  • Do prices tend to drop in general during these sale events? I have a cart that isn't at the minimum spend amount to use a coupon but not sure if it's worth waiting until the 11th in case the prices drop…

    • +1

Sometimes they drop. When the sale banners go live they'll usually say what the onsale price will be. With all marketplaces prices fluctuate so sometimes they go up.

      • Thanks. Some of the items I have have a price expiring in 19 days or so, so I'm guessing they'll stay the same :)

        • +1

There are many browser extensions tracking prices for each item, finding cheaper options by photo, and autoadding coupons. Try some.

          • @Ozzster: Just don't use them if you want to use cashback. A good chance it won't track

          • @Ozzster: Never knew this - thanks

  • +1

Not sure about others experiences with sales and ali express, but whenever i get a good price the item dont get sent, cancelled automatically and then sale prices return to presale prices and your told to order again.
Hope everyone has better luck than me.

Are you buying from reputable sellers? The ones that are too cheap with no ratings usually are scammers that either don’t send your item, or send you a hairbrush or portable fan instead.

I have no problems usually when I stick to the sellers with good ratings in the hundreds or thousands.

      • 1st was choice store (Silver but I thought it was gold when I ordered) - Sent incorrect item, spent weeks talking with seller because apparently returning the items through the Ali Express platform would have the items destroyed rather than returned to them…… Didn't have any options outside of that return process and was eventually refunded in full but wasn't pleasant experience.

2nd store, 4.7 rating ( 6k buyers last 180days) Failed to send item, auto refunded because due date expired and ali express took over, despite communication with seller to confirm it was on its way - Got worse price but reordered through seller who gave discount coupon to try make it better but still lost out. This order was part of a larger order which I got the winter sale discount coupon on, they refunded the now expired coupon making the rest of the items more expensive overall.

3rd & 4th stores were similar in that they were selling the item i wanted cheaper than everywhere else and it wasn't their normal products looking at their other items.
Both were cancelled, 1 by Ali express after the deadline for them to post expired and the other 3days before the deadline for them to post citing Postage issues

Have found getting your money back isn't very difficult if things go wrong though but taking months to get some items because of the issues can be a bit frustrating.

        • I see… that sucks! Looks like you are doing the right things but still there are bad sellers out there.

        • one of my recent CHOICE orders was worse!

I ordered says 10 items, they marked as sent,
they consolidate the items to 1 big package using the same tracking code
when it arrived, only 8 items in the package, 2 of the more expensive items are missing in the package!!!!

I lodged disputes for that 2 items, luckily they refund!

    • +1

normally choose those has choice. i think that is almost like fulfilled by amazon type…

      • just looked through my last orders and the non-choice store sticks out as the one I got delivered earlier than expected with no issues :P
plenty of issues with choice stores so far though….though - like I said above, refund isn't normally an issue when things go wrong

    • I figured out what happened…..especially if you paid with AUD
the AUD pricing we got was too low for what they like…..

      as in:
we ordered an item @ today's price with AUD (says it cost AUD $100)
and then the USD <—-> AUD conversion changed dramatically (AUD dropped to lower rate, says new pricing is now $110)
then dodgy AliExpress cancel the paid deal, and want us to buy again with the HIGHER rate!
they want us to re-purchase the exact same item @ AUD $110

I now have some orders with over 12 items cancelled….and they want me to reorder at a higher price!

  • Does anyone make somewhat sizeable purchases on AE? If so, what are some decent products youve bought?

Ive only ever spent less than like $20, just in case its trash. So far its been 80/20, good to trash

    • +1

Have bought some fairly expensive items from AE (one thing cost around $1700), and everything has been what I've expected or better. I'd say the communication with sellers for these expensive items is key. Get photos of them when they're being packed, ask questions, pay with PayPal etc.

I've had a slight issue with a $400 item (a higher model android head unit), but it was cheap and easy to remedy.

    • I've bought items around the $400 mark a couple of times…two have been fine… One was a head unit that didn't fit my car (the description didn't cover my specific model) and they were happy for me to return it, but I ended up installing it into another car instead.
Another was a completely incorrect car part, I ended up getting a refund through my credit card and the vendor stopped communicating with me.
a bit of a hassle, but i pointed out the differences in their photo compared to the part received. That was a few years ago as well, so i expect it would be better these days

  • Will there be TCB upsized cashback for AE again like last time just in time for these offers as a sweetener? @tightarse 🫰
    TIA 🙏

    • +9

We'll see what we can do 👍

    • Usually right after you order

  • Times are tough, it seems like there is one of these sales every other week.

12 months ago my cart would grow till one of these sales came along, then clear it out; these days my cart is pretty much always empty.

  • Does the code apply to non choice items? Wanting to buy a bunch of cheap phone parts for repair

    • Sitewide.

Made my first purchase with AE about a month ago, they claim my item was delivered but of course it wasn't.

AE want me to contact the courier (they haven't given me any courier details even after I have asked) and want me to send photos.

What photo's do I send - a picture of an empty box?

What a pain the arse to deal with, I'll just do a credit card chargeback instead of wasting more time with this useless shower of shit.

    • +1

The tracking would show you. Usually either Auspost, Aramex or Fast Horse.

My home deliveries are Aramex and I get email notifications of delivery. Dispute it and they can show the photo taken.

    • +3

Yes my friend literally sent a photo of his empty hand and they approved his refund

      • I don't have any details on my AE account or in emails who the courier was, I've wasted enough time on them I'll just do a chargeback.

        • Ive been a long time AE user and this is first time my package didnt get delivered to me. You can use the given tracking number and put it in a universal tracker page and it should tell you who the local courier is. Mine was iMile, and they sent me a picture of the package and where it was left. I found out that the address was in the wrong suburb even though the shipping address is correct. I told this to AE and they refunded me.

    • I’m having the exact same issue and the courier was Fast Horse Express. Been purchasing regularly from AE since forever. I’ve made two claims in that time. Now AE is being incredibly difficult with this case.

What’s worse is I contacted Fast Horse who won’t respond and I can’t even make sure it won’t happen again.

ali express does not have good customer protection
i received a broken device and aliexpress rejected my refund claim

  • Can anyone recommend a decent GoPro clone? ~$100?

    • $100 is tough. Do you require 4K?

      • Just 1080p. Just to record some video while bike riding for insurance purposes. Not recreational.

        • maybe a dashcam?

          • @maddoglee: Would much prefer something with a built-in battery. My bike doesn't have USB ports.

            • +1

@The Value: Check out the cameras from SJCAM. They've been in the game for a very long time and some of their cameras hold up pretty well. I previously used a C100+ as small helmet/chest cam and it worked well, though the battery life and EIS wasn't amazing but that's expected due to the low price.

They have a few new models like the C110 Plus, C200 Pro and C300 that are better.

  • anyone have recommended stores for lepin/technic?

Looking to pick up a few sets like the lambo, F1, etc

    • +1

Search for the pieces size e.g. "3696pcs" for the Sian. I rolled the dice and bought a set from a ShopXXXXX for US$48. It was missing one common piece which I scavenged from another set. Could have also 3d printed it. The colours were consistent. No broken pieces. Built fine from the original instructions and bagged by box number. From a search, this one is coming up for a nice price: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007530890168.html

      • thanks, looking to get the smaller set around 1280pc set.

    • outside of aliexpress but I used to use yourwobb. It was a little more spenny than aliexpress but they do have more care in their handling/delivery. Barely any missed parts and any that were missing they fixed pretty quickly.

  • Just got this on one of my previous orders, but no email or update about it. The order is only a few $ (USB adaptors). Never had this come up before.

    Customs update
    Customs duties payment requested
    Sep 10, 17:25 AEST

    • Damn I literally had the same thing, just a min before yours (Sep 10, 17:24 AEST).

Also just a few dollars of small junk, between $1-4. Never seen this before?

      • Aliexpress chat said to just send tax invoice since all taxes are paid but I don't know who to send to or call up

Update: just checked again and it's left customs.

    • +1

Usually if it held by customs, just wait a few days and it usually clears itself (assuming the item isn't illegal).

  • +1

Can't get code to work.ocer $65aud in my cart but says dont meet the $50 minimum.

    • +1

Got any SuperDeals in there, they don’t count toward coupon min spend

      • +1

I did not at the time unless there was some backend delay, but looks like now there is. Back to square 1 ! :)

Strangely now i cant access my wishlist, get a website error "Sorry, we can't find that page". They really dont want my money.

  • Thanks OP! Saved $30 :D

  • Neither are working for me in the $30 off $250+. No other codes or coupons or coins being used, no deals, the amount total is $330+

  • OZAF75: single use only and can't be used here
    AUFF75: already been claimed

But both $30 coupons work for me

  • Not cashback compatible?

    • They always are.

      • Are compatible or are not compatible?

        • Compatible.

  • Tried OZAF12,AUFF12,OZAF30,AUFF30 yesterday night and none of them worked (all coupons claimed). Had a $250 cart ready to go :'(
