weeks away so hopefully we'll hear something about it in 2-3 weeks.

    • Can i ask how much was printed on the tax invoice. Ie. How much did it say you had to pay?

      Asking for tax claims purposes.

Also, have you cancelled the plan?

      • Shows phone at $2099 but as mine was a exchange/price match showed -$58 they were refunding me.

Yesterday's one showed $2187 less discounts $457 to pay (used jb perks $30 off on this one).

Plan I will cancel after a few weeks so can get some use out of it.

      • dunno i'm waiting for the pixel 9 Pro

$450 out of pocket sounds ok for the S24U, maybe that's the attraction of getting it on a plan, but people will still then have to payback $800 I thought. Headache, easier getting something cheaper outright

    • So they said no to me to match Telstra but happily matched to Centrecom for $2149 for 512GB and also gave me the $300 giftcard. Out of pocket was $449 reduced to $426.55 (5% discounted Giftcard) but got the $300 Giftcard. Now need to work out the $99 per month charge.

  • Yep had to show them a current statement. Oh and they refunded the difference from the price match back to my cc if anyone was wondering.

    • aahh.. is that a post paid service? would a prepaid $2 sim work as well?

  • Nah monthly direct debit plan. Not sure if post paid works. They didnt look very hard though was on my phone and I wonder if they could read it properly was so small.

    • so i cant jsut get a new plan and then get jb to price match and then cancel that plan

      • No idea i had a statement so showed that. As long as a you had a way to show you can buy from Telstra outright i think its fine.

Below is on Telstra site for anyone else wondering why they need this to price match for you.

If you already have a service with us, you can buy outright without adding a plan. Plan price may change.

        • Which store did you purchase from?

  • What can we expect to pay for S25 Ultra pre order?

    • I find the deal from Samsung themselves works out to be the best. I think I paid about $1,100 for the 256gb version of the S24U.

    • +1

That's what I think I will wait for, if I can put up with my crappy pixel 8 pro for that long. Probably around 6 months away from that announcement and hopefully deals. Normally I'm not too fussed with getting the newest but the rumours are they are 'redesigning the galaxy series for a fresh feel' plus usually at least guaranteed better camera's, battery etc.

This deal is tempting but similar to what people got on release with Samsung stacks, so hoping for similar for the s25U. I do miss my S21 ultra…

      • +1

Yep S21 Ultra still awesome, it's what I'm upgrading from. I wouldn't even upgrade except want a phone for my son. So he can have my S21 lol.

  • +3

Thanks all. Just picked it up. Priced matched the s24u with amazon price $1740, used $30 jb perk discount, only paid $10 out of pocket, and got $300 gift card as well.

The CIS plan i signed says $800 cancel, no where it says $1700.

    Awesome deal.

    • +1

You successfully price-matched the Titanium Black 256GB S24 Ultra sold by Volereo Pty Ltd from Amazon? Where do you get the perks discount as well?

      • +1

You have been very luckly. They bluntly refused to price match same Amazon price for me yesterday.

        • I showed them that it's Australian seller, and under additional details it states that it is AUS stock. If it was gray import than definitly i understand. I asked them to confirm the model number as AUS stock model number will be same, so they check. I also showed them S24U sold by Amazon AU as well, which was $100 more, and i was happy to do that as well. They gave me on other one, so happy ending.

This is the amazon product i used: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CQM9NG73

          Amazon AU: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BR6CXN78/

      • Email from jb perks, spend $300 and get $30 off.

    • Which JB Hifi? Thanks.

    • great deal, they refused to match it for me at Northland so I went with the Telstra price.

      • Sounds miles easier haha.
And not stuck with more gift cards.

      • Do you have an existing telstra service?

        • +2

Just an active Telstra account with no servicesm they didn't check that though

    • Would love to know which JB. Thanks!

    • Thats very lucky, i went to one store and they refused to price match telstra's, got it done at the next store I went to. The grey is 1699 on amazon. Should've tried that.

      • Which store matched it?

        • Hurstville declined, miranda matched telstra's, but had to show tou uave an account with them

      • They didn't price matched $1699 Amazon because not sold "and" delivered by Amazon AU. Its some other seller.

  • I got denied $1899 telstra price match because "it's not accessible to everyone".
Even though I had it in my cart for 1899 while logged in my telstra account.

    • did it just fine at JB northland

    • Same here.

Edit: Denied matching Telstra despite it's in cart ready for checkout.

Do they price match Dicksmith ? Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 256GB for $1549 if they price match and $1700 off so basically no out of pocket expense?

    https://www.dicksmith.com.au/da/buy/buy-mobile-samsung-galax…

    • only one way to find out

    • This will not be price matched because it's not aus stock and warranty is by third party. The amazon one states it's australian stock

    • Nope.

  • Went in to price match with Telstra as I have an account, but they would only do the 1200 gift card deal if price matched

    • I just did the same and got the $1700 just fine. The 1200 is for the $79 plan

      • They would only let me price match the Telstra price without giving the $300 GC.

        • That's weird, they did both for me and the $30 off from the perks

  • -2

According to conversations among staff members… It seems that there was recently company wide briefing about the 1700 only available for the ticket price… So price match is probably no more.
