This previously popular tablet is back on sale and while it's not an all time low it's getting harder to find this tablet less than US$250. This is easily one of my favourite tablets if you want something more high end for gaming/media, as it has the fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 CPU, a large 12.7" display with 144Hz refresh rate, plenty of RAM/storage and Widevine L1 DRM for Netflix HD.

Featuring ZUI 15 (Android 14), 12.7" 2944x1840 LCD display with 400nits brightness, HDR10 & Dolby Vision, 128GB UFS 3.1 storage with microSD support, 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, 10200mAh battery with 20W fast charging, 4 JBL Speakers with Dolby Atmos, 2 inbuilt mics, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, fingerprint reader, WiFi 6 ax, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, USB-C video out w/ 4K@60Hz and pogo pins for keyboard.

You must enable Google Play Services in Settings before you can use Google Play.

  • Add "Bundle: 8G 128G" and "Color: Grey Standard" to the cart
  • Apply the coupon OZAF30 or AUFF30 at checkout

Alternatively you can get the 8GB/256GB variant for US$227.33 with the coupon 200Z25B8 or 200Z25B10

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate and GST inclusive. Unfortunately this tablet is not eligible for cashback.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

Got it from last deal works perfect kids love it so they can play Roblox could not be happier highly recommended

    • How's the screen on it?
      Any cons?
I know it's cheap just after some real world experience based info.
      Thanks

      • 4k YouTube video crashes frequently on mine, lower res is fine. Remote desktop frequently quits itself also. Dont have anything else installed or use it all that much though.

      • It's a great tablet, however two caveats:
        1. You'll need to change the system font to fix the weird spaced apostrophe thing.
        2. Ziui for some stupid reason doesn't allow multiple users accounts. This was a bummer for me as it was part of my use case.

        • +1

These are my only two caveats too. Lack of multiple users was a bit of a disappointment - I hadn't read anything about that prior to purchase, and local Lenovo products allow it, so it was a bit unexpected.

The only other thing is 12.7" can be a bit large for some people, especially for one handed use.

Other than that, it's an excellent tablet and fantastic value for money.

          • @dontpanic: yeah, this diagonal would be better as a 4:3 rather than 16:9, other than that (and a few menus still in chinese) I am pretty happy with it so far

  • +1

Got the 2020 vers… for $450 ish back a couple yrs

  • +2

Can anyone comment on which pens work with these?

    • It might work with the xiaoxin pen for the previous model. The pen is not cheap.

      • +1

Good thing is the 2025 version uses AP500U, which costs half (~45 AUD) of the pen for the 2023 version and prior.

    • +1

Only pen that works with this is precision pen 3 and it costs around $80-100.

    • As far as I can tell, the BTP-131 is compatible. It has various names depending on where it's being sold ("Xiaoxin Pen 2" in China, "Precision Pen 3" in the US, possibly other names elsewhere, I'm not sure), but all the same model number.

Like the tablet, the pen seems to be cheapest from AliExpress. This listing is currently US$47.36, and has plenty of customer reviews with photos showing the model number (BTP-131) on the packaging.

  • this or alldocube i50 pro?

    • +1

Two completely different class sizes, the alldocube is 10.4" and this is 12.7"

    • If you're happy with 12.7" this is going to be miles ahead..

    • A bit disappointed with the i50 pro to be honest

  • +6

Man it's wild how good value this is. Anything in this sorta price range is complete potato tier garbage if purchased locally.

    • Yup. I don't like Samsung for this reason. They'll get the low end Unisoc CPU and slap a $300+ pricetag on it.

  • +5

Excellent tablet, no issues at all for content consumption with this large and good quality screen. I’d choose this tablet over basic iPads.

  • +2

Ended up paying ~$310 AUD, despite following the instructions from the OP. All good though, still more than happy with the price. Coming from a Lenovo p10 3rd gen.

    • Same for me, AU$311.41 from following OPs instructions exactly

      • And your card is an international transaction fee free card?

        • Yes, ING

          Subtotal AU$307.55
          Coupon -$30
          Shipping free
          Tax $33.86
          Total $311.41

          • +4

@augernised: So your AliExpress currency was set to AUD? My instructions are for converting USD to AUD to get the correct rate.

            • @Clear: Ok that makes sense and works, to be fair the wording in the post 'For those paying in USD..' under a different section kindof makes it sound like an option, not, do this exact thing to get the price posted - but appreciate your reply and for saving me another $11

              • +3

@augernised: For a long time no one ever needed to explain how to buy overseas in different currencies. Now that OzBargain has grown that's no longer the case.

Basically always assume that an overseas website will have an incorrect rate.

If you turn off the face recognition function, you will have a better battery life, it is a well known issue for this tablet in Chinese forum!

    • I found it not working well at all so turned it off.

  • Can some one explain to a non Android person about "CN Rom, English and Chinese, no google" ?
Does it mean the play store isn't on there by default and you've got to add it yourself ?
I was think of picking a couple up for Home Assistant.

    • You need chinese rom and then sideload google app store when your tablet arrives. Other roms were not recommended based on my research.

    • +1

You enable Google Services in Settings then either download Google Play from the Lenovo app store or sideload it yourself.

  • Can one wipe out and start afresh with stock android? Any feedback out in the wild?

  • +1

Thanks. Bought one previously for one of the kids… now the other kid gets one too!

  • +2

Got this last deal a couple months back. Very happy with it and highly recommended

Edit. Used this YT vid (thanks to Asaboy) to set up the tab for English use

  • Can i use this as external display for macbooks?

    • no, at least not natively, because Smart Connect isn't available on MacOS, only Windows.

  • Is this good for note taking?

  • Unless you want the stronger CPU, go for this one instead of the 2025 version. Screen specs and battery life are pretty much the same.

The one annoying issue I have with these Lenovo tablets is that most apps will be "force stopped" if you close them via multi-tasking, which means you don't get push notifications anymore and features like Google Assistant stop working unless you set them up again.

    • Yup the 2025 version is basically a CPU upgrade. There is a variant with a matte screen however.

      • I have the 2025 version w/ matte screen and it feels very smooth and is easy to look at, also works really great w/ the pen. One downside is the grainy feeling that the screen gives off during video playback.

Not sure if the matte screen is worth the extra 40 AUD or so when you can get a matte screen protector for less than half of that.

    • How does this tablet hold up on gaming? Would it run kids games find or heavier titles?

      • I think the SD 870 chip on the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2023 should handle most native Android games just fine, as long as the kid doesn't play 3D intensive games like Genshin Impact on the highest settings, lol. You only have issues when it comes to emulation, especially on heavier titles and consoles like PS2 and Switch.

For comparison the SD 870 is slightly stronger than the SD 865, which was the chip used in Samsung's Galaxy S20 and Note 20 lineup. So, this is by all accounts still an impressive chip for most basic uses.

        • I see sounds like a good buy then

  • +2

Rocking this 12.7" for the last 6 months. Much better than the older 2021 11.5" OLED version. Although you really can't go wrong with any of the Xiaoxin models. Fantastic tablets at great price points.

  • Does anybody know how this goes with local game streaming? Steam, moonlight etc? Latency?

    • Did a bit of research myself and the 870 chipset should be great with low decode latency. Bought.

  • +2

Can anyone comment on delivery times (Sydney)?

Estimated delivery time (if I buy today) says about 3.5 weeks, or Oct 9. I leave for an intl trip Oct 8 so just asking to see if Aliexpress is conservative with their estimates or not

edit: I scrolled through pages of reviews just to see one say shipping to australia was faster than expected, so my confirmation bias took over. trigger pulled

    • In my experience, stuff from AliExpress usually arrives a week or so before the delivery date.

      • Thankyou! that gives me some confidence, although this deal is proving popular.. We shall see

  • How does this do multitasking with Netflix/gaming? Any suggestions for better RAM?

  • +1

Can anyone who owns this tell me if I can limit battery charge to 60%, like Samsung's Battery Protection which limits charging to 80% and this non descript device option https://support.lenovo.com/au/en/solutions/ht510061-howto-en…
    Thx.

    • +1

      Yes, I'm doing exactly that

      • Sweet, thx.

  • Does anyone know of an AliExpress sourced, similarly specced tablet with 4G?

  • +2

Bought the 256gb model for around $368 AUD. Don't have a fee free card, and seemed a better deal than the recent s8 tablet. Still using a tab A from 2018 which is slow and unresponsive at times.

    • Tab A8 from the Optus deal?
Im still using it daily, although not very much. just to run the vacuum and some streaming/news.
Its an exercise in patience to use it - having to wait a second for anything to happen after a tap, but it keeps going 😃
thinking of upgrading with the above deal 🤔

  • Link checker tool shows as a non-affiliated product. That rules out CR and TCB cashback. How about SB?

    • Whays your link checker tool?

      • All cashback sites use the same checker

    • Shopback say noooo

  • Can any owner comment on the ability to use Hey Google on this tablet? Planning to use it for smart display and automation. Thanks in advance

    • +1

The 2025 version doesn't have the option, it's greyed out. Not sure about this one though.

Still, Google Assistant seems buggy with Lenovo's ZUI as it's not possible to keep it running in the background.

  • +2

Do I need it? No. Do I want it? Yes. How is the display quality compared to say an iPad Pro LCD?

  • +2

Bought the 2022 version of this. Be aware that warranty claims within 6 to 12 months will require you to find a way to post the tablet back to Lenovo China at your cost. On a related note, anyone know the best way to post a tablet from Au to Cn?

  • Got it last time for $298 for 128GB and $340 for 256GB.

    Fantastic.

    • I must have gotten lucky, I snagged the 256GB back in August for AU$295.81. Haven't seen it that cheap since.

      • +1

Yeah, well if this is a deal at 128GB, yours would have at least got 200 up votes.

        • +1

I was going to post it as a deal, but the price was already jacked back up after I ordered. I'll admit I got nervous that my order would get cancelled, but it shipped quickly and I received it no issues at all.

      • +1

Damn that's a great deal! Did you have a price tracker alert or something?

        • +1

No price tracker, I was already interested in buying that particular tablet at the time, so I simply went looking at listings once the Choice sale started on Aug 1st.

IIRC, I had added it to my cart using the SuperDeals section on the front page of AliExpress, where it was around US$225 for the 256GB (128GB was around US$200).

I was nearly ready to buy it, but other stuff came up, so I left it for a few hours. When I came back, the 256GB had dropped to the same price as the 128GB while sitting in my cart. I instantly bought it haha.

It's possible it was a price error, but they honoured it and shipped it pretty quickly, so idk.

  • How long is this supported for? Any ideas?

    • I believe it's security updates until 2027 with Android 15 already planned.

  • it says "Sorry, these coupon codes have already been claimed." bummer

  • Coupons all claimed?

  • Getting the same. Looks like deal is over

  • Just tried and it still worked. AUD 299.15

  • It's been a long time since I'm used an 16:9 for ebook. Feedback?

  • No issues with the China ROM? Also, i found this one that's cheaper. Looks the same??
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003844532181.html?spm=a2…

    • The first few lines of the description and this screenshot are a major red flag. Unlocked bootloader with a fake global ROM is not going to end well. You'll have a buggy/unresponsive ROM, no OTA updates, no Netflix HD and some apps (i.e. banking) will hissy fit about the unlocked bootloader (security issue, easy to load malware).

      • Thanks for the reply. I just finished reading a reddit post with pretty much exacly what you said. Will stay away.

      • You had posted Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad 2022 last year that a fake global rom with unlocked bootloader.
If this was a major red flag why did you post it?

  • Looks like deal is over? Anyone have recommendations for 10 inch tablet sub $200 perhaps?

  • From person experience If anything goes wrong on these devices after the protection period ends Aliexpress are not helpful.

    • +1

I mean, that's basically how it is for anything from AliExpress. When buying, you assume no warranty, unless it's DOA. If you need warranty, stick to Aussie retailers.

However, it's worth noting that to buy a tablet locally that is of a similar calibre specs wise, you're easily looking at 2-3x the cost. Even if this Lenovo died outside Ali's protection period, you could buy another one, and still come out ahead. And that's if it dies. Bathtub curve usually applies pretty heavily when it comes to most electronics in my experience.

      • Even if this Lenovo died outside Ali's protection period,

Yes, you I but another one or maybe something cheaper than this. But now I will lose not only money but data and files also.

        • +1

Data & files are lost no matter where a device is purchased from, the price vs risk is a personal decision, as it always has been. As you mentioned prior, all protection is only for a "period" of time with no one covering "data/files", where someone decides to purchase from & for what reason, has always been up to the purchaser.

  • i need a tablet for work productivity and whiteboarding on teams. Does anyone use it for this? Spec wise shouldnt be an issue but just wanted real world feedback.

  • Sorry, these coupon codes have already been claimed. However, you can still enjoy other great deals on AliExpress. seem finished

    • Just tried it and the AUF one still works?

  • +1

Bought one a few years ago from AE. Maybe 2021 model. Have a samsung $300 crappy tab and i needed something that had hardware x265 decoding for plex. Combined with the dolby atmos of this tab it was an easy sale.
My p11 pro came with proper android, locked bootloader etc. No complaints to this day and i use it litterally every day.
Tip for using a large tab for movies, get a tablet arm from amazon you can lay in bed and just look up.

  • +1

    Codes not working.

    • -1

      Same I can't be bothered

  • Now my google tools are part chinese. How do i make them back to english?

  • Has anyone received theirs yet? Still waiting for mine to arrive.

    • When was yours shipped? It's showing an estimate of 3-4 weeks shipping time and tracking showed singapore post. Got used to other recent aliexpress stuff arriving within 2 weeks haha.

    • Still waiting for mint. Last update on the AE app was on 17 September- 'left from transport country/ region.'
