    • Of course

      • OK, paid off my ANZ card and disassociated it from all direct debits. Last time, paying off the credit card just took an overnight payment so I'll probably cancel it tomorrow once the payment arrives and then open up a new Virgin Flyer.

    • Income level plays a big part in it too, but you should be fine!

      • Agree.

My ANZ card is now cancelled and I have the Virgin Flyer application in progress. Just waiting for ANZ to send me my closure letter (hopefully by Thursday) and I'll attach it to my Virgin Flyer application as proof the credit card is cancelled.

Then I got a tonne of bills to pay with this credit card… rego, water rates, council rates, body corp fees, car insurance, etc, etc.

Hopefully enough of these will count towards the $1500 spend.

        • Well damn. Looks like out of all those costs I have lined up, only the body corp fees and maybe vehicle insurances will qualify as eligible expenditure for the bonus points….

Velocity membership Terms and Conditions, apply. Velocity Points are earned on Eligible Transactions only. Eligible Transaction means any purchase excluding (but not limited to) Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, BPAY payments, purchases of foreign currency and travellers cheques, transactions made in operating a business, bank fees and charges such as interest and ATM charges and government related transactions. Government related transactions include transactions with government or semi-government entities, or relating to services provided by or in connection with government (for example but not limited to transactions made at Australia Post, payments to the Australian Taxation Office, council rates, motor registries, tolls, parking stations and meters, fares on public transport, fines and court related costs).

Just as well, those two costs will be over $1500 alone. Might buy my wife's plane tickets in August. That's $1800 there alone.

          • +2

@Mugsy: Use Sniip or Zippay for those council bills and rego ;)

            • +1

@griffy: I have a feeling I was given that advice the last time I applied for the Virgin Flyer!

              Cheers for the reminder.

              • @Mugsy: Hmmm, I don't think I'm going to need to do the zippay thing… I've been doing up quotes for home and contents insurance and it's going to exceed $1500 easily.

On the brightside, I got offered the bonus 5k velocity points today… apparently I need to keep the card for at least 90 days before I get the 5k points. I suspect I will be keeping the card for a bit longer in order to use the flight credit anyway.

In a few month's time, I'll apply for my Bendigo Ready credit card but won't cancel the Virgin Flyer… fingers crossed I can get both.

                • @Mugsy: Card doesn’t need to be active to redeem the flight credit. It goes into your travel bank (like flight credits during Covid)

                  • @Brick50: Cheers for the tip… will get right on it then and get that credit.

          • @Mugsy: Use Zippay everything else will go through except Body Corp.

            • @nightelves: Finally got my card today. Put through two zippay payments for our car rego just in case the home and contents insurance payment doesn't count towards the $1500 spend. $5 fees but better safe than sorry. $1500 spend achieved on first day of the card.

Also paid the water rates which are due in 5 days. Probably need to pay off the card so I have enough credit to pay off the other bills due over this month - lol

              • @Mugsy: I was told that Govt expenditure does count to trigger bonus points but won't earn velocity points.

                • @soan papdi: Check the eligible expenditure fine print. There's a big list of things that won't count towards your $1500 spend target.

                  • @Mugsy: Yep, those are for earning points. Bonus points can be triggered using govt spending (rates, vicroads, water, etc). You can send a secure message to them and confirm for yourself.

  • When are we supposed to get the 30k bonus points after meeting the min spend?

    • Looking back at the last time I applied for the card, at the end of the first month when you get your monthly points accrual paid to you, you get 30k points for the first $1500 spend, and also the 30k bonus points from the VFF offer. You obviously get the remaining 30k points from the total 90k bonus points after a second month of $1500 spend.

If you got offered a further 5k points, this may take up to 90 days to get.

      • I was also offered the extra 5k for submitting documents. I previously got the 5k in the first month in addition to 30k from $1500 spend + 30k from the VFF offer.

      • +1

I got my 30k from my first VirginMoney month yesterday, but not the bonus 30k yet. I applied within the timeframe, so I assume it'll come soon. Or maybe next month 🤷‍♂️

    • I received mine a few days ago, same day I received my points from hitting min spend.

From a card that was opened prior to the offer period for this bonus, btw.

      • possibly you received the bonus from previous promotions
Does it show”All in campaign Feb 24” something in the statement?

  • -1

I applied for amex and approved with 100k offer prior to this offer and met the min spend after this offer came on but did not receive the 30k points… Am I not eligible?

  • Just got approved for the Westpac Altitude Black Velocity card. I know I'll have 120 days to meet the $6k spend for the Velocity points on Westpac end (90k). Anyone know if I need to meet that same spend before the promo period ends on 15 July for the 30k Velocity bonus? Because that would be tough without having the card in hand!

    • Reading the below, I gather the important bit is applying before the end of 15 July, and then going on to meet the minimum spend within the 120 days?

      T&C:

      *30,000 bonus Points

To be eligible to receive 30,000 bonus Velocity Points, you must (a) be a Velocity Frequent Flyer member, (b) apply for the American Express Velocity Platinum credit card, American Express Velocity Business Card, Westpac Altitude Platinum credit card, Westpac Altitude Black credit card, Virgin Australia Velocity Higher Flyer Card, Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card between 12.01am (AEST) 12 June 2024 and 11:59pm (AEST) 15 July 2024, and (c) be approved and meet the minimum spend criteria for the eligible offer associated with the individual card if the application is successful. Offer end dates may be extended without notice.

    • No. The bonus 30K is for meeting whatever the normal card bonus terms are ie 120 days.

  • My velocity flyer card application is rejected . How many days I need to wait before apply for same card ?

    • 3-6 months I would suggest

  • my virgin Australia velocity flyer approved on 2/7 but still receive my card yet.
can I still eligible 30k bonus?

    • Yes

      • is it ? meet the minimum spend criteria and do I get bonus?

        • Contact them about your card. as long as you spent 1500 In first statement period you’ll be fine.

I was approved a few days after the last deal ended and got the bonus points after 30 days of opening card

  • Thanks OP.
Had a break from churning as I got rejected by American Express a few months ago but thankfully got approved for the Velocity Flyer card. 😎

  • for some reason i cant progress through the application and get an error saying "something went wrong".
Happens on multiple browsers and in private browsing too. zzz

    • Try entering your street address manually

  • I'm yet to receive the 30k bonus on my Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card with Velocity Points. Signup bonus on the card was credited to my Velocity a/c on 11 Jul.
Anyone else recivd the bonus 30k for Westpac Velocity cards?

    • Yes, I have. See my comment above. (sorry, I don't know how to link to it)

      • I saw your comment but couldn't make out if you applied for the same card Westpac Velocity Plat.

    • not westpac, but I got the the signup bonus from virgin money flyer card credited. however no 30k bonus yet.
last time the same promotion credit bonus point on the same day as credit card sign up point.

    • I'm in the same boat.

    • have you received your 30k bonus yet with your westpac card?

  • +1

Applied today lets see what happens

    • Previous card closed 5/6, I got bonus 30k with that card too from last deal.

      applied yesterday approved today.
Will update if I get the additional 30k again

      • Thanks, keen to find out as well.

    • isn't it outside the offer period now?

  • I received the sign up bonus for Westpac but not the 30k bonus. How long did people wait for their 30k after meeting spending limit?

    • I didn't get the Westpac card but the last time I got the Virgin Flyer, I got the bonus 30k points with my first month's standard 30k points for the $1500 spend.

      • Thanks. I wonder if I have to chase up then.

    • Me too. Let me know when you get your please

    • have you received your 30k bonus yet with your westpac card?

      • Nope, have you?

      • No only the 60k sign up bonus from Westpac.

      • +1

No-one seems to have reported receiving the bonus 30K points, which is weird. If the eligibility for the bonus only ended on 15 July, maybe they just haven't processed them yet, and will do them as a block for all the new cardholders?

        • Same got my 60k for my westpac velocity, still hasn’t received my 30k bonus yet

          • @Tezzzza: Quite possible these bonus points do just take longer to hit. While they are usually faster than stated the offer fine print does suggest it will be many weeks before the 30,000 extra is credited:

“The 30,000 bonus Points will be allocated to your Velocity account in accordance with, and subject to the Velocity membership Terms and Conditions 10-12 weeks after you meet the minimum spend criteria for the eligible offer associated with the individual card.
This bonus Points offer cannot be used in conjunction with other bonus Points offers provided by Velocity Frequent Flyer in respect of Credit Cards. Only one bonus Point offer can be earned on a single credit card; if multiple offers are activated, the highest bonus Point offer will be applied.”

            • @fookos: So basically, i cant close my credit card yet until Ive received the bonus 30k points

              • @Tezzzza: To be safe

              • @Tezzzza: The hard life of a churner

                • +2

@fookos: Got my bonus 30k points from my virgin flyer credit card, partner still waiting for her westpac platinum 30k bonus yikes

                  • @Tezzzza: Well done. Thanks for update. Hopefully Westpac not far away!

                  • @Tezzzza: how many days did you wait after you get signup bonus from virgin flyer?
I got first 30k points from the card few weeks ago but still waiting for the bonus 30k.

                    • @kokoikaka: Got it together with my first statement 30k points

                      • @Tezzzza: Thanks for the reply mate
what’s the description of that transaction in your balance?

                      • @Tezzzza: Does it show bonus points on your statement? I received my bonus points too but for February campaign.

                        • @PadreOzv: I reckon most ppl received the points from Feb promotion instead of the latest one.

                          • @kokoikaka: My point is showing as feb promo though, but i never sign up any credit card during feb

                      • @Tezzzza: Last time I used Virgin Flyer with the 30k Velocity bonus, it was paid with my first month's statement too. Good to see it's still happening that way. Looking forward to checking my balance in 1.5 weeks.

  • For anyone who has churned the Virgin Money card more than once, a couple of questions.
I am trying to login with my existing username, but it will not let me.
Then I tried to make a new account with my previous username but it will not let me.
I called in, and they said they can’t link my new card with my old account. I will just have to create a new account with a new username to access online banking.
This seems ridiculous. For people who have churned four times, does this mean you now have four accounts?

    • I'm on my 2nd churn and I'm able to use the exact same account as the first time. I was able to login with the same unchanged username and password (was not required to create it again).

Did you use the exact same details as last time on the application? Mine were all the same, except I even used a different email address.

PS. I also have a Virgin Money Go bank account open with them that I never closed, not sure if that makes a difference. My new card shows up again in the Virgin Money app linked with the bank account (same as the first time)

      • Yep. Everything was saved in a password manager so guaranteed to be the same. Not sure why I am having so much difficulty.
I recall from previous experiences, everyone said this card (and application process and receiving points, etc.) is really smooth, if nothing goes wrong. But if anything goes wrong, it's a nightmare.

        • I had to create a new account with new username and all seems fine

          I’m on my third card,
          First card first account
          Second card second account
          Third card second account

Seems odd but works for me

  • Anyone know if uni fees usually qualify as eligible spend on these cards?

    • Commentary above and/or in previous deals seems to suggest that even for spends that don't qualify for points normally (like tax, or council rates), even if you don't get points earn, the spends still qualify for min spend for the purposes of the bonus points.

That being said, you can get around all that by buying prepaid gift cards, and spending on those cards. It requires expending effort, so whether it is worth it is up to you.

  • How long after your card statement showing the first 30k bonus does it actually hit your velocity account? Statement arrived monday for virgin flyer card but points still not showing in velocity account.

    • last time it took around 10 or so days for me

    • Not showing for me either atm, about 12 days after statement arrived. I was told on the phone it can take up to 10 or so weeks worst case.

  • Silly question… if I pay for car insurance via my insurer's (NRMA) website, that won't count as bpay right? And it's an eligble expense to satisfy the monthly spend right?

    • +1

Bpay is only if you use bpay - biller code, reference number etc.

If you pay by credit card by inputting your card details, then it's not bpay :)

      • +1

        Cheers bud!

I thought it wasn't… but brain is exhausted and I'm not trusting my own judgement atm - lol.

I'll just pay my wife's car insurance directly through NRMA to satisfy $1k of the second month's Virgin Flyer spend then. I have a few Pay in 4 payments that I'll also pay off in full come the second month… should be a quick win for satisfying the second month's spend.

Just need to hold onto the card long enough to get that extra 5k points and remember to request the virgin flight credit after 30 days.

  • has anyone received the bonus 30k points yet?

  • I've not received any bonus points after hitting minimum spend. The Virign Money portal shows that they've redeemed 30k worth of points on 3/8 - but nothing has hit my VFF account just yet. Called VFF yesterday and they have advised to call Virgin Money.

Has anyone else received a lag between their statement and the points hitting their account?

    • +1

I got the 30k the day after my statement (13/7), but the additional 30k hasn't come through yet.

    • +1

I am in the same boat, got my statement of 4th August mentioning 32k velocity points (including 30k bonus points) to be credited. However, I havent received anything in my VFF account. I called them up yesterday and i have been told to wait 10 business days from the statement date.

      • Haven't received it yet - guess it's just a waiting game.

        • I have just got my standard 30k points, havent received bonus points yet

  • Still waiting for the Westpac Altitude Platinum bonus 30k points.

  • +3

I got 30K today as my additional bonus for the Velocity Flyer card. It was called “DE 30KBPs June campaign 2024”.

    • When did you received your statement points?

      • +1

        17 July

    • Same here, got statement points on 13th July and bonus also showing as 8th Aug.

  • Hit my minimum spend 3 weeks back, got the Amex sign up points but not the 30k yet.

Anyone else who got on the Amex offer and got the additional points? How long did it take?

Would I need to follow up with velocity directly about this? Thanks!

  • Just noticed the T&C stated that for virgin money card to be eligible to the 30k bonus.
Application need to be made via this link
    http://t.e.velocityfrequentflyer.com/r/?id=h768e29fc%2C3690a…

I got my first 30k card sign-up point few weeks before but still got no bonus, this maybe the reason. The devil is in the details…

  • Second month should begin tomorrow or Monday… looking forward to seeing if I get the bonus 30k points with the first month's 30k.

Got $3500 in Pay in 4 payments to make which I'll just process on the 13th to meet the second month.

    • Hmmm, nothing added to my balance this morning.

      • Still waiting for that first month's statement to come through. Points ought to arrive with that.

I have been charged the $74 annual fee though so it shouldn't be too long.
