Aren’t Officeworks fickle about whether they will or won’t price match Costco because a membership is required? Or has that changed?

    • +2

      Worked for me no issues.

      • Did you have, or were you asked about membership then ?

    • +2

as long as you have a costco membership and costco has the colour you want in stock then it's fine

      • Cheers.

      • +3

never been asked to prove Costco membership when price beating on the phone or in store. So long as it's verifiable online

        • +2

I have. Went to another store and they accepted without a card.

It just depends if the worker wants a power trip or can’t be bothered doing the price match I guess.

Price Matched an iphone yesterday no issues

      • Will it work with the Samsung one

    • +1

Worked for me, and the nearest Costco is 90 minutes away in another state.

    • Yep, didn’t work for me last time for a MacBook Air.

    • +1

Just picked one up, no membership required she seemed to know the go when I pulled out the costco site.

    11th gen out soon

    • Apparently in March or April!

      • This model has an iPhone 12 processor. Worth waiting imho

        • But with 8gb ram to support apple AI

          • @hopper: The new iPad will support Apple AI but the iPhone 14 Pro Max doesn't? The iPhone 14 Pro Max surely has much better specs.

            • @BluebirdV: my dads iphone 15 plus also won't support it :(

            • @BluebirdV: The new 11th gen base iPad will likely be very similar to the iPad Mini - A17 Pro and 8GB RAM. Those are the base specs for Apple Intelligence to run on. I just pray the base storage is also upped to 128GB

Bought one during Black Friday. It's pretty sweet but the only thing I miss is a high refresh screen. Having had high refresh screens for years now on my phone, going back to a 60hz screen is….yeah

But I get it, it was like $480 and I didn't want to pay a ton more for ProMotion

    • True. Its much more noticeable on a larger screen. But on a mobile device 90% of the time I dont even notice higher refresh rate.

      • you don't until you go back to using a 60hz screen. It's still perfectly fine but it's noticeable

    • ProMotion

Bit of a side note but I hate this name so much.
When trying to find out what devices have "ProMotion", it's so difficult to find because the search engine can't tell the difference between promotion and ProMotion

      • For sure. I tried to do some research again yesterday to see which iPads have ProMotion and all I got on Google was a bunch of ipads on sale….

Sounds like a cool name but yeah

  • Tried it JB HIFI 2 weeks ago. No love

    • I think the term you're looking for is "no joy", just going off what I learned from Call of Duty but idk I'm pretty dumb don't trust me

Meh. We need to stop normalising apple prices for an outdated products nowadays

    • This is a great price for a relatively recent iPad. iPad is like the genuine Tiny Teddies biscuits, delicious, you can taste the vanilla and egg in the ingredients. Android tablets even at this price or more tend to be more like the homebrand Small Bears knockoff biscuits, Android tablets just taste like a mouthful of flour.

Honestly, as someone who despises most apple products, I have to somewhat agree.
Android tablets at this price are better. 120Hz screens. Usually better processors (yes, both cpu and gpu wise). More ram. Slightly better battery life.

On paper, they're better! But then software rears its ugly head.
Apple, at least in the tablet space (Android's mobile incarnation is fine) has the better software in terms of stability. My oneplus pad occasionally does crash, and has weird bugs when using some apps. Do these go away upon a restart? Yes.
With an ipad you don't need that restart- it will just work. And for the people who are buying an ipad at this price (students, elderly, parents to give to their children) this is more important than a 120hz screen and better performance.

Great take. I’ve always built my own PCs and despise the Apple tax, especially on upgrades like RAM and storage. But if I’m buying a tablet for my kids homework, or for a parent to do Net Banking and look at Facebook, then the extra investment is worth it, because I don’t have to play tech support.

      • I like small bears :(

      • Got tab S9 for similar price which included Spen. You are right, ipad is a biscuit while samsung tab tastes like chocolate cookies

        • -1

Except the chocolate cookies are baked with Combantrin. Only standout of the Samsung tabs are the oversaturated OLED screen and being the only non dumpster-fire Android tablet.

Does anyone know if I bought one at OW 2 weeks ago for $494 (after a PB with Costco too) with $500 Ultimate everyone gc and still have not unboxed it. Can I request a refund from OW and get some money back (or at least pay some extra $ on top of ~$30 refund to have something else)??

    • Maybe they will issue an OW GC?

    • Went to the store and told them I still need the ipad. They said they couldn’t do refund for change of mind if I rebuy to take advantage of the price drop because that against their refunds policy. Then I told them what if I just return it then walk out to other stores to buy a new one then they said I can do it, I just can’t rebuy it from here! Wtf…?!? Gave up arguing it’s just not worth all the hassle for me.

I have mentioned this before, check for the hollow spots in the middle of the screen at the store when buying. I have had two of these from work and tapping or writing with Apple Pencil bends the screen in the middle and the air gap allows glass to touch the screen resulting in flexing and what appears to be water spill marks.

Also, screen is not vibrant at all and looks from the early 2010s…..perhaps because it is.

Still plenty powerful but 64gb lacks essential storage space for system files, apps and media.

I have got iPad M1 Pro 11, 2017 10.5 iPad Pro and iPad mini 2019 and none has these issues.

    • That sounds a lot like my non genuine screen replacment experience recently. Are you sure the screens hadnt been replaced on the units you used?

      • Brand new. IT team member unsealed both in front of me. The first one had network related issues so they replaced it with the other one. Big fan of M1 11 pro and was honestly disappointed with Apple hardware for the first time.

Bought one for $600 or something recently. Might try to refund at OW (unopened) and buy again. Might be worth it to save $100ish.

They might not honour the price beat because I got pink and Costco just have blue/silver. sad.
