@easternculture appreciate the screenshots, that makes a lot of sense.

@rbimdxe @Synapse29 - It's called leverage. The reason that easternculture and jaduquim can get so many codes is because they have been long time customers with many active services with Amaysim. I believe jaduquim said he had 7 and easternculture has over 10? You can see in the screenshot he escalated to supervisor, they looked up his many accounts and so offered a code.

          • -3

@LostyJai: Lol.. I'm wasnt even an amaysim customer. I only joined to get these codes…

        • -1

easternculture and jaduqimon must be friends ;)

        • -1

I'm more impressed that you have 59 tabs open in your browser and still able to use your phone lol

        • +1

Why cross out the date? For all you know it could be the initial phase back in August where codes were achievable via chat.

          • -7

@TomGum: Because amaysim monitor this thread

            • +1

@easternculture: Yes they are going to find you and claw back the $200 vouchers which you’ve already used. Like amaysim gives a sh*t. Give us a break.

  • Hey guys, got a related question.

I'm an existing customer on an 365 days plan and already have a code. Decided to get the phone with a $10 plan (don't wanna mess with my existing one). Bought a $25 sim from Coles for $10, activated it on a $10 plan up to the point of selecting a number (the system says I have to click another button to activate the sim to actually use it & I can only see this number in the Web but not on the app - ie it doesn't look like the clock has started ticking yet), ordered a phone with the code I already had with another $10 recharge and the phone has now been delivered.

So my question is: does anyone know how long I've got to actually activate that SIM? As in can I keep it for, say, several months until I have a need for it?

    • -1

did they email you the code?

      • I got a code a few months ago, with another number a family member was using.

  • -8

Anyone get any codes this weekend yet

  • -1

I failed to get a code thru amaysim chat. The rep was nice but no code.
Anyone know if a buy a amaysim SIM from Coles and put it in my 3g shutdown affected phone (Poco X3), what my chances are of getting a discount code?

      • -2

you'll get them this wed arvo.

      • +3

Oh, so you're just doing this as a fast buck?
        That's kinda scummy.

I just want a cheap phone to replace mine as it won't work next month because of the 3g shutoff.

      • may be you shouldn't stir-up readers, lol

  • -3

Any chance Amaysim has better Motorola phones eg. g84, edge 50 series soon for sale?

    • Mate, check this link: https://www.amaysim.com.au/devices/phones
And filter by clicking on 'Motorola'

As of now, amaysim is offering only G54 and G62 in Motorola devices, but if you're looking for something else, check other brands such as Samsung, Oppo, etc.

  • -2

Already checked Amaysim website every few days already.

  • Looks like Amaysim have started to catch on with how many phones are being purchased on a per customer basis with this new limit on each product page:

"Max 3 devices per customer, per mth."

"Can I purchase more than 1 phone?
Yes, you can purchase maximum 3 phones per customer per month."

    • -4

Lol that only stops the noobs

  • Samsung S24 FE has just been added. $849 -> $649 with code

  • -1

Check your emails… another batch of codes arrived.

    • No codes, just an email "100GB of data* to use until 31st May 2025"
I guess this means no code for me (even though I have been a customer for 3 years)?

      • What phone do u have that's using the SIM that's not volte compatible?

        • I still have my old ZTE 3G phone. I appreciate your thoughts.

          • @Gaz1: are u getting signal on it still? my speculation is they banned all the chinese phones. my huawei/zte cheapo ones i got from woolies never got a code sent where as my samsung s3/s4 and iphones all got codes sent every time guaranteed.

try a dif phone, non chinese brand before tomorrow which is when they do the scan

            • @Jaduqimon: Yes, it has been working perfectly for some time.

            • @Jaduqimon: Will iPhone 7 work?

            • @Jaduqimon: you might be onto something. mine is an old huawei phone, now got fully blocked by Optus, no code whatsoever.

    • -5

Just got 3 codes emailed lol

      • Never received any. Guess Amaysim just aren't that effective at allocating them 😂

        • -4

Just because of the haters negging, i will chat tomorrow to amaysim and get another code

            • -4

@Gaz1: What defines genuinely? Someone who actually still use a non volte phone as their main and doesn't have $200 spare cash to buy another phone?

  • Cool just bought a G54 for $9 and I am porting away from amaysim in 2 weeks!

    • Has it shipped? I also ordered yesterday but it hasn't shipped yet.

      • Order confirmed but not shipped.

      • Just got the invoice which included the tracking number and it's on its way. Due Monday

    • how to get $0 sim?

  • +1

This might be a stupid question, BUT asking anyway! If I buy a new phone linked to my Amaysim service, will there be any issues with my existing plan if that phone is used by someone else?

    • +1

No issues. The phone is not linked to your service in any way.

  • -3

I cannot figure out how this whole thing works. Can someone guide me please?
Where do I get the code? If it is for "new customers" how is it targeted if they don't have my details?

  • +1

For those reading the comments here and feel (like me) that asking Amaysim for a $200 code is not going to work - it worked for me!

I got the free data email this week, but was never offered $200 off. I started a chat with an Amaysim rep and they gave me a code. I enabled auto renew on my account before I chatted to them, but I don't know if this helped. Now have a Motorola G54 coming to me for $9. Good luck!

  • +1

Tips on how to get the $200 code:
Put Amaysim sim card in an old phone that will be impacted. I didn't recharge my Amaysim numbers and only put them in old phones (dual sim).

    I got email that says:
🚨"your name", act now. Your phone has or soon will be impacted by the 3G switch off🚨"

    I noticed in the email:
"You can get a new phone at no cost (with an eligible SIM plan and your personalised promo code)."

Then I chatted Amaysim agent/customer service:
"I got an email from Amaysim that I can get a new phone with personalised promo code."

The agent checked my account and confirmed that my phone will be impacted. She gave me 3 codes as I have 3 Amaysim numbers that I put in my old phones.

Very cheap to buy phones from Amaysim. I bought 1 as a backup and I think having esim will be useful when I am overseas with free data from esim deals in Ozb. I'll give the other code to my friend. Winning ✌️ Cheers :D

    • +2

      Same, email said

You can get a new phone at no cost (with your existing plan) using your personalised promo code (sent via email previously), by 31/10/24. If you have not received a promo code simply contact us on 1300 222 500 for more details.

I used online chat, asked how to get code(20min wait?), got a $200 code and bought the G54 for $9 🙂

    • +1

Thanks, I got one code, but when I put other sim to the same phone, looks like not work for that number.. when I chat with them, they say..

"Yes. But we onl detect one device on your account that will be impacted that is why the system only generated one code for you. We are only giving promotional code one impacted device per account only."

      • Got one… now…. yaaaa…

    • Did you have x3 different email address for each of your 3 Amaysim phone numbers?

      • No, all under 1 account.

When there's 100% cashback promo, that's the best time to buy ;-)

    • How long did you leave the sim card in the old phone before you received the email?

      • The first time maybe few weeks, I forget. The last warning email is getting faster.

These days should be same day or 1 day to receive the sms and email because the dateline is the end of this month.

    • Thanks….

  • is the g62 (out of stock) better than the g54? apart from esim availability?

  • G62 or G54? I like the chip on G62, but it's an older model, any suggestion here?

    • G62 has been out of stock for ages.

    • G62 OOS

  • -4

Another batch of codes sent out

    • How do you have so many 3g phones? My 3g phone has been blocked by them. Now it doesn't connect to optus network.

      • -5

I just have a few that still works. Samsung S4 S5 and a OnePlus 3

    • +1

I was told that its was only 1 promo code per number. Not sure how you keep receiving them

      • -4

        just get more numbers

        • +1

Don't they only provide codes for people that have had the number for a while?

  • A35 or the G54 which will last longer in the long run? Is the screen better on the A35 and is the screen slightly bigger? I know the A35 will probably be better but i just want to get other peoples thoughts

    • A35 has 6GB ram and G54 has 8GB.

    • I have both, purchased through the Amaysim vouchers, I prefer the A35. The screen is a lot more better picture quality and also the feel of the phone is solid. G54 is quite plasticky, lighter and does feel cheap. Both devices run Hayday without any problems.

    • +6

      Yes, A35 is 6.6" with Gorrila Glass Victus+ while G54 is 6.5"

A35 will receive 4 major android upgrades according to GSMARENA, so yes it will last longer from OS upgrade perspective.

In theory A35 has better screen with Super AMOLED but:
"The display backlight flickers at 240 Hz (worst case, e.g., utilizing PWM) .

The frequency of 240 Hz is relatively low, so sensitive users will likely notice flickering and experience eyestrain at the stated brightness setting and below."

      https://www.notebookcheck.net/Samsung-Galaxy-A35-5G-review-A…

For me, IPS LCD on G54 is still good enough.

The camera on A35 is better with 4k video support, while G54 can only do 1080p. For me, it doesn't matter except if I watch videos recorded on big 4K TV like 50" or above. I'll put gcam mod app for better photo quality in any android phone anyway.

The memory card slot is hybrid? in A35 compared with G54 dedicated memory card slot. If you only use 1 phone number, that's fine. If dual sim cards, G54 is great with esim and dedicated memory card slot from what I read. A35 doesn't have esim. Having esim is great for overseas travel with free data from many Ozb deals.

No audio jack 3.5mm on A35, while G54 has audio jack 3.5mm. Handy if you use wired earphone/headphone (or buy additional USB C adapter for wired earphone/headphone to be used with A35). Hi-res music is best with wired, not wireless earbuds.

      • Thx for the write up!

    • -1

Lol….you're ALL 100% correct: each driven OWN-bias, OWN-preferences, paid & bias reviews, budget, buying-criteria etc. You can ALL be looking @ the SAME A35-screen & your answers are likely different shade-of-grey…haha.

      Buyers: read-widely & read-thru the write-ups, visit a JB-Hifi store & test demo these phones (a few times), understand YOUR-bias, YOUR-preferences etc.

Considerations includes & likely that some of YOUR-criteria is NOT-listed…lol-> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15813030/redir

      A35: sometime UI-stutters & lag ?

      • +2

        A35: sometime UI-stutters & lag ?

This one is easy to fix. Install and use systemwide adblocker app like "Adguard" app (paid, include firewall) or "NextDNS" (free for personal use).

Also install and use "Hibernator" app. Not all apps need to run all day in the background like shopping apps, bank apps, food delivery apps, etc. Change this in the phone Settings too (allow or not background activity).

Disable background data for apps that don't need to run data all day, only when using the apps in the phone Settings (and Adguard app has this feature too).

        • Pls share the basis of your comments, eg using those APPs on A35, read reviews, adverse impacts etc…prefer details rather than high-level, thanks

          • +1

@ab c: It looks like you are not in Sydney. If yes, you could go to ozb meetup like in Hyde Park and meet me. Happy to show step by step.

  • Managed to get the code from online chat yesterday and just bought the A35 today for $129.

    • -2

What did you say to the chat support people to get the code? Also, did you have a current Amaysim plan or just an existing account but no current service?

Whats the subject of the email?

I have quite a few premium numbers with Amaysim getting yearly renewals, what are the chances they might provide me with a code if i request one?

    • You need an old phone that won't be able to call 000 after 3G shutdown or no VoLTE. Put the sim card into that old phone for a while. You'll get sms and email about 3G shutdown.

      • Thanks, oddly enough circles sent me an email telling me a phone i was using was 3G. I will see if i can find an old handset tonight and try it!

        • -3

If you put Amaysim in the old phone that they think is not VoLTE capable and won't be able to call 000 after 3G shutdown, you may get email with subject:
🚨"your name", act now. Your phone has or soon will be impacted by the 3G switch off🚨"

After that, chat Amaysim agent/customer service that you got email from Amaysim and ask the $200 voucher to buy a new phone from Amaysim.

      • Would they send the code if my plan is PAYG? Or do I need to switch to prepaid one?

        • -2

It doesn't matter. I didn't recharge my 3 numbers, only deliberately put them into old phones. Do this, then you'll receive sms and email about 3G shutdown.

          • +1

@neoleo: Tried on the chat and they said I'm not eligible :(
They give it to only old customers :(

  • -1

Managed to get a code with chat. I'm intending to buy a new phone for use to port in a new number.
I already have a $30 amaysim starter pack bought from Coles for $10 which I would like to use together with the code to buy a new phone. Is that possible? Or is there a way to get around having to buy another $30 plan with the phone purchase? Lots of great ideas here but I'm not sure how to proceed. Comments appreciated.

    • make an account with the $30 pack you alrdy got, then buy the phone and choose exisitng customer. login and you only have to pay for the phone, not another $30 sim

      • Sounds good. Does the new account have to be the owner of the code?

    • +1

What did you say on the chat?
They responded that I'm not eligible as I'm new customer :(
